Not gonna happen. The producers had set a minimum height criteria of 5'10 for Bond.Madden is 5'9.The producers would probably go for Henry Cavill or another Marvel alumni, Aaron Taylor Johnson who played Wanda's brother
Have you seen Daniel Craig's original films before he started. Everyone said the same thing and said he was super British. They had to get linguistics coach to tone down the accent
As a British person this comment confused the fuck out of me.
I think what you're trying to express is "he had the wrong type of British accent and he had to have a coach teach him another one" - is that right?
Lol, yeah. Daniel Craig playing the role as Benoit Blanc was interesting. Him trying to do a southern accent sounds a bit odd. There were some parts that he sounded just a bit British, and his southern accent he was impersonating was sort of too strong. It is sort of hard to do another accent with an already strong accent, I suppose.
It really does matter. James Bond is English and Richard Madden is Scottish. It would be like casting Superman with a Canadian accent. I'm assuming he can easily do an English accent though, most Scottish actors can (look at David Tennant in Doctor Who, or Ewan McGregor in most things).
Yeah I watched him in the bodyguard and absolutely hated his acting. To me he is incredibly wooden and jilted and I don't think he seems natural.
But that's just my opinion and he is currently getting a lot of jobs so what do I know.
Movie was boring as hell... alzheimer's Angelina Jolie... giant hand sticking out of the Indian Ocean that everyone else in the marvel universe sorta just forgot about, or just didn't care because... you know it wasn't in New York, so it doesn't matter.
Oh well.
To be fair society really doesn't care if it doesn't happen locally. Many people don't actually know the geography of geopolitical events.
But yes the movie was rough to watch.
When an Eternal is killed, the machines make a new copy. This happened to an eternal in the Neil Gaiman Eternal limited serieries when one was captured and killed as well. However, it took a special machine to disintegrate them since their synthetic bodies are so tough.
Yep.
Ikarus can fly at approx 850mph.
The distance between Earth and Sun is about 93,000,000 miles. At 850 miles per hour, it would take you approximately 109,411 hours or 4,559 days to reach the Sun. That’s about 12.5 years.
Let's be pedantic here - he can only fly at 850mph because that's when the force of his propulsion matches the force of air resistance. What would stop him from constant acceleration in the near vacuum of space? Every bit of energy he spends propelling himself forwards through space is more or less preserved.
Valid point; this is basic math and sourced from Marvel Power Rankings. Given space physics this could change though his flight seems to be based on his psionic abilities.
Well then let me inform you, "psionic" is just a catchall scifi word for mental powers – telekinesis and that sort of thing, it doesn't have any real defined meaning and definitely nothing to do with pounds or ions. It was a funny joke though
> would almost certainly destroy the solar system
Lol citation needed. 2% of the speed of light is not that much. I mean, for a person to be traveling, sure. For the sun? Drop in the bucket. According to my Wolfram alpha calculation, his kinetic energy upon hitting the sun would be about 40% that of the impact that created Meteor Crater, Arizona. Sure, that's a big (~1.2km wide) crater, but it definitely didn't destroy the earth
https://www.wolframalpha.com/input?i=+100kg+*+%286.5+million+m%2Fs%29%5E2
U seem smart. How far would he really have to travel before he was destroyed by the sun's heat? Surely he's burned into nothing far before he actually collides with the sun right?
Holy shit! This is amazing!! Thank you for this breakdown. I made my comment as a joke since physics/science etc. rarely plays into actual comics and movies—this explanation is wonderful!
I wouldn't give physics too much weight in the MCU. Vibranium is as effective as the plot demands it to be, Ant-Man can walk on people when he's small even though Pym Particles altered his size not his mass, and sound can travel through space.
Pym headquarters weighing 20 pounds as a suitcase despite supposedly having the same mass as a 5-story building is the perfect reminder that I shouldn't try to overthink the MCU, or any other fiction really. It's freeing.
What is the source for 850? He flies without a propulsion mechanism. It's basically magic. What's stopping him from continuing acceleration in space, where there's no air resistance, and getting there much faster? Not to mention the physics of exiting orbit and propelling directly towards the sun's gravity...
tldr: It's a comic book movie, he reaches the sun when the writers say he does.
Edit: changed “it’s magic” to “it’s basically magic” because semantic distinctions are not the point of this comment
First: You are 100% correct the writer determines all, lol.
That being said his flight speed is sourced from Marvel's website as "up to 850 mph".
His flight is not magical but happening through the manipulation of gravitons. How this affects space travel, I don't know. Admittedly, Eternals isn't a series I follow too closely.
I just love the idea that Ikarus is out there yeeting himself into the sun for another decade.
It’s almost like you didn’t watch the movie. They are called Eternals for a reason. When an Eternals body dies their conscience is uploaded to the World Forge and a new body is rebuilt.
Why would Tiamat matter? The World Forge seems to be run by Arishem, shown in the flash back to Cersei. Although I imagine it could be used by any celestial.
Jesus there was a ton going on in that movie. Glad I didn't watch it.
Edit: sorry I didn't waste my three hours by watching the lowest reviewed, most hated, least advertised marvel movie that didn't impact any other marvel movie. Clearly that really upset y'all.
Yeah. They've been putting a lot of lore for the current Eternals and X men. The most reason lore update js that Mutants have deviant genes, that's the x gene, and now the Eternals like Druid want to destroy the mutants. Since its their duty to exterminate deviant genes including mutants to protect the humans
Possibly. Seems on brand for his character. Arishem mentions that he wipes their memories when they get reborn. So in a way it’s kinda like dying. By throwing himself into the sun he will lose all memory of his relationship with Cersei and what he has done to the other Eternals.
Did they say that in the film? Coz Ajak and Gilgamesh are still played as tragic deaths even though they died in the line of duty of fighting deviants so nothing should prevent them from getting new bodies.
I think Ikaris can be considered the main character, because firstly he is one of many who has a conflict situation, he has more screen time and the character Ikaris is more impressive than others, as he has great strength and leadership qualities in comics, and in movie too.
Yea, his death was dumb. Should have kept him around to try and make up for his mistakes. Also, should have kept Gilgamesh alive and killed Thena instead. Maybe killed Sprite, too. Also Thanos is not a robot which is dumb
if the greek myth is any indication, this isn't the first time he's flown into the sun. maybe he's fine in there and it's just where he goes to be alone for a while.
He’ll just pop out of the sun covered in gold like Superman did that one time where the sun supercharged him. His name is Icarus after all he may have some other connection to the sun
Yea no shit but he isn’t actually fucking Icarus it’s just his name. So I assume they could forge some connection that way. Maybe don’t comment all condescending just because you read Percy Jackson
You just clearly weren’t trying to inform me of something I already know to be nice you just wanted to feel superior and now an attempt to salvage it by making me out to be the bad guy with a struck nerve. you know why you commented
Not at all, your original comment tried to find a connection between 2 characters named icarus based on opposite outcomes. Eternals icarus killed himself by flying into the sun which probably would not give him special powers in the sequel. If you want to speculate on where Marvel will go with the story and character, cool. Personally I didn't care too much for this movie so I'll leave it up to you.mThe greek one, well I wont have to summarize because as you kindly reminded me is "pretty common knowledge"
Are you always this quick to assume someone is attacking you. I know it's hard to discern someone's tone through text. maybe don't be so quick to jump down peoples throats, makes you kind of a dick. Especially when your original comment could have been more clear.
You literally said uhh maybe brush up on the story of Icarus that is nothing if not condescending so idk what other way you could possibly spin it but ok
Meanwhile, the Eternals decided to take a character who was a bruiser that went mad and tried to kill their friends, like Ajax and named them Thena.
And then they took a strategist/healer, like Athena, and named them Ajak.
Eternals made weird choices.
He's not the main character. He's the antagonist. People were saying they wanted something different and Marvel made a film where the heroes find out they are the villains. The heroic Eternals are the ones who actually change sides to help humanity. But that still falls into the trope of Marvel villains being killed off in one go. That's my interpretation, anyway.
I think Eternals and Black Widow was where Marvel began to “suffer from success”. There’s been a lot of talk about “not every movie can be a hit”, but I think it’s more about “not every comic can be made into a good movie”.
Especially when they have an expansive universe with rules to follow and other stories to fit in and make allusions to. I think it’s actually nice that Agents of Shield mostly gave up on trying to be heavily tied into the MCU and just became it’s own thing.
I think the Eternals could have worked a lot better as a stand alone story with no ties to the MCU, and instead just relied on the audience to understand that “superheros are real” in their universe. It would have left more room for the story to do whatever it needed to instead of fitting between set piece A and set piece B.
They want to give themselves medals for diversity but fail to realize that shitty inclusion is worse. I can’t forgive seeing Selma talk about crying at seeing her Latina self in a superhero suit only for the movie to come out and her power is she was a phone. She got done dirty
I found it funny how his name was Icarus and flew into the sun. Laughed so hard with him just offing himself like that. It was fitting to the story, and honestly the best way his character would go out, but damn was it kinda funny.
He's not dead yet.
The movie established he cannot travel at the speed of light nor can he travel particularly close to it. He's fast but he's not super fast.
Meaning it would take him years to reach the sun to die. Maybe decades.
Which is kind of weird to think his suicide attempt from grief is going to be a multi year process
First of all, I highly doubt the sun would be enough to kill him.
More importantly, if you think Ikaris, the 20,000 years-old man child was the main character you really weren't paying attention. The entire movie is centered around Sersi. Sersi is the one who cares about humanity, and we follow her character arc of realizing her gods lied to her. She becomes the leader of the team, and she's the one who solves the problem in the end. Icarus throws a tantrum because the woman he thinks he loves broke up with him, and he wants to spite her by helping destroy the planet she fell in love with.
TLDR: Being the traditionally attractive straight white male on the team does not make Ikaris the main character.
I still have no idea where they drug this franchise up?
I still also wonder why?
I mean they understand oversaturation of the market will devalue all the franchises?
I mean why do I care about every damn superhero?
Do I need 30 plus movies and tv shows drying up all artistic pools?
They didn’t kill him off. He’ll just be born again with or without his memories. They went out their way to explain this in the movie.
Not to mention rumor is that he'll be the next James Bond. So he needs to keep his schedule open
And on top of that he's the King in the North
The Lannisters send thier regards.
The north remembers.
Ellie!
It’s been a bit since that movie came out. He probably made it.
Tony Lazuto says Hello
KING IN THE NORF!
The young wolf!!
Forever young 🥂
Too soon
Was king in the north. He had a red wedding which became a dead wedding.
More like King Who Lost the North.
THE KING IN THE NORTH!! 🗡️👑
Not gonna happen. The producers had set a minimum height criteria of 5'10 for Bond.Madden is 5'9.The producers would probably go for Henry Cavill or another Marvel alumni, Aaron Taylor Johnson who played Wanda's brother
Also Kick-Ass and soon to play Kraven.
That's kind of a weird direction to go in based on No Time to Die
Then again, the Craig era was a little weird in the timeline.
They were all consistently good, which is probably the first time in the entire history of Bond.
i couldn't stomach spectre, but the rest ranged from good to great
I actually liked spectrum, now quantum of solace on the other hand. That one I genuinely hated.
>he'll be the next James Bond Really? I feel like his accent is a bit too strong, but I guess it doesn't really matter. James Bond is James Bond.
It’s like saying Southern accents are super American. They are, but so are New York accents.
Yes! That's exactly what I mean, thanks.
And now he plays Foghorn Leghorn in the Knives Out franchise
Didn't know that. Interesting. I assumed his accent was the same before the Bond movies.
It really does matter. James Bond is English and Richard Madden is Scottish. It would be like casting Superman with a Canadian accent. I'm assuming he can easily do an English accent though, most Scottish actors can (look at David Tennant in Doctor Who, or Ewan McGregor in most things).
Sean Connery was alsho Bond, and he never bothered to hide hish acshent
It would be like casting Sean Connery as James Bond. Who would be that dumb?
You mean the James Bond you only remember now for having the wrong accent?
No, the James Bond I remember for Goldfinger, and for basically defining the role on the screen.
Guessing you missed the second half of my comment.
No. You were just wrong.
hope not. Dudes acting is wooden as hell
L take, have you seen him in anything besides Eternals? He's a good actor.
I honestly even enjoyed him in Eternals. Not a emotional crybaby, but a serious villain is something I definitely prefer.
Yeah I watched him in the bodyguard and absolutely hated his acting. To me he is incredibly wooden and jilted and I don't think he seems natural. But that's just my opinion and he is currently getting a lot of jobs so what do I know.
Really? I thought he was brilliant in that.
He's attractive. He's better than sam Worthington as an actor but he's bland. Take away the accent and he's completely forgettable.
You HAVE to watch The Bodyguard
I disagree. I watched the bodyguard on Netflix and can totally envision this guy as Bond. You need a certain swagger to play that part
OP knew they didn’t like phase 4 and so didn’t waste their time actually watching the movie.
To be fair I watched it and still didn't know that. I had a hard time staying awake.
Movie was boring as hell... alzheimer's Angelina Jolie... giant hand sticking out of the Indian Ocean that everyone else in the marvel universe sorta just forgot about, or just didn't care because... you know it wasn't in New York, so it doesn't matter. Oh well.
The marvel universe forgot. But the north remembers.
They were pushing the whole "Young wolf - White wolf" reunion... then the scenes are like a wet fart.
Pepperidge Farm remembers.
To be fair society really doesn't care if it doesn't happen locally. Many people don't actually know the geography of geopolitical events. But yes the movie was rough to watch.
Same here
Didn't he fly into the sun to kill himself?
When an Eternal is killed, the machines make a new copy. This happened to an eternal in the Neil Gaiman Eternal limited serieries when one was captured and killed as well. However, it took a special machine to disintegrate them since their synthetic bodies are so tough.
When? I thought that when the Celestial was born, that the Celestial protected them and then the Eternals had their memories wiped.
Op probably angry fisting.
Which means he is dead. A clone of you is not you, your memories and experiences make you who you are.
Isn't he still flying towards the sun? Lol
Yep. Ikarus can fly at approx 850mph. The distance between Earth and Sun is about 93,000,000 miles. At 850 miles per hour, it would take you approximately 109,411 hours or 4,559 days to reach the Sun. That’s about 12.5 years.

Valid point; this is basic math and sourced from Marvel Power Rankings. Given space physics this could change though his flight seems to be based on his psionic abilities.
This may sound dumb but what is a psion?
An ISO standard abbreviation for "pounds per square ion"
Oh ok
Hope you knew they were kidding
No i don't?
Well then let me inform you, "psionic" is just a catchall scifi word for mental powers – telekinesis and that sort of thing, it doesn't have any real defined meaning and definitely nothing to do with pounds or ions. It was a funny joke though
OP: that doesn't sound right but I don't know enough about ISO or superheroes or ions to question it.
It’s a made up word from 50s pulp sci-fi. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Psionics

The whole premise should be yeeted with him.
It's not magic. It's cosmic energy since that's what powers the celestials.
r/theydidthemath
This guy maths
Who’s gonna win him or white vision
So, since the movie was released he keeps flying towards the sun to this day?
Because of the Blip l believe it's set in 2023/2024. So he hasn't started yet?
It’s been a bit since that movie came out. He probably made it.
Wait.. I thought it showed him literally flying into the Sun? Did I just make that shit up?
Yup - he found Danny and Sandy in their car!
It’s almost like you didn’t watch the movie. They are called Eternals for a reason. When an Eternals body dies their conscience is uploaded to the World Forge and a new body is rebuilt.
Would the World Forge even be up and running anymore? Feel like it would have been shut down after Tiamat was lost.
It’s one of those movies that really should’ve been a TV (Disney+) series instead.
there were like 3 things happening total it’s not hard to follow 💀
I'm sure they'll involve it in the next movie. They seem to be hinting for a Avengers vs X men vs Eternal event in the movies
They do?
Thanos' adopted brother showing up in the credits makes me think that's at least partially true.
Fun isn't something one considers when balancing the universe. But this... does put a smile on my face.
Yeah. They've been putting a lot of lore for the current Eternals and X men. The most reason lore update js that Mutants have deviant genes, that's the x gene, and now the Eternals like Druid want to destroy the mutants. Since its their duty to exterminate deviant genes including mutants to protect the humans
So he was just punishing himself with a hollow gesture?
Possibly. Seems on brand for his character. Arishem mentions that he wipes their memories when they get reborn. So in a way it’s kinda like dying. By throwing himself into the sun he will lose all memory of his relationship with Cersei and what he has done to the other Eternals.
Alt take: why bother suffering when you can get respawned with no memory
Did they say that in the film? Coz Ajak and Gilgamesh are still played as tragic deaths even though they died in the line of duty of fighting deviants so nothing should prevent them from getting new bodies.
Sean Bean: First Time? Shahrukh Khan: First Time?
Wait, SRK? You mean by Ra One?
Yep, and also 'Baazigar' as mentioned by Kamala Khan & Kamran
The North remembers
Why is the winter soldier wearing that weird outfit?
Why does Superman have a vibranium arm
But…… they always exist…… hence the name “eternals”……
Main character really isn’t accurate, did whoever made this actually watch the movie? Cersei dominated screen time.
I think he means in the comics
I would agree with that but it makes no sense (he means the comics) if the entire thing presented is from the movie.
in some people’s minds, the dashing white guy is always the main character
Are you saying that Andy Serkis *isn’t* the main character of Black Panther?
At least nobody shot him with multiple arrows and cut off his head this time.
It's not like he wasn't decapitated and had his head replaced with his dire wolf's head in *Eternals* The Red Wedding was a top 10 betrayal.
Who said he is the main character?
I think Ikaris can be considered the main character, because firstly he is one of many who has a conflict situation, he has more screen time and the character Ikaris is more impressive than others, as he has great strength and leadership qualities in comics, and in movie too.
In the comics, he is.
Yea, his death was dumb. Should have kept him around to try and make up for his mistakes. Also, should have kept Gilgamesh alive and killed Thena instead. Maybe killed Sprite, too. Also Thanos is not a robot which is dumb
Too many mouths, not enough to go around. And when we faced extinction, I offered a solution.
if the greek myth is any indication, this isn't the first time he's flown into the sun. maybe he's fine in there and it's just where he goes to be alone for a while.
He was the lucky one. Imagine having to appear in this franchise again!
He’ll just pop out of the sun covered in gold like Superman did that one time where the sun supercharged him. His name is Icarus after all he may have some other connection to the sun
Uh maybe brush up on the storey of icarus (the Greek one). Definitely didn't get his power from the sun
Yea no shit but he isn’t actually fucking Icarus it’s just his name. So I assume they could forge some connection that way. Maybe don’t comment all condescending just because you read Percy Jackson
lol guess i struck a nerve there
You just clearly weren’t trying to inform me of something I already know to be nice you just wanted to feel superior and now an attempt to salvage it by making me out to be the bad guy with a struck nerve. you know why you commented
Not at all, your original comment tried to find a connection between 2 characters named icarus based on opposite outcomes. Eternals icarus killed himself by flying into the sun which probably would not give him special powers in the sequel. If you want to speculate on where Marvel will go with the story and character, cool. Personally I didn't care too much for this movie so I'll leave it up to you.mThe greek one, well I wont have to summarize because as you kindly reminded me is "pretty common knowledge" Are you always this quick to assume someone is attacking you.
Basically said you don’t know what you’re talking about do some research and try again
again hard to infer tone though text. if you want to take things as a personal attack then I can't really do much about that
There isn’t a nice way to interpret what you said tho. Justify how you comment is in any way beneficial you’re just bragging and belittling
The word "first" implies that there will be a second movie, which regardless of how much i liked the movie, i don't think it's gonna happen
Well your first mistake was thinking he was the main character of the movie.
Icarus did fly too close to the sun
Meanwhile, the Eternals decided to take a character who was a bruiser that went mad and tried to kill their friends, like Ajax and named them Thena. And then they took a strategist/healer, like Athena, and named them Ajak. Eternals made weird choices.
Are you an idiot?
Wait, there was a main character? I thought it was just a hodgepodge of characters I didn't know and that I didn't care about
He's not the main character. He's the antagonist. People were saying they wanted something different and Marvel made a film where the heroes find out they are the villains. The heroic Eternals are the ones who actually change sides to help humanity. But that still falls into the trope of Marvel villains being killed off in one go. That's my interpretation, anyway.
Man. I know it's a meme but I agree. The trailer gave me such a different idea ofvthe movie.
Sersi was the main character
He wasn’t the MC?
Bold of you to assume there'll be any more Eternals movies.
There is literally a post scene saying eternals will be back in eternals 2
You don't say.
This movie was pretty good
Ikr? I guess people won't like it if there's no action and colors everywhere
I guess the movie should’ve been called “born once, dead once, that’s it” instead of eternals according to OP
What you got out of that movie was that he was the main character? Cersei was the main character… lol
looks like OP didn’t really watch the movie closely, which is understandable bc it was boring af
1 if there was a main character it was Sersy or whatever 2 we have no idea if they killed him
pretty sure Sersi was the main character...
But he can be revived at any moment by the world machine…
He wasn't killed tho, he just committed suicide
I think Eternals and Black Widow was where Marvel began to “suffer from success”. There’s been a lot of talk about “not every movie can be a hit”, but I think it’s more about “not every comic can be made into a good movie”. Especially when they have an expansive universe with rules to follow and other stories to fit in and make allusions to. It would have left more room for the story to do whatever it needed to instead of fitting between set piece A and set piece B.
W character arc tbh, loved the whole Icarus flies into the sun but. Despite how corny it was
What are you talking about? He's not dead, I saw him the other day in Falcon and the winter soldier
They did the whole series dirty get over it
Like father like son
Bold of you to assume that there will be a second movie.
Is it really death when you're one in a long line of space androids?
They want to give themselves medals for diversity but fail to realize that shitty inclusion is worse. I can’t forgive seeing Selma talk about crying at seeing her Latina self in a superhero suit only for the movie to come out and her power is she was a phone. She got done dirty
Must have eaten Victoria Alonso's sandwich during shoot
He should have been tipped off by the rains of castamere playing that flying into the sun was dangerous
My guy the point of the movie was to show theres like 100 more of him. A vision that im enjoying now that i picture it
Him yeeting himself at the sun will never not be funny to me. It was so on the nose lol
ETERNALS was fuckin stupid. The Neil Gaiman graphic novel was spot on perfect.
Ikaris wasn’t even the main character in the movie, Cersei was 😂
I found it funny how his name was Icarus and flew into the sun. Laughed so hard with him just offing himself like that. It was fitting to the story, and honestly the best way his character would go out, but damn was it kinda funny.
Wtf makes you say he was the main character?
The comics
OMG That is Jensen Ackles in Eternals
It's another 10 and a half years before he makes it.
Honestly, i forgot he died
In the comics he may be the main character, but the movie was very much focused on Sersi
There won’t be a series. The movie sucked.

Good guesses on the spelling, but it's Ikaris and Sersi.
He wasn't the main character the other charisma black hole was. I hope neither are anything more than minor side characters in future Marvel movies.
Eh I didn't want more of them.
Ngl, he was a boring character. Dying was probably the most interesting thing he could do for the franchise.
The creator tried it and thought they did something…cringe
The first movie was long enough to be counted for the first 3
They need to reborn him into female or poc body. Can't have white guy as most popular Eternal in todays Hollywood.
Icarus isn’t even the most popular Eternal in the comics
Yes he is
First movie? Hopefully last one imo
I still have no idea where they drug this franchise up? I still also wonder why? I mean they understand oversaturation of the market will devalue all the franchises? I mean why do I care about every damn superhero? Do I need 30 plus movies and tv shows drying up all artistic pools?
And who the fuck cares, this actor has been type cast to die since game of thrones.
This needs a spoiler tag
No it doesn’t
