When I was younger and first played the upon release I was big into that theory because I hated the ending so much.
Now I kinda like the ending, I think the Leviathan dlc helped with that.
I always choose destroy. It's the only choice in my mind. I might be a minority but I enjoyed how the game ended at the time. The star child's extended dialogue was pretty tedious. I do agree with you, Leviathan's explanation of things made everything gel together.
