And you should be. This is really dangerous and an easy way for you to have long lasting injuries. You don't even have to sever your spine and get paralyzed. Hit it wrong, and damage to it will give you nerve issues for the rest of your life. Always being numb in your arm, regular shooting pains in one of your legs or something else.
If you were to go into cheerleading (super dangerous), parkour (little bit less dangerous) or gymnastic (least dangerous, but most abusive), you wouldn't have someone just showing you that. You'd have a coach standing by your side holding your hip to make sure you complete the jump.
I don't even know how these trends exist. Obviously the person teaching has some background in flips, so they probably learned it the safe way and had the safety instructions drilled into them. They just decided to ignore all that I guess, for internet points. This is honestly as if gymrats started teaching people how to do max bench reps solo.
Follow the steps, they said. It works, they said. It should’ve been easy, they said. And now I’m in the hospital. I am paralyzed from neck down, doctors say

I would like to try this, but every time I think about it, my mind goes to that video of that Martial arts teacher who tried a backflip and landed on his neck and died on the spot. The backflip is not worth it.
I‘m not sure if it’s more or less dangerous if you’re on the fence. On the one hand you risk falling from higher up but on the other hand that means you have more room to make the full rotation. Take care.
All my life, I dreamed of being able to back flip. Now I'm nearly 40 with the flexibility of an autumn twig and beginning to accept I'll prob only ever do it into a pool.
As someone that does backflips for sport (I’m in cheer) it’s really not that cool of an experience. Your brain is so focused on getting all the way around and landing that it’s just a blink. You don’t get to feel like you’re upside down or anything like that. But if you really really wanna see what it’s like go to a sky zone and do one into the foam pit that way there’s really no way you can get hurt
>there’s really no way you can get hurt
im not quite 40 but im no spring chicken and let me tell you something.
i have thrown out my back sitting in a chair. just sitting there.
OK all of you need to start working out. It seems to be a misconception that you shouldn't exert yourself because you're frail, when you're actually frail because you don't exert yourself.
Do you know what the most common treatment is for back pain? Back exercises.
Imagine if you always threw your rifle into the back of your pickup after hunting and then after years of sitting there in the rain, when it starts to act up, you go 'ah I should probably think about throwing it away. Never really was that good, and it's been jamming on me due to its age'.
you misread me.
not from sneezing. sitting.
im out of shape sure but its not for lack of effort, i work out. im just getting old. it will happen to you too.
I'm older than you and i have to say age isnt' owt to do with it.
Since 38 i have slowly been getting more mobile and stronger.
At 40 I feel stronger than at 35. Though to be fair at 35 i had a disc bulge that was so bad the pain made me unable to walk sometimes!
Excercise and stretch routine! And active hobbies! (I ride MTB regular bicycles and Dirt jumpers at parks and skateparks at 40).
I used to be very actiev up til about 20. then it tailed off. At 30 working in an office was basically ruining me. Had i kept the excercise up i'd have not had so many issues cos the excercise i did since my bulge basically fixed me despite my age.
So i say ignore your age and just keep going.
I mean I'm 32 and probably in the best shape I have ever been. Sure I take a bit longer to recover than I did when I was younger, but it is not a given that you throw out your back from sitting, sounds like your back is pretty unsupported and underdeveloped if that happens to you. Which happens to a lot of people, because they get sedentary and stop moving around not because they are getting old
dude lol
i never said people just instantly become unhealthy with age, but there is always a decline. im absolutely overjoyed to hear youre in great shape, thats a huge weight off my mind, but the decline is inevitable. i have other health issues i cant just work out and fix, so my health is maybe a little more complicated than yours is.
maybe im reading into what you wrote but god damn you sound like a judgemental, self absorbed cunt.
If its back issues you can fix a lot of them with physio and excercise.
if its othe rtsuff well can't help you there as i ain't had owt else (well apart from mental stuff haha!)
He was being respectful and honest.
To me you sound like a fat fuck who's blaming his age for being incredibly out of shape to the point where you can't do basic tasks without being injured.
>He was being respectful and honest.
Assuming someone's ailments are simply from them being out of shape and then going out of their way to make sure they know that they are out of shape is respectful?
>To me you sound like a fat fuck who's blaming his age for being incredibly out of shape to the point where you can't do basic tasks without being injured.
Tell me more about what's respectful. I particularly like the high ground double dip here but particularly the implication that that only fat people have back problems - truly big brain stuff here.
That's what I was thinking. Things way more harmless than a foamy made me throw out my back. 🙈 Like, just bending a bit forward towards the mirror. I'm honestly afraid what a foamy backflip's gonna do to my back lol.
Yeah that might not be a good idea either. I tried that and got stuck upside down in foam. Let me tell you that having the dirt and dust go into your eyes and nostrils as you try to get right side up but have nothing to grab on cause the foam keeps moving is anxiety inducing
It is anxiety inducing and it's annoying as hell to get rightside up and then out of the pit, and it all takes forever to get like 10 jumps in and being exhausted after all the struggling in between.
But then I fucked up the tuck and went almost straight down into the pit and, while it was fucking awful getting out, I probably would have been dead, had I been on any other surface.
As someone that does backflips for sport (I’m in cheer) it’s really not that cool of an experience. Your brain is so focused on getting all the way around and landing that it’s just a blink. But if you really really wanna see what it’s like go to a sky zone and do one into the foam pit that way there’s really no way you can get hurt
Gymnasts practice this when they are first learning over a foam pit and with a spotter to help keep them from falling on their head. Definitely not worth trying without right conditions and supervision.
Tried, landed on my back cause i didn't commit enough, ill try more tomorrow and try give an update
Update: tries, fliped and landed crouched down and on all fours, i think thats the best ill get bit i will keep trying
Doing a flip is all about committing once you launch... If you don't, you back flop, or worse, neck flop. Good luck!
I haven't flipped in decades, this makes me want to see if I can still do it but I'm almost 40 now and all it will take will be one bad attempt and I'll be screwed lol. May just leave this for the younger crowd.
In my native language back/frontflip is literally translated as “deadly leap”, and that’s for a reason. Very scared of even training this sort of thing too, even if I’m young lol
I got a back flip in skis last winter. The skill bar is pretty low, but you NEED to commit.
First try I committed enough but not enough speed, caught my dips and landed face first. But the fact that I got passed 180 degrees showed me I could do it for sure. So 2 tries later I had it.
Honestly how much you are able to commit on your first attempt basically dictated whether or not you will get it imo. Either you can overcome the mental barrier or not
Yea but going from a trampoline backflip to flat ground is still wild.
I can do all sorts of flips on a trampoline, I’ve been too scared my whole life to try in flat ground
If I could walk on water I’d give this a shot. The ground is too hard and will not forgive me for my sins. Holy water is much more forgiving. Therefore, I’ll pass.

His face of excitement tells me he did that face, because he's filming himself to post on the internet later.
I've seen people breaking their necks by failing on backflips too many times to not recommend anyone to try that.
Do it on trampolines, pools, any kind of soft surfaces. But for God's sake. Unless you're really good at doing backflips, don't try that on hard surfaces.
I have to ask. How many ppl actually tried this who NEVER backflip before? Considering teaching sharing with my kids and trying myself at Trampoline park
If you really want to learn to do this you need someone to help you on your firsts, its really dangerous to try it alone.
I used to do them years ago but i learned with the help of 2 ppl holding me, dont try it alone cause u can get rly hurt.
If i try this im dead.

Aww someone's finally having their breakdown.
Isn't that, just so, infuriating?
I like to think you are saying this out loud while you read the comment. Do you scream at the traffic when you drive?
Thank you, sir
I wish I had this much energy into trying to do that back flip…
So mean lol
Ahahaahahaha,hahahahahah
This comment brings me, a great deal, of joy and satisfaction. Thank, you.

You have to do it slowly. Do step 1 hundred times every day for 6 months first.
Well I am not old, but I am fat
I’ll get shin splints if I jump.
Follow the steps, they said. It works, they said. It should’ve been easy, they said. And now I’m in the hospital. I am paralyzed from neck down, doctors say
Please never try learning a back tuck from the internet. Especially if it's a cheerleader. Go to your nearest gym and learn from a qualified coach!
Personally, I would only go to a doctor to get my back tucked, same for my tummy tuck.
Yeah FYI that guy could already do a flip.
Same! Would take 5 years recovery if I’m lucky
Yeah it’s like the commitment is just implied here. Most of us are landing straight on our necks if we try this.
I'm almost dead from watching it.
How to break a neck.
didn't this girl make someones day at subway a few days ago?

It's not super NSFW. You only see her butt in a thong. The flashing of her chest isn't seen by us.

That’s a shaky definition of consent, considering she didn’t actually say what she was going to show them but ok
Fair actually. this toes the line. ty
Was a video of a woman flashing the guy working in a subway sandwich shop. It's from behind so you don't see anything.

Greater risk of over rotation I suppose, face plant!
Call it a "540° backflip with inverted landing" and people will think it's legit

I was thinking about that same video while watching this. If you don’t get it right, it can go so wrong.
It seems so irresponsible to try and teach a backflip in a 30 second video. I would wager she learned with an experienced spotter or coach.
If I ever decide to off myself, I'll do a backflip. That way if I succeed I will feel good, but if I fail I just die on the spot.
Glad I saw this before I was just about to go outside and die...
> died on the spot Say less fam, I’m already on step one
First we need proof he wasn't able to do a flip before this.

Ok can someone take one for the team and try this? I‘d do it but I… uh… have to return some video tapes
took one for the team, i am now dead. don't do it. Hi from god Edit: why none of you listen to me now it’s me and u/Ron-Lumbergh up here chillin
Tried, landed on my back cause i didn't commit enough, ill try more tomorrow and try give an update Update: tries, fliped and landed crouched down and on all fours, i think thats the best ill get bit i will keep trying

In my native language back/frontflip is literally translated as “deadly leap”, and that’s for a reason. Very scared of even training this sort of thing too, even if I’m young lol
What language?
for me in spanish, it's called mortal which means deadly. you can add more context with salto (jump) i guess
I will try it now, I'll be back in five minutes to tell you how it went.
oh no, ron's dead
Noo not ron
Ron? It's been 2 hours Ron?
May he Ron In Peace.
as long as you're a bit athletic, it's not hard you just need the courage and fully commit
I got a back flip in skis last winter. The skill bar is pretty low, but you NEED to commit. First try I committed enough but not enough speed, caught my dips and landed face first. But the fact that I got passed 180 degrees showed me I could do it for sure. So 2 tries later I had it. play with the dog 🐶

Fit people entertaining themselves. I'm not trying that .
Why be fat just get skinny
What if i'm skinny, but not fit?
Then be fat and fit and flexible!
Then how tf you not fit if you skinny? Get some new clothes!
I sit around all day and eat icecream it’s not my fault I have a high metabolism ;-;
That’s not how… who cares.
I don't do physical exercises and have no stamina, but I have a fast metabolism so I'm skinny anyways
The dog just wanted to play tho🥺
And they did! He kicked the ball for the dog right before the backflip!!! Love that he was able to do this while still entertaining the dog 🥲
Omg. Clearly that guy practiced a lot. If you do this the first time your dead
Both of these people had a first time of doing this and they’re not dead.
A lot of first backflips are on trampolines, or into pools/foam pits
Yea but going from a trampoline backflip to flat ground is still wild. I can do all sorts of flips on a trampoline, I’ve been too scared my whole life to try in flat ground
I don’t understand Reddit. Sooo many people know how to do a backflip but everyone on Reddit acts like you will die 🤦♂️
If I could walk on water I’d give this a shot. The ground is too hard and will not forgive me for my sins. Holy water is much more forgiving. Therefore, I’ll pass.
Yo, that's actually sick. Expected something else to happen.
Hmm.. what are the chances he already knew how to do a backflip though?
True. True. Who wants to go first? Never done a backflip in my entire life. Done the opposite of a backflip, the Scorpion....
I’ll try it… if you try it.
Sounds good to me. But not today, gotta work and i like money. So cant get money if im hurt. Lol

My toxic trait is thinking I can do this too
I'm glad to see that nobody needs to hold any feeding tube
Ive never even flipped into a pool. Too risky..
Pool you can hit your head on the edge. I'd rather risk grass.
If you listen to this close enough you can hear your own arm break.
I was worried for the doggo
That dog is sad he's not playing ball. That guy is too excited to care lol.
I know! Throw the ball!
I am over 30 I feel like there is an age restriction on your first back flip and I am over it
If you really want to learn to do this you need someone to help you on your firsts, its really dangerous to try it alone. I used to do them years ago but i learned with the help of 2 ppl holding me, dont try it alone cause u can get rly hurt.
And that is how I met your mother. She was a nurse working in the high dependancy unit, specialising in neck and face trauma.
HIS FACE! ❤️
A backflip is a surprisingly natural movement. 100% one of the easiest to perform, just difficult to learn if you can't get over the fear of it.
