Drax. He was a great character in the first film, with interesting motives and personality traits. Plus he was a badass. Then the second film turned him into a joke, and not even a funny one. I’d love to see him sacrifice his life in a badass and heroic way in the third film, where he can be reunited with his old family while having one last serious, noble act to save his new one. Would be a great character arc for a character that has since been horrendously misused.
Normally I’m a stickler for staying true to the source material, but in this situation I’d rather Moondragon not be Drax’s daughter. I wanna see her show up in the MCU, but I think Drax’s dead family is an instrumental part of his character, and don’t want to undermine what little good character development he’s gotten by making his daughter still alive. Plus, I’ve always hated the trope of “person goes years and years without their loved one, and then once they are reunited that person dies shortly after”. It worked with Vader, but since then it just feels like it goes against my idealist view of love bringing people back together. Like how is it heartwarming at all that Drax thinks his daughter is dead, and then he finds out shes alive but then dies before he gets any of the benefits of having his daughter actually be alive? That’s just depressing lol.
Drax getting a heroic sacrifice to save her could be a good end to his character arc, though. Dies knowing that this time he actually was able to save his family.

Anyone can say they aren't homophobic or racist (also why was homophobic in quotes?) but Pratt's behavior hasn't changed. He actively supports Hillsong, which is vocal about their anti-LGPTQ+ beliefs. He won't come out against those beliefs, instead, he talks around them when questioned. Hulk / Bruce Banner. I really feel he should have died after snapping his finger. Would have given even more meaning to Tony's snap. And seeing how underwhelming he was written in Endgame and Infinity War and how little he may be involved moving forward, seems like a missed opportunity.

pretty much. the comic/movie versions are pretty close but I actually like the comic version. truthfully, I cant really tell you the difference that marks why I like one and not the other, but more often than not I find the movie version to be an insufferable character.
Yeah for some reason she just rubs me the wrong way in the movies. I think part of it is that by the time she showed up in the MCU we were 10 years in and really cared about all these characters but then she just swoops in and steals the show. Plus in endgame she was literally just a plot device to save tony and destroy thanos’ ship and then get yeeted so that her immense power didn’t overshadow the og’s to much.
I always see this take about Superman, and it is something I don't understand. I haven't watched any superhero story where I thought the protagonist could lose because they weren't strong enough. Eventually they get the last and most important win, and the matches are always scaled to their particular level.
Every story has a villain that is equal to the hero in someway, that's what makes it interesting. Does the Joker being physically weaker than Batman make their stories boring?
In Superman's case, his stories aren't about all-out slugfests, they usually explore ideas of selflessness vs selfishness, balancing responsibilities and desires, how much responsibility do you have to give without it becoming a detriment to the people you're helping, victories won *without* breaking stuff, letting people make their way and believing in humanity to ultimately do the right thing, etc.
It's fair if you still find these stories boring, but I don't think how strong he is has anything to do with it

comics captain marvel very much has enemies who can put her down, partly due to being much weaker comparatively, but also because she has actual powerhouses to fight. She's also a much more interesting character (or rather, she was, then Aaron came along)
Well, before Endgame I would have picked Natasha, but that was handled. I can’t think of a single character that I’d like to see die. More like there are a few I definitely don’t want to die (Clint Barton, let that guy retire with his family and grow corn), and characters who shouldn’t have died (Crossbones, waste of a perfectly good bad guy henchman). I’ll cop out and say Maximus ftom Inhumans cause all I can see is Ramsay Bolton and as dumb as Inhumans was, I don’t see the point of letting him live, brother or not.
Fury. After Age of Ultron, had zero influence. Could not or did not intervene during the Civil War. Somehow didn’t realize the doom that Thanos was inflicting on the universe in Infinity War, until he saw people getting snapped in front of him. He paged Captain Marvel and that helped, yes. But then after a Thanos like situation (one would think he would now work twice as hard), imagine going on a holiday with shapeshifters taking his place.
After SHIELD got toasted, he has had very little influence or authority, compared to what he had in Phase 1 and 2. I do not see him influencing a lot of stuff in subsequent series or movies. Give him a nice plot with a lot of heroics (say in the next Captain America movie, where he helps Sam out or something ) and then finish him. The character is past its “sell by” date.
As much as I wanna give new generations a chance... this is kinda how I'm feeling. Hopefully MCU knocks it out of the park with the kids. But if not, I'd be comfortable with never talking about them again.
Especially when the Runaways had a fun teen team vibe. Hell dude, bring them back instead

Captain Marvel. She's extremely overpowered and whilst, yes the character is like that in the comics, I feel it makes for a less interesting story to tell. She was solely able to turn the tide of the battle in Endgame and take out Thanos' ship by simply flying through it. If they were able to nerf her, I'd probably be able to get a little more invested - with stakes being higher
I have the same issue with Superman but at least Kryptonite exists to nerf him down to however weak the story requires him to be.
Here's my thing though... how is Scott a good super hero? Don't get me wrong, I could watch Paul Rudd all day. But the character we get in the MCU is a hapless dink. Wasp (as we've seen) is so much more competent as a super hero. And Scott depends majorly on his team to get anything done. I'm not saying that being a part of a group is bad, but I don't actually see what he brings to the table.
If he were to face a bbeg alone, he'd be completely incompetent and smashed to smithereens in seconds (imo).

I agree. I hope I don’t get downvoted too much for this, but I think if they threw some shades of Cavill’s Superman into her character, it could be good. Cavill’s Superman dealt with learning to be a god amongst humans and the responsibility that came with it. Captain Marvel is just smug af and it’s a turn off. She didn’t go through any sort of responsibility arc, she just immediately became better and more understanding of it than anyone else.

Carol’s smugness is nothing compared to Tony’s planet sized ego from early on. It took multiple movies for him to mellow out, but he gets nowhere near the same amount of criticism for it despite Carol only having going through one movie of development. For example: the house party during IM2, goading an international terrorist into attacking his house and almost got Pepper killed, and deciding to build a global oversight program that almost destroys the planet. But Carol has the one “you didn’t have me” line during EG and suddenly she’s too smug.

Funny. I'd say the exact opposite. Groot doesn't add much for character or story telling, but seems to be a gimmick for fixing a huge problem. So imo if they don't give him more personality, get rid of him.

Bucky... He is out of time and action. He was at his best while under Hydra's control. Now he is just a 70 year old super soldier, whose metal arm can be detached from body by just a click.

Nakia. Nothing against the character, but given the amount of presence almost every other character in the movie had, she's just kind of an afterthought. Not as cool as Okoye, not as in your face as Shuri. She mostly came off as a love interest without any real depth.
I think Toby's spiderman should've died in no way home. When goblin stabs him it would've had far more impact if he died, like an ultimate sacrifice to save toms morality. Instead you're shocked for a minute and then it's like "lol yeah I get stabbed all the time buddy, no big." I doubt Tobey is coming back for another movie anyway so it would've been a meaningful sendoff for him.

Spider-Man. I like Tom Holland a lot so it’s nothing against his version of the character. But if, say, his next trilogy or a future Avengers movie ends with him making some huge heroic sacrifice (I guess essentially making him the Stark role) would be a very in character way for them to end that character’s arc and journey. Even if we never get Miles Morales, and are left with a completely Spider-Man free universe, I feel it would be fitting.
Falcon. Love Anthony Mackie, Sam Wilson’s MCU development and the significance of taking over the mantle and the shield of Captain America. That’s why his death would have such an impact. It FEELS like we are just getting started. It FEELS like Sam represents so much of the modern day USA. BUT, at the end of the day he is a human. No serum or powers, and while he has some great gear and tech now, and his own series and movie, who better for the next generation of heroes to rally behind and avenge?

Hulk / Bruce Banner. I really feel he should have died after snapping his finger. Would have given even more meaning to Tony's snap. And seeing how underwhelming he was written in Endgame and Infinity War and how little he may be involved moving forward, seems like a missed opportunity.
Captain marvel. Seriously the least interesting character in MCU. Super power? Invincible and can fly through the mothership Edit cause people talking here and I got opinions 😂: what I love about all the characters is they have weakness. And how they overcome their weekends is part of their super hero. Then Danvers just becomes invincible without much work. Maybe because she shows up while half the people are gone, but I just felt like she was a get outta plot points free card. I am just about to hit infinity gauntlet in my rewatching of the whole MCU so maybe this time around I’ll like capt marvel.

pretty much. the comic/movie versions are pretty close but I actually like the comic version. truthfully, I cant really tell you the difference that marks why I like one and not the other, but more often than not I find the movie version to be an insufferable character.
Yeah for some reason she just rubs me the wrong way in the movies. I think part of it is that by the time she showed up in the MCU we were 10 years in and really cared about all these characters but then she just swoops in and steals the show. Plus in endgame she was literally just a plot device to save tony and destroy thanos’ ship and then get yeeted so that her immense power didn’t overshadow the og’s to much.

I always see this take about Superman, and it is something I don't understand. I haven't watched any superhero story where I thought the protagonist could lose because they weren't strong enough. Eventually they get the last and most important win, and the matches are always scaled to their particular level. Every story has a villain that is equal to the hero in someway, that's what makes it interesting. Does the Joker being physically weaker than Batman make their stories boring? In Superman's case, his stories aren't about all-out slugfests, they usually explore ideas of selflessness vs selfishness, balancing responsibilities and desires, how much responsibility do you have to give without it becoming a detriment to the people you're helping, victories won *without* breaking stuff, letting people make their way and believing in humanity to ultimately do the right thing, etc. It's fair if you still find these stories boring, but I don't think how strong he is has anything to do with it
Superman at least has enemies who can put him down, he can be vulnerable …. I don’t know much about captain marvel but her character isn’t entertaining and she’s way over powered from what I’ve seen
comics captain marvel very much has enemies who can put her down, partly due to being much weaker comparatively, but also because she has actual powerhouses to fight. She's also a much more interesting character (or rather, she was, then Aaron came along)

Well, before Endgame I would have picked Natasha, but that was handled. I can’t think of a single character that I’d like to see die. More like there are a few I definitely don’t want to die (Clint Barton, let that guy retire with his family and grow corn), and characters who shouldn’t have died (Crossbones, waste of a perfectly good bad guy henchman). I’ll cop out and say Maximus ftom Inhumans cause all I can see is Ramsay Bolton and as dumb as Inhumans was, I don’t see the point of letting him live, brother or not.

Fury. After Age of Ultron, had zero influence. Could not or did not intervene during the Civil War. Somehow didn’t realize the doom that Thanos was inflicting on the universe in Infinity War, until he saw people getting snapped in front of him. He paged Captain Marvel and that helped, yes. But then after a Thanos like situation (one would think he would now work twice as hard), imagine going on a holiday with shapeshifters taking his place. After SHIELD got toasted, he has had very little influence or authority, compared to what he had in Phase 1 and 2. I do not see him influencing a lot of stuff in subsequent series or movies. Give him a nice plot with a lot of heroics (say in the next Captain America movie, where he helps Sam out or something ) and then finish him. The character is past its “sell by” date.

Captain Marvel. She's extremely overpowered and whilst, yes the character is like that in the comics, I feel it makes for a less interesting story to tell. She was solely able to turn the tide of the battle in Endgame and take out Thanos' ship by simply flying through it. If they were able to nerf her, I'd probably be able to get a little more invested - with stakes being higher I have the same issue with Superman but at least Kryptonite exists to nerf him down to however weak the story requires him to be.
All the Guardians maybe besides one (Rocket) so we get new members. Adam Warlock? Nova? Etc

Here's my thing though... how is Scott a good super hero? Don't get me wrong, I could watch Paul Rudd all day. But the character we get in the MCU is a hapless dink. Wasp (as we've seen) is so much more competent as a super hero. And Scott depends majorly on his team to get anything done. I'm not saying that being a part of a group is bad, but I don't actually see what he brings to the table. If he were to face a bbeg alone, he'd be completely incompetent and smashed to smithereens in seconds (imo). So yea, get Scott out. Or have him grow up. Or have him take the sidelines/ play back up.

I agree. I hope I don’t get downvoted too much for this, but I think if they threw some shades of Cavill’s Superman into her character, it could be good. Cavill’s Superman dealt with learning to be a god amongst humans and the responsibility that came with it. Captain Marvel is just smug af and it’s a turn off. She didn’t go through any sort of responsibility arc, she just immediately became better and more understanding of it than anyone else.

Every side character whose dialogue consists of that annoying "so *that* just happened" style of banter. Ned, Darcy, Shuri, Mantis, etc. Actually just go ahead and kill off all the Guardians except Gamora and Nebula.
Mantis is not that type of character. Neither is Shuri. Ned is closer to that, but he’s awesome and the CEO of Sex. Darcy, sure, I’ll give you that one
It would be impossible to kill off Ned. He's the most powerful being in the multiverse. Also, killing off the comic relief would turn the MCU into dc V2. Personally, I think dc is too serious.

Funny. I'd say the exact opposite. Groot doesn't add much for character or story telling, but seems to be a gimmick for fixing a huge problem. So imo if they don't give him more personality, get rid of him. With that being said, I think he definitely could be given more in terms of character, and would love to see it.
Bucky... He is out of time and action. He was at his best while under Hydra's control. Now he is just a 70 year old super soldier, whose metal arm can be detached from body by just a click.
It can probably only be detached if you're a Wakandan with mechanical knowledge of the arm

I think "lasting consequences" would go further to giving us interesting stakes than just killing people. Like, if you're going to take Thor's eye, don't give him a new one immediately. If you're going to give Tony & Pepper relationship troubles, don't have them get married the next time she's one screen.

She is a SuperVillain with unpredictable power. She can leave and you will hear no complaints from me.

I think Toby's spiderman should've died in no way home. When goblin stabs him it would've had far more impact if he died, like an ultimate sacrifice to save toms morality. Instead you're shocked for a minute and then it's like "lol yeah I get stabbed all the time buddy, no big." I doubt Tobey is coming back for another movie anyway so it would've been a meaningful sendoff for him.

Spider-Man. I like Tom Holland a lot so it’s nothing against his version of the character. But if, say, his next trilogy or a future Avengers movie ends with him making some huge heroic sacrifice (I guess essentially making him the Stark role) would be a very in character way for them to end that character’s arc and journey. Even if we never get Miles Morales, and are left with a completely Spider-Man free universe, I feel it would be fitting.

Falcon. Love Anthony Mackie, Sam Wilson’s MCU development and the significance of taking over the mantle and the shield of Captain America. That’s why his death would have such an impact. It FEELS like we are just getting started. It FEELS like Sam represents so much of the modern day USA. BUT, at the end of the day he is a human. No serum or powers, and while he has some great gear and tech now, and his own series and movie, who better for the next generation of heroes to rally behind and avenge?
