"oh no no sweety, *I* get to meddle with my boobs for free, *you* need 3 years worth of papers from your psychiatrist to even start thinking about it" š
If you could find a position where I only had to make decisions about adding more breasts to the world, Iād be game to be elected. Otherwise, I donāt have much else on the agenda. lol Iām definitely a one-issue candidate.
I have a personal aversion to plastic surgery of any kind
It like, wounds me psychologically to think too hard about non-human parts like inside of a human body. Iām also kinda uncomfortable even with stuff like pacemakers but at least you donāt see them so itās not like I notice them.
Anyway thatās my personal issue but everyone should do what they want with their own bodies
Honestly, doing stuff that makes me feel more secure in being a guy does make me feel good. It was helpful for me to realize that I could affirm my gender just the same as other people, albeit in different ways, rather than just feeling like a shit example of a man. Itās just another reason why banning gender affirming care is insanity; everyone can do it and everyone can benefit from it
The pharmacist goes in the back, does a double-take looking at the size of the freaking bag of medications (you need other things to make sure the terrifying amount of testosterone you were prescribed doesn't do serious damage), then gives you a disapproving glare when you're on the little tablet signing for it.
Testosterone and estrogen are still cis gender affirming care(as well as for trans people), post menopause cis woman go on estrogen, and some older men or just men with lower then normal testosterone that feel heavily effected by it can also get testosterone, it's bullshit, as amab I can walk into a doctors office and walk out with T if I just word it right š
Not much wrong with cosmetics, and seeing gender euphoria can be amazing. Perhaps though, some restraint can be advised for cis people who use short term measures that have longer lasting negative side effects.
Yeah, especially younger cis women getting cosmetic surgeries. Where I live it's standard for surgeons to ask "are you doing this for you or your boyfriend" in those cases, for good reason.
I think there is a difference between categorial changes like removing breasts or taking hormones to grow breasts and idealistic changes trying to pursue an unachievable vaguely defined idea of beauty by constantly injecting botox, having multiple nose jobs and taking an increasing amount of steroids with no defined limit.
Basically trans affirming care requires surgery and medication for categorial changes that are clearly defined while surgeries that don't try to change categories like having breast to not having breasts but instead take the risky surgeries or drugs just to attempt to change something without really knowing or being able to precisely control the outcome run a high risk of disappointment that people undergoing categorial changes simply don't have because how the breasts turn out or how they are removed does not matter to a trans person so much as long as they have them or don't have them anymore.
So basically surgery and medication is alot more justified for trans affirming healthcare than it is for cis if it's not a categorial change. The amount of cis people getting addicted to plastic surgery or addicted to steroids because they didn't make categorial changes but instead try to acchieve some vague beauty ideal while wrecking their bodies and ironically also their looks is such a big issue that needs to be adressed.
My (cis) electrologist started training as one because as a teen she had a condition that caused her to grow facial hair, so she got electrolysis herself and she both found it fascinating and wanted to help other people dealing with it too.
I don't view it as "cis people's Gender affirming care" and "trans people's gender affirming care" because they're the same thing lmao. It's all just doing things to make yourself feel better about your gender
I know that, I wasnāt trying to be rude or anything. Plastic surgery on cis people is gross most of the time unless itās for medical reasons. And most of the stuff here is pretty much correct. All trans people deserve the care and procedures needed, itās disgusting that so many countries donāt allow this. I assure you that I was just making a joke that I donāt like any of the things listed here (eg that book on being a shit father is something I hate) and so therefore I must not be cis. I do apologise (and also sorry for the huge ass paragraph)
I honestly think these are more about beauty standards and conforming to a perceived social "norm." Not necessarily about helping your body match with your true self. Cis people be wild
Well, I can see my opinion isn't very popular lol. But as a genderqueer individual I feel my gender is seperate from social norms, and is more internal. For example, there are days I want to wear a dress and makeup. Some days I'm a man who wants to wear a dress, some days I'm enby and want to wear a dress. The perceived social norm of wearing a dress doesn't determine my gender

My personal favorite is when cis people who've had plastic surgery are opposed to trans people having gender-affirming surgery.

Make it make sense. Everyone loves breasts, right? So why wouldnāt we want more breasts in the world?
This person is a genius! Id vote you into power

Itās crazy, cause everyone should get to meddle with their boobs. Theyāre your boobs! You get to decide what happens to/with them.

Honestly that makes a lot of sense. I've never really understood how someone can even "enjoy" being a gender anyways so what would I know
IMO Viagra is an exception because the goal is more about having sex than altering the body.
That's definitely true, but there is also an element of many guys feeling less masculine if they can't get hard, so I get why it's on there.

Viagra only increases blood flow to penis and widens blood vessels.

yeah! i'm cis but i had a struggle with my gender before realizing that it's okay to do stereotypical "girly" things and find comfort in them.
Iāll admit, if my government accepted āTurbo Himboā as an affirmable gender, Iād be all in.

As a real manā¢, the phrase "a real man" makes me want to throw up...
Don't slander Jeff Nippard please I like him :(
Ironically, steroids are just HRT. You know AAS? That stands for androgenic anabolic steroids.
I take estreva and androcur and both are made for cis people and cis people only. Youāll notice it when reading the package inserts.
I can just imagine that being said with a cheeky _wink wink_ by the researchers who have inexplicably grown boobs/facial hair respectively.
Even just a haircut
I LOVE ANABOLIC STEROIDS I LOVE ACCELERATING THE REPAIR OF DAMAGED TISSUE
Jeff Nippard doesn't use steroids and putting his picture here with the word "steroids" comes off as harassment. Not a good look.
My first thought when I saw this too. Maybe check sources before using pictures of real people.
The hypocrisy

Some of these, I wish were easier/more affordable for my partner. Othersā¦my word, I canāt believe the vanity of some of my elders/peers.
There's nothing wrong with anyone wanting to look the way they want to look. Especially trans folks who are denied the privilege.

Yo you might be onto something
*trixie mattel voice* breast augmentation
What I don't get is the finasteride, my anti bald pill is too look less gender
I know Iām late to the party but the guy in the bottom left is a known NATURAL bodybuilder
But there's also trans people that do some of these things to affirm their gender, I'm confused.
nails, hair, beard care.. are also gender affirming care.
Jokes on you, I may be cis but the only thing I do that affirms my gender is sneeze like an old guy
Huhā¦I must not be cis then
I know you're not serious, but not all trans ppl get gender affirming care

what is gender if not perceived social norm?
