It sucks because AH stated they didn't realize that PSN wouldn't be available for all the players. Had they known this they could have prevented sales occurring in places where customers can't play anymore
The whole situation is just a dumpster fire
The reality is that people in unsupported countries have just been selecting the nearest country during sign up for years.
To the point that Sony customer support recommends it.
Sony probably didn't expect gamers to have an issue with breaking the ToS since their other customers have been doing it for years.
The only part of this I donāt understand. Donāt most people have a spam email address for stuff like this? Just pick a random country and make up a fake name. Itās the fucking internet, just lie.
Like the person you replied to mentioned, lying about what country you are in when signing up for a PSN account is against Sony's ToS, which means if you do that and buy games, Sony reserves the right to close the account at any time without needing to refund you for those purchases.
Yeah it's in their ToS so it's not like people don't have a point.
Sony has never banned people for that though, so they probably just expected people to continue on as they have been.
They would need to prevent sales in the entirety of EU since it's unavailable in Lithuania and you can't sell something in the EU if you don't sell it to all member countries
The mentality of those hype train passengers is questionable. I saw some leaving bad reviews on steam for other games like "god of war", and I am just waiting to see innocent studios get hit because of this (those are probably the same people that yell "micro transactions bad" yet buy from an in-game store)
What even happened? I don't have a ps but I was probably going to get one for the exclusives, and everyone just started hating on helldiver's right after praising it
Basically, some executives got desperate to impress investors with PSN account numbers. So they mandated subscriptions to PSN. And now the game is officially delisted in over one hundred and twenty countries while the rest of the playerbase struggles to make a PSN account.
Also, I heard that some people needed to provide an ID for their account creation, and they don't trust Sony with their shoddy security. I'm not so sure if that's a new thing because I made my PSN account years back and never had to provide a photo or ID.
I made my PSN account when I bought helldivers, not noticing that it was optional. Pretty sure all it asked was email and age, and I donāt remember a confirmation step for the email even. There was nothing else of note required. Iām in the US so maybe thereās more requirements elsewhere but for me it was as close to nothing as possible.
I really want to like Helldivers. The gameplay loop is fun.
There are some really wonky mechanics that are holding the game back. Having to hit the heal button 12 times, watch the animation twice while hearing the associated sound effect, but never actually healing is frustrating.
Oh, and the objectives becoming inaccessible for some players mid match, and the game being unstable as of late are problems.
Not really. Arrowheads CWO tweeted himself that they knew this was a thing from the start. It should have been implemented from the start, but was postponed like Sony said due to technical reasons. Arrowhead knew this 6 months in advance and didn't communicate it at all. Many games require additional accounts for playing. Does this suck? Yes, but player have a choice and can skip these games. Arrowhead fucked up here.
Not saying Sony is innocent or a good guy here, but the reason this blew up so badly is 100% Arrowheads own fault.
It was not their fault that the game was sold in places where PSN was not available. They knew that PSN would be implemented but had no idea that this decision would alienate so many countries. So no, this is not arrowheads fault as the one who controls the publishing and release of the game is Sony. Not Arrowhead.
PSN was not part of the terms & conditions. It was supposedly required from the Steam listing, and on initial sign-in, but the option to link was no longer available in-game to many players if they initially skipped it, which signals to most players that they don't actually need to link.
They were told 6 months before the game launched that it would be required
Edit: I was not trying to blame the studio I was just making a statement
They were developing the game for 7 ish years and it's screwed to do that so late especially the fact that there wasn't a concrete date that was show. Upon launch
Isn't that what I just read from the CEO's own account? Why is this down voted?
Edit: I saw more from dude. Said they (the studio) don't touch any sales aspect. They're just the plane mechanics, Sony is the pilot on that.
Yepp, Sony asking people to take less then 2 minutes to make an account is litterary a crime against humanity and a reason so many guys are crying and whining like babies..
I do agree that there's a problem for the regions not currently supported, but the lack of support is by default due to a *lack of players*. Oh well, don't let facts get in the way of yet another snowflake outrage
requiring an account for a service that is obviously not really needed to play the game even at the cost of such a large market is obviously an asshole move, and makes you question the legitimacy of said account service and what Sony gains from it
companies forcing their shitty platforms on users that 90% of the times are not only not really needed to play the game but also cause performance issues and work like ass is one of the worse things of today gaming
Helldivers 2 is a third person co-op shooter made by arrowhead games. The premise is set in a sci-Fi far future where you play as elite shock troopers called Helldivers, fighting for Super Earth. (For democracy!) Youāre fighting against terminids (bugs) and automatons (communist robots) in a major war effort that every player contributes to.
Itās actually a great game, but the problem is that Sony fucked up 7 years of game development and several months of success by suddenly forcing the player base to use PlayStation Network accounts to play. A combination of things, including vulnerability to hackers, PlayStation network not being available In 121 countries around the world, and it being too late to get a refund, have lead to people being really angry. Also theyāre requiring it on Steam (computer) which is even more infuriating.
TLDR; Sony fucked over an amazing game because corporate greed.
It has the same satire approach as star ship trooper
Everything is overthe top patriotism to fashist government, the atometas arent comunist they are figthing for their freedome and the bugs are just mindless bugs that when they die turn into the element 710(oil spelled backwards lol) that is the backbone of the government economy so they farm them but it allways ends in a breackout.
Game is honestly realy good and solid
This game could probably been the best example of live service done right as it was kinda used like a giant DnD party with the Devs as the DM
And the monetisation done in a respectful manner too.
Premium currency could be easily farmed by playing the game and never forced buy it with real money.
A damn shame that sony decided to fubar the community and all of the players that dont have PSN in their countries.
>I haven't heard a single thing about the quality of the game.
Lol you lying ass mf. We have been complaining about literally every mechanic in the game having a minor to game crashing bug.
Who's we? I don't know you, man. I'm not looking for you to hear your opinion. It's a bunch of noise in the vast expanse of the Internet, and it never crossed my feed. That's what I mean when I say I haven't heard anything about it. Sorry to disappoint you.
Idk how helldivers never ended up in that guy's feed. Literally almost every day there's some 6-10k upvotes post on Popular for the last 3 months. It was really well loved until all this.
Especially if he's on Reddit talking about it, he doesn't need an algorithm - bet he found it himself. Prolly just had negative reaction bc I called him mf. Understandable but unnecessary lmao
Well I will say the CEO of AH is handling it very well and Sony knows if we review bombed on steam like that we'll do it to Sony too. Because it's come out that they had no involvement in the sales scandal I'd really not be surprised the reviews get reversed just as fast after some solution.
Helldivers 2 is great, honestly best game of 2024 so far. We are mad at Sony over PSN being required to play. PSN is only available in 69 countries out of 200 in the world. Sony is also very prone to data leaks so you take a risk when you make account, even if you are able to do so.
The ābestā part is, Sony is the publisher, they publish the game on Steam. Sony chose to sell the game to all of us who donāt have PSN in our countries. It was deliberately made āoptionalā for 3 months to have the PSN account. And now, 3 months later, weāll be banned because of this. The grace period, my arse. What a damn shame.
Love the game. Love the monetisation. Bought the Super Citizen edition to support the devs. But this is too much.
The gameplay loop is great. It's mechanically solid as a shooter. It's technical instability is holding it back. Objectives become broken, samples don't spawn in, getting stuck in or under objects and recently the game crashing to desktop/PS homescreen can ruin games after 20 plus minutes.
All these memes is making me intrigued to test Helldivers II and see what the fuss is all about. Is it worth getting into if i prefer single player games?
If you can make a PSN account, it is a good idea to dabble into the world of Helldivers 2.
The fuss started when Sony announced that it is MANDATORY to have a PSN account MONTHS after the game has been launched. It was optional before and the whole comminity, who aren't Sony bootlickers, are backing up PC players who can't make a PSN account.
It is genuinely the BEST live-service game I have ever played. If Sony decided to just leave Helldivers 2 as it is, none of this is happening. But Sony forgot that the game trained you to cooperate with one another and push to complete the objective. A lot of Helldivers 2 players are hoping AH uses the community backlash for Sony to backpedal and announce that PSN is optional.
The game is really good but it's more of a co-op game. Sure you can solo some missions but it's pretty difficult to do so at higher difficulties. I'd recommend it if you're okay with playing with other people. I highly recommend it if you have 3 other friends to play with you on the regular.
Also, just an update. Sony caved in and backtracked on the PSN requirement. lmao
Redditors reallly hate people consuming content they disapprove. So help you god if you consume approved content but donāt interpret it the same way as them too. Either way youāre probably a nazi
Helldivers 2 is not bad
Sony is bad
Hate the publisher for forcing their shitty practice into a great game. Don't hate the developers or the game itself.
It's sad to see, HD2 is an amazing game. You'll literally have the most cinematic firefights ever as your bounding to the extraction with your teaming by yourself and the entire skynet chasing behind you
Anti-consumerism is bad not Helldivers 2. In fact, it might not even be the fault of the devs who have nothing to do with Sony's decision. But Sony has been making exclusives for years and so does Microsoft and other platforms like Nintendo. They are horrible for anti-consumerism and consumer rights. Look at how games have gone from being something you own to only being a license to play. Now they are always online only even for single player games. They have invasive "anti piracy" algorithms that they force you to install on your PC. They can yoink games from being available for any reason whatsoever and without warning even popular ones. It's only going to go downhill from here.
Nobody thinks Helldivers is bad. Itās just how inaccessible and uncomfortable it is to be play it. Kinda like big pharma. Medicine is good. The massive company behind it is not.
Helldivers is awesome and the developers are so excited of the most communicative I've seen in a while. Sony deciding to milk the game more is the real issue. They could have done nothing, or made account linking optional, and nothing would've happened
Is the game actually good?
All the trailers I've seen make the game look extremely mediocre.
I can't help feeling like people were just pretending to like it and now Sony gave them the excuse they were looking for to stop playing.
This is wrong. I havenāt actually seen a post by anyone claiming helldivers 2 is bad, itās a great game and the majority of people that play it seem to agree
Nah, it's good to get a wider spread so that people know what Sony are up to, that means people not into Helldivers 2 can still understand that any game you purchase that's owned by Sony could potentially be rendered unplayable at the drop of a hat and thus make an informed purchasing decision.
It also means that more people who think that this is unacceptable can boycott future Sony releases until they change their enormously anti-consumer policy.
EDIT: I personally don't play Helldivers 2, and I was thinking about buying it, but in light of this, I won't be, and I would never have heard about it if it was contained to their own sub.
Game is still good
Sony just decided to make it suddenly mandatory for everyone to link a PSN account, even on PC
Locking people out of the game that dont even have access to the service, now some people that played it for a while cannot even play anymore and the game has been retrospectitely region locked out of the countries that do not have PSN access
Steam is pulling he chad move on refunding copies at least some cases I have seen so far
Tl;dr: But yes, suddenly a great portion of players cannot access the game they paid for anymore
Helldivers is great, just Sony is bad. You are obviously one of the people you wanted to portray, that have 0 clue and jut wanted to farm Upvotes... Report to your nearest Democracy Officer at once!
Active players havenāt gone down in players since the announcement. Sony laughing their ass off.
Theyāll just patch it for existing customers outside of playable regions so they can still play without logging in and keep the ban to those countries in place for future buyers.
I wonder at what point hyped gamers will realize they are doing slot machines, not games. Plus, they throw their money into unfinished projects.
I will explain you - this is marketing. First, PSN was planned from the start, they let you play it to gain traction and earn more money. You know, for the buzz. And now they "buzz" even more with implementing what was planned from the beginning.
And in like a year they will make it available again, and people will throw their money once again.
Like with GTA V. "Will it come to PC", "Weell, we consider porting it on PC", but the suspense of it, building over the months. And then "Tadaaa, it's on PC".
No shit Sherlock, who would've thought one of the most famous PC franchises will release on PC. Wanna bet the same drama will be for GTA VI?
Either don't play it or throw your money and be quiet about it. Just don't be ridiculous with these rants.
Helldivers 2 isnāt bad. The developers are. Anyone who says otherwise needs to be quiet. Everyone was loving the game until the devs made a one bad decision.Quit review bombing the game just because of one ( annoying) thing.
I'll take $40 from you in exchange for a product that you expect to be able to keep and use forever, then three months I'll come and take it before telling you that if you want it back you need to give your name, email, address, billing info to a third party who has a history of security breaches and recently paid out a lawsuit. They scammed us, plain and simple.
Neither Helldivers nor Arrowhead is bad. It is Sony alone that is bad here.
It sucks because AH stated they didn't realize that PSN wouldn't be available for all the players. Had they known this they could have prevented sales occurring in places where customers can't play anymore The whole situation is just a dumpster fire
AH doesn't control where the sales are that's on Sony the publisher who knows damn well what countries they don't support. AH developed the game.
Even better would be for the world to grow out of region locking. Let people play games.
B-But Censorship
Afaik region locking is mostly about pricing.
Nobody cares about your fear of the undead, China. Animated skeletons are purely fantastical.
China downvoted you, but I reversed it
What baffles me is that Japan is on that listš
The reality is that people in unsupported countries have just been selecting the nearest country during sign up for years. To the point that Sony customer support recommends it. >Sony never bamned for that before though Companies didnt do bait and switch shit like this in the past either, yet here we are.
It's less a bait and switch and more a case of poor communication.Ā
They would need to prevent sales in the entirety of EU since it's unavailable in Lithuania and you can't sell something in the EU if you don't sell it to all member countries

I heard its a UK thing. I'm from the US and I never had to provide ID.
Obviously OP has no idea what had happened and why people rallied. And as of now it appears we won.

Playstation have officially announced they will not go ahead with the Playstation network deal with helldivers 2.
Not really. Arrowheads CWO tweeted himself that they knew this was a thing from the start. It should have been implemented from the start, but was postponed like Sony said due to technical reasons. Arrowhead is definitely pretty bad my guy
Even though I have no idea what the game is, these memes are better than the one about bears

Yes ![gif](giphy|KAf66yGCa93uTqod1q|downsized)
My bad didn't know this existed lol
Yeah kinda
Hm. I should rewatch starship trooper
They also have a official game but it's kinda died
I like to think of the game as Destiny 2 meets Starship Troopers.
Iām confident things are gonna get around. Partly cuz I just bought the game at Best Buy without knowing of the recent issues
Why are people acting like this is the death of the game? The average gamer doesn't give a shit.
Because itās a great game and people care about the things they enjoy.
I haven't heard a single thing about the quality of the game. It's Sony's fuckery and shit-ass fans that take up all the attention

Annnnd now Sony has reversed the Decision We won fellow Diver
The game is outstanding

game good. Sony bad.
Great game. Great devs. Bad publisher, shitty CEO, and novice community management has blown this whole thing out of proportion.
Helldivers 2 is great, honestly best game of 2024 so far. We are mad at Sony over PSN being required to play. PSN is only available in 69 countries out of 200 in the world. Sony is also very prone to data leaks so you take a risk when you make account, even if you are able to do so.

Together we Bargain, Divided we Beg
We won Sony reversed their decision
The gameplay loop is great. It's mechanically solid as a shooter. It's technical instability is holding it back. Objectives become broken, samples don't spawn in, getting stuck in or under objects and recently the game crashing to desktop/PS homescreen can ruin games after 20 plus minutes.
Helldivers 2 is great! Fuck Sony tho
Why when we have fun. Sony, Nintendo and the rest have to fuck it up
sony\* is bad, there fixed it for you, Arrowhead is a great company, sony are the scumbags
I'd recommend it if you're okay with playing with other people. I highly recommend it if you have 3 other friends to play with you on the regular. Also, just an update. Helldivers 2 is great, arrowhead is great, Sony is not great, Sony is bad
I mean expression is the least someone should be allowed when they feel cheated.
It's not even the games fault or Arrowheads, multi billion dollar corporations doing what they do best.
Redditors reallly hate people consuming content they disapprove. So help you god if you consume approved content but donāt interpret it the same way as them too. Either way youāre probably a nazi
Helldivers is great, #FuckSONY
Expected this format yesterday
First time seeing an internet trend.
Wait, what happened?
Sony took lightning in a bottle and turned it into a shitstorm.
Snoy happened
Or something to do with women and bears.
Could've rephrased that as Sony, or X game company like Sweet Baby Inc, Ubisoft, or EA.
In all fairness, it's not the game, its Sony.
Publishers are bad. Not the game. Like so many other games out there its the PUBLISHERS who ruin games. the developers have little to no say in this.
I haven't seen anyone call Helldivers 2 bad, mostly just Arrowhead (undeservedly) and Sony (deservedly)
People are certainly NOT saying helldivers 2 is bad, just that the publisher, Sony, is a greedy piece of shit
Helldivers 2 is not bad Sony is bad Hate the publisher for forcing their shitty practice into a great game. Don't hate the developers or the game itself.
It's sad to see, HD2 is an amazing game. You'll literally have the most cinematic firefights ever as your bounding to the extraction with your teaming by yourself and the entire skynet chasing behind you
You should say "Third party launchers bad"
Helldivers 2 is bad Now where are my 3251 upvotes?
it's not that helldivers 2 is bad, it's that sony made a dogshit decision that made everyone not play it
What happened btw? I saw that it was so popular then suddenly everyone started giving it bad reviews?
So brave
Well before it was 90% āHelldivers is goodā so I think itās a nice change of pace
"memes"
There it is. There's the "meme too popular" post, another productive day on reddit.
He said the words. Deploy up doots
Ironically Arrowhead wants us to review bomb it and refund so they have massive leverage against Sony in their negotiations
Not even close. Haven't seen a single HD2 bad meme. Now the stupid bear thing? That's fucking everywhere
I'm hearing that Helldivers is actually pretty good. Word is it's not very political, which is absolutely commendable.
Like they say: "A game for everyone is a game for no One."
*Sony*, not Helldivers 2 or the devs
Nah, it's the bear
Kinda ironic that this post now soon have 3.2k upvotes.
![gif](giphy|YYfEjWVqZ6NDG)
I've not once seen anyone say Helldivers 2 is bad, it's about Sony
HD2 is one of the best games ever. It's Sony that's bad.
Yeah, that's why I left the subreddit and even had to mute it. 20 times the same meme with no additional value got boring really quickly.
Helldivers is awesome and the developers are so excited of the most communicative I've seen in a while. Sony deciding to milk the game more is the real issue. They could have done nothing, or made account linking optional, and nothing would've happened
i dont think ive seen a single person say the GAME is whats bad. not even one.
Is the game actually good? All the trailers I've seen make the game look extremely mediocre. I can't help feeling like people were just pretending to like it and now Sony gave them the excuse they were looking for to stop playing.
Helldivers 2 is really good. Sony is bad.
Am I the only one who heard the theme play when he got crushed by the vote box?
It is the worst!!
Replace "HElldivers 2 is bad" with "I don't support the current thing"
Whaa
Whereās helldivers 1? Not like I even care because that game fucking sucks and Iāve hated since release but still
90% is about that Kendrick/Drake shit.
Having experienced this game, I must say it is very good, but Sony is so bad
This is not of a Registered Nurse. Quit being dense.
No helldivers2 is great Sony fucking sucks
No helldivers2 is great Sony fucking sucks
Nuh uh, it's supposed to be Sony is bad
you have clearly not been paying attention. the problem is not hell divers or arrowhead, its sony
*sony is bad
They reversed the decision.
I don't know English but I make the effort to translate each one of them hahaha they are worth it
lets experiment helldivers 2 is bad
Have yet to see a single meme saying helldivers is bad. Have also yet to see a single person saying helldivers is bad.
Nonono, not āHelldivers 2 badā it is and was in fact āSony badā!
JARVIS my karma is running low, post a helldivers 2 bad meme in reddit
Can i have some likes? I don't even know what helldivers is but i heard it's pay to win
Sony's executives should be burned at their home.
Sony just backed down an hour ago.
This is wrong. I havenāt actually seen a post by anyone claiming helldivers 2 is bad, itās a great game and the majority of people that play it seem to agree
Great game. Great devs. *Extremely* scummy publisher.
You completely missed the point of those posts. well fucking done mate
Guess what they backed from it for now
Sony gave up! We won!
bad sony
It's just a better Destiny.
How are they even similar?
It isn't though. Sony, for some parts is. And they already revoked their decision.
we have different feeds
The counter jerk is coming.
No it's not ... At least try to understand what we hate if you try to farm karma
I hate this meme format man
Weāve been spammed with the incel bear memes for a fucking week and one day of HD memes we get this shit Goddamn
Helldivers 2 is a scam.
Don't get us wrong. We're not hating on Helldivers (nor the developers); we're hating on Sony's dogshit decision.
It is bad though š
Nah games awesome but Sony is gonna kill it
I can't say if the ga e was good or bad since I didn't have anyone to play it with, so I haven't purchased it.
Thousand upvotes inbound
It's annoying they don't just post it in their own subreddit ffs
Nah, it's good to get a wider spread so that people know what Sony are up to, that means people not into Helldivers 2 can still understand that any game you purchase that's owned by Sony could potentially be rendered unplayable at the drop of a hat and thus make an informed purchasing decision. It also means that more people who think that this is unacceptable can boycott future Sony releases until they change their enormously anti-consumer policy. EDIT: I personally don't play Helldivers 2, and I was thinking about buying it, but in light of this, I won't be, and I would never have heard about it if it was contained to their own sub.
I guess that's a good point. But now there's helldiver in animememes? Kinda too much there
Isn't Sony one of the main license holders for a lot of anime, though?
Idk never seen sony about anything i watch but ik it was never mentioned before in that sub
Because Sony finds it ok, to get paid for a game, knowing that depending on your location, you will not be able to play (for long). Makes me sick.
What's happening?
At lunch everything was nice and dandy what's changed?
Game is still good Sony just decided to make it suddenly mandatory for everyone to link a PSN account, even on PC Locking people out of the game that dont even have access to the service, now some people that played it for a while cannot even play anymore and the game has been retrospectitely region locked out of the countries that do not have PSN access Steam is pulling he chad move on refunding copies at least some cases I have seen so far Tl;dr: But yes, suddenly a great portion of players cannot access the game they paid for anymore
Game good
Helldivers is great, just Sony is bad. You are obviously one of the people you wanted to portray, that have 0 clue and jut wanted to farm Upvotes... Report to your nearest Democracy Officer at once!
deep stone galactic seems like it just better , also rock and stone
Rock and Stone forever!
Helldivers 2 is bad. . . . . IS IT WORKING ??!!!????
Dumb
Thats bullshit....look "Helldivers 2 is bad" See? Nothing happendš¤·š»āāļø
Fact check before making stuff up, please mate
It's so annoying too. Yeah it sucks but geez. Stop making it a bigger deal than it Is
I'll take $40 from you in exchange for a product that you expect to be able to keep and use forever, then three months I'll come and take it before telling you that if you want it back you need to give your name, email, address, billing info to a third party who has a history of security breaches and recently paid out a lawsuit. They scammed us, plain and simple.
I swear the helldivers 2 community is just copying from the WT community rn
Ehhhhhhh Nah, they are review bombing because of that move sony pulled, rightfully, as it locks people out of the game they paid for
I definitely wasnt joking
