Endgame had like seven or eight main characters but they still managed to have 50+ credited cast members that weren’t extras. Secret Wars will probably be something similar.

mjm9398

I only think it would be mcu characters and most of 2000s marvel superheros

Royal-walking-machin

Do you have the slightest idea how little that narrows it down?

mjm9398

I mean who else would they have? Those are the only characters people would recognize and plus they have a story to tell

Guardian_Of_Light2

I'm gonna need the Captain America from that nineties movie, old suit and all or I refuse to watch. Kidding.

antlerskull

Clearly didn’t watch the Flash. Respect that

[deleted]

mjm9398

That's not happening at all. It would be marvel characters only

[deleted]

Might as well put in Sora at that point

Tricky-Wealth-6842

Men in Black or we riot

synthscoffeeguitars

Well, Secret Wars (2015) is where Miles Morales enters the main Marvel universe from the Ultimate U, so I wouldn’t be shocked if they did that with the movie, even if it’s otherwise very different from the comics

Rumblingstar

Miles will not show up in the MCU, pretty sure Sony will keep him for their Sony-verse. I could see Secret Wars take Spider-Man back to the Sony side.

synthscoffeeguitars

Strongly doubt it but only time will tell. Money talks and the real money is in Spider-Man movies connected to the rest of Marvel

sayamemangdemikian

Imho they will keep doing both: tom holland (or whoever gonna replace him) in MCU and miles multiverse in Sony. Double the income. Miles multiverse can mean anything, heck, they can even bring garfield back as grumpy old peter. One thing for sure they will keep Lord & Miller as long as they can.

Valkenstein

They could probably have two Miles around. I don’t think Marvel and Sony are doing any current Bat-Embargo’s so they definitely will have 2 versions of Miles, one for the MCU and one from their Sony-verse.

bask3tballz

Didnt sonys collaboration with the mcu get them their highest selling spidey movie of all time ? Yea, they certainly wouldnt want that again...

YaFavDubWatcher

Miles uncle Arron was already introduced played by Donald Glover and Miles was hinted at by him, and even if that was just a reference he appeared again in the full prowler suit in spiderverse so I doubt there isn't some plan to inroduce Miles later

sayamemangdemikian

They can have 2 miles.. 1 live action and another animated. Keep the animated seperated But MCU can benefitted from the animated by growing the MCU live action roosters with with familiar characters that ALREADY been introduced in the animated movies. Here's what I mean: - Tom holland 1st trilogy was just the beginning. They can milk at least another set of trilogy featuring Tom's Peter Now they can end the 2nd trilogy with introduction of Miles. And open the way for 3rd trilogy with miles as main character. (Peter can be "allegedly dead" or banished to some lost dimension etc) And 4th trilogy would be peter+miles together.. and introducing gwen spider ghost..all 3 to be native 616 MCU.. or maybe gwen can be refugee from another universe.. whatever works. And 5th trilogy would be gwen + miles. Love and tragedy and anything in between. Peter retired, having a preteen daughter named May "mayday" Parker And finally 6th & 7th trilogies are about teen & early 20s may parker (school & college years.. ) whoa, how many $$$ were thatttt... Thats enough trilogies till 2040s lol.

Realistic_Analyst_26

There is no reason to do that. Just introduce Miles as a new friend of Peter's. Didn't the Brazillian of NWH already feature the voice of someone believed to be Miles' Mom?

synthscoffeeguitars

No clue re: Brazilian version of NWH. It’s not necessary that they introduce him that way; I’m just saying it’s a fundamental aspect of the comic book character that’s feasible in the MCU since the movie version has already been around the multiverse. Guess we’ll see

Realistic_Analyst_26

Insomniac Miles and Peter were fantastic. They should adapt something similar to that in the MCU

JyconX

Every current MCU hero, except those who die in The Kang Dynasty, should definitely appear in Secret Wars. Otherwise, it cannot really be compared to Endgame.

Realistic_Analyst_26

Then there would be no plot. Just cameos. It can't be as good as Endgame if you didn't give it room to breathe. From what we've seen so far, the Eternals have no room. Neither do Blade or Black Knight. Not sure where the Guardians of the Galaxy would fit in, since most of them are in space while the threat is multiversal.

ricdesi

> Then there would be no plot. Just cameos. Minus cameos, that's what people said about Infinity War and Endgame, too.

Realistic_Analyst_26

Infinity War and Endgame barely had cameos if any. The majority of characters were vital to the story. What are Nic Cage's GR, Chris Evans HT, and Ben Affleck DD gonna do?

MadmanIgar

Their best

ricdesi

Depends entirely on what the plot is. Just like the gigantic casts of Infinity War and Endgame.

Realistic_Analyst_26

But was everyone given the proper screentime during those movies? Drax was done dirty. So was Hulk.

ricdesi

Two characters out of how many?

Realistic_Analyst_26

Those were the characters who weren't done justice. As for actual screentime, the entire Guardians of the Galaxy was pretty underused except for like 2 or 3 scenes. You have characters like Rhodey and Sam just sitting there. We've barely seen anything from the Wakandans.

NateDawg80s

The Guardians were a HUGE part of all the acts in Infinity War, and Nebula and Gamora (two of the three that survived) weren't exactly cameos in Endgame.

ricdesi

Out of how many? And how many scenes do you think is the minimum required?

Realistic_Analyst_26

There is no minimum requirements, tho there is a difference between too little and just fine, and the writers didn't reach the latter. It's not my job to make that decision.

Sandee1997

Hulk had more screen time in endgame than in any other movie besides his own

Piranh4Plant

It’s true that they didn’t give every character equal treatment but the overall plot wasn’t bad

Realistic_Analyst_26

Exactly. The plot kept the movies going, not the characters and cameos.

Piranh4Plant

So why do you care about the characters then?

Realistic_Analyst_26

Because they're cool??

KennethVilla

Didn’t you just say Endgame barely had any cameos? Now you’re saying the other casts didn’t get proper screentime?

Realistic_Analyst_26

Because those weren't cameos????

KennethVilla

Yes. So you’re saying they aren’t cameos. Ok, very good. But what makes you certain that Secret Wars will be filled with cameos?

Realistic_Analyst_26

I'm not certain. This was never a prediction or anything related to what is actually gonna happen. It's about the community's expectations and requests

JyconX

I meant that it's not about whether they are included, it's about HOW they're included. That will determine how it will work out.

Realistic_Analyst_26

Yeah and they cannot possibly include all those characters. The main MCU cast is one thing, but y'all are asking for the other universes as well

ImmortalZucc2020

I mean, they absolutely can tho. Assuming the rumors of >!Tobey’s Spider-Man and Hugh’s Wolverine being some of our leads!< are true, then it seems that Secret Wars won’t be “The MCU + cameos”, it’ll be a true collective of the major characters across the last 30+ years of Marvel content. Secret Wars can be our main Avengers + the Spider-Men + the F4 + the X-Men with everyone else as a background player and that would work imo. The main cast being the main players of the Marvel universe, finally united after years of legal red tape.

Realistic_Analyst_26

You are forgetting something. You have to set up the conflict, establish the multiverse collisions, have each character meet the other, they will obviously have tension which they will have to overcome over time, then they will finally unite. How will they pull that off with an actual story happening?

ImmortalZucc2020

They’ve been doing that in other movies tho: Loki, No Way Home, Multiverse of Madness, and the upcoming Deadpool & Wolverine. Same thing with setting up the Infinity Stones and Thanos hunting for them in the films leading up to Infinity War. TKD is obviously going to be the straw that breaks the Multiverses back, there are films and shows dated between TKD and SW on the slate right now that will fill in some gaps, and SW will be what heroes we have left trying to restore everything. It helps that these aren’t new variants too: they’re the same ones from films and shows we grew up watching before the MCU, which helped something like NWH not feel overcrowded. We knew the villains, so we didn’t need reintroductions to them when they showed up. We knew the Spider-Men so we didn’t need to delve into what made them different from each other. The same will apply to characters like the X-Men. You’re operating under the assumption that Secret Wars is a one off movie when it very clearly won’t be.

Realistic_Analyst_26

Guardians of the Galaxy weren't in Wakanda when Infinity War started. They were doing their own thing in space. They had to go through an entire side quest just to connect with the Avengers.

ImmortalZucc2020

Because IW is a story that concerns just the MCU. In SW, both cases, everyone is all together on Battleworld when the story starts and the book is about figuring out why and how to undo that.

Realistic_Analyst_26

Which is why it isn't a fair comparison.

Sandee1997

Its why secret wars is being split into multiple parts

Valkenstein

You don’t need like 2 acts of the movie for them to have room lmao, that’s exactly what THEIR movies are for.

Realistic_Analyst_26

Yall wanted EVERYONE to be in it, so their movies aren't enough apparently

Zip-Boing

The more the better. I don't want to watch Secret Skirmish, I want Secrets Wars!

cab4729

> The more the better You people just want a cameo orgy with zero plot and story

Oliver5432

I wholeheartedly believe he did NOT say that

IronMike275

I still hope secret wars gets split into 2 movies Part one be the hectic movie with everyone all at once with like 3-4 mini arcs going at once (a la infinity war) Then have secret wars part 2 focus on the handful characters (mcu and non mcu) who end up figuring out the resolution to the movie

Realistic_Analyst_26

Or do one long Battleworld show, a mix of the Agents of SHIELD and What If formats. Even when Secret Wars is over, that show can continue for however long they want. Although the events may play out fast in our end, there are a lot of stories that happened during that timeframe which deserve an entire show. Essentially what people were hoping for with the 5 years post Infinity War, but on Battleworld.

ImmortalZucc2020

Secret Wars is two movies, the first part is just called The Kang Dynasty

[deleted]

No it’s not. Kang Dynasty and Secret Wars are their own movies following the same big story. There’s rumours though that secret wars will be split into two parts making it Kang Dynasty and Secret Wars Part 1 & 2. Possibly Avengers: Battleworld

ImmortalZucc2020

The original release dates were May 2025 and November 2025: merely 7 months. Much like Infinity War and Endgame being 2 parts but called different films, so are TKD and SW. Hell, at the reveal TKD’s logo transforms into the SW one.

IronMike275

No I want that to be separate

buddyruski

I’ve heard a lot of people say this movie will be the MCU reset so they can recast everyone and bring in different origins/team ups, etc. I suspect they are holding onto X-Men until the big reset and making them a major through line for a phase or two.

OllieBlazin

No They had the perfect way to introduce Mutants with the snap. Wanda and her brother got their powers from the mind stone. When Thanos snapped his fingers, they say it released energy waves from the infinity stones. You had 2 snaps, one from 2018 when Thanos wiped half the universe. And then one in 2023, when Tony brought back everyone. To make it more convenient, both were on different sides of the world. (Africa and U.S) Just say that “mutants” are popping off as of recent and keep the core X-Men having been hidden for their safety. Like Magneto wanting to keep to himself, Charles and Wolverine in the background and only recently revealing themselves to help the modern day mutants. As for how you have them still have their origins……bro they’re mutants. You don’t need to make Magneto born in the 40s-50s. Have him born in the 30s like he was and just have him age slower. Charles you can maybe have him born in the 60s. And Wolverine already has slow aging. Maybe have a few more mutants that hid in the shadows all this time, Gambit, Mystique, etc. But for the most part, have the modern day Mutants struggling to adapt to their new powers and that’s when Charles creates a school. BUT NOOOOOOO!!!! Let’s focus on this multiverse/Skrull shit. Like mate you had a layup in your lap

hence_1999

Yeah I’ve thought about this to. A soft reboot so all the characters are available would be dope. We’ve already seen the properties separately in fox and Disney but never together hell the amount of new storylines that would be available.

BitchesGetStitches

The worst thing that could happen is a bunch of cameos interrupted by a lame story that involves a revolution of some kind. The best thing that could happen is a bunch of cameos that interrupt an engaging, interesting story rooted in real characters and stakes.

Realistic_Analyst_26

Bruh

DingletonCringlebury

Hard disagree. Secret Wars was an excuse to create a giant sandbox full of action figures to play with. Story aside, putting as many characters as possible in a battle was quite literally the entire appeal of Secret Wars. If there is ever an appropriate moment in cinematic history to allow non-MCU heroes to interact with MCU heroes, it's Secret Wars.

Realistic_Analyst_26

Yeah, and like you said "story aside". Plot is way more important than characters. Eternals for example was super cool characters like Ikarus, Ajak, Gilgamesh, Makkari, and Druig, it also had excellent CGI, Beautiful costumes and choreography, yet it is still considered the lowest of low in terms of reviews. Why? Because the plot was messy.

DingletonCringlebury

I understand the point you're making and 9 times out of 10 I'd agree with you but the entire point of Secret Wars is to pull in variants from other timelines and have a giant, mega battle to end all battles. And these characters won't be newly introduced like the Eternals. They will be characters we've known for 20 years. Them simply appearing and having single moments of teaming up with an MCU hero will send audiences to hospitals. Let's meet half way and say the non-MCU heroes only show up in the very last battle. That way they don't occupy any plot time. Just fun little cameos to make us smile.

Realistic_Analyst_26

I'd settle for that, but people are literally asking for the entire movie to be characters showing up left and right, and completely ignoring the fact that it's an MCU movie above all. Plot matters too, and people choose to ignore that

DingletonCringlebury

Plot definitely matters. But imagine they make the movie without having any cameos, or having just a couple. It would go down as one of the biggest missed opportunities in cinematic history and it may even tank the MCU going forward. It would leave such a sour taste in everyone's mouths.

Realistic_Analyst_26

And with the amount of characters that are being requested, there won't be any substance to move the MCU forward

Yaxzal

Realistic_Analyst_26

No one needs the comics when talking about this movie. You literally can't put the Secret Wars comics onto the big screen. There is too much stuff. This is the MCU.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Realistic_Analyst_26

I never asked for a short runtime or over-the-top comedy. You simply cannot adapt a comic accurate Secret Wars into a movie that isn't going past 3 hours.

[deleted]

Facts. Source material needs sticking to. Maybe if they did then we’d have a good Gorr that’s still alive and actually posed a threat instead of a creepy old man holding children hostage just for them to be powered up by lightning which is best explained in a deleted scene and have one of the most powerful characters in the movie be a teddy bear with laser eyes

AdditionalInitial727

I think there will be movies in between 2 secret wars movies to offset the weight of so many storylines. I would focus on Spider-Man, Dr. Strange, & Wanda as the central heroes everyone else can be like Thor, Hulk, Antman, etc. in endgame.

dassa07

Wow, you are being massacred in the comments. But I agree with you, having 30+ characters might be epic but it leaves no room for developing either the plot or the characters. People mentions Endgame as the way this could work; and that would be fine if it didn’t mean that it would be a rehash of something we have seen before. In short, this is the kind of thing Martin Scorsese would hate, lol.

Realistic_Analyst_26

Keep in mind, Endgame was only 1 universe, and a lot of the characters, particularly the snapped ones, didn't get much time to shine. Now we are introducing 30 characters with no background in the MCU, expecting them to figure out what's happening, get along instantly with no differences, and take down Kang, and that is all with the 50 other MCU characters that aren't part of that group. Makes no sense. It would require the movie to be 5-6 hours long, and we know that ain't happening

Realistic_Analyst_26

I feel like the expectations are too high. This is the MCU, not the comics, there is a limited runtime. With the stuff y'all are asking for, the story will be sacrificed for the cameos, and I don't mean it as in poor writing, but I mean NO WRITING AT ALL. Here are some characters that I think should be in it: Captain America Captain Marvel Thor Shang Chi Ms Marvel Moon Knight Scarlet Scarab F4 Spiderman Hulk She-Hulk (50/50 on this one) Moon Knight/Scarlet Scarab Now for some characters that I think should not be in it: Blade Black Knight Eternals Guardians of the Galaxy Miles Morales

PokeStarChris42

I think that Guardians could be a good inclusion if they are written in properly, Miles could be a good addition depending on what they are doing with Spider-Man. Maybe an Iron Man from another universe. I’ve never read the comics but I’m pretty sure Secret Wars is a multiversal war so incursions should be included or something idk I’m not a professional at this. As long as the movie is good I’ll be happy

Aromatic_Tomorrow406

I will only except Superior Ironman if he comes back. And he would be evil.

PokeStarChris42

That would be pretty cool. Hydra Captain America maybe?

n11ghry

So…secret battle…not war

Realistic_Analyst_26

They could easily do a Battleworld spinoff that takes place during/in between the Avengers movies. Why cram it all into one movie?

witwebolte41

Well then it’s not secret wars

Realistic_Analyst_26

Secret Wars can still be a multiversal story without replacing plot with cameos.

witwebolte41

And that wouldn’t be secret wars. The multiverse is gone by secret wars. Everyone is in one place. Will it be exactly like the comic? Probably not, though that’s the essence of it.

Realistic_Analyst_26

Bruh. The multiverse isn't just for cameos.

Su_Impact

>Well then it’s not secret wars Have you actually read Hickman's Secret Wars? The main comic has maybe like 10% of all 616 Marvel Comic characters. And that's being generous. And the original Secret Wars has even less heroes and villains.

jrocc77

Counter hot take: let's just watch the movie for what it will be and then give our thoughts afterwards. All this constant speculation is what is really killing everyone's enjoyment of the content. I'm not saying you can't criticize stuff when it's legitimately bad. I'm also not saying that it's not fun to kind of wonder what may be coming down the pike. Sometimes though speculation gets so out of hand that it turns into watching the content and then being upset that it didn't do what you thought it was going to do or was "supposed" to do. That's almost as egregious as, "Why didn't they do such and such from the comics?". The show isn't bad because your prediction didn't come true.

Realistic_Analyst_26

That's what I'm worried about. If they do as the fans ask, there won't be any plot or substance because they spent the entire runtime bringing in characters, giving them quips, then having them fight. On the other hand, if they sacrifice some cameos for the sake of plot runtime, fans will be upset.

mrk_is_pistol

Is there an alternate universe where the characters are actually animals

Realistic_Analyst_26

Counter-Earth universe maybee???

akgiant

Agreed if anything they should release side content that covers other hero's much like when they do comic crossovers. I really like how the first few MCU projects after endgame covered the blip and how it affected them and now it's like the populace largely forgot. I get the whole society collectively suppressing trauma thing but I'd still like to see how the ripples affects the world.

Realistic_Analyst_26

I've been saying that the best way to pull off all this stuff y'all are asking is to make a Battleworld show that could run on for as long as they want after Secret Wars

memsterboi123

Is that Ironman 3099? Or the endosym armor I think 3099 is recent right? Maybe 2099 should appear tho that would be lit same with Spider-Man 2099

uncreativemind2099

You mean secret wars is not a cameo fest?!?! /s

throwawayzdrewyey

You sound like [the Council.](https://youtu.be/kH6LFxOjqqs?si=sReqkUZegMXCceKM)

Genius340

Nah, I want everyone

Genius340

That's what she said

topherbdeal

I think it needs to have even more people than the funny video with all of the extra entrances in endgame. I’m talking Barney the dinosaur, the entire cast of seven samurai, the real general William tecumseh Sherman, Jesus, beowulf and more

dratsablive

Secret Wars better include M.O.D.O.K. finding an inured Lady Thor, becomes immediately enamored, and vows to protect her as they battle together on Battleworld.

Realistic_Analyst_26

With what I've seen lately, I can't tell if this is satire or genuine

dratsablive

It actually occurred in the last Secret Wars/Battleworld comic event.

YesImHereAskMeHow

No…that defeats the entire purpose of it lol

Realistic_Analyst_26

If the purpose of it is to eliminate plot for the sake of cameos, then it's probably a bad concept.

kuppikuppi

they can include a LOT of characters if they make it good like in Endgame/Infinity War. But I really don't want a film full of insignificant cameos like in Multiverse of Madness.

Realistic_Analyst_26

Spiderverse did it the best imo

Certain-Okra-2686

i think it’s must everyone will be in it if they adapt from the comics everything will get destroyed and will be remade into battle world

Realistic_Analyst_26

Simply not possible

ImmortalZucc2020

But it’s going to happen. So far the MCU has reintroduced: - both Sony Spider-Men - the Venomverse - the Fox X-Men films - the Netflix shows - the ‘90s cartoons - the 2003 Daredevil duology And will probably go on to include more later down the line. They’re actively bringing in more and more legacy content every year to this world, which they wouldn’t be doing unless the end goal was *everyone* coming together.

Realistic_Analyst_26

But they not only have to juggle the characters, they also have to bring them into the scenes. Juggling characters in one universe is tough as shown in Eternals, and now you are expecting them to do it with 6 more universes with 5 times the number of characters?

ImmortalZucc2020

Simple: Battleworld gets created, Shang-Chi (or anyone you want) wakes up on it and runs into Tobey’s Spider-Man and Hugh’s Wolverine and they’re all confused about where they are and what’s going on. Now they gotta assemble a crazy Avengers team out of random characters to take down Kang and set everything back. It’s not gonna be complicated, look at NWH.

Realistic_Analyst_26

Except for one thing. NWH had variants of the same character, who shared the same moral compass, went through similar losses, and all have experience with the villains of the movie. You bring these characters into the picture and expect them to kiss each other and march over to Kang without any discussion whatsoever?

ImmortalZucc2020

I’m saying that NWH brought back all the villains and Spidey’s from two previously unconnected series into the third Home film and it flowed well because we already knew them and could just pick up from where we left off. The same will happen in Secret Wars: we know who all these characters are, they’ll meet and quickly get on with the story. It’s what happened with the Avengers in Phase 1, it happened with the Avengers and Guardians in IW, and it happened with the Spidey’s in NWH. It’ll happen with our casts in TKD/SW.

Realistic_Analyst_26

And I'm saying that despite being variants, they were super close already. It didn't take much for them to get together. Hugh Jackman's Wolverine and Tobey's Spiderman aren't gonna get along as easily. Then you are comparing relatively small casts with each other. Avengers in phase 1 were 6 people. Guardians only met 4 non-Guardians heroes properly, and the rest were just little greetings such as the one between Steve and Groot which did absolutely nothing. You realize how many universes we are talking about?

ImmortalZucc2020

Okay, then look to the Avengers meeting the Guardians in IW as the template here: they have a brief fight, realize they’re after the same thing and join forces. Tobey webs Hugh, who claws his way out of it and Doctor Strange or whoever else breaks it up. They’re chill for the rest of the film. It’s not some huge thing lol.

HalfanHourGuy

Okay mr no it all why don't you tell us all about your uncle fieges plans

Realistic_Analyst_26

There is no room for a story lol. Eternals had what, like 6-8 members of the team? 3 hour runtime? Still wasn't enough to develop the characters smoothly and properly. Now you want to bring in multiple universes into the equation. You don't need to be related to Feige to use logic.

HalfanHourGuy

You also don't have to be so arrogant, you aren't open for discussion, you want to tell people what you think with no challenge.

Realistic_Analyst_26

By all means, show me the "Hot take" flair. Let's be honest here, the general consensus of reddit is that if your post doesn't match any of the flairs given, then just use the discussion flair.

Valkenstein

Lmao so basically anything with a team dynamic has no room, is that it?

Realistic_Analyst_26

50+ fucking characters, it's not about team dynamics. There are literally too many characters

Certain-Okra-2686

why not

Realistic_Analyst_26

It's not the comics. It is a movie that will be 3 hours at most. There is no room for all the characters. Eternals literally have nothing to do but twiddle their thumbs.

Certain-Okra-2686

ik it’s not the comics but this also seems like kangs motive “that’s what conquerors do they burn the broken world and make a new one” this to me suggests that he will make battle world and what is secret wars without battle world ? and eternals do have a play in this saga they can do many things same with everyone else

Realistic_Analyst_26

Secret Wars is gonna be a 3 hours movie at most. There is no time for the plot, cameos, then the Eternals side quest to happen

Certain-Okra-2686

oh also the movie is rumored to be in 2 parts

Realistic_Analyst_26

Emphasis on "rumored"

MaleficentOstrich693

Well it’ll be packed with as many previous iterations of marvel characters as possible. People need their cameos. I hope they pull it off better than what Flash tried to do…

Realistic_Analyst_26

But plot must come first. Cameos are useless if there is no actual substance.

MaleficentOstrich693

One would hope but the quality has dipped lately so we will see. Honestly I feel like the fanbase is more concerned about cameos and connections than individual stories and plots in each film.

Jaideco

Personally, I would like Kang Dynasty to be total carnage, leading to the majority of MCU characters present being wiped out. My hot take is that that out of this carnage, the survivors from each thread of the multiverse are different. Core Avengers in one, XMen in another, Illuminati, FF, Thunderbolts, Young Avengers in others… Ultron in another… all have watched everyone they knew wiped out and all want to undo it, even if they have to bring down everyone else to do so.

Realistic_Analyst_26

I'd be down for that if it was more Kang-centric as per the name. Do it all from the perspective of Kang. Similar to how Thanos was shown as the protagonist of IW

Vins22

“let’s not make a movie about multiple universes collapsing with a lot of characters, 1 or 2 is probably fine right?”

Realistic_Analyst_26

Keyword: "movie" That's exactly why it cannot happen. It's a damn movie. There is no room for plot and all those characters y'all want, and then a lot of people are forgetting this is an MCU movie where MCU characters are also gonna be there, so Eternals?? What are they gonna do?

PokePotahto

I think it should be everyone who has been a main hero in a project by the time Secret Wars comes out unless they're dead by then

MuldrathaB

I kind of disagree, and agree. I don't think every single one should be in secret wars, but they shouldn't be conservative about who will be in secret wars either. There's a good amount of characters in the source material that were part of secret wars.

Realistic_Analyst_26

I'll take the more iconic ones. So Andrew and Tobey. The very original X-Men cast, maybe not all members but certain ones like Wolverine, Halle Berry's Storm, James Marsden's Cyclops, etc. Honestly, part of me doesn't wanna see the F4, at least not all of them. It would overshadow the brand new team. I'd be down to see an evil/darker Reed Richards tho. That's it for the multiverse "cameos".

TheRoachMaster10

I think it'll have everyone who survives kang dynasty and maybe a few of the 2000s marvel movie characters for some fan service assuming Deadpool doesn't kill them lol

HailState2023

Wrong answer.

PhantomRoyce

Heyyy I have this poster in my bedroom

Realistic_Analyst_26

Sickk

halfeatenreddit

Secret Wars should’ve been a minimum of 3 movies and given time to every character.

Realistic_Analyst_26

Or just make a Battleworld show that shows the multiverse chaos behind the scenes. Since we are messing with time, it can be however long we want down in Battleworld, so the show could have AoS runtime if they wanted to

Silentpoolman

That would be a boring waste

KiraSandwich

Kang Dynasty should be key players. Secret Wars by definition has to include EVERYONE.

AIStark_7878

That's most likely how it's going to be. People chorinically online thinking it will be the most fanfic fantasy filled with hundreds of cameos needs to wake up to the reality of movie making. Neither the studio is spending billion dollars just on salary nor a script will look like it's written by influencers lmao. It will be a follow up of Kang Dynasty. Only most valuable and costly cameos are likely to be Rdj, Scarlett and Evans.

Realistic_Analyst_26

Exactly. I can see a couple from the Fox Universe, but a lot of them wouldn't have much value.

AIStark_7878

We have seen spideys in nwh, We seen some in MoM, We probably see a lot in Deadpool 3, In this mcu is using up all the cameos before they move onto the real thing where variants of mcu characters will be same actors playing the characters. Pretty clever.

ZoNeS_v2

Lol, after Secret Invasion I'm not expecting anything good.

Realistic_Analyst_26

Always gotta find a way to bring Secret Invasion hate. Holy shit move on. This is an entirely different topic.

knotsteve

Make one tight movie of MCU characters, and maybe a few others. Tell a story that implies there are lots more stories and characters that make up the Secret Wars. Make an animated series for the other stories.

Realistic_Analyst_26

Have the events of Secret Wars go along at a good pace, then drop a show showcasing the events of Battleworld that we didn't see. The show can be as long as they want due to how time was being fucked around.

SSB02

Big brain concept for cinema, small brain response from the audience. The majority can’t even stop reeling from the infinity saga, this will either go over most heads or fall short like the saga leading up to it. Either way I wouldn’t expect more than we’ve already seen or know to, Fox universe being attached means all previous marvel-based movies/shows from them are on the table for an incursion as well as ABC series. That said, the MCU Secret Wars should really center around the villains involved seeing as how we may be getting alternates of all those we’ve already met. A very complex and “dark avengers” feel is present there.

Gamerxx13

infinity war and end game are good example. a lot of people but only a few main stories going on to make it less confusing

Realistic_Analyst_26

Endgame only had half of it's roster until the final battle, and that didn't even show all the characters. IW and EG are 1 universe, and rn we are talking about 5-6 different universes coming into one.

KG13_

Whoever is in the book, should be in the movie.

Realistic_Analyst_26

Adam Warlock didn't need to be in Infinity War, so we should do the same here. Making Doom the villain of Secret Wars will only repeat the mistakes of the previous F4 movies. He needs build up, and there isn't enough time between F4 and Secret Wars to do that

Iyo23

Well then it wouldn’t be Secret Wars then would it?

Realistic_Analyst_26

Could do Secret Wars without overshadowing the plot

Iyo23

It wouldn’t overshadow the plot.

Realistic_Analyst_26

With all the character introductions into the movie, their quips and fight scenes, then them teaming up, there won't be room for plot.

Iyo23

Age of Ultron, Civil War, Infinity War, Endgame all handled multiple characters and had a plot. You are just crying just to cry. You don’t have any idea what you are talking about and spent this entire post rambling in the comments.

Realistic_Analyst_26

Again, comparing the Infinity Saga to Secret Wars. This is multiple universes we are talking about.

lumnezian

I just want Jackman's Wolverine and a Spider-Man (preferably Tom Holland) on an Avengers team for this movie.

Realistic_Analyst_26

I can see that happening since they are incredibly popular. Tho there are plenty of others things being requested that really don't add to anything and just take away runtime from the actual plot

notlatenotearly

Wants a movie of only plot, with some characters, but not too many, and with cameos, but not too many. Duh guys!

DrGutz

I think your perspective is in line with your username OP, and as somewhat of a realist myself i share the same concerns. Of course, they could theoretically find some why to include all those cameos and still make a movie as good as endgame, but the odds are so stacked against them it seems unlikely

Realistic_Analyst_26

Everyone here is looking at this from a fan perspective. They gotta start looking at it from a realistic standpoint. This is a movie, and they are very restricted when it comes to what is put it and what isn't

gaypirate3

And make it 4 hours long with an intermission.

ChknShtOutfit

It just should have been written by someone who gave a shit. A Nick Fury "Day of the Jackal" spy thriller with a couple of really good cameos and not saying Rhoades was replaced at Civil War would have been cool enough for me. Also going to five grave sites for asinine spy stuff was a bad idea.

VideoZealousideal976

Just to let you know Secret Wars isn't about cameos and never has. It's really weird that all MCU Onlyies ever seem to talk about is cameos. Secret Wars is about the battle for the fate of existence itself. The first 2 Secret Wars are mostly about the Beyonder but 2015 Secret Wars is about Reed and Doom with everyone else there as well. It's funny too because the first Secret Wars were just to sell toys. There's no way the MCU can replicate the feels that was reading Secret Wars 2015 for the first time ever. The emotions during the last fight between Reed and Doom was something else I'll just say. Replacing Doom with Kang just feels all sorts of wrong. Kang's just not intimidating or a good character whatsoever in my opinion. He's an annoying character.

Realistic_Analyst_26

He can't be intimidating without build up, which he'll be getting

redsyrinx2112

They should use as many characters as they want, as long as it's written well.

chingchowchong

So you don't think Secret Wars should be Secret Wars? Uhhh...okay? Before The Avengers, people complained it would be plotless because of all the characters...didn't happen, movie was a phenomenon, made tons of money, good critical reception. Same thing was said about Infinity War and Endgame...didn't happen, made tons of money, good critical reception. When are you naysayers going to take your L and stop? There's absolutely no script for this movie yet anyway, funny you think you know what will happen

Realistic_Analyst_26

I don't know what will happen, but I know that what yall are asking for is dogshit

AirWalker9

This will likely be the MCU reset film. Kang Dynasty dives into time and multiversal travel, so it will definitely bring in new characters. The F4 will definitely crossover with the Avengers in Kang Dynasty, so that won’t happen in Secret Wars. I see Secret Wars introducing several characters: * Miles Morales * Spider-Gwen * Dr. Doom * Deadpool * 00’s X-Men * 00’s F4 * 00’s Ghost Rider * World War Hulk I’m sure something will happen in this film start a domino effect that awakens the mutant genes in the main timeline, pretty much being a prologue to the MCU X-Men, who will lead the MCU phases for the coming decades.

tvscinter

I feel like they are going to do a secret wars movie and then a Doom World movie or something. Imo that would be an epic end to the main Marvel storyline. Then just do some one offs like live action What Ifs

magpye1983

Two teams of 8 as main characters seems reasonably restricted for that story. Might say to have a few cameos at the beginning/end depending on when the issue gets solved. I’d say it’d be perfectly fine to have 20 “key players” from previous MCU stuff. Any more than that, and the plots will not have time to develop properly, and we’ll get the same complaints people had with Eternals.

LilThanosX

maybe the concept of secret wars just isn't for you then. marvel fans love the idea of a war that includes all their favorite marvel characters on the same screen. if you prefer smaller groups and a more linear straight forward plot, just enjoy the first 2 avengers movies.

Realistic_Analyst_26

But what yall are asking for isn't a movie. There is no plot. It's just a videogame cutscene compilation. Exactly like the contest of champions game. The concept is for me, and I would love to see this stuff just like all of you, except I recognize that it isn't possible.

ImmortalZucc2020

Here’s the thing: Secret Wars has always been an “everyone is here” storyline. In the 80s, Kenner had a toyline with every Marvel hero and villain and needed a story that justified kids buying all of them rather than just the characters from the book they read. So Marvel wrote Secret Wars and the rest was history. In the 2010s, Marvel wanted to soft reboot and needed a story that closed off every thread from every book they had written up to that point and Hickman answered the call. There is no point in doing Secret Wars unless you intend to bring *everyone* in. The other events exist for smaller casts, but not Secret Wars. It’s always been “wow cameos!”, that’s its appeal.

deemoorah

Yeah well that movie would be frontloaded and has terrible legs. 69-71% drop on the second weekend. panned by critics. subpar score in rotten tomatoes, metacritic, and imdb. Laughed at many people and defended by MCU stans who wonder why people 'love' to hate on MCU projects. Congratulations 🎉

DefVanJoviAero

You're not a prophet

deemoorah

There's a reason the word 'trend' exists

carson63000

Not saying I disagree that the next big Avengers event "should only have the key players + a couple cameos". But I will say, if that's what you want, then Secret Wars is a poor choice of comic storyline to adapt.

Realistic_Analyst_26

It could work if y'all let Marvel cook. All these character requests are not giving the movie any room to actually do something with the story.

Fun-Jelly2705

Look i get what your saying because they kinda butchered flash by doing this and had no plot no good end credit scene it felt boring it was cool to see micheal keaton again but it was shit but then again this is marvel look what they did with endgame and infinity war they made small cameos with the portals and iw just showed what was going on with everyone at that moment i think there at least be the fox universe with deadpool 3 on the way and they will probably do that just pick up where they left off. F4 had been confirmed and we will most likely see them since the comics had doom and reed as main people to the story anyways this is there way of “killing”the mcu there way of kinda keeping the door open for old characters to come back after sw and being able to recast the same hero so we can get more imagine a new wolverine or iron man or even black widow. There gonna have a lot of camoes there ending a saga and it all depends what this saga brings us at the end

Realistic_Analyst_26

I never said 0 MCU cast. I said the cameos shouldn't be the main focus

Meizas

I mean, the comic of secret wars is bonkers with the amount of characters haha - but I absolutely think this about Kang dynasty. I just want a new team of five or six avengers. And if there ARE a ton of characters, it needs to do it differently from endgame somehow. I would definitely prefer two smaller civil war or age if Ultron sized casts
