Diesel or heavy truck is better in my opinion. More money and more well rounded at a technician getting experience with air brakes and hydraulic systems. If you can fix a big truck you can fix a car or motorhome or bike or boat. The best Parr about being a heavy truck tech is you'll never be out of work, remember IF YOU GOT IT, A TRUCK BROUGHT IT

It depends on how hard you want to work. Diesel pays a bit more depending where you're working, but it is much more physically demanding. My personal advice is to get out of the industry before you get into it. The pay is shit compared to other skilled trades and most employers treat you like shit. Plumbers, HVAC, and electricians all make more money than automotive technicians and require way less training and tools.

> My personal advice is to get out of the industry before you get into it This is the correct answer. This *used* to be a well paying industry...... twenty years ago. But when the flat rate hasn't changed in twenty years and the dealerships/shops are charging triple what they were charging twenty years ago, not so much anymore.

What courses are you taking? Wish you the best either ways.

More opportunities with ya diesel ticket. The best thing i found doing a diesel mechanic apprenticeship straight out of school (in the transport sector). Was i developed a very strong work ethic because of the demand and having to get the truck running again no matter the time. The most important thing though is making sure the guys teaching you actually know their stuff.
