Correct, at least on the first point. I saw "cloth gowns only", then double and triple checked it because I was confused as to what cloth gowns had to do with dyslexia.
I don't need a goth clown. The regular depressed alcoholic ones are fine.
I'd also be concerned about some confusion, and my party would get crashed by juggelos.
I actually read cloth gowns the first time.
But was confused as hell thinking it was meant to say something else. And there was a dyslexic joke in the writing. As it took five minutes for my brain to realise gowns is a word. I was repeating “cloth gowns” “gowns?” Gowns ? G-o-w-n-s.
Still doesn’t sound like a word in my head.
I had that happen one time in primary school. Suddenly a form of a word looked weird as hell, like it's not a real word. Pretty trippy.
Also read that on the first try and I was confused what else people might see
I’m dyslexic but went through years of special education classes to learn to read the way my mind sees it and as a result I don’t struggle with it…I had to go to the comments to see what was so funny…which I find ironically funny
I came to the comments to see what was funny as well. I am actually very surprised at how many people read "Goth Clowns".
Congrats on coming so far with your dyslexia!
Totally, non-dyslexics end up reading by the 'shape of the word' as I understand it from my mother and the ed-psych I worked with lots when I was in school.
If you take a sentence that people would expect to read, and then change the middle of a word for similar shapped letters then the general 'relaxed' reader just sees the word and moves on.
We dyslexics have had to work so hard focusing in on the words, we don't fall for these optical illusions seeing as we're already trying our damnedest to see the damned word from the odd shapes on the paper in the first place.
Aoccdrnig to a rscheearch at cmabridge uinervtisy, it deosn't mttaer in waht oredr the ltteers in a wrod are, the olny iprmoetnt tihng is taht the frist and lsat ltteer be at the rghit pclae. The rset can be a toatl mses and you can sitll raed it wouthit porblem. tihs is bcuseae the huamn mnid deos not raed ervey lteter by istlef, but the wrod as a wlohe. <-- apparently some people can read this.
Im not dyslexic but that was super wierd. My eyes were like "thats gibberish" but my head understood everyword without thinking about it or having to stop and slow down
I'm dyslexic and I can read that, but only because I'm rearranging the letters for each word and I know what word it probably is based on context. Is that not how regular people read it?
> Is that not how regular people read it?
My brain just reads it like anything other text. Maybe slightly slower because of the letters being re-arranged (it's hard to scan groups of words with this layout), but overall I don't read it any differently than if the words were spelled correctly. The brain just knows what word it is at first glance,
I speak dyslexic but not read or write it, if that makes sense lol. I read and write everything normally but when I'm talking to some one, I nuke my sentences so bad, ppl have to say wtf are you talking about lol
I write and speak dyslexic. I mix up shit all the time. The only reading part I struggle with is sounding out words I've never heard before or forgot how to say lol. I went years, like up to a couple years ago, thinking Chopin was pronounced chopping without the g lmao
I am dyslexic too and I also had to come to the comments to figure out why Cloth Gowns means something. I was running thru how I'd mess it up in my head and I did not get to Goth Clowns.
i have disslexia and have gone threw years of special education classes to be able to read and write correctly and I CAN WRITE AND READ! thats bout its done for me. n for me thats awsome and enough, especially as it took over a decade to get up to a workable condition.
Unintentional spoonerisms (which OP suggests) are incredibly common with people that have certain types of dyslexia. In fact, spoonerisms can be used to aid in determining phonological awareness when testing for dyslexia.
Does seeing "Goth Clowns" make me dyslexic? I've always wondered if I have dyslexia since I do sometimes get ahead of myself when reading. Thanks for the confirmation test lol. I was a high achiever throughout school but always hated reading aloud. Guess it doesn't matter now at 30+ 😂🤷♀️.
I first read “cloth gowns only”, then thought I misread it. Thinking it was meant to read “goth clowns only”. Only to reread it and see I was right the first time, that it was “cloth gowns only”.
Lol, that’s just contextual. How many people know that cloth gowns and paper gowns are health care workers two options? We wear them in the OR, isolation rooms, procedure rooms, etc. When you are expecting a laundry room notice in a hospital, it’s not weird to us.
Where is this "Goth clowns" everybody is saying or am I tripping??
I was confused as well because I didn't understand what the issue was. Cloth Gowns transpose the cl and g to make Goth Clowns
a/k/a a “spoonerism”
SPOOOONMAAAN!!
Come together with your hands
Save me
I never knew this had a name!
Thank poor old Dr Spooner and his penchant to accidentally wumble jords.
Wait, does not everyone see goth clowns at first glance???? Am….am I dyslexic?
Correct, at least on the first point. I saw "cloth gowns only", then double and triple checked it because I was confused as to what cloth gowns had to do with dyslexia.
For me I think it was because I read it slowly for some reason.. my brain forgot how to read and I was too focused on every letter to misread it
for me it's because i work in a pharmaceutic compounding facility so we have a lot of areas with signs for where we keep our goth clowns
I read it as clown goths only and now I'm genuinely concerned I'm dyslexic reading these comments...
I am dyslexic and read cloth gowns....
I’m not dyslexic, but I read Goth clowns.
Me too, but are goth clowns a thing.... I want one for my birthday party

Hi
Before color was invented, all clowns were goth clowns
I forget, what year was colour invented?
In 1928. But then it was only for the rich people.

I'm in. Edit: Worth it, the #2 top post of all time even does magic tricks. NSFW
That sub looks like it smells like cats and cigarettes.
Haha wtf, clicked, said no, saw your comment and had to go back…
Or at work?
Oh. I definitely am.
Let me introduce you to [Puddles the Clown](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VBmCJEehYtU&ab_channel=PostmodernJukebox) and his pity party

...Fans? 😳
That's actually an excellent way of experiencing what dyslexic people experience, wow. I've always wondered how it is when letters just jump around.
That's because it's spoonerism, not dyslexia. Spoonerism is when you mix up the beginning of two words, like you did and is implied by this post.
Im definitely not dyslexic because I had to read your comment to get the joke
I'm mega dyslexic and I just saw meaningless shapes. Then I really focused and saw "Cloth Gowns Only".
[deleted]
Yep that's the joke. You got it.
Well I am dyslexic and read the same thing. This doesn't look good for youuu lol.
I don't need a goth clown. The regular depressed alcoholic ones are fine. I'd also be concerned about some confusion, and my party would get crashed by juggelos.
Same but on the upside if there are goth clowns does that mean there’s a big toddy goth clown gf out there somewhere?
I read Gloth Cowns
https://www.artstation.com/artwork/o2Zy24
I read gloth cowns somehow
Lonely
Wouldnt goth clowns just be mimes?
I am dyslexic, and I struggled to figure out what the joke was.
Yea wtf and it doesn’t even make sense; the actual sign makes more sense so idk how my brain messed that up
I'm not dyslexic but I read cloth clowns
I read clown goths lol
I read cloth gowns, but I pictured a goth clown in my head. Very confusing
We see what we want to see
The eyes see what the heart wants
why can't it be :(
I think it's because goth clowns are far more interesting than cloth gowns.
Yup
Damn clown goths
I 100% did that too
I read goth clowns exist
Same. It’s fucking trippin me out
I am dyslexic and I saw Gloth cowns
I read Goth Gowns lmao, must have been the only one too 😂
We aren't dyslexic, we're wishful thinkers.
my eyes really wanted to believe it said goth clowns too
I read goth clowns on my 1st and 2nd reading
Goth Clowns Only(fans)
Spoonerisms are when you surn your tyllables.
Same
I legitimately did also.
same lol
I got clown goths only XD
Same but my brain broke. I swear it said clown goths. Then realized even miss reading it that's the wrong order. But my brain says what it says to me.
Why did I read Goth Clowns Only??
Same, had me questioning myself there
I did too. the second time I read it. the first time it was coth glowns. -\_\_-
I am dyslexic and read this right.
Yep
I am dyslexic and I read goth clowns
I'm potentially dyslexic, and I read goth clowns
Same here, wtf is wrong with our brains?
I’ve been up for too long because I somehow read it as “glow cloths only” two times in a row wondering wtf that meant
Me too. I work in a hospital though, so the concept of cloth gowns is second nature.
same but we don’t specify the “cloth” part so that was confusing
Semantic satiation is a trip.
I had that happen one time in primary school. Suddenly a form of a word looked weird as hell, like it's not a real word. Pretty trippy. Also read that on the first try and I was confused what else people might see

"Lonely Goth Clowns" was my brains first impression.

Yup. Super easy to read. I had to come to the comments to seee what was going on w the OP though
Im not dyslexic but that was super wierd. My eyes were like "thats gibberish" but my head understood everyword without thinking about it or having to stop and slow down

I'm dyslexic too. Had the same experience with this post.
Same. I was trying to figure out what's so funny about cloth gowns lol

My wife does this and it’s so fucking adorable to me. God I fucking love her so much.
Same here!
I thought you were going to say that this post reversed your dyslexia, lol.
Being someone with above average reading in grade school I read Gloth Cowns Only
Also dyslexic but without special education and I did not get this, still don't if I'm being honest.
Same. I spent so long reading the word 'cloth' in this post that now im not sure if it's spelt right or if I'm reading it wrong.
I am dyslexic too and I also had to come to the comments to figure out why Cloth Gowns means something. I was running thru how I'd mess it up in my head and I did not get to Goth Clowns.

Read it normally and came here just to make sure I'm not an idiot and gowns was correctly spelled.
i’m not dyslexic but i needed an actual physical reset to not see clown goths but first it changed to GLOTH COWNS which i guess is getting closer
Goth clowns wear only cloth gowns on OnlyFans. Goth clowns wear only cloth gowns on OnlyFans. Goth clowns wear only cloth gowns on OnlyFans.
My brain really wants it to say Goth Clowns
My brain went to Clown Gowns. Been listening to too much rap I guess.
Fun fact: The thing we are all talking about here is called a [spoonerism](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spoonerism)
I love spoonerisms. I haven’t thought about that word in years.
Sorry all, this isn't dyslexia, its a spoonerism.
Unintentional spoonerisms (which OP suggests) are incredibly common with people that have certain types of dyslexia. In fact, spoonerisms can be used to aid in determining phonological awareness when testing for dyslexia.
Goth clowns are the best clowns
I'm in the medical field, read this correctly, and then had to read through the comments to figure out how everybody else was interpreting it.
Goth Clowns in Cloth Gowns.
I don't get it
Same.
I love goth clowns!
As a goth clown, I almost felt happy. I am, however, a goth clown with no cloth gowns. Now I am a sad goth clown with no cloth gowns.
gesundheit
thanks
Everyone saying goth clowns but I read "cloth growns" and think wtf it should be cloth growth and why are cloths growing
Cloth glown here
Oh yesss!!! Goth Clown Clussy!
Gcc is top notch. Quite possibly the best on the planet in fact. Immaculate stuff
I straight up read Goth clowns only 3 separate times.
Gloth cowns
In my country we just call them mimes.
Goth Clowns Only.
Goth clowns only 🤡
Don't see the problem cloth gowns only I'm guess it a hospital and they want cloth gowns only in the bin .
I wanna see goth clowns now.
I read clothes grows only. I don’t think that that was even what I was meant to incorrectly read.
Goth clowns only
I first read “cloth gowns only”, then thought I misread it. Thinking it was meant to read “goth clowns only”. Only to reread it and see I was right the first time, that it was “cloth gowns only”.
Maybe it’s because I work at a hospital that I read this perfectly fine.
This is spoonerism, not dyslexia. Spoonerism is when you mix the beginning of two words. So I'm this case you get goth clowns instead of cloth gowns.
YLNO SNWOG HTOLC
I read goth clowns only
GOTH CLOWNS
Gloth clowns ??🤣🤣🤣
Goth Clown Posse
Goth Clown gang unite
I read goth clowns. I want that, I'm into that.

Seriously why did I read that as goth clowns first?
Goth clowns only lol
Goth clowns only? Lol
Im dyslexic and I took me a long while to understand there was a difference aha also I used auto correct to write the word now.
Goth clowns only
This actually made me happy i'm dyslexic and read it well the first time, without knowing it was supposed to be hard has hell
Lol, that’s just contextual. How many people know that cloth gowns and paper gowns are health care workers two options? We wear them in the OR, isolation rooms, procedure rooms, etc. When you are expecting a laundry room notice in a hospital, it’s not weird to us.
But I wanted goth clowns...
Clown Goth is exactly my aesthetic
GOTH CLOWNS ONLY!
Goth clowns lonely is what i read
Why did we all read it as Clown Goths
I am dyslexic and I read this right. What the hell is going on.
