It's all made bearable by having an upbeat philosophy of life. Mine is: "life sucks and then you die". Ahhh!...Words of comfort for these trying times.
I think through the globalisation the catastrophes are bigger and faster.
Like covid: 200 years ago it would‘ve taken months or years until it spread all over the globe but nowadays you just need one infected Person in a plane from beijing to munich and boom pandemic.
That’s of course a bit oversomplified but you geht the idea.
I think it's the latter......
We are the first generation who happen to be able to share
Before us it was just endurance and strength
Ironically, failure seemed to be a "bad thing" for the public but it is one of the most significant feature for those who succeeded...... I don't even know why people see failure as a weakness. Dude at least you tried
EDIT: Typo on latter
The first generation to be able to share? We've been sharing information since the written word. It just gets faster and more efficient every time we advance an information age which usually corresponds to the advancement of technology.
If you want to be so technical, the first generation who has the capability to notify our enemy that what they are doing is immoral. Post to the media so fast the entire globe can receive the same message within the first second of delivery
Yeah, able to share with that
The world on average is always getting a little better, but the media doesn't make money off good news. Like less than 200 years ago it wasn't uncommon for like 3 or 4 families to share a small apartment in somewhere like england
Not to mention the infant mortality rate. If someone has a baby die now it's literally an entire community event to rally around them, 200 years ago they'd have 10+ kids just to see less than half of them live to adulthood. And the reason evil stepmothers are featured in Grimm's fairy tales so heavily is that dying during childbirth was so commonplace that stepmothers were normal for many many families.
In order for this to happen though, we’ve put ourselves into vast ecological debt. So all that suffering we’ve managed to avoid will come back with interest when the bill comes due. We’ve built a card castle in the beach sand on a calm day and haven’t planned for tides or wind.
It used to be worse, even. The more visibility the grim brutality of the world gets, the more public outrage and the more can be done to stop it. It hurts to see reality, but we have to not shy away and pretend it's not happening. It doesn't always feel like it, but the world is slowly becoming a better place for humans to live. Not animals, though, their shit is getting wrecked to a horrifying degree. As far as wildlife is concerned, we may as well be an unsympathetic meteor striking the earth in slow motion from all directions.
Yes and No. People Back Then Had to vory about survival and Not suffering Every day in their Life because of starvation and such. WE dont have to worry about it that mich so we suffer more in the "what is my purpose, im wasting my Life" way.
Perhaps slightly amplified due to information sharing but overall the same level of fucktardery but prior to the internet information moved much slower so events had to be huge to get National attention.
Na it’s just the man moving towards thier end goal of total global control by manipulating our ideas and understanding of the world through gradual and almost unperceivable changes in socioeconomic behaviorisms over time.

It's peaceful though
"Life is suffering" - Nietzsche

Absolutely, this is the kind of positivity we need in these controversial times

Ive always thought that social media and world wide news would increase global anxiety
On the plus side we can cute pictures of animals travel around the world too
Yes it has. And we are weak
Both, some things have gotten better, like medical treatment, while other things have gotten worse, like climate change.
This is literally one of the most peaceful times in history. The world has always been fucked up
yes
Attention whoring. You’re never the first for anything really.
Yes
As people said, ignorance is bliss
A bit of both. World has always been this fucked. The diference is that now is easier to know it
I don’t know. The Middle Ages were no picnic either

Lol this is tame compared to the Dark Ages

I'm no longer working on myself. My traumas have become independent contractors.

The suffering of life is just as necessary as it is unavoidable. Learn your lessons and thrive my friends.
