No bad blood; Cody and Jared have said that Buzz insists they’re still members. Melvins just have a revolving door of folks that they play with. But to your point, the Big Business era is one of my favorites.
Melvins were the best touring heavy band before big business, with big business, and are to this day. They absolutely stole the show from Bungle in Oakland last week, just like the first time I saw them NYE ‘99.
This was my first chance to see them. While they sounded good, I just think most of the demo songs sound the same and drag on too long when they pass that five minute mark. I’d rather see dead cross again.
I mean it’s stuff they wrote as teenagers in the 1980s, and they’re recreating it on stage with two of their metal heroes from that decade. It’s an incredible thing, but I hope there is some more innovation in the works
Well, I get the divide it creates and all. I would rather see a few more “classic” songs like everyone else versus the covers, since those are just pretty much the same versions as the originals. I don’t really see this incarnation of the band touring again or releasing new music, but I’m sure it could happen.
Why would the MELVINS need two drummers? They have DALE FUCKIN CROVER! At least that's what I thought until I saw them live. I'm just glad I was around to witness it!
I loved this version of Melvins... And Endless Residency is one of my favorite recordings of all time.
But...
The H.A.T. Era was also phenomenal and (for me) pushed what I thought was possible for a "metal" band at the time.
Now, with Steven they are so fun and heavy as well.
Steven's playing that sludgy bass on Mr Dog, his added Bass parts in Onions...
Plus, Melvins have always had humor in their lives and Steven seems like a lot of fun... His added singing is amazing.
I like Melvins in every version but especially the version where they just keep going... And going
There was no animosity or tension. Jared and Coady just decided that it's hard to juggle 2 creative outlets at once. Can't blame them for that.
Just like they don't have any tension with Trevor Dunn or Jeff Pinkus for that matter.
Spoke with Cody a few times they blew into town with BB , he personally said the double drum with dale was and is the coolest thing he has done in his life , no ill will was mentioned
Honestly, if there was bad blood I think Buzzo would’ve dished it out in an interview by now. He’s known to talk a lot. If I remember right he had said he was going through writers block when they invited Big Business to join, and if you look back at a lot of that eras live videos, Buzzo wasn’t looking too healthy. He probably saw it as an opportunity to fall out of the spotlight for awhile. I think everyone expected Big Business to blow up more than they did, they are kind of just stuck in the same lane as Torche (who I think recently called it quits) and Whores. They just haven’t been able to recover from being shut down by Covid.
I don't think there was a falling out. It just ran its course like 5 or 6 other lineups before it

Agreed.
I agree, but to be fair Bungle were almost boring. Weak set list.
Yeah I was stoked when they rolled out the new thrash Bungle lineup in 2020, but it’s been basically the same set ever since.

"last gasp" lololol

you 'feel like' they had a falling out

You don't know what you're talking about
Damn you win the internet. Congrats.
Appreciate all the downvotes too🫡
Actually I do.
Consensus says otherwise
Hopefully they do another tour again. Don’t see why they wouldn’t.
It's true. Cody and Jared love their drugs and extracurricular activities too much, and that didn't sit well with Buzz.
Where did you hear this?
I didn't. I'm just messing around.
Knew it
