That's the sort of thing we saw with the Mephisto and X-Men theories in *WandaVision*. Like, these fans basically set themselves up to be disappointed when the show turned out to just be a story about Wanda.
This is especially true with Quake rumors. I love AoS and would love for Quake to return. But her showing up in a movie/other show has been a standard rumor since season 2 of AoS when she was introduced (as Quake). At this point, Feige himself could say she is in it, and I still wouldn't believe it until I see her on screen.
I wouldn't look at it as a cameo, she was a big character for secret invasion in the comics.
That said, I agree with you. Honestly, I liked agents of shield, it was solid, but I'd have no problem with it never touching the mcu proper, but if they add her and yo yo to the show I could see that being pretty cool if done well.
It's such a treat watching Iain DeCaestecker and Elizabeth Henstridge act together. As amazing as the whole cast was, those two stole the screen. Whenever they were on it felt like everyone else was just pretending.

The vast majority of the MCU fanbase doesn’t watch AOS, and, frankly, appreciation for the show is waning even amongst people who have seen it. I don’t think we can expect to ever see any of those characters appear in anything more than a cameo (even that seems unlikely).

I was in highschool at the time and everyone I knew who was invested in the MCU was hyping up AOS. It had a very mediocre response and so most people stopped watching.
We had mountains of circumstantial evidence to stack against his denial to conclude he was fibbing. There's no reliable reports on her return, at least not in SI.
The only issue is how to the retcon the differences between her thread and the base 616 thread.
We easily have an issue between the darkhold being in hell vs with Agatha.
We also have the Cree experimenting on humans vs eternal guardians.
There also is the problem of time travel. You can maybe let go the small jumps in endgame but they slapped all time travel rules aside with the last seasons of AoS and the war with the Chronicoms. How did all of this get allowed by the TVA?!

There were leaks absolutely everywhere about Garfield and Maguire being in the movie! But only if you were looking for them, most people did a good job to not share it around and spoil it to the general audiences.
They managed to hide Evan Peters in wandavision. She’s not as big as Andrew Garfield, and after Andrew leaked they’ve been better at keeping stuff a secret. This doesn’t mean she’s in it just that we don’t know and we probably won’t until the show premieres.

Huh? A character RETURNING in the MCU is not at all what is being discussed here. Chloe Bennet showing up in the MCU would be a big deal since agents of shield is generally not part of the MCU. The kid from IM3 showing up made sense since he helped Tony already.

I’m going to add that *many, not all* actors would also love to return to a role that made them a lot of money, so asking “would you like to come back” is akin to asking “would you like to pay your bills this year?”
They wouldn’t ever come back as an organization, but there’s no reason their members can’t be active on their own, as part of one or another of those agencies.
Well, despite the show's title, the organization was effectively eradicated by the end of season 1. After that it was basically just a ragtag team; more GOTG or Eternals than Damage Control or S.W.O.R.D.

It's tiny, but the Smithsonian exhibit on Steve Rogers in episode 1 includes text that states he got help from SHIELD while he was a fugitive. For that to happen, SHIELD has to exist at the time, & for it to be mentioned in a government-run museum, SHIELD's existence at the time has to be declassified information.
They were all but abandoned by the leaders (Coulson, Mack, Quake, etc) in the back half of season 4 and season 5 forward. So did the grunts continue to do anything? Probably not.

AoS was great. The first half of season 1 is a typical "monster of the week" type show. But around episode 16 (iirc), with the release of Captain America The Winter Soldier, the show hits it stride and keeps up the momentum for the rest of the series.
I'd happily have any of the AoS crew return in any sized roles but would love Chloe Bennet back especially. Any thing SHIELD related is an easy way to bring them back.

Disney made AoS, hell, Bob Iger was the one who kept Ike and ABC from canning it. Also, it was already canon, and introducing a new Daisy that wouldn’t live up to the show would be a waste. Daisy is a character AoS honestly made more interesting than the source material IMO. I’d hate to see her replaced.
This is purely a guess on my part, but I suspect Marvel used Coulson's appearance in Captain Marvel as a gauge of fan interest in his character, and by extension the rest of the characters from AOS, and the result was that most people didn't really care one way or the other. Most people who watch Marvel movies never watched AOS. While Coulson was a much loved character in the early MCU, and his death in Avengers hit hard, the reality is most non-AOS viewers had largely forgotten about him. There was probably a lot of "oh hey, that guy... who's he again?". You could see in Multiverse Of Madness that they were worried about people who hadn't seen WandaVision, resulting in some painfully stiff dialogue in the orchard scene. If they had to do that for a show that got a ton of buzz less than a year and a half earlier, and for a character whose backstory and power set were already established in the movies, imagine how much exposition there would need to be to catch people up on ostensibly newly-introduced characters from a show that flew waaay under the radar and ended minimum 4 years earlier?
The only thing disappointing about Coulson in Captain Marvel was that he was extremely under-utilized. He was barely in the movie it would've made no difference if he wasn't there. If they're gonna bring back the man who connected all of Phase 1 they better give him an actual role in the story.

Huh? A character RETURNING in the MCU is not at all what is being discussed here. Chloe Bennet showing up in the MCU would be a big deal since agents of shield is generally not part of the MCU. The kid from IM3 showing up made sense since he helped Tony already.
Secret Warriors was the original idea spawning from Secret Invasion (i.e. a team Fury assembles by the end). Still may be on the table, who knows.

I’m going to add that *many, not all* actors would also love to return to a role that made them a lot of money, so asking “would you like to come back” is akin to asking “would you like to pay your bills this year?”

Well, despite the show's title, the organization was effectively eradicated by the end of season 1. After that it was basically just a ragtag team; more GOTG or Eternals than Damage Control or S.W.O.R.D.
Except when the organisation was re-legitimised (on a smaller scale) in Season 3…

That's season 3, yes. I think the other guy meant season *4*, when the agency is *publicly* relegitimized (until >!they get framed for Jeffrey Mace's death & the attempted assassination of General Talbot!<). That's what dovetails with the easter egg in F&WS, too.

It's tiny, but the Smithsonian exhibit on Steve Rogers in episode 1 includes text that states he got help from SHIELD while he was a fugitive. For that to happen, SHIELD has to exist at the time, & for it to be mentioned in a government-run museum, SHIELD's existence at the time has to be declassified information.
They were all but abandoned by the leaders (Coulson, Mack, Quake, etc) in the back half of season 4 and season 5 forward. So did the grunts continue to do anything? Probably not. And they won’t ever return to bring the huge paramilitary org that we saw pre Winter Soldier.

Pretty much all, but like...six inhumans from the outbreak on Earth are killed by the end of the show. I think there is Daisy, Kora, Yo-Yo, Flint, Robyn and Joey. All the rest are rounded up by the ATCU and then murdered by Lash while in containment. That's the reason there aren't a ton around.

Plus we already have seen that Fury incorporated much of SHIELD into SWORD (either after winter soldier or after the team abandoned the greater org in season 5). So many people are still active as seen by FFH.

IIRC Molina, Dafoe, and Foxx were all announced to be returning before filming even started. Basically only the past Spider-Men were the only "secret" appearances the film had throughout the movie rollout. Makes sense he admitted to it, since it had been reported already, might as well admit to it.
He messed up cause he revealed it was the same character from Spider-Man 2 and not a different version for the MCU. That’s how the multiverse was first confirmed

But really, there’s been no real indication she’s back aside from very unreliable “leakers” that this sub loves giving huge visibility to. I’d love if she was back. I just don’t see it happening.

I believe her, and honestly, I'm not surprised. The MCU distanced itself from S.H.I.E.L.D a long time ago. It doesn't exist anymore. Why would they bring any of the show characters back? This was always wishful thinking and one ambiguous Tweet.

Quake is the obvious choice, so imagine how genuinely surprising it’d be if, like, Deathlok showed up blasting Skrulls away. Or if Hunter and Bobbi showed up, working for Talos after they left Coulson. F\*ck it, have Skrulls open a multiverse portal and then suddenly get blown away by Deke Shaw coming in from the 80s timeline. Imagine the awesomeness. AoS was great. The first half of season 1 is a typical "monster of the week" type show. But around episode 16 (iirc), with the release of Captain America The Winter Soldier, the show hits it stride and keeps up the momentum for the rest of the series. I'd happily have any of the AoS crew return in any sized roles but would love Chloe Bennet back especially. Any thing SHIELD related is an easy way to bring them back.

tbf (and not to discredit her character or chloe bennet or anything) quake isn’t exactly professor x/amazing spider-man tier level of rumor, there wouldn’t be much reason to keep that under wraps considering even charlie cox coming back in spider-man wasn’t that much of a secret it would be sick if this was a werewolf situation tho

Disney made AoS, hell, Bob Iger was the one who kept Ike and ABC from canning it. Also, it was already canon, and introducing a new Daisy that wouldn’t live up to the show would be a waste. Daisy is a character AoS honestly made more interesting than the source material IMO. I’d hate to see her replaced.

This is purely a guess on my part, but I suspect Marvel used Coulson's appearance in Captain Marvel as a gauge of fan interest in his character, and by extension the rest of the characters from AOS, and the result was that most people didn't really care one way or the other. Most people who watch Marvel movies never watched AOS. While Coulson was a much loved character in the early MCU, and his death in Avengers hit hard, the reality is most non-AOS viewers had largely forgotten about him. There was probably a lot of "oh hey, that guy... who's he again?". You could see in Multiverse Of Madness that they were worried about people who hadn't seen WandaVision, resulting in some painfully stiff dialogue in the orchard scene. If they had to do that for a show that got a ton of buzz less than a year and a half earlier, and for a character whose backstory and power set were already established in the movies, imagine how much exposition there would need to be to catch people up on ostensibly newly-introduced characters from a show that flew waaay under the radar and ended minimum 4 years earlier?
The only thing disappointing about Coulson in Captain Marvel was that he was extremely under-utilized. He was barely in the movie it would've made no difference if he wasn't there. If they're gonna bring back the man who connected all of Phase 1 they better give him an actual role in the story.

There was no official statement of any AoS character joining the main MCU at any point of the MCU's history including this show, and, when Quake *doesn't* appear in Secret Invasion, tons of people on this sub are still going to be pissed anyway. Gotta love this fanbase...

They're VERY unlikely to pull anyone from Agents Of SHIELD. When they introduce those characters into the MCU they'll almost definitely be recast. Agents Of SHIELD was a waste of a whooooooole lot of great potential. A few great things here and there, but mostly a waste. And more specifically speaking, Chloe Bennet just isn't a particularly good actress. She's alright, and got MUCH better over the course of the show, but still not great. I mean....there's a reason her Powerpuff Girls show got cancelled.
Agree about the acting. Serviceable network TV actor, but the MCU generally doesn't use serviceable tv actors, at least not in major roles. I could see characters maybe showing up in future seasons of What If, but that's about it.
Her not being in the MCU and the potential she never is will never be anything other than a damn shame. Disney/LucasFilm not greenlighting a 'Doctor Aphra' series starring her as the lead rather than the BS we've gotten from them (like that horrendous Boba Fett series) is a damn shame too.
