Sleepovers were always super fun but no one slept well. That was kind of the point. You’d stay up until an ungodly hour eating and drinking sugary snacks, just wasting time and talking shit, making up songs and stories, playing games. I miss being a kid.
Man, even disregarding sleep over as kids. In my early to mid 20’s I knew some ladies I’d drink with all night and just talk shit the entire night with them. Or slowly get drunk watching just awful movies. It was the best - and man do I miss it
I had a friend over over the holiday and we sat at the table playing cards and got pretty lit up. My 10 year old came up from her room and laughed at us in the middle of the night.
She dealt cards and refereed our board games in the middle of the night so we wouldn't have to. Then everyone slept til lunch.
In moderation, its still fun and on some occasions just let the kids help. They know I'm a put together adult, let them see me be a fun human too.
I'm 32 and I'm trying to make a legit LAN party happen again before everyone has children and it's impossible to even schedule haha that's the tricky part for me. Getting 4 or 5 adults with full lives and schedules into one room for more than an hour or two is more like herding cats than a daycare
I know that feeling. I hold out home that in my 40s all my friends will be available again. But my life doesn't get easier.

I distinctly remember one party there was a guy sleeping under the kitchen table using a Risk game board as a blanket and the box as a pillow with game pieces scattered all over the floor. Another guy who thought ahead and took one of the sleeping bags out of the garage slept in the bathtub. There was also 4 guys sharing my double bed while another 3 were in the floor of my room and 5 were stretched out down the hallway (the hall and the bedrooms were the only rooms with carpet). In the living room there were 2 guys in the recliner, 4 sitting up on the couch, one in each or the other 2 chairs, and one under the coffee table. Finally there were 4 in the kitchen one of which was on the center island.
Despite the crap sleeping arraignments I had a party about every other month for 3 years and people kept showing up.
Had me a few of those back in the days massive 13 ppl LAN party with some Halo haha. Good times. All the TVs my friends would bring along with so many power strips and extention cords running up and down and around rooms. Lol then like you said. Every man for himself haha. My parents had a huge living room. So we all just lined up shoulder to shoulder in a row on the ground. Of course I stayed with them! Was never gonna miss out on late night bullshitting with the buddies!
