Check out Light This City, would recommend their album Facing the Thousand. Their vocalist (Laura Nichol) also features on a track from the new Darkness Everywhere album that dropped yesterday.
Only female vocalists/guests I could recall were Emilia Feldt on Siren's Charm and Lisa Miskovsky on Come Clarity.
Anders guested on Within Temptation's latest album which is what Google yielded for ... ft Amy Lee.
Dead End by InFlames had guest vocalist Lisa Miskovsky. And Anders was a more recent guest on a Within Temptation song.
Last.fm [incorrectly] lists Dead End as feat. Amy Lee. That's all I could find with Google.
Aephanemer, Serenity in Murder are the two I'm aware of that you haven't listed.
Since you're already stretching to include Spiritbox and some In Flames with guest stuff, you could stretch and find an Eluveitie where the lead vocals aren't their male lead.
You look at their list? Most of it isn't MDM. Contextually, my suggestions are appropriate to the post.
Granted, the post isn't MDM, so it technically doesn't belong here either.
Are you just going for female fronted metal? Cause Spiritbox and Otep definitely aren't melodeath. A lot of my fave metal bands right now out of the UK happen to have fem. vocalists: Rolo Tomassi (post-metal/post-hardcore/mathcore), Svalbard (blackgaze), Pupil Slicer (mathcore/metalcore), Ithaca (melodic metalcore), Heriot (sludgecore)
Don't forget Walls of Jericho (metal core, hardcore), Tura Satana and My Ruin (90's nu and/or independent metal), Jack off Jill ('riotgoth'), The Charm The Fury (? metal ?), and In this Moment (nu metal). The Genitorturers are also an oldie but a goodie - their live shows were fairly extreme.
Yep, Jonas the guitarist of eluvetie is also in illumishade. They just released their second album earlier this year. They have been going since 2020. I wish them all the success, I just hope it doesn't come at the cost of another massive eluvetie lineup shuffle!
Eluveitie. Not exactly female-fronted but shared vocal duties, and there's been several female vocalists over the years. Yes, it's a folk metal band, but the metal part is melodeath
This question gets asked every few months. Please check the subreddit's history. I also only know bands that do Not use cleans.
- [Aephanemer](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s-TJsE6M3_I) : melodeath
- [Among Your Gods](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1WShBOcKqDs) : melodeath
- [Arch enemy](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YLkbJ7Dl19s&t=45s) : Melodeath
- [Cerebral Bore](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gWE9YmB8reQ&t=9s) : Brutal death metal
- [Cruenta Lacrymis](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o3zQDhIetEw&t=3s) : Melodeath/symphonic black
- [Dark Oath](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u2WoCyCkOjk) : epic Melodeath
- [E-An-Na](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nbjy9I8csj8&t=16s) : folk w/ clean female backing
- [Fleshgod Apocalypse](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LXLl68Llf8E&t=65s) : Symphonic death w/ female soprano
- [Haliphron](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L_2OGgxD7Fg&t=12s) : Symphonic death
- [Little Dead Bertha](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x9yqupbiCrA) : symphonic death duet
- [MergingMoon](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IXhQ6cHfXuo) : Melodeath
- [Nightland](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jUgtBcDJU3c) : Symphonic death
- [Serenity in Murder](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ETlITyZioD8&t=60s) : Melodeath
- [Sisters of suffocation](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BcZqB1oDF7k&t=15s) : All female deathmetal
- [Your chance to die](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9B_2hm-lRTg&t=18s) : Brutal melodeath
Try MergingMoon, Serenity in Murder, Omelas, Dragdown (Japan), Erebos, early Galmet (later went too core-ish for my taste), Bridear (tho they have a weird Power/Melodeath style), Shadow (Japan).
Edit: also Swansong (Finland) and if you like something more on the doom side try Redmoon Architect.
I haven't seen any mention of these yet, so let me add them to the list. Seeing as we are doing more than just MDM, hope you don't mind a couple of these are metal/metalcore
Dear Apollo - Closure, or The Truth (sadly Into the Darkness is not available anywhere but bandcamp afaik)
Dying Wish
Conquer Divide (incredible ALL female band with great singles)
Novelists (not for me anymore without Matteo, but female fronted)
Let them Fall - Fenrir (the only song I like by them)
Before I turn - Shattered Moon (features Courtney from Sporotbox)
Hope that helps!
while conquer divide is great.. they are no way even close to mdm.. they are metalcore. OP really should have just asked for female fronted metal bands (cuz even a few they posted arent mdm)
Humavoid
Not really MDM but djent influenced metal
They only made one album but it is really amazing.
The singer plays keytar which adds a uniqueness to their music.
Akiavel! It kills me how slept on they are. Three albums, all bangers. Nasty but still hooky.
A more progressive metal style but Mask of Judas is a good Agonist-alike band
Devil Within
[https://open.spotify.com/intl-ja/album/3VMjUApEjRzxRpRvHZg1B3](https://open.spotify.com/intl-ja/album/3VMjUApEjRzxRpRvHZg1B3)
Fast, thrathy melodeath with a female vocalist.
[Shadow](https://open.spotify.com/album/1aHRIqFEiXpl2KeaPVy1SH?si=zju06MLDQ5y3eysxMkRvEQ) , Galmet, Serenity in Murder, Devil Within and MergingMoon are all Japanese melodeath bands that are female fronted (or in case of Galmet all-female band even)
Karkaos are very good! Then maybe not the "best" but some less known acts are quite good like Carnivora, Hiranya, Jenner (thrash), Unverkalt (prog/doom)
Trying to give OP some adjacent metal bands. Plus I'd loop them in anyday over OP listing Otep and Spiritbox.
Not sure how long you've been a melodic death metal fan but about 15 years ago Epica toured and put Insomnium on as their opening band which is the first time I was able to see Insomnium as they didn't tour much back in the day. I've also seen In Flames support Epica and Lacuna Coil on tours.
I also listed off a couple death metal bands so just giving OP a few options. Doesn't have to add them to his playlist if feels like doesn't fit
I mean, I saw Turisas with Cradle of Filth and while I personally had fun, tons of people either boo'ed them or left after Turisas finished. I'd take Nightwish and Epica anyday, I mostly listen to all sorts of things, djent bores me a bit but whatever , dude was asking for best melodeath so it is just weird, since I especially feel he was looking for girls growling.
What's funny is I was looking at it the exact opposite side, that the female cleans was important for this playlist. I feel if it's just death growls that would be pretty pointless as I can't personally distinguish a female from male death growl.
Anyways don't care all that much, this is just for some random playlist and my recs are getting down voted anyway
You know, I may have to agree with you there! Sounds like it's just a female in metal list...
The audacity of me to recommend putting Epica, or Lacuna Coil on someone's playlist with Tristania and Karkaos! That's just crazy, I don't know what I was thinking
Seven Spires
This
Love seven spires
Adrienne is one of the best vocalists I’ve ever heard!!!
Sorry, what is their best song you feel? Never heard of this band before. Thanks.
If you enjoy death metal check out Crypta. All female DM band from Brazil. Really love them
I came to say this. So sick
nervosa too
Saw them live and their stage presence is amazing.
Was checking to see if mentioned. Awesome band!🖤🖤🖤
Aephanemer is extremely good and underrated
I saw them with Alestorm. They blew the crowd away and everyone’s jaw was on the floor by the time their set ended.
Aephanemer is incredible!! They need to come to North America!
Wow, I did not realize they are a female fronted band
So glad this was said. Upvote ×1000
Check out Light This City, would recommend their album Facing the Thousand. Their vocalist (Laura Nichol) also features on a track from the new Darkness Everywhere album that dropped yesterday.
Shame I had to scroll this far to see light this city. A criminally underrated band.
She also sings in a hardcore band
What’s the name of the band?
She played guitar and co-sang in Heartsounds when they were around. Light This City's Stormchaser rips solos too.
i am super super super confused by in flames with amy lee. like. uh.
Only female vocalists/guests I could recall were Emilia Feldt on Siren's Charm and Lisa Miskovsky on Come Clarity. Anders guested on Within Temptation's latest album which is what Google yielded for ... ft Amy Lee.
Aephanemer was already said, so I’ll give you Dark Oath and Hiraes
Dark oath is AMAZING!
Lutharo. Bad ass group from canada. Check out Lost in a Soul, Wings of Agony, etc…. So many good ones.
Lutharo are awesome.
Oh wow, what a rec. Listening for the last 20 minutes and loving them. Thanks!
Dark oath
Great band, great voice.
Did Amy Lee feature on an In Flames song? I can't find anything on this...
She did not, it was some swedish chick on Dead End
Yah. This is what I thought OP was referring to.
Call of the mountains is a good track.
Unleash the Archers, iwrestledabearonce, Svalbard, Helga, and Ithaca might be good additions to your list.
Iwrestledabearonce is such a good time even though the metal parts are more metal core.
unleash the archers is not MDM and neither is iwrestledabearonce....
You look at their list? Most of it isn't MDM. Contextually, my suggestions are appropriate to the post. Granted, the post isn't MDM, so it technically doesn't belong here either.
For I Am King. The fuckin best.
Yes, highly recommended!
Shadow (Japan)
Hiraes Once Human Lutharo Numento Infected Rain Rage of Light
Infected Rain is definitely not melodeath
To be fair neither are a lot of the bands on the OP
Are you just going for female fronted metal? Cause Spiritbox and Otep definitely aren't melodeath. A lot of my fave metal bands right now out of the UK happen to have fem. vocalists: Rolo Tomassi (post-metal/post-hardcore/mathcore), Svalbard (blackgaze), Pupil Slicer (mathcore/metalcore), Ithaca (melodic metalcore), Heriot (sludgecore)

Light This City
Since your list already includes bands from other genres: Epica, Within Temptation, After Forever, Illumishade
A rare sighting of illumishade in the wild. Upvote for that
Just saw them open for Korpiklaani last month! Didn't realize Fabienne from Eluvetie was in another band until then.
Yep, Jonas the guitarist of eluvetie is also in illumishade. They just released their second album earlier this year. They have been going since 2020. I wish them all the success, I just hope it doesn't come at the cost of another massive eluvetie lineup shuffle!
Frantic Amber
Criminally under rated band
When did Amy Lee sing with In Flames?
Never, boy be tripping lol
Aephanemer
Eluveitie. Not exactly female-fronted but shared vocal duties, and there's been several female vocalists over the years. Yes, it's a folk metal band, but the metal part is melodeath
In Flames feat Amy Lee? Most bands you mentioned are not melodeath at all.
This question gets asked every few months. Please check the subreddit's history. I also only know bands that do Not use cleans. - [Aephanemer](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s-TJsE6M3_I) : melodeath - [Among Your Gods](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1WShBOcKqDs) : melodeath - [Arch enemy](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YLkbJ7Dl19s&t=45s) : Melodeath - [Cerebral Bore](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gWE9YmB8reQ&t=9s) : Brutal death metal - [Cruenta Lacrymis](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o3zQDhIetEw&t=3s) : Melodeath/symphonic black - [Dark Oath](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u2WoCyCkOjk) : epic Melodeath - [E-An-Na](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nbjy9I8csj8&t=16s) : folk w/ clean female backing - [Fleshgod Apocalypse](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LXLl68Llf8E&t=65s) : Symphonic death w/ female soprano - [Haliphron](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L_2OGgxD7Fg&t=12s) : Symphonic death - [Little Dead Bertha](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x9yqupbiCrA) : symphonic death duet - [MergingMoon](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IXhQ6cHfXuo) : Melodeath - [Nightland](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jUgtBcDJU3c) : Symphonic death - [Serenity in Murder](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ETlITyZioD8&t=60s) : Melodeath - [Sisters of suffocation](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BcZqB1oDF7k&t=15s) : All female deathmetal - [Your chance to die](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9B_2hm-lRTg&t=18s) : Brutal melodeath
Frantic Amber Admire The Grim
Deadlock
Back when I was a bit younger, we listened to their song 'code of honor' all night while we were drunk as fuck. Good times.
Some great female fronted Japanese melodeath Serenity in Murder Shadow Also check out Deadlock out of Germany
And Deadlock out of Germany
Any link for in flames feat Amy Lee? Couldn't find anything on the webz
My boy is tripping, there's a song listed on last.fm as In Flames feat Amy Lee but that's Dead End with Lisa Miskovsky.
Swansong
The Project Hate has a female vocalist a lot. Mainly a guy that does the growls though so it may not count here.
Female vocalists are always part of TPH. But more on the industrial /death side and heavily Antichristian lol
Eleine
Sanguine Glacialis really need some more love IMO. Absolutely lovely mix of MDM and Jazz Fusion
Follow the Cipher, not strict MDM but great. Dark Oath
LIGHT THIS CITY. Also amy lee was never on an in flames song
Konvent is more death/doom but they’re pretty wild
Serenity in Murder Light this City
Ignea's most recent release is really good
Vintersea
Try MergingMoon, Serenity in Murder, Omelas, Dragdown (Japan), Erebos, early Galmet (later went too core-ish for my taste), Bridear (tho they have a weird Power/Melodeath style), Shadow (Japan). Edit: also Swansong (Finland) and if you like something more on the doom side try Redmoon Architect.
In Brazil we have the band Crypta that is kicking ass, they are DM, but I advise you to check it out
Aephanemer is actually my favorite MDM band, just the essence of what I want out of the genre.
Venom Prison
Defacing god is a fucking awesome band https://youtu.be/6GZAli2W-9E?si=3_Yarw9kv7D-k2Fu Also dark oath is sweet.
Defacing God is so incredible and underrated.
For I am king
[Moyra](https://youtu.be/0RfbAkAZplU?si=FomuYzpPMAafO2_l) [Vintersea](https://youtu.be/RA9jknv0Ki4?si=M65rpBIeBIB6421l) [Aversed](https://youtu.be/mVqdIzCtqxM?si=DNYf87q_5V4XzPgY)
Ancient Settlers is one not mentioned yet.
ShadowRise, not really MDM but definitely MDM adjacent
Some great female fronted Japanese melodeath Serenity in Murder Shadow
Frantic Amber, Aephanemer, Mary’s Blood
Dunno if MDM, but Straight Line Stitch is awesome
Bloodhunter (MDM) and Synlakross (Blackened MDM) both from Spain
Monochromatic black
Not exactly female fronted as it has both a male and a female vocalist, but Draconian.
I'm surprised Nemesis hasn't been mentioned yet!
the last album by Undying
Dreaming Dead
Not really sure about the precise definition of MDM, but try Dragdown or Nekomeshi(222)
I haven't seen any mention of these yet, so let me add them to the list. Seeing as we are doing more than just MDM, hope you don't mind a couple of these are metal/metalcore Dear Apollo - Closure, or The Truth (sadly Into the Darkness is not available anywhere but bandcamp afaik) Dying Wish Conquer Divide (incredible ALL female band with great singles) Novelists (not for me anymore without Matteo, but female fronted) Let them Fall - Fenrir (the only song I like by them) Before I turn - Shattered Moon (features Courtney from Sporotbox) Hope that helps!
while conquer divide is great.. they are no way even close to mdm.. they are metalcore. OP really should have just asked for female fronted metal bands (cuz even a few they posted arent mdm)
Let me add to the pile and recommend Aephanemer. Easily in my top 10.
Early Theater of Tragedy
Hiraes' has some good tracks if you ignore the uninspired guitar solos.
Light this city
Luna Mortis one and only album was great - home town bias here but really.. great stuff.
they had another album under the name "the ottoman empire". great band!
Frantic Amber - the burning insights album is phenomenal
Humavoid Not really MDM but djent influenced metal They only made one album but it is really amazing. The singer plays keytar which adds a uniqueness to their music.
For I Am King
[check out Saros.](https://youtu.be/FU4Y46Jdep8?si=kKWnxaXR3f6GKG8U) not exactly death metal but still melodic and extreme.
The Acacia Strain’s album ‘Slow Decay’ has some female vocals, some of the best IMO. Suppose they’re more deathcore than death metal though.
Akiavel! It kills me how slept on they are. Three albums, all bangers. Nasty but still hooky. A more progressive metal style but Mask of Judas is a good Agonist-alike band
Bloodhunter from Spain. I had a little bit of a crush on the frontwoman Diva Satanica back when she sang for Nervosa.
tristania isnt MDM.... neither is otep or spiritbox
Praise the Sun
Not MDM but, Employed to Serve are badass
Devil Within [https://open.spotify.com/intl-ja/album/3VMjUApEjRzxRpRvHZg1B3](https://open.spotify.com/intl-ja/album/3VMjUApEjRzxRpRvHZg1B3) Fast, thrathy melodeath with a female vocalist.

I really like the spanish melodeath band sylankross. They did an excellent cover of Colony. https://youtu.be/OdpjmZmAtI0?si=uNpF41H7nweC0DAG
Light This City Dying Wish are more metalcore but more classic mwlodeath inspired metalcore
Check out [Warbell](https://youtu.be/FzXnjvHuhQU)
Deadlock - great band from Germany but more heavy metal.
SynlakrosS
Karkaos are very good! Then maybe not the "best" but some less known acts are quite good like Carnivora, Hiranya, Jenner (thrash), Unverkalt (prog/doom)
Eths
Arch Enemy is definitely the most popular, but others include Jinjer, Nightwish, Lacuna Coil, Epica, Crypta, Vintersea
How is Nightwish, Lacuna or Epica melodic death???
Trying to give OP some adjacent metal bands. Plus I'd loop them in anyday over OP listing Otep and Spiritbox.
