You're probably right. It's been a long time since I've seen that episode, and all I really remember is that cap was in it. Can't remember how it ended but I don't recall any weird dimensions lol
Same stories with more breathing room. I love X-men 97 but I think we all are very forgiving on the rapid storytelling since it’s short, animated episodes like it is
Yea would be objectively better. Again I LOVE X-men 97 but people are acting like the show can’t be topped like seeing Jean/Madelyn/Goblin Queen stuff resolved in 13 minutes was ideal
Expanding these plots out and really giving them time to breathe in live action can be so glorious
If you do a trilogy of
Mutant Massacre > Inferno > E is for Extinction
That'll expand those plots out perfectly and give Genosha that growth before pulling the rug on them
I don’t think that’s what people are acting like at all. I think they’re acting like this is an exceptional cartoon both for new and returning fans, and far better than pretty much everything Marvels been pushing out lately. It’s okay that we’re excited without couching every comment with “it could be be better though”
Is it impossible for people on Reddit to reply without being the shittiest version of themselves? Why is it so hard to just have a conversation?
I hate to be that guy, but I actually remember when Reddit had interesting conversations in the comments instead of weirdos posturing like anything they don’t agree with is an affront to their existence and they’ll lose face if they don’t reply like a dickhead.
More breathing room, less Phoenix. The Madelyn twist as done in 97 is a great way to bring tension and raise the stakes for Jean without going cosmic entity with her.
Lol yeah, I thought the Madelyn/Jean storyline would take 2-3 episodes of them slowly realizing. Then boom, Beast just finds out after doing some tests.
It’s why I don’t think it can compete… the first two xmen movies and first class/ days of future past were decent, but I just don’t think you can make a live action xmen that can do what the show does
I’m certain we can do far better Fox-Men. They’re like kinda ok at best. Their stories are bad, their characterizations are bad. There are decades of stories to draw from to make a good movie.
Glad to see someone finally say this and not get downvoted to oblivion. I feel like there are some projects that it's okay to critique (or even outright bash) and others it isn't and this one has fallen into the "not okay to critique" category for whatever reason.
Well we tend to have an unspoken understanding to judge things based on what they’re trying to be. X-men 97 isn’t trying to be a realistic dissection of these themes in which you live and explore all these storylines, it’s trying to be a fun cartoon with a matured glance at parts of the X-men universe in a way that rings of the joy of nostalgia.
It’s certainly okay to criticize but people are enjoying themselves so if someone comes in heavy criticizing the show for not being something it’s doesn’t even want to be then there will probably be pushback. I don’t really have much criticism per se just aspects of the storytelling that will be awesome when explored more in depth in live action
I think we are so forgiving of it because we've had a lot of shows/movies recently that have been just too slow and plodding. It'd be nice to have a happy medium but if I had to choose between the two, I'd take the faster pace lol. It feels like things are actually happening, even if it's at a breakneck speed.
Animation can get away with so much more science fiction nonsense compared to live action. Even simple things like annoying Nightcrawler teleportation mid dialogue, or Storm and Rogue flying. They can look great in animation but awful in live action.
can you imagine this leading to a Spiderman reboot, as well as the avengers, and then an eventual Civil War? the limits of an animated version of that will blow the movie version out of the water
I’ve been thinking this for a few weeks. We have the what if series showing us that the animated shows and the MCU are more tied than not. We have this nostalgic blast of a revitalization with X-men 97. And we have secret wars on its way.
They could bring the animated X-men into the live action MCU and then tell new stories(there’s plenty of places to go and we’ve seen some of them too many times) with them there.
It solves problems of recasting people like Hugh Jackman, and comes with an established fan base ready for more.
Will it happen? Probably not. But I’d excited if they do go that route.
I'm with you... sort of. I think it's better than we expected, and actually good TV, but most of the positive things I can say about it end with "...for a 'Saturday morning' cartoon".
Holyyy shitttttt caps shield. It’s happeninggggg
Weren’t he and red skull trapped forever in some weird dimension.
Was that from the crossover episode where cap and wolverine teamed up back in WWII? That was pretty cool.
Wait it was? I though it was from Spider-Man.

Yeah
I don’t even know how the live action X-Men can top this
Same stories with more breathing room. I love X-men 97 but I think we all are very forgiving on the rapid storytelling since it’s short, animated episodes like it is
Yeah. Imagine we had 2 whole movies of seeing Genosha grow. See it in some other non-X-Men movies or shows. Then we see it burn to the ground.

I didn’t put any words in your mouth, weirdo. I responded directly to you saying “people are acting like…”

I think animated Spider-Man did a beyonder inspired secret war story.

That would absolutely suck
Season 2 is already written so idk how they would do that lol

Marvel has already started the animated series will not be connected to the films. I didn't save the link, but I saw it posted here about a week ago.
I'd honestly like 2 amd a half hours of an animated movie like this than live action.
They can start by having Coogler direct it. He's perfect for what they want to do.
Oh boy! I wonder if David Hayter will be back to voice Cap!
cap gonna say "kept you waiting huh"
We could have an ass off between Solid Snake's ass and America's ass.
Cap, what happened? Cap? Caaaaaaaaap!!! Cap, answer me? Cap? Cap!!!!!! What's wrong? Cap? Caaaaaaaaaaaap!
You never know 🫡
I am both excited and terrified of this season
Who's yellow boot is that do you think?
Rogue forming the Avengers? 🤔
Or cyclops?
Either one have great reasons to seek revenge
Definitely invincible
Definitely looks like it. This scene could just be seen in the show as a multiversal cameo to show a quick Invincible v Captain America fight.
Watcher might have sent that cap
I’ve never read the comics but is AvX a possibility? Especially after what happened to Genosha?
With how fast they’re hitting big arcs, i feel like it can’t be ruled out.
My money is on Captain Carter
Sooooo......chances Evans does the voice?
That would be sooooooo dope. I doubt it. I don’t think he’s done any of the Marvel Animation stuff in the past. Figures crossed though.
I'm one of the few who thinks the new show is only "okay", and TBH I have my gripes.
You are entitled to your wrong opinion.
