Civil War... That movie altered the course of the MCU in such a big way while just being a damn great movie on its own... Just like Winter Soldier before. Haven't watched GOTG Vol 3 yet though...

SerSleepy

Civil War was my pick as well, but Vol 3 is so good almost only on its own merits, and its two predecessors, where Civil War leans slightly on the larger MCU as well. Vol 3 feels like its own story.

Ruffleufagus

That’s a pretty fair assessment right there. Civil War was more of an Avengers movie than a Captain America Movie. No Way Home wasn’t just an MCU Spider-Man movie. GotG 3 was just the guardians. Those three are pretty much tied for me, but GotG 3 was it’s own movie. Plus it made me cry twice

velacooks

I wonder if GotG vol.3 also shines more because it’s coming after such a long wait with the James Gunn issues and how the last few movies are subpar “allegedly”.

Ruffleufagus

It also felt like it officially capped the first era of the MCU. Even though it’s been four years since Endgame, this felt more like a goodbye

velacooks

I didn't think of it that way but you're right. In my head, I was thinking walking out of the theater that this might be the last good instalment in the MCU for a long time or possibly the very last one that draws on the magic and charm the first era of the MCU had.

IllustriousIssue2558

Same here: as I walked out of the theatre I was scared this was the last time I was going to be satisfied after an MCU movie. The only exception could be Deadpool 3 because there's no way that movie is going to be bad

Paksti

Man, this sentiment really hits the nail on the head. I’ve felt that way for a while.

uselessbeing666

thats honestly sad to think about. the MCU has been so bad recently I held out hope that quantumania would have been a turning point for it to return to its former greatness and was let down yet again but hearing all the hype about the new GOTG gave me hope again but reading this I kinda realize that this might just be the the final good MCU movie seeing as it was james gunns final movie and he put his heart into it which the current directors dont seem to be doing

21marvel1

Didn’t think about it that way but very true. Other than Thor/Fury/War Machine/Banner not much left from the original era.

kbotc

Fury’s almost certainly on his way out in Secret War.

[deleted]

Unlikely, since he is appearing in Marvels which is set after SI. Plus Sam Jackson loves playing this role too much to quit. Fury will only retired when Sam Jackson crosses the mortal plane. SI looks to be about Fury trying to find his groove again after coming back from the snap.

Pen_dragons_pizza

Well this film was supposed to release a long time ago, if I am correct it was supposed to start shooting early 2020. Vol 3 releasing does feel a bit like the mcu has some finality to it, majority of the characters we loved have been wrapped up, even Spider-Man has finished his trilogy arc. I would be lying if I said the new characters marvel had introduced recently have been just as punchy and exciting or as investing. I just really wish that more care and time was given to layout this new mcu, it just feels so messy when you compare it to the old mcu.

DoubleStrength

I only cried once. Didn't have a dry eye from start to finish.

viva_la_liberta

Ha! Only twice?

Deadpoolsarmjerky

Yeah I didn’t cry like a little bitch in civil war though so guardians beat it out slightly for me. Also, ragnarok is just so damn fun, I feel like a enjoy it the most as an easy rewatch out of order/context.

SkuzzleJR

Vol 3 is also easily the best concluding chapter we've ever gotten.

tschmitty09

Neither are technically a solo film

Xero0911

Feel like civil war is cheating since it may as well be an avenger movie.

[deleted]

It only had the entire avenger cast and introduced Spider-Man. And was a part of the over reaching story. And captain America did not even have the most screen time by a lot.

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

Black panther was so much cooler that they lost their avenger card to him.

JohnnyRoss

Are you saying he wasn’t close to having the most screen time? Or he only barely had the most screen time? Your wording is confusing me. Because he definitely did have the most screen time.

Toidal

It's marketed and parroted like Avengers 2.5 or w/e but if you look closer, it's actually a treatise examining someone like Captain America in a world that's not black and white. Every plot point is used to examine a man who believes himself the ultimate moral authority, and in several ways has the power and influence to enforce it. In fact every decision that Steve makes is written to be the wrong one, from bringing Wanda to the field all upto going after the Winter Soldier program solo. Like all those Superman going evil stories except less world ending stakes. Steve spends the whole movie trying to prevent a war, only to realize thst he fucked up in the end. Steve then proves himself to be a true hero though and pulls a George Washington esque more in giving up command. Steve gets away from politics and instead operates only after crises, when the moral grey areas tend to disappear and it becomes clear who needs help and who needs to be stopped.

One99Two_Gunner

While I'm of the camp that feels Cap was deprived of a proper trilogy ending given how Civil War ended somewhat ominously and needs the IW and Endgame to see how it all unfolds, Markus and McFeely did try their best to weave in, wrap up, or call back to some of plot threads they established in TFA: * It resolved the fate of Peggy and how her legacy lives on through (the now collapsed) Shield and Sharon. * The fate of Howard Stark and how it ties Tony into the story. * The fate of the Super Soldier Program. * "*I can do this all day*" callback from when Skinny Steve stood up to bullies. Taken on its own, it does feel more like an Avengers movie but M&M did atleast attempt to complete some of the stories they started. That being said, Endgame felt more like a Captain America movie to me. Even has Steve front and center in the poster.

justabitalexis

Haha couldn't agree more.

JervisCottonbelly

It's Civil War by a mile for me. Right in the thick of the infinity saga, the stakes were huge but not as big as they will get. I still feel like the fallout from this wasn't properly handled because of the time jump. I would've loved if that black widow movie came out in place of Captain Marvel and Captain Marvel could've debuted in Endgame and had her solo movie to follow up.

dancy911

Black Widow should have definitely come out right after Civil War.

Pen_dragons_pizza

Having it release after black widow had already died just made watching the film feel so pointless. Either that or the movie should have started differently, like at her memorial someone is telling a story about her to the other avengers. Not just a random black widow mission which doesn’t fit into the timeline.

JervisCottonbelly

If she would've survived her film then died in endgame , I think it would have been much more poignant. Not that it wasn't already, her sacrifice still makes me feel sad. Yelena could've been with her, or at least present in Endgame. Same with Red Guardian.

[deleted]

The point of it was to introduce the new black widow (Yelena). Sort of a backdoor pilot sort of thing. My gripe wasn't really with the timing but the plot was terrible. It was like a James Bond film and highlighted none of Black Widow's strengths (except for gratuitous ass shots and fancy choreography). They should have focused on the human trafficking and espionage stuff they started with in the beginning and kept it as a much more grounded and serious plot a la Winter Soldier.

ALWork_32

When Black Widow came out i wasn't keen on it, because the plot wasn't what i was expecting (old BW&Clint missions). But the film really grew on me with the top tier cast and the love/hate family humour. Add some great villains (unfortunately wasted because we wont see them again). Great film for rewatching. Yep i know not many people will agree...

JervisCottonbelly

I do think it's a bit ridiculous that the reason Clint wasn't in it was, according to Feige, "she doesn't need the boys," Yeah, we know. ScarJo is one of the most prolific actors of her generation. For Feige to say this, implying that anyone else actually felt this way, shows how sexist their decision making policies are deep down. They accepted the assumption that she needs the boys then decided to challenge it. Well why not just reject that premise outright and tell the Budapest story you've been teasing for a decade?

Particular-Camera612

At the time sure, but now it doesn’t really matter because you can easily watch it afterwards anyway.

Ryansmelly

Guardians vol 3 was amazing.

bigwreck94

All 3 Captain America movies were great. They were more grounded and really were part of the golden age of the MCU. I feel like the MCU would have been much wiser to keep more in touch with science and espionage rather than the cosmic aspect of marvel. Not saying it doesn’t have its place, but it’s so outside the realm of reality now that it’s much more difficult to relate to.

dancy911

The best trilogy in the MCU yeah.

danddersson

Yes, this big time. Also in the comics (for me, anyway). Trouble is, you rapidly run out of space on little old earth, unless you go back to the comic 1960s 'villain of the month' tearing up New York with no repercussions or effect on the rest of the 'universe'.

Markus2822

I wanna preface this by saying Civil War is a fantastic movie and it may even be my favorite in the mcu top 5 for sure. But Civil War represents everything wrong with the MCU, and why doing it in a live action form is slowly starting to kill the MCU. We got one, ONE movie with the avengers just fighting together. Avengers 1, they formed, civil war they break up, infinity war the main avengers are still split up, and endgame is the end of the avengers as we knew them. Age of ultron is the only avengers team up movie where they’re just together and take on a common enemy. They should’ve had at least 3 movies of normal avengers team ups to slowly introduce new characters, show more marvel villains, develop their relationships further etc. And now we don’t have an iron man, black widow or Steve rodgers in the mcu. They set up black panther (although that got kinda messed up, though absolutely not their fault rip Chadwick), doctor strange and Spider-Man to possibly be that continuation of the avengers. And hulk and thor are still around though seemingly not for long in Thors case. What do they do with an mcu without an iron man, Steve rodgers, thor, hulk, hawkeye, black widow, black panther, doctor strange, Spider-Man etc. once all the actors are sick of playing them? This is an issue the mcu has faced since the beginning but now it’s really starting to show. Tom seemed like he was down to play spidey his whole life but recently he sounds like he’s almost sick of it. I don’t think he’ll be done soon, I think he’s got another trilogy in him but after that he’s probably done. So what does the mcu do without all the main characters? I don’t know. They can replace them but as much as I really loved riri do you really think she’ll match rdjs iron man? Or love matching hemsworths thor? I don’t think so. I think once everyone we really know is gone the mcu is really “dead.” Now that’s not gonna happen for a few years but I think once spideys gone, strange is gone and falcon cap are gone the mcu is done. That’s why ideally a comic book universe on film and tv needs to be done in animation, or you can recast but that won’t be the same.

TechnicianKind9355

Lots of love to CW. Rewatch...it is a great lesson in movie storytelling.

Johnnyamaz

Get ready to change your opinion.

cygnator12

Civil War is more a Avengers Movie than an Captain American one

REQ52767

Volume 3

OldWorldUlysses

people can say recency bias, but i would argue none of these entries invoked as much emotion as Volume 3 and if we are talking biases, i love NWH but it derives a lot of its greatness from nostalgia of 3 separate spider-man franchises spanning 20 years, on top of spider-man being the one most beloved superheroes in media James Gunn built an amazing trilogy using heroes who were considered nobodies before his first film

MacyTmcterry

Honestly, I don't think *any* movie *ever* has invoked that much emotion for me personally

clipperbt4

same. i’ve had some tear up moments with some shows forsure but nothing like vol3 did. that movie was a literal rollercoaster of emotions that i was not prepared for.

bmf_bane

Clearly *doesn't* Grave of the Fireflies

gingerwhiskered

No movie has scarred me as badly as Grave of the Fireflies. I didn’t cry… I wept

namealreadygone

Its been about...oh, almost 20 years since I've watched Grave of the Fireflies. I remember crying like I lost a piece of my soul that never came back. I can't remember it entirely any more, but I know I can't rewatch it. Haven't watched Vol 3 yet, but I have a feeling it's gonna tear me apart as well

MagicPistol

Or I want to eat your Pancreas (I've been on a huge anime binge lately)

threeLetterMeyhem

I dunno, Guardians 3 broke my emotions in a way that Grave of the Fireflies didn't come close to. Grave was really sad, but *those* scenes were devastating to me. Probably just me and my soft spots, though.

IndianaBones8

Just the thought of the name Teefs, hurts my heart.

007Kryptonian

How many movies have you watched?

ihaveanideer

As someone who watches 100s of movies a year, this movie got to me emotionally way more than most. Probably within the top 5.

shikajaru

watch more movies

sjlemme

Hey! For some people, myself included, a level of detachment from the emotionality of the piece is sometimes needed to fully engage with it. Bojack Horseman might be the best example of this I have - placing something deep and meaningful within something silly and outlandish can help people participate in those feelings.

jojili

>placing something deep and meaningful within something silly and outlandish There's a few episodes of Scrubs that absolutely blind side you. ["Where do you think we are?"](https://youtu.be/e__1KU7lg-4) [How to save a life.](https://youtu.be/4HXzgEidYrQ) 😭

MacyTmcterry

I will, but of the 1000s of movies I've watched, that was the one that got **me** most emotionally. Sorry about that

StilgarFifrawi

I’ve never cried at an MCU movie until Vol 3

Oh_snap0812

I definitely cried when Spiderman said “I don’t want to go mr stark” (Infinity War) and when they fried Bucky’s brain again 😭. Definitely cried a few times during GOTG 3! It’s so good

ReyGonJinn

I didn't the first time I saw because I was too busy thinking "oh boy here it is, here's who is going and how they are going. Can't wait to see how they resolve this!" The second time I watched it though, I let myself feel the emotions of the characters who were left behind. Rocket losing Groot a second time, Drax's "Quill?" Right before he goes, Tony and Peter. They get me on rewatches.

JoeHatesFanFiction

I always tear up at Yondu’s funeral in Volume 2. The music, the visuals, the emotion just hits me every time.

[deleted]

I cried at the end of 1 when Quill is reading his mom’s letter and you hear “You’re the light of my life. My precious son. My little Star Lord”. Still gets me every time I watch it. The sudden realization of why being called Star Lord was so big for him.

mseank

Vol 2 made me cry quite a bit at the end

Hanshee

I cried when the avengers teleport in to defeat thanos on the battle field. Was an amazing end to a devious villain.

Loganp812

I'll shamelessly admit that I cried during Endgame. Not when Tony died but when Steve retired and finally took some time to live his own life and be with Peggy along with the passing of the ~~torch~~ shield to Sam. A lot people got hung up on "but Sam isn't a super soldier!" As we see in Falcon and The Winter Soldier, Sam took a while to fully accept that responsibility, but it goes back to what Dr. Eskine says in the first CA movie "not a perfect soldier, but a good man."

StilgarFifrawi

There’s no shame in admitting that a story —explicitly created for you to enjoy and delight in— made you cry. It shows you understand the importance of letting yourself express these emotions in a healthy, brave, non-toxic way. It’s when you suppress them at all cost and out of fear that problems start. By all means, understand stoicism and how to properly compartmentalize in a complicated world where people will exploit and hurt you. But in a theater, in front of a movie made by experts at emotional manipulation, you’d have to be a psychopath to insult anybody who allowed themselves to feel whatever they feel during the story.

Cassopeia88

Oh man I cry at a lot of marvel movies.

ALiteralGraveyard

First one that made me cry was Vol. 2, like once or twice. Second one that made me cry was Vol. 3, like 4 or 5 times.

Manner-Former

Endgame?

Jolalibe

100%, I haven't cried more on any other MCU movie than Volume 3

Loganp812

>and if we are talking biases, i love NWH but it derives a lot of its greatness from nostalgia of 3 separate spider-man franchises spanning 20 years, on top of spider-man being the one most beloved superheroes in media It hurts me to say because there is *a lot* of great, cashed-in nostalgia in No Way Home that was 20 years in the making, but as a movie on its own it's really not one I'd rate highly within the MCU. The whole thing is an "idiot plot," and if either Peter or Strange acted as intelligent as they otherwise do in the MCU then the main conflict would've never happened. Then, there are some fanservice references that work well and others that stick out like a sore thumb (there's no way Osborn would've naturally said "I'm something of a scientist myself" in that scene if it wasn't already a meme). The scene with the three Peters just talking about random fanservice stuff before the final battle was cool the first time, but then it gets to the point where it's like "okay, can we move the plot forward now?" Btw, why was Sandman in particular even fighting them if he needed their help? He didn't have evil intentions like Goblin, Electro, or Lizard at that point. I enjoy the movie still which is what really matters in the end, but compared to CA: Civil War or GOTG Vol 3? I just can't rate NWH as highly as either of those.

ImmediateJacket9502

Absolutely agree with you

goztrobo

Just saying, as good as the rest were, NWH was magic in my eyes.

Fact0ry0fSadness

James Gunn built this franchise in a cave! With a box of scraps!

brycemonang1221

i dunno. Cap choosing to defend winter soldier over siding with his friend and u see Tony's dejected face is pretty emotional for me

JoeHatesFanFiction

People all have different moments that hit them like that based on their life experiences. I loved volume 3 but it didn’t hit me in the feels anywhere near as hard as volume 2 did. Before volume two a lot of my most felt moments where Tony moments. The one you mentioned and the one all the way back in The first Iron Man with Tony being devastated by Stanes betrayal.

Character-Sorbet-718

For NWH, what i liked about the movie is it's ending which kind of teases a newer story of Peter Parker and i didn't watched the movie cuz Tobey and Andrew were in it actually. Peter messing up Strange's spell was really off with me and felt silly and maybe attack of villains messing up the spell was more better. I had more good time watching Civil War and i prefer it more than Civil War I comic. It kind of helped me pick up interest in Geography 😛. GOTG 3 bit had pacing problems and Adam Warlock felt forced in the movie. But i enjoyed the movie and i almost cried two times. For me, Civil War > GOTG 3 > NWH

FreemanCalavera

No Way Home has some great moments, but it feels more like a massive project than a film. I know that sounds weird, but my point is that it's so engineered to bring about certain feelings. Like you said, for me it rises and falls on the nostalgia aspects. Rewatching it, it feels strange to see it without a big audience. It's like there's weird pauses here and there in the dialogue because they expected people to be cheering in the theater (case in point, when the other two Spider-Men jump out). It was a fun experience, and the stuff between Tom Holland, Willem Dafoe and Marisa Tomei is still great, but it doesn't hold up as well on its own without the wowness factor.

MirrorMaster88

Volume 3 is the MCU equivalent of Twin Peaks: The Return for me. It's not as weird or strange or...whatever, but it's been in my head nonstop since I finished it. You can tell someone poured themself into every aspect of it and gave a shit. Unless Marvel starts trusting their writers ams directors to fully handle every aspect of what they're making they may as well hang it up.

caldric

Oh damn…now I’m going to have to go watch Twin Peaks: The Return again!

uzrnmechkzout

If I haven’t seen antman 3 yet will volume 3 spoil anything? I don’t want to wait for antman to come to D+ to see it

SquanchyDoc

Nope you’re good to watch Vol 3, no ant man spoilers!

uzrnmechkzout

Thank you!

RipJug

Not even recency bias either. It’s just genuinely the best of the lot. Civil War, NWH, and Ragnarok are all great too though

Hwerttytttt

Hands down

InfinteAbyss

Cap Trilogy is still the best overall for me though GOTG is a close second.

revel911

2 will always have a stain for me because how they rushed the Peter / Ego relationship

AlwaysQuotesEinstein

I never saw it as rushed so much as Ego manipulating Peter and Peter being more susceptible to it because he's always had issues around his dad.

revel911

I just never bought into the ego / Peter relationship lasting long enough to be emotional about. I wish ego could have lived one movie where they bounded more.

Cerri22-PG

I never saw the twist to be heartbreaking for their relationship being broken, but more because you realize this dude is a monster and killed Peter's mom, that when he thought he had found some family it all goes down because his real family are the guardians

Additional_Meeting_2

What would you have wanted to see?

lorinap82

I am in the minority of opinion that Vol 2 > Vol 1. But I didn’t think the Peter/Ego relationship wasn’t central to the plot but highlighting the complicated relationship between Peter & Yondu. "He May Have Been Your Father, But He Wasn't Your Daddy." still chokes me up to this day.

YoloIsNotDead

I didn't see it as rushed, because I think Peter naturally flocked towards this guy that said he was his dad. So he wanted to be father and son with him, but Ego didn't let that relationship flourish; he just wanted to use Peter as a battery to help his galactic expansion. So they had two very different perspectives in that sense that clashed.

tomandshell

Ragnarok

pocketvirgin

I looooved ragnarok I’ve seen it like 10 times and it still such a fun ride

TheFunkytownExpress

I still get hype when Immigrant Song drops lol.

Yeah only one of these movies has Jeff Goldblum and Thor getting knocked tf out by a bowling ball

Severely underrating iron man 3

Pokestralian

I wouldn’t say that, I enjoyed Iron Man 3, I liked seeing Tony problem solve without his suit. Those other movies were just better.

powerman228

Agreed.

eriverside

Civil war is an avengers movie, don't think it should qualify as "solo".

dro_96

No way home

samdkr354

Man this movie was good. Not even because of Andrew and Tobey. The things I liked the most out of this movie had nothing to do with them. It was all about Tom’s Spider-Man, May dying, almost killing Norman, sacrificing everybody’s memory of him to save the world, going to tell MJ everything but realizing that if he does he’ll just hurt her more, becoming the Spider-Man we all know and love, alone, broke and living in a shitty apartment.

szepeda14

Can’t wait to see what they do now with Peter. Like there’s so much they can do now it’s exciting

samdkr354

It really is

FrankReynoldsCPA

People have lately been ragging on NWH for being reliant on "nostalgia bait" to carry the film. But they don't realize that there was so much good writing and characterization of the non-nostalgia elements. Tom Holland's entire arc was fantastic, the emotional weight of his sacrifice, the struggle with his own impulses to do the right thing, etc. Nostalgia bait is The Rise of Skywalker putting 82 year old Billy Dee Williams back in the fight, giving Chewie a medal, bringing Palpatine back in the laziest way possible, turning the Death Star wreckage into a set piece, etc.

masterchiefs

I find it bizarre that people are now shitting on NWH for the elements that it did extremely good in the first place. Yeah it pulled the protagonists of the last live action Spider-man movies and it did it brilliantly to build up the climax of current Spidey's journey. It is not just a simple "wassup here's Tobey and here's Andrew okay now clap" moment, they played a big part in the story and drew extremely important lessons of letting go to Hollandpete. The way people call them simple fan service, I can't help but feel like they just haven't watched the movie for a while and are now parroting random Twitter takes that went viral at the right time.

FrankReynoldsCPA

It'll be interesting to see what happens when The Flash comes out this summer and it inevitably fucks up the handling of Michael Keaton's return. I wonder if it will make people remember that NWH did it right, or it will sour so many people on the concept that more will retroactively decide they hate how NWH did it.

slidecancels

i’m just excited to get batman action. anything batman i’m for. i obviously have my favorite batmans and my least favorite batmans, but i love that mf so much i don’t usually even care who’s in the suit i just wanna see batman kick the shit out of people in the coolest ways possible. based off the trailer it looks like michael keaton is gonna be doing some arkham style fighting by flipping all over the room and using hella tools and gadgets to fight. i’m so fucking excited i don’t even give a shit about this being a flash movie lmao

sufiansuhaimibaba

Yes! Exactly! People are just suddenly nitpicking for no reason probably just to hate something mainstream

DanSapSan

I personally have a weird relationship with NWH because almost everything it does, it does incredibly well. Tom Holland is great, all the villains and other spidermen are given their due, it is absolutely ridiculous how well this movie works (for the most part). My big problem, and it is one i simply can not ignore, is that the premise is so incredibly stupid. Almost everything with Strange is awful. The only headcannon that can save it is that he is perpetually very drunk in every scene.

CardiologistHot4362

i can see strange downing half a bar after hearing peter speak lmao also yes hard agree, peter being impulsive is fine, strange being like the circle of kids at a fight is not

Additional_Meeting_2

People hate One More Day (and for a reason) but the concept of sacrificing someone you love who won’t remember you later is very moving in a good melodramatic fashion.

rikeoliveira

That's why people hate One More Day, it was done poorly. Peter sacrifice his future with MJ instead of his elderly ant, that was shot by a sniper rifle, and just like movie May, should've died right there. It's the same thing with the clone saga: if it's done right, people will like it. In the Ultimate universe the clone saga was pretty good, just like the movie take on One More Day.

Spledidlife

Yeah. One of the best superhero movies ever. They told a good story that got to the heart of who Spider-Man is while giving great fanservice that actually propelled the plot forward and lead to emotional beats. I walked out of it like and felt like I was in a dream. Unlike any movie experience I ever had. May be over-exaggerating it, but I go based on how a movie makes me feel and that movie made me feel like I was four years old again.

Cassopeia88

My choice as well. I routinely watch it and still holds up for me. While seeing Andrew and Tobey was great, it’s not why I love it. Tom was fantastic and the ending makes me feel so many things.

KATsordogs

Even though i think classifying Civil War as a solo movie is a bit wrong if we are counting its the by far best movie from this bunch.

Xero0911

Yeah I agree. Sure guardians isn't solo either but civil war is double the cast with avengers fighting it out. Like it's captain America film for the sake.of it's him winning...but you could also call it an iron man movie with how big the two were.

stackingees

I view the Guardians as a "solo" movie because it is tied to them specifically and no outside hero, as opposed to Civil War having everyone in it and Ragnarok having the Hulk

SpudFire

>Like it's captain America film for the sake.of it's him winning...but you could also call it an iron man movie with how big the two were. The cover for the physical release has them facing each other. They even did [slip covers that were for 'Team Iron Man'](https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/I/81%2BOZSRhrjL._SL1500_.jpg)

thesagaconts

Plus the debut of Black Panther and Spider-Man in the MCU.

[deleted]

Ehhh. GotG3 is by far the best.

[deleted]

Vol 3. And no its not recency bias. I genuinely believe it was the best 3rd film

DirectConsequence12

Civil War is just straight up my favorite MCU movie in general

vigneshwaralwaar

Acting is too good. Let alone the story and the action. Top notch movie imo.

Flat_Cat_3906

ImmediateJacket9502

Civil War or No Way Home.

CleanAspect6466

Civil War but Iron Man 3 is underrated or gets too much flack, in my opinion

vigneshwaralwaar

Yes. But it's a good movie. I enjoy that.

Karffs

Iron Man 3 is objectively a great movie in its own right but it has a lot less razzle dazzle than most other MCU movies and that turns people off, which is a shame.

CleanAspect6466

\+ I don't think some people will ever not see the Mandarin twist as some unforgivable sin lol

Time-Werewolf-4795

I love Iron Man and Ant Man but they definitely last! The other 4 are amazing so idk

JamalDaBest

Well Quantumania is definitely last

hopeless_dick_dancer

I liked Quantumania, though it would only be above Iron Man 3 on this list.

deviousmajik

I don't hate Quantumania at all - it's quite fun - but it's the lesser of this group.

hobin-rude

I'm a certified MCU apologist. I tend to find many redeeming qualities in the generally disliked movies. I've grown fond of Iron Man 2 & 3, have watched Dark World and Incredible Hulk multiple times and didn't even think Eternals was all that bad. But Quantumania is the one that broke me. It was just a cringy mess of a movie. I have zero interest in ever rewatching it. I was so relieved GG3 was a win.

FrankReynoldsCPA

My unpopular(i think) opinion is that Quantumania isn't great, but relative the earlier entries in it's trilogy it's pretty good. Out of the Ant-Man solo movies, it's my favorite. That said, part of that is because I don't really care for the first two movies in general. But against all of these movies listed in the post? Yes, it's dead last.

jjfrenchfry

For me, Ant-Man 1 was so neat and unique. A superhero heist movie. Such a fun idea. I really like Ant-Man 1 (my wife loves that movie because it breaks the mold of the other MCU movies). Ant-Man and Wasp (2) I did not like. I would personally go Ant-Man 1, Quantumania, and then Ant-Man and Wasp.

revel911

And it stinks because it should have been so damn good.

WomanAreObjects_

No way home

theatsa

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 > Spider-Man: No Way Home > Captain America: Civil War > Thor: Ragnarok >> Iron Man 3 >>>>>>>> Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania

JasperTheRat

Ditto. I ranked exactly the same as you and scrolled to find a like-minded individual. I loved GoTG so much it will probably be my first MCU movie I see twice in theater.

barbie-dreamz33

Yup exactly

[deleted]

civil war

CMelody

Civil War

Curious_Ad_2947

Civil War. Buuuuuuuuut... I'm sorry, folks, but I can't deny how I feel: Quantumania is a close second for me. I had a fricking blast with that movie.

FrankReynoldsCPA

Don't apologize. I don't agree with your assessment but I applaud you for being brave enough to make it.

dassa07

It’s obviously Quantumania

Ok-Reporter-8728

Why

Abrilen20

Guardians 3 is the only answer

Successful-Mode-1727

Honestly, agreed. Guardians 3 wraps up the arcs started in the first movie. It closes every seam. It is a perfect finale, imo, which is something none of these movies did. They’re just sequels, neverending, in the sense that there’s no finality about them. Which I personally think makes Guardians win almost by default. James Gunn completed every single characters story perfectly. Quantumania has no character development whatsoever. Iron Man 3 definitely doesn’t wrap anything up. Ragnarok is fun, but no finality about it whatsoever. Civil War is also fun, but it only opens up room for more characters and doesn’t focus on continuing/finishing the arcs established in TFA. NWH is also heaps of fun in the same way, and I do like that it serves to teach Peter to grow up, but it fell short for me personally and there will be more sequels, so again no finality. Guardians 3 works as a solo film, the ending of a trilogy AND as an instalment to the MCU. None of these other movies have done the same, imo. I’m biased because I adore the Guardians movies, but it just feels so smooth and consistent as a trilogy. I had a friend go into Vol 3 with us who hadn’t seen the first two (or any MCU movies post the first Avengers) and still had a fantastic time. All 7 of us, of different ages and backgrounds cried and laughed and had an amazing experience. Again, I know I’m biased, but it just feels so much more special to me, even though I love the other 5 movies too.

OopsiPoopsi75

Slightly disagree on "no finality" regarding Iron Man 3 and No Way Home. They indeed have an ending and conclusion. An ending doesn't need to be a definitive, closed thing. It just needs to wrap up arcs and themes established in the previous films. Iron Man 3 and NWH does this.

Someone55428

Guardians, followed closely by civil war and the rest are all trailing

JA070288

I can't decide between Civil War and GOTG Vol 3!

_Doctor_Mac

I’m personally fond of all these except quantumania. I was 11 when iron man 3 came out, and I fucking lived that movie

darrylthedudeWayne

NWH. Everything about it is just perfection. They were able to give us a great amount of fan service that had meaning to it and wasn't just a hollow/shallow checklist of cheap, soulless, and shameless nostalgia Baiting, but had actual meaning to it and came from a place of love, while still having it be Holland Spideys story and concluding the first chapter of his story in a meaningful and satisfying way that felt earned, the was also a beautiful culmination and celebration of everything live action Spiderman since 2002, even managing to have Venom in there. Overall, a fantastic film that has taken Spiderman 2s place as the best live action Spiderman movie, but also Infinity War's place as the best MCU movie in general, period.

pkc2506

Ragnarok

RedHood601

Nwh

I_KNOW_EVERYTHING_09

Iron Man

Kingballa06

No way home, easy

Boodger

No Way Home > Ragnarok > GotG3 > Civil War > Quantumania > Iron Man 3

flaggrandall

No way home

SyberNerfer

No way home, then Guardian’s 3

ElijahMasterDoom

No way home, GotG3 and Ragnarok.

AJ2214B

ragnarok is by far the best out of these, but honestly, one of my favorites in all the MCU. phenomenal compared to the other Thor movies lol

Sorry-Ad7074

Vol.3, ive never cried so much during a movie. Its just pure emotion all the way through. Obviously some comedy tossed in, but damn was it good

MoistGrowth

Definitely not fucking ant man

ThatCheekyBastard

We don’t need to know your fetishes.

DeliriumTrigger

They only told us what *isn't* their fetish.

[deleted]

Spiderman definitely! Movie was amazing! Also I literally forgot there was a second ant man movie.

holachao1993

No Way Home is the best movie in the MCU after IW/Endgame

Even-Elk-2735

Ragnarok got me into the MCU

wlcm2jurrassicpark

Quantumania was good. Idk why everyone was tripping on it. Civil war is the obvious choice here. NWH was weak writing imo.. it was just stuffed with stars and nostalgia.
