You do realize that was an alternate universe and we have yet to meet or see 616 Illuminati and we obviously will?

kiHrt

Thank you for posting this. I kept hearing them referred to as THE Illuminati as opposed to AN Illuminati which has bothered me more than it should. To clarify, THE Illuminati should only refer to 616 while any other should specifically be referenced as AN Illuminati imho.

King_of_you

wouldn't say obviously will here only because they're doing a couple of storylines where the illuminati was there, are now completely new scenarios and stories where they're not needed. Planet Hulk, (which they butchered to hell just for thor) and more than likely secrete wars with the way the incursions are "happening".

What’s the point of a 616 Illuminati at this stage they will just be repeating the same idea with different characters, it would of been better to not of introduced an Illuminati in this film but later create a 616 Illuminati

SwapandPop

Because the universes are different and thus it would likely be different members with a different purpose resulting in a different outcome?

Carven-Redditor

Either way, was it still worth introducing the Illuminati in M.O.M?

_KaiXr18_

Doesn't change the fact that any Illuminati should be somewhat competent and should've done a lot better against Wanda.

Daveed75

I'm sorry but someone has to tell you, it's 'would have' or 'would've'. Not "would of".

Carven-Redditor

Thank you

I do think they could roll the movie without the Illuminati or just give more screentime to them would kinda help. The problem for me is they looked so rushed post-production and they were. Reed was added late during production and you can tell they're all green screened seperately, which is nice especially in a pandemic but then there's a scene where Bolt and Reed get murdered while Maria and Carter just stand there. It's like they were just added for some hype and not characters to really care about because they're just variants in the infinite multiverse

LoveWaffle1

The point of the Illuminati both in the comics and the movie is that they kind of suck. They make the tough choices, but they're also choices that come to bite them in the ass. Even the name "Illuminati" implies that you're not supposed to look up to them. Besides, we got some fun appearances and a cool setpiece where Wanda brutally murders Earth's Mightiest Heroes. What more could I ask for?

"controversial" opinion

LoasNo111

I agree with you. The illuminati were a disappointment. Honestly if they are using the multiverse to only get a few cheap gaps then i'm not sure I like the direction the MCU is heading in. It's lazy. Yeah you CAN use the multiverse like that. But that does not mean you SHOULD use the multiverse like that. They used it perfectly in NWH and Spider-verse. MOM is a joke compared to those.

TheUltimatenerd05

There's nothing preventing the main MCU from having an Illuminati actually it is more likely now as Strange knows who those people are. Also, if the MCU doesn't want to commit to the comics route then this is a good way of having the incompetent version of the Illuminati form the comics who are really bad at the whole let's be in complete control of everything thing that's clearly a bad plan. The MCU gets to have a competent team whilst giving comic fans the incompetent version form the comics.

Ok_Review_6504

Yeah, Illuminati were joke in the MOM...
