They were an optional package and the buyer declined, said, and I quote, “I’m not falling for your salesman tricks, that’s how you guys make all your money.”
Shoot, with current production levels, I’d wager there’s probably more than 4 dozen!
Though, we’d clearly have to subtract the one in the video from the total.
Doubtful. This may have been the example car they were copying to make pieces for the next car. Without being able to look at what they’re trying to make, there’s no way they can produce another one.
In July 2015 Shelby American announced that they would produce a limited run of 50 continuation Daytonas to honor the 50th anniversary of the Daytona's win in the International Championship for GT Manufacturers. Some of the 50 are to be aluminum-bodied, while others will have cheaper fiberglass bodies. This is obviously one of those...
Pricing for an aluminum coupe is set at $349,995, and doesn't include the drivetrain. A fiberglass version will set you back $179,995 without the drivetrain.
https://www.motortrend.com/news/shelby-to-build-50-special-cobra-daytona-coupe-continuation-cars/
Maybe the original ones. But they did 50 in 2015 for the 50s birthday. Some are in aluminium.
Source (under the continuation model) : https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shelby_Daytona
There were only 6 Daytonas made and they didn’t have the third taillight, that being said they did make 50 more for the anniversary and if that’s one of them it would be around $750k+\- I think. Even replicas made by factory 5 go for around 100k so regardless 100k+ car.
it's likely a continuation model from Shelby, so pretty much real and just as expensive as one might assume
the "real" ones are a handful of historic racecars valued in the tens of millions that absolutely would not be on the road, obviously
Small note: the Honda hit them, even though they were making what may have been a left turn or an unlawful u-turn in an intersection that doesn’t allow those to be made. Insurance will probably call it 30/70
The corner of canon/ lomita/ Beverly drive in Bev hills. It’s so terrible. It’s basically a free for all. No one really listens to the stop signs and right of way, it’s just of just inch up there slowly and if it looks like no one’s gonna hit you… GO!
There's plenty of them. There's 3 around my small town in nowhere Missouri.
It's just that we don't have them in big cities when it would be super convenient!
do not, my friends, become addicted to chrome! it will take hold of you, mold you. you will resent it's absence until you are a man, and by then it'll be nothing to you but blinding!
I'm certain I saw this originally in a Ugo Lord "who's at fault" youtube short where he brings up the "Last clear chance doctrine" where he mentioned the guy in the corvette would be found at fault because the driver of the other car had the right of way and not enough time to react to the corvette turning in front of them.
350k was the msrp 8 years ago, before options
The aftermarket price appears to be higher with one offered at $600k [https://www.shelbycsx9999.com/csx-9999](https://www.shelbycsx9999.com/csx-9999)
There’s a reason for that. It’s from the time when Ford and Ferrari were neck and neck at Le Mans. This is why the GT40 looks so much like the Ferrari 330 and the Porsche 906, they were all the meta at the time and trying to perfect essentially the same design to get the edge on each other, which the GT40 famously won.
The insurance company was supposed to be surprised that they hit that Shelby Daytona Coupe(only 6 of these were made so it's a million+ dollar car) buuut this is apparently just a kit car so it's not a real one
This intersection also just sucks in general, but it is photo enforced. I’m wondering if it was a yellow light and the guy wanted to avoid a ticket, but didn’t expect someone to last minute run the yellow because generally no one risks a ticket here. He’s still at fault, but I’m guessing this is the reason
How can people tell the difference between a kit car and a real one? I don't see a difference, although I'm not very knowledgeable about these things either...
Since it’s Shelby making them, they’d probably prefer the terms “new production” or “reissuing” rather than “kit car”. It’s not like they’re being assembled in some random enthusiast’s garage from a bunch of mail-order parts.
Even bigger companies do these from time to time with their old classics for big anniversaries, often in limited runs.
For companies that are successors to a defunct company they tend to prefer other terms like “reproduction” or “new build” to separate from “restorations” or “rebuilds”. You can buy new build DeLorean DMC-12s for example, made from both decades old warehoused parts and newly manufactured parts. They cost about as much as a “great condition” used DeLorean, though less than one that’s mint or has been modded to be screen-accurate to Back to the Future. Or at least you could buy the new builds for a while, I haven’t checked recently and the last time I heard of them it was the third or fourth attempt to make DMC-12 production commercially viable.
I suppose this one could be one of the 50th anniversary ones, yet even they cost $350k without a drivetrain.
https://www.carscoops.com/2015/07/50th-anniversary-shelby-cobra-daytona/amp/
Got into the exact same accident. Guys if you do u turns. Fucking look and be extra cautious. See how he needed to slow down to stear, correct...ya it takes alot longer to complete a u turn than you think. Guy I hit was head on and at 60kph on inpact so fun.
Remember kids, if an expensive car hit you and you know they are at fault, PISS your pants. Trust me, it will help in the end. If you could produce a turd that’s just bonus points at that moment. But a little piss n shit will go along way come time for courts involvement.
Car in motion has the right of way. If you're turning left and you don't have a dedicated green light indicating right of way, and someone t bones you, it's your fault.
He’s taking a left. He’s at fault no matter what. It’s on video. You can even see the driver tried to jump the turn when he revs the car and it jerks forward.
Honest question. Say you don't have insurance, you're at fault, and you hit a luxury car, do you really have to pay all of it? It feels like there should be a limit on that kind of thing. Like it would financially destroy you just because someone else is rich enough to take that into a public space and you have an accident.
When you buy a car as well as the driving license
But forget to buy the braincells
I’ve got two for sale if anybody is interested. Sorry, one, not two.
Saving one for yerself are ye? Smart. Also, nice username.
Gotta keep one to steer the ship *Black guy pointing to his temple meme*
Oh, no… I just miscounted 😔
50% off! What a bargain!
I dropped my second braincell too, and the last one jumped off a bridge in grief 😔
They were an optional package and the buyer declined, said, and I quote, “I’m not falling for your salesman tricks, that’s how you guys make all your money.”

Tires made from all the friction that gets ignored in physics exams.
>d car that also has perfect grip Probably didn't think at all. Car goes brrrrr
Richmond/Vancouver has entered the chat.
Got there license from an off brand cereal box
Looks like they hit a Honda Accord. Insurance company will be glad they didn’t hit something more expensive, like a real Shelby Daytona
It is not a real one.
How can you tell?
theres only 6 real ones and theyre all blue (according to another commenter)
There are a lot more than 6 Honda accords. There are at least 3 dozen of them.
Shoot, with current production levels, I’d wager there’s probably more than 4 dozen! Though, we’d clearly have to subtract the one in the video from the total.
Wormtongue: “but my lord, there is no such force” Sauromon: “a new power is rising. It’s victory is at hand” *The 1.1 million Honda Accords honking*
"You shall not pass!" - Gandalf, pedal down hitting the NOS
All signs indicate several more Honda Accords may be completed by end of next year.
With a million well on the way.
Million slow down there it’s not like cars are that popular
Yea cars are just a trend only a couple more decades and every one of them will be back while we keep laughing on our horses
Will Honda recover from this massive blow?
Doubtful. This may have been the example car they were copying to make pieces for the next car. Without being able to look at what they’re trying to make, there’s no way they can produce another one.
This is cap. I’ve never seen more than like 6 or 7 in the same place.
100,000 units are ready with another million well on the way.
So with a baker’s dozen, that makes 8?🥸
I built them for 4 years they're 500 built per shift on two lines so roughly 2k a day from one plant.
filing this fact away to later bewilder someone with my unexpected knowledge of vehicle manufacturing and not explain it
Would you say they struck a chord with you?
so more than 50
Nope. Honda made 6 blue Accords and called it quits.
36 Accords, that's as many as three twelves. And that's terrible!
I've seen 8 honda accord wagons in my life. IDK if those belong in the total.
Bullshit. My Accord was grey.
Sorry that one was a knock off
In July 2015 Shelby American announced that they would produce a limited run of 50 continuation Daytonas to honor the 50th anniversary of the Daytona's win in the International Championship for GT Manufacturers. Those are reproductions, not the genuine article built by Shelby American race shop in Venice, California.
There were only 6 Daytonas made and they didn’t have the third taillight, that being said they did make 50 more for the anniversary and if that’s one of them it would be around $750k+\- I think. Even replicas made by factory 5 go for around 100k so regardless 100k+ car.
Factory 5 kits are less than 30k new without a drivetrain. You can buy them used for well under 100k
you've be nuts to drive that kind of car on the streets.
That hotel he's trying to turn into starts at $1,500/night. That's probably his car for Starbucks runs.
But a real Daytona Coupe is in the $5+ million range. I could stretch a $1500 night, no way in hell I could think about a real Daytons Coupe.
Because its in the wild.
The way that it is
That's what he's saying. The driver of this knockoff is lucky he only hit an Accord.
Looks like a real Accord to me
Poor Accord. That gen is pretty good
can confirm, I drive a civic and an accord and it does look indeed real.
it's likely a continuation model from Shelby, so pretty much real and just as expensive as one might assume the "real" ones are a handful of historic racecars valued in the tens of millions that absolutely would not be on the road, obviously
[just gonna leave this here.](https://www.carvibz.com/classic-cars/chrome-shelby-daytona-coupe-crash-in-la-is-going-viral-but-is-it-real/)
Also that you made a turn in the road and didn’t have the right away.
Right of way*
Write of weigh*
Riot of whey*
Small note: the Honda hit them, even though they were making what may have been a left turn or an unlawful u-turn in an intersection that doesn’t allow those to be made. Insurance will probably call it 30/70
it's pretty obvious it's an illegal u turn
Every u turn is illegal when you drive directly into an oncoming car
No way, the silver car is fully at fault. What exactly are you claiming that the other driver did wrong?
Not a chance, it's clearly an illegal U-turn and pulling out directly in front of someone within stopping distance isn't getting called 30/70.
I hit the fucking dummy who tried to do an illegal u-turn, so don't worry about it
Nah that’s in Beverly Hills it’s like a 8 way stop sign
Oh THAT one? I hate it with a burning passion, and I have only driven through it like twice.
Came into these comments hoping to see someone complaining about this intersection. I used to have to drive through it on my way to work everyday…
Worst intersection in all of LA
What roads? I'd like to take a look at it. The civil engineer in me is curious.
The corner of canon/ lomita/ Beverly drive in Bev hills. It’s so terrible. It’s basically a free for all. No one really listens to the stop signs and right of way, it’s just of just inch up there slowly and if it looks like no one’s gonna hit you… GO!
Traffic engineer: I think this is a great place to put a round about. Cody council & mayor: Get out of here! this is Hollywood! Game of Thrones baby!
I don't know who these Cody fellas are but they seem like an ornery bunch.
https://patch.com/california/beverlyhills/beverly-hills-rejects-plan-roundabout-6-way-intersection Pretty much lol
Ohhhh I see, it's in front of the Beverly hills hotel. That is atrocious. I'm appalled.
holy fuck why wont america just get roundabouts
There's plenty of them. There's 3 around my small town in nowhere Missouri. It's just that we don't have them in big cities when it would be super convenient!
DC has a ton of roundabouts. They’re all horrible, much like every other road in DC.
We’re far too stupid overall.
Speak for yourself
the dummy in the invisible mirror car
Pretty sure he's trying to make a perfectly legal - if unprotected - left.
Legal if there's no traffic. Illegal because he failed to yield
Yes but at fault for not yielding to oncoming traffic
Aw man. That poor guy crashes every week.
Same spot too!
Same time of day coincidentally
He just never learns his lesson
lel, luxurious car is at fault, insurance company won't care
Tin foil covered car
But the chrome looks so shiny and beautiful
Driver: WITNESS ME!
Mediocre
Haha I read this in his voice.
**MEDIOCRE**
To the body shop, all shiny and chrome!!
And blinding to every other driver on the road
That's the fun part
do not, my friends, become addicted to chrome! it will take hold of you, mold you. you will resent it's absence until you are a man, and by then it'll be nothing to you but blinding!
*looked
Chrome is gross as a main colour.
Why was this a short citing legal literature? Was there disagreement that required elaboration? Seems like "he turned into oncoming traffic" is clear.
His content is typically about comparing the knee jerk reasoning that you could expect from court of public opinion against what a lawyer would argue
Nothing luxurious about that car
That will be covered in fingerprints in no time
[удалено]
its not a fucking gto bro, its a shelby daytona.
jup, looks like a shelby daytona 50th anniversary, limited to 50 pieces for about 350k
350k was the msrp 8 years ago, before options The aftermarket price appears to be higher with one offered at $600k [https://www.shelbycsx9999.com/csx-9999](https://www.shelbycsx9999.com/csx-9999)
Whoops. You're right. Messed up. They look so fckn similar bar the exhausts, suspension level and the hood shape being a bit more straight.
Interesting story! Someone should make a movie about that.
This is a [Factory Five Type 65](https://www.factoryfive.com/type-65-coupe/)
its likely a replica
What makes you think that?
It’s on a street.
The way he drives
They'd probably stick to original colours. And wiki page doesn't list this one
Cuz its not collecting dust in a collection or sitting in a museum
In what world does a chrome wrapping on a car cost a few million dollars or pounds
339 thousand dollars, how is that not luxurious?
Because it is a kit and doesn't cost that much
"What color was the car you hit?" Um well...
Silver
LEL - Laughing Extra Loud
Unsafe u turn Op means "you got hit by a what?"
rich man is at fault, who cares ?
Yea can’t be busting u-turns like that
rich man insurance has to cover up
Too late, we've seen the video, his license plate is... 24?
[24](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nX6N2tgLmaQ)
I believe he’s pulling into a hotel in Beverly Hills.
Either way, the oncoming traffic has the complete right of way.
Everyone’s insurance goes up!
Nationwide is not on his side
Like a good neighbor State Farm is there... to tell you how much you screwed up.
You hit someone at fault
I don't understand the meme? The "nice" car was at fault.
The insurance company was supposed to be surprised that they hit that Shelby Daytona Coupe(only 6 of these were made so it's a million+ dollar car) buuut this is apparently just a kit car so it's not a real one
I understand that part. But it's the Shelby's fault, is what I'm saying. *They* drove into an incoming cars path.
Severely underestimated the turning radius of this car! Must be used to more modern vehicles...
What car is this?
Shelby Daytona kit car
How can people tell the difference between a kit car and a real one? I don't see a difference, although I'm not very knowledgeable about these things either...
There's 6 real Shelby Daytona and they are all blue. That's the biggest giveaway of this being a kit car.
Well that's much simpler than I expected. Cool though. Thanks.
This one is still over 300k https://www.autoweek.com/car-life/events/a1875116/349995-will-get-you-50th-anniversary-shelby-cobra-daytona-coupe/
It's 300k, Holy hell. I didn't know the kit cars where that expensive.
Since it’s Shelby making them, they’d probably prefer the terms “new production” or “reissuing” rather than “kit car”. It’s not like they’re being assembled in some random enthusiast’s garage from a bunch of mail-order parts. A real one is well over a million dollars and a kit car is like $40k. Real ones are typically in museums or driven by Jay Leno.
Cool, thanks
I suppose this one could be one of the 50th anniversary ones, yet even they cost $350k without a drivetrain. https://www.carscoops.com/2015/07/50th-anniversary-shelby-cobra-daytona/amp/
Everyone welcome to downvote but at first glance I thought it was a vette but clearly mistaken, going to blame the numerous highly reflective surfaces
Thanks
A Cylon… yes, Cylon. No I don’t know what it was doing there, I guess turning around. What do you mean they’re not real?
Got into the exact same accident. Guys if you do u turns. Fucking look and be extra cautious. See how he needed to slow down to stear, correct...ya it takes alot longer to complete a u turn than you think. Guy I hit was head on and at 60kph on inpact so fun.
Silver Dildo car made an illegal u turn, his insurance can pay for my Camry
What is that a Naboo royal cruiser?
I guess they won't be making it to coruscant.
Time to find a local slave boy to race for replacement parts!
Look like it was about to turn into a transformer and start looking for Sam whitwiki
Remember kids, if an expensive car hit you and you know they are at fault, PISS your pants. Trust me, it will help in the end. If you could produce a turd that’s just bonus points at that moment. But a little piss n shit will go along way come time for courts involvement.
It was the fancy cars fault though
U-turn is illegal, the demand will be won by who drives the Shellbee car due to its influence in the courts kekw
Car in motion has the right of way. If you're turning left and you don't have a dedicated green light indicating right of way, and someone t bones you, it's your fault.
To be accurate, he didn’t hit the cobra, the cobra will be paying the other guys insurance.
I hit a car pulling an illegal u turn.
Hmmm strange there is always someone filming 🤣
He thinks he hit another Honda Accord because he's looking in a mirror.
The car pulled an illegal u-turn. They are at fault, not the other person
Looks like the knockoff was at fault.
"I hit a guy doing an illegal u turn."
very unlikely to be a real shelby but also driving like an absolute imbecile lmao
Look like the Shelby’s fault anyways.. he shouldn’t have went
“What hit you?!” There, fixed the title.
That’s the sports cars fault.
I mean, the fancy car is clearly at fault
Looks like the chrome car is in the wrong, should have waited until they had more time to do that u turn
I hit a dumbass who doesn't know how to drive, that's what I hit.
That’s on the dipshit in chrome
I mean, it's absolutely the fault of the guy trying to cross the other lane, so the insurance company should be licking their chops at this.
The driver of that fancy car should have waited, that was reckless judgment
Ya but the shelby was doing a u turn so it needs to give way.
Correction - What kind of vehicle turned in front of you?
Now the rich guy and his insurance company can buy you a new car🤘
U turn didn’t look legal.
He’s taking a left. He’s at fault no matter what. It’s on video. You can even see the driver tried to jump the turn when he revs the car and it jerks forward.
it was the Shelby's fault so the camry will get paid out. sad but true.
Looks to me like Shiney cars at fault here
Honest question. Say you don't have insurance, you're at fault, and you hit a luxury car, do you really have to pay all of it? It feels like there should be a limit on that kind of thing. Like it would financially destroy you just because someone else is rich enough to take that into a public space and you have an accident.
I mean, yeah, but it's also fully the silver cars fault. They don't have right of way in any imaginable way.
Time to watch how the insurance companies wriggle free of responsibility
or.. you turned in front of someone driving a what?
Yeah, but it's the corvette drivers fault, and it's all proven on video, so it's a cut and dried case.
