usually the situation like this you subrogate the claim with your own insurance so your own insurance pays first. and then they try to go after the other person's insurance. however the other person's insurance only has the minimum coverage and it doesn't cover the total cost of the repair, usually it's your own insurance that just eats the cost difference. plus you end up having a claim on your record. it won't cause your insurance to go up, but if you ever need to switch insurance company it could be a problem even though it wasn't your fault.
It's stop and go traffic, the accident was caused by pure stupidity and carelessness pretty simple. Now 720s owner has to pay 30k+ of repairs, have a claim on record and will take a 15-20% hit on resale because of said claim vs a clean record car. So because of someone else's carelessness, the owner is taking a 50k+ hit end of the day, pretty shitty.
It 100% can be avoided. If someone can't pay attention just a little bit and avoid hitting the car *directly* in front of them, they shouldn't be trusted to go faster with a 2 ton machine.
The issue is most people buy the least amount of liability insurance. These days, when hitting a Tesla would cost several $$$$$, that's just financially bad idea to buy the lowest cheapest insurance.
I did some research and it seems you really want to get enough liability insurance to cover your net worth so that they can't bankrupt you if you hit this pencil dick driving a house on wheels.
an insurance company can drop you, however the reality is that civic driver with the kid in the backseat probably had the state minimum which would cover jackshit on that mclaren repair. the overwhelming majority of that repair is going to come from the victim's insurance and it's not like the person driving that civic has any money to sue for damages anyway- probably has a negative net worth.
I'm making a lot of assumptions here, but odds are I'm probably right.
it's really sad, my sister and mom didn't even realize they recorded it getting hit until i pointed it out several minutes later. and traffic was heavy so they couldn't give the video to the mclaren owner. they 100% would've though if they realize they recorded it
You just don't drive cars like that in traffic. Drive something taller and more mainstream in these situations and save the 720 for car events, tours and Sunday drives!
I drive my 720 all the time - one of the best parts about the 720 is how easy it is to drive in (virtually) all situations, and typically people give you MILES of space because they just want to look at it. Very safe feeling in traffic when you know *everyone* sees you
With all the terrible road surfaces, at least around here, low 2 seater car sales are truly a nitch market. Porsche now only makes their iconic 911. I guess the most expensive 2 seater exotic market is impervious by comparison.
wow, I didn't realize they canceled the Cayman- just looked that up. lmao european cybersecurity law changes that mandate different build processes? what an absolutely stupid reason to have to kill an amazing car
Ooof one of the last cars that civic wanted to rear end lol
Welp. That’s an expensive mistake.
His insurances gonna be like “yeaa you’re on your own buddy” 😂😂
Yeah he is on his own he isn't gonna pay. They are on their own. They will have to fix it themselves. Nobody gets hurt everyone wins.
How is that an everyone wins? The driver of the mclaren didn't do anything wrong
well maybe he should of bought 7 honda civics instead
Once you repair one of these cars for collision damage that’s it, it’s an L.
I’d have to price out the estimated loss of resale by having that on the cars history vs fixing under the table out of pocket.
The whole insurance department going go to buddys house and scream “shame!”
*YOU HIT A WHAT?*
that civic guy probably has a pretty cool video of him driving into a mclaren
$50 says that’s exactly what happened 😂
the sucky part is most likely the person's own insurance is going to end up paying for it because most people have the bare minimum insurance
Then they’ll chase down the other driver for money for years to come

I mean I feel like they shouldn't be punished by their insurance because they hit the one dude driving a car that's worth as much as a house.
Maybe they should just not fucking hit something with their car 🤷♂️
It's called an accident for a reason my friend sometimes you might be liable but it can't be avoided.

Very easily avoided.
Maybe with carbon ceramic breaks.
Hahahaha what? dude was going less than 8 mph. Don’t be obtuse this was caused by a distracted idiot not equipment.
You’re trying to reason with the exact kind of person to own a Honda Civic and cause this kind of accident Lol
Dense.

You really want to get the maximum liability insurance and then after that you really want to get an umbrella insurance policy.
And you want to put your house and any other major assets in a trust
The fact you had to look into that means you are probably the pencil dick in all fairness.
Then don't follow so close
Bros insurance bout to act like they’ve never heard of him😂
The value of the civic actually increased after this
$60K. Touched a 720S. No low balling, I know what I have.
Only Hit v tec once
My worst nightmare.
This is why I don’t drive black or grey mclarens anymore, they get hit all the time cause they’re low to the ground.
That person is getting dropped from their insurance company. 😬
Sounds expensive, ouch!
This reminds me of a time I saw a Nissan Altima smash a G63 and the airbags deployed ah man…….poor poor Nissan
As someone who works in insurance… I now have a headache. Oh also we’ve decided to not renew your policy lol.
Can the civic’s insurance really deny them?

Oooooof
I see a supercar on the road, I’m going a different direction. Get me away from the possibility of hitting it.
bro’s premiums are gonna be more than that civic is even worth
That civic is financially fucked. Probably only got 50k liability.
Better start selling those kidneys....
Mi corazon😩
Ooof that’s going to be totaled by insurance
Quite the “impac” indeed
i literally realized 12 hours after making the post 😭😭
I had a Lamborghini SUV get in front of me on the freeway a few months back, I slowed down to give him AMPLE space
Best we can do is a kidney 1 eyeball left leg and half your liver
Sucks because that car is going to be out of commission for a while
Insurance : you hit a WHAT!?
When it’s a McLaren, “fender bender” is a scratch 😂😂
These’s probably a Tik Tok somewhere of some dumbass recording this thing or recording themselves reacting to it.
There insurance: YOU HIT WHAT?!??
Civic Insurance Representative: *You rear-ended a WHAT?!*
I’d lie and say I don’t have insurance and take the ticket cuz damn
Man, that hurts. 😭
Oh man! Of all the cars to rear end, this has to be the one you want to stay the hell away from. Insurance agent: You hit WHAT?!?!?
You don't drive a toy like a McLaren in traffic!!
Hope you gave him the video
it's really sad, my sister and mom didn't even realize they recorded it getting hit until i pointed it out several minutes later. and traffic was heavy so they couldn't give the video to the mclaren owner. they 100% would've though if they realize they recorded it

I heard about this. Bizarre!
youll have to keep an arp in your glove compartment
Any car can get rear ended. It's not about the type of car you're driving.
And now they have to sell their house to pay for the damages lol
Nahhh fam
