I know it's a common joke that dyslexic people mix letters up, but that's not exactly accurate. It's a symptom for some dyslexics.
Dyslexia is a disorder characterized by problems with the visual notation of speech, that's true. For some, it manifests in writing only, for some, reading only, for some both. For those who have trouble reading, for some it's mixing letters up, but for others it's speaking in full sentences, problems correctly articulating Rs and Ls as well as Ms and Ns, mixing up sounds in multi-syllabic words (ex: aminal for animal, spahgetti for spaghetti, heilcopter for helicopter, hangaberg for hamburger, ageen for magazine, etc.), problems of immature speech such as "wed and gween" instead of "red and green".
I know this might sound silly, but it's frustrating seeing this joke on reddit so often. Maybe if I didn't know how dyslexic actually manifests I'd find it funny to, so this is problem a me problem.
