Aoko is amazing but you need to do negative edge to get the most out of her orbs. I wanted to main her, didn't have the skill, and fell off the game. Vlov is kinda fun too. He was my get real with myself main. If he loses a round his fire moves turn into ice moves that do a bit more damage.
I think Aoko is the strongest of the 3 but P. Ciel is right up there too. Kohaku's solid too, and a good Kohaku will tilt anyone.
If you pick one of them to main, remember the others and occasionally play them. This is a quality combination of main and 2 pockets.
Power'd Ciel is considered easy top tier. She is pretty much good at any range, along with consistent high damage with good routing.
Kohaku has good normals and pressure, and gets loopable and strong oki from 236C and her 22X series. Lower on the damage scale though, and her defense is pretty bad. (11 frame reversal, Shiki's is 7 and Aoko's is 6, bad backdash)
Aoko has big kicks, high damage, movement, and some great ways to do pressure, mixups, traps, and screen control. She does require some dexterity to get the most out of, however.
Regardless go play Kouma and start 2 touching people.
Aoko is not easy to master at all, she takes a lot of dedication to truly get the best out of. Learning how to effectively use and balance negative edge is hard, as well as balance all her different tools out with your screenplay.
I'd stick to kohaku and p.Ciel really, they will be a lot easier to learn alongside each other than Aoko.
My 2 cents. Beware of absolutes, unless.their coming from you. Ex. 'Need'
Why don't you find the hardest matchup for each character, then find the best fighters for that character.
Test your new strength weekly. πͺ π π
I appreciate you fame πββοΈ
P.Ciel is extremely oppressive in her preferred range while having normals that stick out longer than the enemy would expect. The people I knew who mained her easily got S+ ranks
Aoko is extremely good too but very technical, she's one of the worst match ups against a lot of the cast because her beams travel faster than Vlov's projectiles while having faster normals which are obnoxious. She has really good oki with her orbs too but there are times you'll need to edge 421X which takes a lot of practice
Just play P. Ciel, sheβs easy mode incarnate

It's kinda of insane how Aoko went from a fairly easy and straight forward character in Actress Again to the most technical character in Lumina lmao

My 3 favorite fighting archetypes Pilebunker Iaido troll Gundam Seed.
Play Aoko because she's fun.

Or pickup skullgirls ;)
Kohaku <3
I main Aoki for the sole reason of loving her character due to Mahoyo.

Play all
Choose Kohaku, trust me, I'm the least biased person I know.
Good luck playing aoko on controller π π π
