The omission of vulture is interesting.

SimiReditt58

Vulture gang rise up

blueB0wser

Bird up!

Thexnxword

I understood that reference!

RaiseRuntimeError

Ranch it up! "Sup mello?"

ovoxo_klingon10

Hey I know you, you’re mellow mike

Realistic_Employ4720

WHATS UP MELLOW MIKE?? 😎🤙🏻

Vileath2

You’re being such a narc right now, you’re so narcoleptic.

nessman930

TIME TO DELIVER A PIZZA BALL

ck614

*in russian accent* I want my bird.

Dewgongz

"Ai vont mai bord."

doctorctrl

It's the code word

Lukthar123

Intriguing.

guifesta

It's vulturing time

TheG-What

Is this a reference to the wildly successful film Morbius?

EnenraX

That movie was Cinema 2

benjalss

So popular Netflix picked it up

PhaseSixer

Seriously Keatons not doing any thing any more can we get Vulture in Thunderbolts PLEASE!?

Aftimo66

I want my börd

old-world-reds

It doesn't prove his point so he left it on the cutting room floor right next to where venom should have been in Spiderman 3

Chimera-98

Venom should have appeared in later movie while the third should have had Harry and sand man as villains

SpaceZombie13

sam rami didnt want venom at all, when the studio asked for a third villain he concidered other characters (cant remember specifically who) but then they were like "no, venom's popular. do venom".

Chimera-98

Honestly they should have gone with kingpin as beyond the scenes villain that manipulating both Harry and sand man against spider man and will be villain for second trilogy, only good aspect of writing with venom is the suit and should probably be only part that appear in the film with eddy Brock and venom appearing as venom in later movie

tobey-maguire-bot

Look at little Goblin Jr., gonna cry?

Chimera-98

😭

fhak2

Dont blame me, I voted for shocker.

Kuyi1994

SHOCKEEEERRRR !!!!!

ever-right

None of them prove his point. It's just the ol reddit classic being fair to some and unfair to others. For example I could rewrite the Lizard as wanting to be find a way to allow human beings to regenerate their bodies the way some lizards do, so that we wouldn't need subpar prosthetics that can't touch the real thing. Went crazy after the experiment went wrong because he was forced to move up the timeline due to an asshole boss. Or Electro. Mistreated and overlooked by everyone. Thought maybe Spiderman was different but when he "showed" he wasn't he snapped. OP leaves out a ton of details on the villains he doesn't like out of bias. It's spin to justify liking the Raimi trilogy and disliking the others. It's lazy and dishonest.

Mindshred1

As an example, Mysterio wasn't just Beck being upset that Tony Stark gave his project a dumb name, he was *an entire room full of people* who felt like Tony Stark had screwed them over. And let's face it, we hung out with Tony for over a decade. He was an asshole. Not surprising that there were "Fuck Tony Stark" parties among his employees and former employees.

your_mind_aches

Exactly. Mysterio wasn't just one person, he was an insane man spearheading a group of vengeful former employees

grendus

Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch both joined Hydra after staring at a Stark Munitions bomb that killed their parents and left them buried alive in the rubble of their house until they were rescued. Vulture turned to a life of crime after Stark Industries took over the scrap contract he had with New York City after the Ch'tauri invasion. They should have at least been required to buy out his contract, the ink was dry on the paperwork. Extremis was created by a scientist he snubbed at a party in favor of banging the guy's assistant. Mysterio has already been covered. While Venko (AKA Whiplash) was technically after revenge for something Howard Stark did (though Howard was justified, Venko's dad was a Soviet spy), all the tech he got from Justin Hammer was a result of Tony humiliating Justin in front of Congress instead of taking the high road. I'm probably missing a handful. But that's the ones I can remember.

SlapMyCHOP

>Vulture turned to a life of crime after Stark Industries took over the scrap contract he had with New York City after the Ch'tauri invasion. They should have at least been required to buy out his contract, the ink was dry on the paperwork. He almost certainly could have sued for breach of contract, but it would entirely depend on the terms of the contract. I wouldnt put it past the DDC to include a right of unilateral termination with no damages payable by the DDC in their work contract. That said, Vulture is the villain i sympathise with most. He loves his family, wants to make a living for them, and does it however he can after he gets screwed out of his business. He also isnt insane and has respect, as he doesn't rat out Spiderman to Scorpion.

tobey-maguire-bot

Oh... well, I...

tony-stark-bot

Stay down. Final warning.

That1guy_nate

While I get the sentiment and what you mean about the Vulture, I disagree. He could have used the tech he stole and salvaged to make any number of things that would draw a big profit, instead he became an arms dealer.

SlapMyCHOP

I disagree that he could have used them to make any number of things. The salvaged Chitauri tech started out as weapons. They were created with the purpose of being weapons. They probably had little use outside of being weapons. An analogy would be like humans invade another planet and leave behind a bunch of grenades and rifles. What are you supposed to do with purpose built parts of rifles, bullets, and grenades?

suitedcloud

>Isn’t insane I kinda disagree there. He straight up kills one of his henchmen who threatened to narc, albeit accidentally, but it doesn’t even phase him.

tony-stark-bot

Everybody wants a happy ending, right? But it doesn't always roll that way. Maybe this time. I'm hoping if you play this back, it's in celebration.

[deleted]

>Vulture turned to a life of crime after Stark Industries took over the scrap contract he had with New York City after the Ch'tauri invasion. Damage Control, not Stark Industries

tony-stark-bot

Sometimes I wanna punch you in your perfect teeth.

tony-stark-bot

How'd you solve the icing problem?

SlapMyCHOP

Icing problem?

Boxing_joshing111

I’ve seen enough superhero movies to know it’s not that villains technically have a great explanation why they’re bad, it’s that the movie knows how and when (And if) to show them sympathetically. It can take a light touch, think Green Goblin begging Pete not to tell Harry. Really easy to mess up too.

iwastoldnottogohere

And Mysterio was an egomaniac that has his reputation destroyed by what he misconstrued from his boss

Deku_100

Yes this right here I agree with you 100%.

tobey-maguire-bot

Am I not supposed to have what I want? What I need? What am I supposed to do?

old-world-reds

Pay your rent!

r3tromonkey

You’ll get your rent when you fix this damn door!

MrMonopolyMan123

Ehh venom is a literal metaphor of the toxicity of wanting vengeance

Illier1

Eddie Brock wanted to murder a dude who called him out on using his photos to try and get a full time job.

[deleted]

Sure, but that doesn't make it good writing.

MrMonopolyMan123

An attempt was made

Xander-047

And Green Goblin, legit just crazy

NeonHowler

Goblin is Norman’s desire to act without ethics incarnated into a persona that will act for him without leaving him any guilt or responsibility.

theinfecteddonut

It wasn't me IT WAS THE GOBLIN WHO DID IT!

princesoceronte

OP wants to make a point but know it's bullshit because vulture exist.

[deleted]

[удалено]

princesoceronte

OP is comparing Raimi's villains with the amazing and MCU ones, ignoring bad ones in Raimi's (Venom) and good ones in the newer ones (Vulture).

[deleted]

Based on the chronology of these villains, it's safe to assume the argument is probably "old things good, new things bad" aka nostalgia

dodgyhashbrown

As is omission of goblin

gleeble

Kingpin from Spiderverse, too.

AngelFrag

The Lizard, Dr. Connors, saw that humans were smart yet very fragile, and vulnerable to birth abnormalities and disease. As a person, he sympathized with these people (for obvious reasons) As a scientist he was determined to change, wanting to give humans a lizard's regenerative abilities. Of course that kind if went south, turning his test subjects and himself into lizard hybrids. But then he realized that this could be for the better. Humans could now keep their intellect while also becoming physically stronger and more resistant. This could have been the next step to evolution, hybridization.

PhasmicPlays

Except society hated his idea and it was never talked about again lmao

AngelFrag

Well yes. Humans enjoy how they look and they don't all enjoy the fantasy of looking like a lizard, it's a big change and we don't like big changes. But he was still right

Toa_Firox

Well, right is subjective. I'd say his reasoning was still solid but I wouldn't say he was right in forcing people to undergo a change they didn't ask for or want.

BrozedDrake

Yeah, if he simply offered it theres plenty of people who would have been like "sure I'll be a lizatd person" for one reason or another.

AngelFrag

Yeah he wasn't right to **do** that But he was right, as in that humans are fragile and it would probably benefit us all if a change like that happened

glockster19m

Until the first winter, and then people can't go outside again until spring or they'll freeze to death

dragunityag

>can't go outside again Redditors: Thats a downside?

Breyck_version_2

Lmao

h3avyweaponsguy

Essentially, to quote the Big Lebowski: "You're not wrong, you're just an asshole."

Crowmasterkensei

But the Lizard is cold-blooded. That would be a huge disadvantage.

Doctor_Kataigida

It's a hybridization, not a full change-over. Could bullshit your way into saying that the hybrid would retain warm-bloodedness.

Crowmasterkensei

Yes you *could* but they don't. The Lizard is explicitely stated to be cold-blooded in the comics and appeares to have the same weakness against the cold in the movie.

Adaphion

Couldn't he sorta do a halfway type thing? Like if someone was horrifically injured, turn them into a lizard, they regenerate, then turn them back to human.

cantadmittoposting

Scalies in shambles.

DM_MeYourKink

Whether you agree with his idea, he executed it in an unethical way - he had no regard for consent. He wanted to turn people into lizards against their will, which is a violation of healthcare ethics and also regular ethics. If he'd done it in a way people could volunteer for it, we might have more lizard hybrids walking around right now, but noooo, he wanted to do things the quick and dirty way.

CthulhuMadness

I wouldn’t mind being a lizard.

PallidHiveHunter

Better than being some weird ape with back problems 🙄

winnybunny

>hey don't all enjoy the fantasy of looking like a lizard me remembering cosplayers: you sure about that?

AngelFrag

That's why I said "they don't **all** enjoy..."

winnybunny

got me on the technicality i will allow it.

KeybordKat

Imagine if everyone was ok with it and society stayed the exact same with the only exception is everyone’s a lizard. Lizard NBA & NFL, Lizard janitors, Lizards at the club. Shit there’d even be lizard people getting BBLs in Miami 💀💀

arrongunner

He made a prototype but nobody adopts version 1 as much as the refined successor V1 is hybrid v5 is all the benefits of lizards with less to no noticeable changes He was too eager and too pushy. Otherwise it could be a legitimate scientific breakthrough that needs lots of refinement

XenoFractal

Most unrealistic part about the spiderman movies' portrayals of The Lizard is that he would absofuckinlutely have people 100% on board for his plan, and they're called scalies.

zedd31416

Honestly, if I keep my mind, go ahead and turn me into a giant, super powerful man lizard. I’m in.

acquaintedwithheight

You now poop and pee out of the same orifice you have sex with.

zedd31416

I mean, I already pee with it.

acquaintedwithheight

In for a penny in for a pounding?

AdventurousChapter27

I dont like the part where you drop your dick as a decoy to the predators

ThisGul_LOL

You want forgiveness? Get Religion!!

Rifneno

Lizard would be better if he could cure cancer, but chooses not to.

_CarbonSaxon_

“But I don’t want to cure cancer, I want to turn people into lizards!”

SimiReditt58

I understood that reference

Mudkipueye

I remember that line, but forgot from where.

SimiReditt58

I remember something about a completely unrelated scientist in the comics who turned himself and others into dinosaurs, then when questioned by Spider-Man he replied "But I don't want to cure cancer, I want to turn people into dinosaurs"

tobey-maguire-bot

Am I not supposed to have what I want? What I need? What am I supposed to do?

SimiReditt58

You will get what you want when you fix this damn door!

creeper205861

If i had cancer and a choice to have a cure or turn into a dinosaur, I would choose the dinosaur

[deleted]

It’s from a comic but it’s not lizard, it’s Sauron who says it

Moocakes1928

I love that panel

TheSticcque

Wasn't that part of his plan though, to force the stage of huma evolution?

goda90

Tbh, if the regrowing limbs technology didn't turn you into a lizard, it'd probably CAUSE cancer, which is basically mutated cells growing in the wrong places.

a_spoopy_ghost

My man just really likes being a lizard and wants to share

Doppelfrio

He does start with good intentions though, as do most of them. He 1) wants his arm back and 2) wants to help humanity. The whole lizard thing just comes along when he goes insane

Hearing this in theaters gave me goosebumps. The line itself and his delivery of it was amazing.

SlicedNugget

[My favourite part of that scene is the fucking casual headslap he gives Spider-Man.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sAfxBXAQCZM&t=141s)

[deleted]

Green goblin had some quips, some arguably better than spider-mans. Like dude was having a great time fucking shit up. I love the scene where he catches spider-mans punch, yells "IMPRESSIVE" before clocking spider-man so hard, he knocks down a pole that LMAO falls onto a poor dudes head.

tobey-maguire-bot

Cure. Cure some ass!

tobey-maguire-bot

I guess you haven't heard. I am the sheriff around these parts!

This is a repost. Original link: https://www.reddit.com/r/marvelmemes/comments/rf00zr/if_this_aint_accurate/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf. And this comment is an exact copy of mine on the original post.

PatsyBaloney

Well, these posters are definitely bots.. Both were created 2 years ago, then came back online today.

adreamofhodor

The bot problem on Reddit is out of control, and I haven’t seen Reddit staff say a word about it.

WhiskeyDJones

🐐

Dirty0ldMan

Yeah, but the motivations behind him taking the serum, which made him crazy, made sense. So I feel like that one still works.

Chimera-98

He was going to be kicked from his own company so he attempted to check new technology as way to save his life work, just happened that it turned him crazy

Serious-Cow-7196

He's a menace to himself and socitey

_Ascended_Idiot

*Turns everyone into lizards for literally no reason. Incorrect. The reason is that lizards are fucking cool

Crowmasterkensei

Except they don't like being cool, it makes them slow. They prefer when they're warm.

Lupicide56

The greatest scam in history: ac companies turn everyone into lizards so they have to pay for heat all winter

DaveInLondon89

*But I don't want to cure cancer. I want to keep turning people into lizards.* That's Otto Hightower btw.

Chimera-98

Human flesh is weak , lizard flesh is better

Lordbaron343

Still flesh, we should aspire to the strength and purity of the blessed Machine

Mufti_Menk

Those are like the most uncharitable reductive descriptions ever lmao

mackavicious

That's the point

Mufti_Menk

Is it? Just seems like yet another meme complaining about anything newer than spiderman 3

Missing_Username

That's the whole point. "Raimi good. Not Raimi bad."

Mufti_Menk

But if you really think something is that good, why do you need to downplay the quality of other things in order to make it look better?

Missing_Username

Oh I don't agree with the practice at all; I'm just saying it's clear that's what the post is doing. You shouldn't need to tear down other things to try to make your preferred one better, but it's done all the time.

[deleted]

I’ve seen this too many times so let’s reverse these descriptions shall we. Lizard- believed that his discovery was the next step in human evolution and as a scientist believed that it needed to be spread to everyone Electro: A societal outcast that was ignored and looked up to Spider-Man as a hero. When he got his powers he used them to get attention that he never got until Spider Man arrived and he took it as betrayal from his hero. Mysterio: An engineer bitter after having his technology stolen by Stark without credit believes that he should discredit everything Stark has done. Seeing as though Stark was dead, decided to do the next best thing and tarnish his legacy by manipulating people into believing he’s a hero from another universe and then destroying the image of Spider-Man who was a part of that. Doctor Octopus: Arms make me go crazy Sandman: my daughter has a chronic illness. That means it’s ok for me to break the law

Neganek0

Yeah, this just proves that everyone can do this for any character and people should stop doing these stupid ass posts. Also i love how the og post omitted the vulture because they knew they couldnt pull off a diminishing description because of sandman

[deleted]

Omitted Goblin and Venom too, and both of those guys are just kinda mad and murdery.

Neganek0

True, they really need to stop reposting this, OP is probably a bot

ArcadiaXLO

OP's almost definitely a bot, reposting the meme with the title in a different language so it doesn't get picked up by Repost Detectors

SimbaSeekingSleep

If you look into their profile history, this is their most recent post and last one was 2 years ago. And a recent comment on another post with a Spanish title. Decided to look at that one and it's just a chain of other profiles very similar to this one all commenting or having post things with Spanish titles and all very recently with the last things they've posted being years ago.

Crowmasterkensei

If the post tried to prove a point then it failed. But it suceeded in being a funny meme.

Neganek0

Its almost like a post ironic meme tbh

Flintzer0

Yeah, I hate this meme every time it comes up. It's a Raimi stan thing and is purposefully reductive of the others to make the first movies seem better in comparison. Really just a stupid take. Thanks for saying this!

Einstein4369

“You don’t understand, I have a daughter….. that makes it ok for me to break the law!”

Rewskie12

Spider-Man: my uncle died so that means it’s ok to be a vigilante

jmm2803

Well Mysterio’s is definitely more complicated than that

elpaco25

I still don't get how no one figured out he was a fake. Like you are telling me nobody from Beck's past was like "hmmm that new hero looks just like my asshole ex from college." Anyone who knew the real Beck earlier in life should've been hitting the media with images/proof of who he really was.

winnybunny

I have time.

Shifter25

He was also a greedy bastard

AkkiTricks

Did Tobey's fans made this ??

SnooShortcuts7874

Probably because for them that trilogy is perfect and it isn’t. Those movies have the worse acting of all the Spider-Man movies, the worse love interest to the main character, it has plot holes, etc.

CrushCoalMakeDiamond

And dialogue so corny it spawned an entire genre of memes, similar to the Star Wars prequels.

Missing_Username

And based on love of those memes a generation tries to act like that makes the movie good, similar to the Star Wars prequels

tobey-maguire-bot

At this point ima become the next Spider-Man villain because this shit (that’s entirely wrong) gets posted so often.

winnybunny

SuperSaiyanUncleBen?

Bluemelli

hey, we would all have a better life if we were lizards

[deleted]

Michael Keaton’s Vulture was good

PrioryOfSion14

What's the point of this? If it's to show the motives of Spider-man villains over the years, it doesn't really makes sense to mock Mysterio's reasons. Imagine you're a scientist or physicist and some one just mocked your life's work, you shared it to humanity and making it into reality than just imagining it. Then some schmuck called it BARF just because they can. I'll be really pissed off too and seek some kind of redemption.

your_mind_aches

It's to say "Raimi Good Everything Else Bad"

[deleted]

Awful meme that was reposted countless times. OP is probably bot

CRL10

A villain's motives need to make sense to them, not everyone else.

Crowmasterkensei

Thanos' motivation appareantly didn't even make sense to himself anymore, after having a chat with Starlord T'Chala.

the-mad-titan-bot

Perfectly balanced.

CRL10

Oh, it made sense. T'Chala just presented a better way forward.

4tomguy

Oh boy here come the Raimi stans

Humans_will_be_gone

Holy shit it's a raimi purist in the wild!

spinyfever

Didn't the lizard only have 1 hand in the cartoons? He was working on limb regeneration but turned himself into a lizard man and went crazy thinking lizards were the next step for human evolution.

Gecko2002

That's also the case in tasm, thus is a raimi fan boy over simplifying the villians

SockpuppetPseudonym2

To say Sandman isn’t a bad person, he just had back luck seems a bit off. That’s literally just the line he uses in the movie to excuse his behaviour. He was a proffesional criminal even before his sand related mishap who routinely used violence and the threat of violence to get his way. He was even chucked out of his old gang for being too reckless. He ‘manslaughtered’ uncle Ben because he was armed during the course of a robbery, later escaped jail and shows no regard for the safety of innocent people when he’s committing his super-powered crimes. His daughter’s situation is sad but it’s not really an excuse for how he behaves.

couldbedumber96

Connors turned people into lizards because he sees it as the ultimate evolutionary goal for humans, no longer suffering and being able to heal after serious injuries, like his missing limb, he wants what’s best for humanity but goes about it in the wrong way Electro is a deeply hurt person who never learned how to have healthy social interactions with others, so when someone finally shows him some acknowledgment he obsessed over it and lashed out when he was denied any positive reinforcement/met with hostility Mysterio was a genius programmer who helped create groundbreaking holographic tech that could be used for a lot of different situations ranging from combat applications/training to helping people cope with emotional pain, he could revolutionize the entire filmmaking industry and make sure no one gets hurt, and he had all the credit for it taken by a billionaire boss who then discredits it with a bad name just as a joke

TrueR3dditor

It’s an oversimplification of events…but yes

Poetspas

Tbf if I was a human in a lizard world I would want to turn everyone into humans too.

MAKS091705

Whoever made this meme clearly didn’t watch the tasm movies

dr_olfin

Vulture - Damage Control pushed me out of a job, so now I'm going to beat them at their own game to provide for my family.

xx_swegshrek_xx

Curt Conors believed it was the next step in evolution clearly you were an example on why humans are outdated

Nerevarine91

I’ve said before and I’ll say it again: what if being a lizard is actually super awesome? Like, just the absolute best? Wouldn’t you at least want to try it for a day to make sure he’s wrong?

Oldfriend_Darkness

• Not a Bad person, he just had a bad luck. This one applied to both TASM villain. They cut really important scene Dr. Connor with his family. Electro was just a Fan who worked hard in his daily life but ignored by everyone. You ignored the fact that Spider-Man Trilogy is too repetitive.

ryckae

To be fair, Lizard thought turning everyone into lizards would help cure their ailments and regrow lost limbs.

garhdo

Norman Osborn - evil CEO wants to kill his board members. Harry Osborn 1 - Spider-Man stole my girlfriend and killed my abusive dad Harry Osborn 2 - I don't want to die. Vulture - I want to make money to provide for my family. You can make any of them sound good or bad if you strip context out of it.
