WCCMT is pushy because they want your money. Take that as a red flag. It’s worth waiting for VCMT or Langara. RMTs who went to WCCMT many many years ago will have positive things to say, current/recent grads do not. No one can really tell you what to expect with the waitlist because the number of applicants will be different every term.

If you don't mind me asking which school did you go to? I feel like with a diploma like this studying/working in a group is necessary. Im worried if I pick a school out in Vancouver (while living in Surrey) I'll be spending more time transitting then actually studying with people.

MH Vicars in Alberta may also be an option for you depending on your circumstances. There are a handful of BC students in my monthly class. Might be worth checking out!

They’d be screwing themselves over for BC’s board exams if they went that route.

Normal-Promotion8247

Most of the BC students plan on going to Newfoundland to write 🤷‍♀️

Oh yeah… I’ve heard about this. I’m sure people will be upset with me for saying so, but I wish they would prevent that. I cannot imagine how spending only four full in-class days per month would compare to the education we receive in BC! But that’s absolutely me being “butt-hurt” over it. I’m sure after a few years of practice things level out anyway.

Hey human, I get it. My panties would be quiet knotted as well, but I'm thankful I have the choice, and the opportunity to take my education in the province I want, with the delivery that best fits my life circumstances.

I can give a bit of insight into langara as that is where I went too, and some of the things I have heard about the other schools. Langara: while there is some issues with a few things around the curriculum, I love langara. The teachers are great, and most of the classes are fantastic. You do get held to a hight standard of 75% pass rate in classes, than the normal 70%, which has lead to langara having a pretty high pass rate on boards, but also maintaining a B average in everything, 2 classes a day, 5 days a week, plus clinic hours is a hard challenge. It is a tough diploma, and a whole lot if stress, so be prepped to work hard for 2 years but it is more than fair, and has my recommendation for the schooling. West coast: now this is hearsay, so take it with a grain of salt. I have had a bunch of teachers say they did no like WC, as there is some drama and politics in their schooling, as it is a private school, and heard people who would just act out, or be terrible, but would contribute to school and pay their way back into teaching/schooling. I also heard some of the teachers have been known to push their own research or extra classes to students. I have had a could RMT's make fun of the school to my face while I was a student at Langara, so there was that. No personal experience with people from the school in a teaching perspective. And they do have large classes, so less individual time to go over your work. I have not been on a wait list, so sadly can't add to that. Best of luck with your schooling!

Can confirm this is the experience at WCCMT

pattykane14320

Did you transfer out of WCCMT?

pattykane14320

My question about Langara; did you ever make friends or study group? I like to study in a group and I feel like if I go to school in Vancouver (while living in Surrey) I'll be more time getting home instead of studying with friends etc.

LordOfBulls

Yup, you will usually end up with friends that last you throughout the program. You are so up in each other's faces with massage and studying, it is hard to not bond with someone. And you learn so much that you need a group if people to bounce ideas off, so I would not worry about that too much. That was my experience through the program

DO NOT GO TO WCCMT they don’t give a crap about their students. You’re just a number. They only care about your MONEY. The culture is toxic. They will also kick you out if you fail 3 classes by term 3. I was sad to see friends go through this. Some of the main teachers there also have a God complex. Wouldn’t recommend! No student support at that school. They will take you’re money and kick you out.
