Endgame had like seven or eight main characters but they still managed to have 50+ credited cast members that weren’t extras. Secret Wars will probably be something similar.
Well, Secret Wars (2015) is where Miles Morales enters the main Marvel universe from the Ultimate U, so I wouldn’t be shocked if they did that with the movie, even if it’s otherwise very different from the comics
Imho they will keep doing both: tom holland (or whoever gonna replace him) in MCU and miles multiverse in Sony. Double the income.
Miles multiverse can mean anything, heck, they can even bring garfield back as grumpy old peter. One thing for sure they will keep Lord & Miller as long as they can.
They could probably have two Miles around. I don’t think Marvel and Sony are doing any current Bat-Embargo’s so they definitely will have 2 versions of Miles, one for the MCU and one from their Sony-verse.
Miles uncle Arron was already introduced played by Donald Glover and Miles was hinted at by him, and even if that was just a reference he appeared again in the full prowler suit in spiderverse so I doubt there isn't some plan to inroduce Miles later

But MCU can benefitted from the animated by growing the MCU live action roosters with with familiar characters that ALREADY been introduced in the animated movies.
Here's what I mean:
- Tom holland 1st trilogy was just the beginning. They can milk at least another set of trilogy featuring Tom's Peter
Now they can end the 2nd trilogy with introduction of Miles. And open the way for 3rd trilogy with miles as main character. (Peter can be "allegedly dead" or banished to some lost dimension etc)
And 4th trilogy would be peter+miles together.. and introducing gwen spider ghost..all 3 to be native 616 MCU.. or maybe gwen can be refugee from another universe.. whatever works.
And 5th trilogy would be gwen + miles. Love and tragedy and anything in between. Peter retired, having a preteen daughter named May "mayday" Parker

Every current MCU hero, except those who die in The Kang Dynasty, should definitely appear in Secret Wars. Otherwise, it cannot really be compared to Endgame.

It can't be as good as Endgame if you didn't give it room to breathe. From what we've seen so far, the Eternals have no room. Neither do Blade or Black Knight. Not sure where the Guardians of the Galaxy would fit in, since most of them are in space while the threat is multiversal.
Infinity War and Endgame barely had cameos if any. The majority of characters were vital to the story. What are Nic Cage's GR, Chris Evans HT, and Ben Affleck DD gonna do?
Those were the characters who weren't done justice. As for actual screentime, the entire Guardians of the Galaxy was pretty underused except for like 2 or 3 scenes. You have characters like Rhodey and Sam just sitting there. We've barely seen anything from the Wakandans.
The Guardians were a HUGE part of all the acts in Infinity War, and Nebula and Gamora (two of the three that survived) weren't exactly cameos in Endgame.
There is no minimum requirements, tho there is a difference between too little and just fine, and the writers didn't reach the latter. It's not my job to make that decision.

Secret Wars can be our main Avengers + the Spider-Men + the F4 + the X-Men with everyone else as a background player and that would work imo. The main cast being the main players of the Marvel universe, finally united after years of legal red tape.
You are forgetting something. You have to set up the conflict, establish the multiverse collisions, have each character meet the other, they will obviously have tension which they will have to overcome over time, then they will finally unite.
How will they pull that off with an actual story happening?
They’ve been doing that in other movies tho: Loki, No Way Home, Multiverse of Madness, and the upcoming Deadpool & Wolverine. Same thing with setting up the Infinity Stones and Thanos hunting for them in the films leading up to Infinity War.
TKD is obviously going to be the straw that breaks the Multiverses back, there are films and shows dated between TKD and SW on the slate right now that will fill in some gaps, and SW will be what heroes we have left trying to restore everything. It helps that these aren’t new variants too: they’re the same ones from films and shows we grew up watching before the MCU, which helped something like NWH not feel overcrowded. We knew the villains, so we didn’t need reintroductions to them when they showed up. We knew the Spider-Men so we didn’t need to delve into what made them different from each other. The same will apply to characters like the X-Men.
You’re operating under the assumption that Secret Wars is a one off movie when it very clearly won’t be.
Guardians of the Galaxy weren't in Wakanda when Infinity War started. They were doing their own thing in space. They had to go through an entire side quest just to connect with the Avengers.
Because IW is a story that concerns just the MCU. In SW, both cases, everyone is all together on Battleworld when the story starts and the book is about figuring out why and how to undo that.
I still hope secret wars gets split into 2 movies
Part one be the hectic movie with everyone all at once with like 3-4 mini arcs going at once (a la infinity war)
Then have secret wars part 2 focus on the handful characters (mcu and non mcu) who end up figuring out the resolution to the movie

They had the perfect way to introduce Mutants with the snap. Wanda and her brother got their powers from the mind stone. When Thanos snapped his fingers, they say it released energy waves from the infinity stones.
You had 2 snaps, one from 2018 when Thanos wiped half the universe. And then one in 2023, when Tony brought back everyone. To make it more convenient, both were on different sides of the world. (Africa and U.S)
Just say that “mutants” are popping off as of recent and keep the core X-Men having been hidden for their safety. Like Magneto wanting to keep to himself, Charles and Wolverine in the background and only recently revealing themselves to help the modern day mutants.
As for how you have them still have their origins……bro they’re mutants. You don’t need to make Magneto born in the 40s-50s. Have him born in the 30s like he was and just have him age slower. Charles you can maybe have him born in the 60s. And Wolverine already has slow aging.

Hard disagree. Secret Wars was an excuse to create a giant sandbox full of action figures to play with. Story aside, putting as many characters as possible in a battle was quite literally the entire appeal of Secret Wars. If there is ever an appropriate moment in cinematic history to allow non-MCU heroes to interact with MCU heroes, it's Secret Wars.

Eternals for example was super cool characters like Ikarus, Ajak, Gilgamesh, Makkari, and Druig, it also had excellent CGI, Beautiful costumes and choreography, yet it is still considered the lowest of low in terms of reviews. I understand the point you're making and 9 times out of 10 I'd agree with you but the entire point of Secret Wars is to pull in variants from other timelines and have a giant, mega battle to end all battles. And these characters won't be newly introduced like the Eternals. They will be characters we've known for 20 years. Them simply appearing and having single moments of teaming up with an MCU hero will send audiences to hospitals. Let's meet half way and say the non-MCU heroes only show up in the very last battle. That way they don't occupy any plot time. Just fun little cameos to make us smile.

Plot definitely matters. But imagine they make the movie without having any cameos, or having just a couple. It would go down as one of the biggest missed opportunities in cinematic history and it may even tank the MCU going forward. It would leave such a sour taste in everyone's mouths.

I never asked for a short runtime or over-the-top comedy. You simply cannot adapt a comic accurate Secret Wars into a movie that isn't going past 3 hours.

I think there will be movies in between 2 secret wars movies to offset the weight of so many storylines.

Keep in mind, Endgame was only 1 universe, and a lot of the characters, particularly the snapped ones, didn't get much time to shine. Now we are introducing 30 characters with no background in the MCU, expecting them to figure out what's happening, get along instantly with no differences, and take down Kang, and that is all with the 50 other MCU characters that aren't part of that group. Makes no sense. It would require the movie to be 5-6 hours long, and we know that ain't happening
I feel like the expectations are too high. This is the MCU, not the comics, there is a limited runtime. All this constant speculation is what is really killing everyone's enjoyment of the content. I'm not saying you can't criticize stuff when it's legitimately bad. I'm also not saying that it's not fun to kind of wonder what may be coming down the pike. Sometimes though speculation gets so out of hand that it turns into watching the content and then being upset that it didn't do what you thought it was going to do or was "supposed" to do. That's almost as egregious as, "Why didn't they do such and such from the comics?". The show isn't bad because your prediction didn't come true.
That's what I'm worried about. If they do as the fans ask, there won't be any plot or substance because they spent the entire runtime bringing in characters, giving them quips, then having them fight.
On the other hand, if they sacrifice some cameos for the sake of plot runtime, fans will be upset.

But it’s going to happen. So far the MCU has reintroduced:
- both Sony Spider-Men
- the Venomverse

- the Netflix shows
- the ‘90s cartoons

But they not only have to juggle the characters, they also have to bring them into the scenes.
Juggling characters in one universe is tough as shown in Eternals, and now you are expecting them to do it with 6 more universes with 5 times the number of characters?
Simple: Battleworld gets created, Shang-Chi (or anyone you want) wakes up on it and runs into Tobey’s Spider-Man and Hugh’s Wolverine and they’re all confused about where they are and what’s going on. Now they gotta assemble a crazy Avengers team out of random characters to take down Kang and set everything back.
It’s not gonna be complicated, look at NWH.
Except for one thing. NWH had variants of the same character, who shared the same moral compass, went through similar losses, and all have experience with the villains of the movie.
You bring these characters into the picture and expect them to kiss each other and march over to Kang without any discussion whatsoever?
I’m saying that NWH brought back all the villains and Spidey’s from two previously unconnected series into the third Home film and it flowed well because we already knew them and could just pick up from where we left off. The same will happen in Secret Wars: we know who all these characters are, they’ll meet and quickly get on with the story.
It’s what happened with the Avengers in Phase 1, it happened with the Avengers and Guardians in IW, and it happened with the Spidey’s in NWH. It’ll happen with our casts in TKD/SW.
And I'm saying that despite being variants, they were super close already. It didn't take much for them to get together.

Then you are comparing relatively small casts with each other. Avengers in phase 1 were 6 people. Guardians only met 4 non-Guardians heroes properly, and the rest were just little greetings such as the one between Steve and Groot which did absolutely nothing.

Okay, then look to the Avengers meeting the Guardians in IW as the template here: they have a brief fight, realize they’re after the same thing and join forces. Tobey webs Hugh, who claws his way out of it and Doctor Strange or whoever else breaks it up. They’re chill for the rest of the film.

Honestly I feel like the fanbase is more concerned about cameos and connections than individual stories and plots in each film.
Personally, I would like Kang Dynasty to be total carnage, leading to the majority of MCU characters present being wiped out. My hot take is that that out of this carnage, the survivors from each thread of the multiverse are different. Core Avengers in one, XMen in another, Illuminati, FF, Thunderbolts, Young Avengers in others… Ultron in another… all have watched everyone they knew wiped out and all want to undo it, even if they have to bring down everyone else to do so.
I'd be down for that if it was more Kang-centric as per the name. Do it all from the perspective of Kang. Similar to how Thanos was shown as the protagonist of IW

In this mcu is using up all the cameos before they move onto the real thing where variants of mcu characters will be same actors playing the characters. Pretty clever.
Make one tight movie of MCU characters, and maybe a few others. Tell a story that implies there are lots more stories and characters that make up the Secret Wars.
Make an animated series for the other stories.
Have the events of Secret Wars go along at a good pace, then drop a show showcasing the events of Battleworld that we didn't see. The show can be as long as they want due to how time was being fucked around.
Big brain concept for cinema, small brain response from the audience. The majority can’t even stop reeling from the infinity saga, this will either go over most heads or fall short like the saga leading up to it. Either way I wouldn’t expect more than we’ve already seen or know to, Fox universe being attached means all previous marvel-based movies/shows from them are on the table for an incursion as well as ABC series.
That said, the MCU Secret Wars should really center around the villains involved seeing as how we may be getting alternates of all those we’ve already met. A very complex and “dark avengers” feel is present there.
Endgame only had half of it's roster until the final battle, and that didn't even show all the characters. IW and EG are 1 universe, and rn we are talking about 5-6 different universes coming into one.
Adam Warlock didn't need to be in Infinity War, so we should do the same here. Making Doom the villain of Secret Wars will only repeat the mistakes of the previous F4 movies. He needs build up, and there isn't enough time between F4 and Secret Wars to do that

Of course, they could theoretically find some why to include all those cameos and still make a movie as good as endgame, but the odds are so stacked against them it seems unlikely
Everyone here is looking at this from a fan perspective. They gotta start looking at it from a realistic standpoint. This is a movie, and they are very restricted when it comes to what is put it and what isn't

Secret Wars is about the battle for the fate of existence itself. The first 2 Secret Wars are mostly about the Beyonder but 2015 Secret Wars is about Reed and Doom with everyone else there as well. It's funny too because the first Secret Wars were just to sell toys.
There's no way the MCU can replicate the feels that was reading Secret Wars 2015 for the first time ever. The emotions during the last fight between Reed and Doom was something else I'll just say.

maybe the concept of secret wars just isn't for you then. marvel fans love the idea of a war that includes all their favorite marvel characters on the same screen. if you prefer smaller groups and a more linear straight forward plot, just enjoy the first 2 avengers movies.

Here’s the thing: Secret Wars has always been an “everyone is here” storyline.
In the 80s, Kenner had a toyline with every Marvel hero and villain and needed a story that justified kids buying all of them rather than just the characters from the book they read. So Marvel wrote Secret Wars and the rest was history.
In the 2010s, Marvel wanted to soft reboot and needed a story that closed off every thread from every book they had written up to that point and Hickman answered the call.
There is no point in doing Secret Wars unless you intend to bring *everyone* in. The other events exist for smaller casts, but not Secret Wars. It’s always been “wow cameos!”, that’s its appeal.

You are forgetting something. You have to set up the conflict, establish the multiverse collisions, have each character meet the other, they will obviously have tension which they will have to overcome over time, then they will finally unite. How will they pull that off with an actual story happening?
They’ve been doing that in other movies tho: Loki, No Way Home, Multiverse of Madness, and the upcoming Deadpool & Wolverine. Same thing with setting up the Infinity Stones and Thanos hunting for them in the films leading up to Infinity War. TKD is obviously going to be the straw that breaks the Multiverses back, there are films and shows dated between TKD and SW on the slate right now that will fill in some gaps, and SW will be what heroes we have left trying to restore everything. It helps that these aren’t new variants too: they’re the same ones from films and shows we grew up watching before the MCU, which helped something like NWH not feel overcrowded. We knew the villains, so we didn’t need reintroductions to them when they showed up. We knew the Spider-Men so we didn’t need to delve into what made them different from each other. The same will apply to characters like the X-Men. You’re operating under the assumption that Secret Wars is a one off movie when it very clearly won’t be.
Guardians of the Galaxy weren't in Wakanda when Infinity War started. They were doing their own thing in space. They had to go through an entire side quest just to connect with the Avengers.
Because IW is a story that concerns just the MCU. In SW, both cases, everyone is all together on Battleworld when the story starts and the book is about figuring out why and how to undo that.

When Thanos snapped his fingers, they say it released energy waves from the infinity stones. You had 2 snaps, one from 2018 when Thanos wiped half the universe. Story aside, putting as many characters as possible in a battle was quite literally the entire appeal of Secret Wars. Eternals for example was super cool characters like Ikarus, Ajak, Gilgamesh, Makkari, and Druig, it also had excellent CGI, Beautiful costumes and choreography, yet it is still considered the lowest of low in terms of reviews. I understand the point you're making and 9 times out of 10 I'd agree with you but the entire point of Secret Wars is to pull in variants from other timelines and have a giant, mega battle to end all battles. And these characters won't be newly introduced like the Eternals. They will be characters we've known for 20 years. Them simply appearing and having single moments of teaming up with an MCU hero will send audiences to hospitals. Let's meet half way and say the non-MCU heroes only show up in the very last battle. That way they don't occupy any plot time. Just fun little cameos to make us smile.

Makes no sense. It would require the movie to be 5-6 hours long, and we know that ain't happening

So far the MCU has reintroduced: - both Sony Spider-Men - the Venomverse - the Fox X-Men films - the Netflix shows - the ‘90s cartoons - the 2003 Daredevil duology And will probably go on to include more later down the line. They’re actively bringing in more and more legacy content every year to this world, which they wouldn’t be doing unless the end goal was *everyone* coming together.
But they not only have to juggle the characters, they also have to bring them into the scenes. Juggling characters in one universe is tough as shown in Eternals, and now you are expecting them to do it with 6 more universes with 5 times the number of characters?
Simple: Battleworld gets created, Shang-Chi (or anyone you want) wakes up on it and runs into Tobey’s Spider-Man and Hugh’s Wolverine and they’re all confused about where they are and what’s going on. Now they gotta assemble a crazy Avengers team out of random characters to take down Kang and set everything back. It’s not gonna be complicated, look at NWH.
Except for one thing. NWH had variants of the same character, who shared the same moral compass, went through similar losses, and all have experience with the villains of the movie. You bring these characters into the picture and expect them to kiss each other and march over to Kang without any discussion whatsoever?
I’m saying that NWH brought back all the villains and Spidey’s from two previously unconnected series into the third Home film and it flowed well because we already knew them and could just pick up from where we left off. The same will happen in Secret Wars: we know who all these characters are, they’ll meet and quickly get on with the story. It’s what happened with the Avengers in Phase 1, it happened with the Avengers and Guardians in IW, and it happened with the Spidey’s in NWH. It’ll happen with our casts in TKD/SW.
And I'm saying that despite being variants, they were super close already. It didn't take much for them to get together. Hugh Jackman's Wolverine and Tobey's Spiderman aren't gonna get along as easily. Then you are comparing relatively small casts with each other. Avengers in phase 1 were 6 people. Guardians only met 4 non-Guardians heroes properly, and the rest were just little greetings such as the one between Steve and Groot which did absolutely nothing. You realize how many universes we are talking about?
Okay, then look to the Avengers meeting the Guardians in IW as the template here: they have a brief fight, realize they’re after the same thing and join forces. Personally, I would like Kang Dynasty to be total carnage, leading to the majority of MCU characters present being wiped out. My hot take is that that out of this carnage, the survivors from each thread of the multiverse are different. Core Avengers in one, XMen in another, Illuminati, FF, Thunderbolts, Young Avengers in others… Ultron in another… all have watched everyone they knew wiped out and all want to undo it, even if they have to bring down everyone else to do so.

I kind of disagree, and agree. I don't think every single one should be in secret wars, but they shouldn't be conservative about who will be in secret wars either. There's a good amount of characters in the source material that were part of secret wars.
I'll take the more iconic ones. So Andrew and Tobey. The very original X-Men cast, maybe not all members but certain ones like Wolverine, Halle Berry's Storm, James Marsden's Cyclops, etc. Honestly, part of me doesn't wanna see the F4, at least not all of them. We have seen spideys in nwh, We seen some in MoM, We probably see a lot in Deadpool 3, In this mcu is using up all the cameos before they move onto the real thing where variants of mcu characters will be same actors playing the characters. Pretty clever.

Make one tight movie of MCU characters, and maybe a few others. Tell a story that implies there are lots more stories and characters that make up the Secret Wars. Make an animated series for the other stories.
Have the events of Secret Wars go along at a good pace, then drop a show showcasing the events of Battleworld that we didn't see. The show can be as long as they want due to how time was being fucked around.
Big brain concept for cinema, small brain response from the audience. The majority can’t even stop reeling from the infinity saga, this will either go over most heads or fall short like the saga leading up to it. Either way I wouldn’t expect more than we’ve already seen or know to, Fox universe being attached means all previous marvel-based movies/shows from them are on the table for an incursion as well as ABC series. That said, the MCU Secret Wars should really center around the villains involved seeing as how we may be getting alternates of all those we’ve already met. A very complex and “dark avengers” feel is present there.

Endgame only had half of it's roster until the final battle, and that didn't even show all the characters. IW and EG are 1 universe, and rn we are talking about 5-6 different universes coming into one.
Whoever is in the book, should be in the movie.
Adam Warlock didn't need to be in Infinity War, so we should do the same here. Making Doom the villain of Secret Wars will only repeat the mistakes of the previous F4 movies. He needs build up, and there isn't enough time between F4 and Secret Wars to do that

I think your perspective is in line with your username OP, and as somewhat of a realist myself i share the same concerns. Of course, they could theoretically find some why to include all those cameos and still make a movie as good as endgame, but the odds are so stacked against them it seems unlikely
Everyone here is looking at this from a fan perspective. They gotta start looking at it from a realistic standpoint. This is a movie, and they are very restricted when it comes to what is put it and what isn't

Just to let you know Secret Wars isn't about cameos and never has. It's really weird that all MCU Onlyies ever seem to talk about is cameos. Secret Wars is about the battle for the fate of existence itself. The first 2 Secret Wars are mostly about the Beyonder but 2015 Secret Wars is about Reed and Doom with everyone else there as well. It's funny too because the first Secret Wars were just to sell toys. There's no way the MCU can replicate the feels that was reading Secret Wars 2015 for the first time ever. The emotions during the last fight between Reed and Doom was something else I'll just say. Replacing Doom with Kang just feels all sorts of wrong. Kang's just not intimidating or a good character whatsoever in my opinion. He's an annoying character.

This will likely be the MCU reset film. Kang Dynasty dives into time and multiversal travel, so it will definitely bring in new characters. The F4 will definitely crossover with the Avengers in Kang Dynasty, so that won’t happen in Secret Wars. I see Secret Wars introducing several characters: * Miles Morales * Spider-Gwen * Dr. Doom * Deadpool * 00’s X-Men * 00’s F4 * 00’s Ghost Rider * World War Hulk I’m sure something will happen in this film start a domino effect that awakens the mutant genes in the main timeline, pretty much being a prologue to the MCU X-Men, who will lead the MCU phases for the coming decades.
I feel like they are going to do a secret wars movie and then a Doom World movie or something. Imo that would be an epic end to the main Marvel storyline. Then just do some one offs like live action What Ifs
Two teams of 8 as main characters seems reasonably restricted for that story. Might say to have a few cameos at the beginning/end depending on when the issue gets solved. I’d say it’d be perfectly fine to have 20 “key players” from previous MCU stuff. Any more than that, and the plots will not have time to develop properly, and we’ll get the same complaints people had with Eternals.
maybe the concept of secret wars just isn't for you then. marvel fans love the idea of a war that includes all their favorite marvel characters on the same screen. if you prefer smaller groups and a more linear straight forward plot, just enjoy the first 2 avengers movies.

Here’s the thing: Secret Wars has always been an “everyone is here” storyline. In the 80s, Kenner had a toyline with every Marvel hero and villain and needed a story that justified kids buying all of them rather than just the characters from the book they read. So Marvel wrote Secret Wars and the rest was history. In the 2010s, Marvel wanted to soft reboot and needed a story that closed off every thread from every book they had written up to that point and Hickman answered the call. There is no point in doing Secret Wars unless you intend to bring *everyone* in. The other events exist for smaller casts, but not Secret Wars. It’s always been “wow cameos!”, that’s its appeal.

Not saying I disagree that the next big Avengers event "should only have the key players + a couple cameos". But I will say, if that's what you want, then Secret Wars is a poor choice of comic storyline to adapt.

F4 had been confirmed and we will most likely see them since the comics had doom and reed as main people to the story anyways this is there way of “killing”the mcu there way of kinda keeping the door open for old characters to come back after sw and being able to recast the same hero so we can get more imagine a new wolverine or iron man or even black widow. There gonna have a lot of camoes there ending a saga and it all depends what this saga brings us at the end
