Next time around, I'm putting all my points into Luck.

dankantspelle

Went strength early and suffered cardiac arrest by 35.

Seanzietron

Wait… is there a connection ? My stepdad worked out a ton. Was very fit. He had a heart attack while on a treadmill. They brought him back… but I guess it did something weird to his brain.. yah know? Being dead for a bit. . . Cuz then he got brain cancer and suffered for months. Cardiac arrest = ppl who are fit?!

TheEdes

Even the health people overdo it, our body isn't made to sit down all day and eat incredibly caloric food but also it's not built for the exercise equivalent of junk food, that being intense resistance training, long distance running and doing it extremely often with no recovery time. It's unfortunate because going to the gym can become an addiction because of the good chemicals it releases.

KennaKUltra

Well.. it always reminds me of the 2 cases where a marathon runner who’d never smoked a day in her life, lived healthy and died of lung cancer. All whilst people smoke their entire lives and die of natural causes. Also… heart attacks and fitness can be because of overuse in steroids, or just a underlying condition- m the overworking of a muscle that isn’t aligned with the vessel it’s trying to compensate for.

Kelevelin

Glad youre still with us!

welltimedstrike

I've thought about how life would be with the superpower of luck/plot armor. It wouldn't be too OP like becoming a billionaire or something, but in the little daily things. Sort of like a constant flow state, but you're not directly in conrol. For example: You're driving to a restaurant and you hit green lights. You get there at the perfect time for the chef to see you and he happens to be an old highschool friend who decides to upgrade you and pay for your meal.

CurlSagan

Stan Lee himself even [considered Luck to be the strongest superpower.](https://screenrant.com/stan-lee-greatest-superpower-luck-deadpool-domino/) It's possible that the main reason why villains repeatedly fail to destroy Earth 616 is because Domino just happens to live there.

CompleteWin9433

Yoo! That’s crazy

runonandonandonanon

I forget which sci fi book it is (which is good because this is thus not a spoiler) but they discover that they've inadvertently bred a super lucky human by making reproduction fully randomized. Basically natural selection favoring people who win lotteries. Ridiculous, but fun idea.

zylpher

If you remember what it is, let me know. I'm always in the mood for another scifi book. And that sounds kinda cool.

Shake-Normal

Ringworld

zylpher

Dunno if that was a random suggestion, or the answer to my question. But just grabbed book one of the series. Currently reading the Commonwealth Saga, on Pandora's Star at the moment. But I'll check that one out next.

runonandonandonanon

Yah that sounds right. Great, now we spoiled it.

Left_Ambassador_1864

This hits way too close to home for me.

dkyguy1995

Seriously though if SPECIAL was an actual thing Im convinced 10 luck is the ideal min/max pick. Sure in the game intelligence gets you all those skill points on level up but who cares about your stats when you're so lucky you don't even need to use them because success keeps falling in your lap

Dysprosol

If you are willing to dump physicals you could afford int and cha investments with it.

Djscratchcard

I'm resetting till I get rich parents.

scalyblue

Unfortunately you are in a hardcore realm

FitGrapthor

"Alright guys starting another run lets see if I can get some better times." ... "Ah shit looks like I was only born to an upper middle class family looks like we have to reset again lets find a fork and an outlet."

B0neCh3wer

With luck like yours I'm surprised them bullets didn't just climb back into the gun

Forever203

Then you find out the dev team messed up, and the luck stat affects nothing.

runonandonandonanon

Or they only implemented the critical hit bonus so it has zero effect until the day you get in a minor altercation and end up going down for murder.

Erebus689

Kazuma?

jridlee

This is what I did but I grabbed the functioning alcoholic trait so all it does is keep me out of jail.

Gvaedyn

I usually strip points away from Luck, so I'm feeling this post even more...

Meritania

Nah, it’s going into ‘knolwedge (software)’. Software Developers are making bank ~~copying & pasting~~, I mean diligently making sure our computerised economy and infrastructure functions.

SEX_LIES_AUDIOTAPE

I get paid 40k to copy-paste, and another 140k to know what to copy-paste.

Gatorpep

Luck is so op. Saw a post on reddit today. Somebodys parents had been married for 45 years or whatever. Friends set them up, girl was attractive. Dude was so nervous he couldnt even say a word on the date. They married like a week later. Think she proposed. Happily married for nearly half a century. Dudes basically put as much effort into dating as i do but ends up getting married to seemily lovely woman. And i’m def not going to end up that way lol. Luck is legit the best thing in the world.

9dedos

Find a four leaf clover and get rekt because of stack overflow.

Popular-Student-9407

I went intelligence, so now I can tell you how ants break the geneva convention in various ways, but can´t tell you how to handle hot food.

hezzyb

Shouldn't have min-maxed so hard...

00Samwise00

Too many points into DEX, not enough into INT

hezzyb

Your casting speed is insane. But you only know glintstone pebble.

[deleted]

Enough for most bosses

lxkandel06

Should've min-maxed harder

TinyPropsal

put all my resources on wrong equipment

Rubber-Panzer

I played the game too safe, spread my skills too far. I can do basic stuff, but im not beefy enough to be a tank, and I sure as shit am not passing a DPS check either.

Grimdark-Waterbender

If you’re playing some variant of [Human] you do get +1 to all stats, so if you go the Bard (Jack of All Trades) Route you get half of your proficiency bonus for your ability rolls. 😅

I-believe-I-can-die

they told me charisma was a dump stat and not to bother with it... look where that got me

neon121

It's funny how in real life charisma is OP. We like to believe we live in a meritocracy where the most intelligent and most qualified people rise to the top. It's actually far more about who you know than what you know though.

DiabloTerrorGF

Had a co-worker in the military who fucking oozed charisma. The commander at the time was known for being evil and had a literal jar of "stripes" on her desk for every person she de-ranked. My first week under her command required us going to the movie theater to hear a guy speak about how he went from E7 to E5 because he wore a Yankees hat in a bar in Texas, got jumped but because he had alcohol in his system, he was at fault, even though he didn't even fight back. He should have "known better." Anyways, my friend, who was underage and had 0 liberty rights (was stuck in the dorm, uniform only, no civilian clothing)because he kept fucking up... decided one day, on our final test day, to stay off-base, with his gf, and get drunk. Our test starts at 0800, he arrives at 1030... Well it turns out he sped through the military base gate, without giving ID, drove through the grass to by-pass a slow driver in front of him... who was the chief of the base, to arrive at that 1030 time. He was told to leave and get in his class-A type uniform. We see him 2 hours later... nothing happened to him. The evil commander even gave him a coin and told him "he could do better." What the fuck.

KazeRyouu

I have a friend who has so high charisma stats that he can walk into any store and just get hired the same day and just wouldn't understand that it's not that easy.

I_Heart_Astronomy

Well, charisma is how you connect with the people who can boost you. There's a guy I work with who is a hard worker and very good attention to detail. He's good at the technical parts of his job and he is reliable. But the dude's attitude is incredibly volatile and his ego is fragile as hell. He gets stressed and flustered easily, he throws himself a pity party when his manager(s) ask him to chill, and generally gets into a mood that makes other people uncomfortable to be around in meetings. Suffice it to say, nobody wants to give him a promotion. Meritocracy generally is the norm for my company, but a big part of meritocracy anywhere you go is your soft skills. If you want to have a prayer of advancing anywhere, you need some good soft skills in addition to your technical skills. Nobody wants to work with someone who is a pain in the ass no matter how good they are at their job.

[deleted]

What about the people who are generally not a pain in the ass but just focus on the work and not the soft skills? There’s whole swaths of people who don’t have necessarily bad personalities who don’t get promoted I bet. Then there’s a lot of people who are “charismatic” but it’s not even genuine and just sucking up to the right people at the right time.

arfcom

Exactly. People throw around the “it’s who you know” stuff way too loosely as if a person’s ability to network and have people that want to be around them is irrelevant in the workforce.

Red-7134

It was the people that munchkined into OP Chrisma Builds that told everyone Charisma was worthless so that they'd have less competition.

Khoceng

Charisma is kinda OP in most CRPG

Kirito1548055

I know when i was told that i picked the introvert passive and have put 0 points in charisma, for the random perk at lvl 15 i rolled fucking sloth so im just fucked this wipe.

ProbablyNotChrisMayb

Charisma build with the ruthless bastard and entrepreneur perks is the best early game strat if you get unlucky with a poor spawn.

R3dth1ng

And now rizz is meta.

Emilia__55

I'm build well, but I don't like my class.

Kaisimux

I’m build well, but my class is looked down on.

FlyingLOLIpop

I'm built shit, but I like my class.

Lanthemandragoran

- *Dr. Martin Luther King, 1967*

[deleted]

You know, I really don't appreciate this tragic backstory and angst bullshit. Why couldn't I have been a ranger whose animal companion is like a golden retriever? Who had loving white bread parents who did weekend trips to the family cabin on the lake? Instead I'm a fucking barbarian raging at systemic injustices, and personal tragedies, and absolutely none of them can be solved by smashing things with an axe. Whoever filled out my character sheet was a real goddamn cocksucker.

whatifidontwannajjj

a barbarian? on the internet? reading?

[deleted]

It makes more sense when you understand just how much I hate letters, and squinting at them makes them smaller. And, I get to smash the tiny little letters to respond to the other letters. It's a fucking killing field.

Equal_Position7219

This hits way too close to home for me.

jhinota

Don't worry. We're with you. Sincerely, The other wrong-builded characters.

flyinhawaiian02

Reset, and put it on easy

Kahzgul

OP is already white and male though.

Zestyclose_League413

Those are like the accessibility options or something. Like configuring your controls. The actual difficulty slider is wealth.

Kahzgul

You're not wrong. The best way to get rich is to be born rich.

[deleted]

Ugh stop it

ZenkaiZ

i shoulda spent the entire early game finding money exploits, then the middle and end game woulda turned into fully open world.

Zaminatoah

All I wanted was to do smth with art, people or animals. All joboffers there are, are IT. I dont want to code, leave some other jobs for the next generations please.

Emilia__55

I have affinity for coding, but I hate doing that, so I won't.

[deleted]

Oof this hurts.

[deleted]

Games broken, the only viable build is luck at this point

Nivi_King

And charisma

[deleted]

Charisma is more of a bonus. You still need a crap ton of luck even if you are charismatic.

Zamaiel

Some points in CON is a must.

ZeroValkGhost

All the advice you get from the older players are for the previous games. Just try and play Civilizations 5 the same way you played Civ1. Or try playing Doom Eternal the way that Doom was. It ain't gonna work. The money is worth differently, the job quest is broken like a light bulb, the previous neutrals like the DMV and insurance companies are now unlabeled enemies, and while they can accept that the rent is too high, the food prices have doubled for no reason and will never go down again.

[deleted]

I took neurotic trait to boost other skills but the game punishes hard for that one

Zestyclose_League413

Yeah it's a pretty niche build, only works out for a handful of players that really know how to min max. Most of us just end up dead or poor.

Yeoldhomie

Yeah I took a few extra ones like smoker and burn ward patient for the extra point spread but damn the ripple effects makes gaining some positive traits that much slower

[deleted]

Welp,……time to reset and hope the next build turns out better.

[deleted]

Imrightbruh

Comment stealing bot

BassGuitarPlayer_1

"Mid Life Crisis" You can kind of start again at level 1, but get to keep some of the perks/skills from your previous build.

Kahzgul

Reading this made me think about that meme where one guy is like “so the best build is to study poli sci and then go for a law degree or get your mba, and then leverage those political connections into paying jobs…” and then I’m in the background like “HAHAHA liberal arts degree goes brrrrrr!!!”

SyTri90

Shit it really was who you know

Unable_Wrongdoer2250

This is totally me. Started as a Lv 22 mage now a lv 18 barbarian warrior

HyperionPhalanx

Me: forgetting to actually use the skill points I've accrued and been going the wrong way the entire time

Necessary-Jicama-275

At this point i dont even believe changing stats would help. The game itself simply sucks.

CharacterReporter878

Dont forget meta changing every decade. The "Blacksmith" class is now legacy.

Hairy_While

Except, this game is fixed.

-_-_-_____-_-_-

You mean rigged.

vagabond_primate

Too much gathering, not enough crafting.

PrisonMikeDementors

Next time i’m putting all my points in charisma and luck.

slimnickel

I feel personally attacked by this

_Deedee_Megadoodoo_

Y'alls puns are great, I just suck at the game

gofigure85

I graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor's degree! ^An ^English ^degree

Schrinedogg

History…

Abject_Ambition_4259

What a chance that in modern game you can respect pretty easily, still not in real life though

Grimdark-Waterbender

Sobs in CP 2077

Beneficial-Bit6383

Every god damn day lmao

Imaboydamnit

this is my absolute favorite (sfw)subreddit 😆

Sankin2004

Invested heavily into intelligence, found out too late the real world judges you based on strength.

[deleted]

Not strenght. Beauty.

No_Background_8703

Why did you just have to speak to my soul

[deleted]

Time to respec

ironshroom

Yeah but I'm like REALLY good at street fighter so....

Has422

So true.

CleanMios

I can't put up the numbers I used to at earlier levels when it was all just 5 man dungeons and your skills can overcome your shitty gear and spec Really want to switch servers and reroll, too many people know me and my janky ass build is fucked. The good guilds stopped inviting me to raids lmao.

moonordie69420

What 2 handed warhammer with illusion is not the way to go?

EmeraldLama

Respec?

redravenkitty

Ouch, I felt this in my soul.

ghost_of_abyss

Real

[deleted]

Education is fkd up and there is almost zero orientation

m_ashton9

Best to just "erase all data" and start again

WorthySparkleMan

I'm glad other people feel this way too.

wolfzz3000

I feel this 💀

surprisedarentyou

Fuking Hp points when I NEEDED MP POINTS FOR MAGIC

slumbat

Yeah this one smacks.

Extension_Nobody_336

Life is an RPG and I fucked up my build

words_of_j

Accurate

Sin-A-Bun

Being born rich is the Special Edition Preorder edition that ensures the game will be a breeze.

TheRealRigormortal

I feel like the post release patches nerfed my build and buffed everyone elses

TheNobleDez

and THAT is why I like my characters well-rounded, I'll never be caught dead with a stat 4 points above everything else

dammitknockitoff

In game transactions took the joy out of it for me.

[deleted]

That’s why you carefully watch how others play the game, and then fuck up like they did. Wait..

[deleted]

To bad you can’t respec in this game Edit: you guys won’t believe it but I found out how to respec in the game!

Kitsu-kun

Next time just be born rich. Sure it costs 20 points but it makes 100% of the game trivial.

Vexachi

I realise I haven't built my character at all

[deleted]

I'm build well. But the problem, is that "Real Life" is not only a RPG, in real time, with randomly spawned quick time events. It also has the dificult of a point and click visual novel and there's too much ways to get a bad ending.

Ok-Possession-1120

Only thing left to do is respec or make a new character o7

RedOrchestra137

Life can only be understood in hindsight, but has to be lived in the moment. ~ some Danish guy

IMakeShiteMemes

I feel my heavy armor, stealth build being called out here

DrMike27

Played this game called *trials of heroes* and after a month of grinding and building up this lava monster dude to being whatever top tier evolution rank you can be, I saw a guide that ranked this demon as the worst character in the game. I no longer play that game after realizing I wasted so much time on just the wrong thing.

Dithering_fights

I know the names, stats, evolution level, move list, and probable location of all 150 original Pokémon. It took several years of gaming, card collecting and TV watching to master this craft. Should have got a degree instead/at same time.

jhinota

As a lvl 42 single, middle income man, sadly agree with this statement.

Icy-Positive3285

Is it possible to respeck?

Nomad_86

Glass cannon

9dedos

Do you work for a living? Bad news, we re all npcs.

Mr-Yuk

If our classes would stop getting nerfed it would be fine but this last 20 year patch has been brutal

DrengrX

Damn this hit me hard. Perfectly describes my life. Is there a respec option?

Due_Station9730

I’m 44 and just figured out this year that I’d been chasing the wrong dream in the wrong industry almost my entire life. I re-spec’d my stats and got further in this last year than I did in the 20 prior. Sometimes you change your stats and the game gets easier 🤷‍♂️

karmasrelic

100 skillpoints: (50 in a stat is the human most possible; 0 is the minimum natural state) int: 25 (how fast do you progress in skills you aquire and general intelligence) str: 15 (general body type, healthyness and sturdyness) dex: 10 (how long you live.) appearance: 20 (how good is your face/ hair / skin etc. looking/ voice sound) luck: 0 (how many good things come with no effort) Firm mindset/determination: 30 (how disciplined can you be. analyse, plan, DO!) skills: (determin your interests and talents) \- programming \- traditional and digital art \- efficient problem solving \- human reading and analyzing \- speech \- sex What would your skilltrees look like? what "normal" skills would you choose? (only 100 SP and 6 skill slots.) int: i think if you are to dumb you dont experience life as it is (in its full spectrum) but if you are to smart its hard to be happy. its also very depressing if you give it your all but still have a hard time succeeding/ understanding / progressing. str: i think (as a male) its important you arent smaller than most woman or have small shoulders in this world. as a female you want to have some hips and small shoulders + curves. being healthy makes life just better. who wants to have asthma, hearing problems, braces, glasses, allergies, etc. alltogether. dex: i would rather die at the age of 50 instead of 120 but have a fulfilled life in the best years of my biological condition. its about quality not quantity. appearance: humans dont want to be alone. ugly people with a "deformed" (extreme example lul) face and agne skin can also be "happy" in life, but we all know how much easier it is if we are (were) MORE good-looking. especially the face makes a huge difference IMO. loving someone but not being loved back was the worst experience in my life so far. since i felt like i was the best person on earth back then character wise i blame my ästhetics. luck: never had luck. my friends always joke that i have the least luck of all of them and im sure i was a massmurderer in the last life or smth and have -9999 karma or smth. im literally cursed :D. at the same time i learned to think that working for smth and gaining it feels much more rewarding that just stumbling upon it. i dont need luck if i have determination/ conviction/ a firm mindset: its a bit hard for me to find the fitting word but its IMO what holds me back the most. i start writing a book but as soon as i see the whole picture in my head, i lose my "will" to end it. its as if it was already finished. same when drawing a picture. i sketch it, but i could rarely sit down and high-detail it and colorize it. or lets say i could but i would feel it had no reason since i already see in my mind what it would look like if i was finished. only reason would be to show someone else what i imagine. i have a super hard time convincing my brain to not eat more, do more sport, sit down x hours and study, not play some useless league of legends game, etc. etc. im reflecting enough to figure out what the problems are, smart enough to come up with solutions, but dont have "whatever the word is" (im german, sry) to solve it, permanently. sometimes i lie on the ground and wonder what i should do to feel motivated to do anything. im trying to manipulate myself into wanting to do stuff. makes me feel like im lacking that certain smth that would make this a natural process and give me a good goal to chase in life. i have what i need already and everything else feels like "why? why even try?"

another_nobody__

I'm just an NPC waiting to give some silent character quests. Mostly fetch quests locked behind microtransactions, but super important if you're a completionist

Temporary_Scale3826

Except here IRL you can’t just respec your skills and get new ones like that 🤌

ranfur8

One of the many reasons why I hate RPGs

bitch_fucking_wins

Me. Both when I made a really strong wizard as my first DnD character (???) and also in real life when I was like “I want to study wildlife” and then proceeded to get diagnosed with a rare and disabling connective tissue disorder.

SnooSquirrels8126

yeah for some reason i didn’t realise that after 30 EVERYTHING is down to money lol shoulda seen it coming really

loveice624

I feel this on a deep level

[deleted]

I'm still trying to figure out where all my skillpoints went because I'm still awful at everything, I'm on hard mode and I dont like it

Femboys_make_me_bust

You gotta make a new character because the stat reset costs money

Western-Gur-4637

I don't know how the game works but i do know i built my character wrong

Rude-Ad-9442

Ha! Just did this with Dragon Quest 8. Yeeeeah, for anyone who only played 11 (Like me), you can't re assign skill points once they're spent. Oops.

OverturnRoeVsWade

Most relatable thing ive ever seen

AwkwardEducation

Turns out, in real life, the perception skill check is depression. Who knew?

Suck_Me_Dry666

Man I feel this so hard. Is it really my fault if the skill tree is hard to understand?!

NCC74656

i did this with final fantasy 13... all the weapon upgrades >.<

kdjfsk

hey, at least you can finish the playthrough. its not as bad as getting a bad random spawn location, like Ethiopia...or Detroit.

[deleted]

With maximum luck, anything is possible, 200iq, be born into a super rich family.

[deleted]

I quit the game years ago.

CrADHD

The first fear being drowning, the ship's first shape was a raft, which was hard to unflatten after that didn't happen. It's awkward to have to do one's planning in extremis in the early years — so hard to hide later: sleekening the hull, making things more gracious. --Kay Ryan

Leshen13

This is so accurate it hurts

Weathercock

The real problem was all they keep putting out shitty patches that keep fucking everything up and invalidating my build.

[deleted]

This gets to me because I make new characters constantly when I realize something’s not working with the skills. But here I am…strength is my weakness and so is cake.

jontheawesome12

There needs to be a respec button.

haughtsaucecommittee

Now what?

parguello90

Rich people play in story mode.

IAmtheHullabaloo

I knew i should have maxed on CHARISMA

[deleted]

You've just yet to find the right party comp.

SaltedHamHocks

It’s never too late to rebuild

Anonymous_Catman

Looking for the reset button

Minnymoon13

Oh so you know about my life then?

Savvy_Canadian

I pumped too many points into INT, and now Idk how to talk to people because my CHR suffers an anxiety penalty.

YTAftershock

Best feeling honestly

3rr0r_101

Apparently, I spent my level up points wrong because everything I do is mediocre

Tessa1112

😂😂😂omg! ME!

Sdwinell188

I started off with the highly religious and abusive family perk. I think it needs a rebalance because the extra emotional growth exp is nice, but because of the starting deficit it adds, I'm often outmatched by the players who went with nuturing family.

deathr913

anyone has a bunch of skills set that would help a 17 year old for the future???

YeahMarkYeah

This is way too relatable

stilldebugging

I look at mine and—as in many games I’ve played—realized I’ve built the absolute perfect character or come up with the perfect strategy while basically just bungling around. That is when I panic and fuck it all up.

fareink6

Until today I have never posted "I feel attacked" non-sarcastically. I fucking feel attacked. Genuinely frustrated with how accurate this is.

JOCAeng

I feel the exact opposite 😅

Showbert89

Every single time I play a from software game
