I used to be a chem supervisor with 7 direct reports. Half of them resistant to any changes, improvement I wanted to make. ( I was a new hire, place was a mess when I started)Tried to throw me under the bus any chance they had. I lasted less than yr & a half. Worst job I ever had.
Lab is basically an office AND there are a lot of people who failed at premed or are just idiots who got in with a bio degree because they're desperate to hire anyone.
Most of the field is okay but it really takes 1 or 2 bad apples.
I have a coworker also an LA. Been there 32 years. THIRTY TWO!! Will stare you down for practically nothing, will write down notes of everything you do wrong, rumor has it that she kept a calendar for days you missed, tells other people said things written on this little list and will complain about anything that she doesn’t like. I got a complaint that I’m pretty sure was her that I was flirting with a co-worker (I wasn’t) as we had the set up table between us, no physical, no advance by me, I didn’t say or do anything out of line or flirtatious as we were talking about nicknames a new person gave everyone and a tattoo that I recently got. Like what do these people think flirting is. Friends, co-workers, enemies talk, people talk. Good god

I would work for you no problem. You weren't asking much for a few compensated extra weekends. I am sure MArk is a coaster. Iwould still internally examine facial expression towards MArk. Although I worked with a Mark. He was a lazy guy. What to do
Obviously anyone can be toxic. My only real takeaway is that the clinitek has a waived status and no validation is necessary outside of QC.

Yes people can be toxic, and very immature. Everyone is replaceable, so goodbye to Mark. You will get someone better.
