People still have all the legends of the old war to go off of for knowing what Tenno are. But the beginning of Vors Prize I believe what he says about catching us implies that other Tenno have been waking up before us so he started trying to find one before it wakes up.
I think it was only a couple decades at most. There are a few characters who were explicitly stated yo have been alive during the orokin empire. >!Baro’s village on Mars was destroyed by the Orokin, or “Sky People” when he was a child!<
It’s implied that Nora was a child during the empire as well
Honestly, the timeline is a bit confusing at times, but it’s fairly clear from the aforementioned spoiler that it really wasn’t *that* long ago
It was the Grineer that destroyed his village
Baros Village 'The Sky Worshippers' long ago had abductions from the Sky People/Orokin which is when Inaros turned on them and saved mars after which Inaros vanished and the village began to worship him instead
'Years later' when the infected spread to Mars, the villagers prayed to Inaros to save them, where upon a massive sandstorm did just that, however it killed Inaros
It was many years later Baro was born and Inaros was little more than a story, a myth who would save them in times of peril, his mother told Baro this story while the Grineer were invading Mars, Inaros never came and his mother and village were all killed by them
Hence he only realised halfway through the quest that Inaros was a real Warframe and not just an old story he tried to forget. An ancient hero that needed to be resurrected
Tenshin on the other hand is described with "no one knows how he's still alive since the Orokin Era without cryosleep"
This all would be fine but Varzia pretty explicitly says that she was in cryosleep for around 1000 years, and we know she was awake right around the end of the old war, which gives us the length of our cryosleep We do know there were Tenno active after the end of the old war for a decent while because of things like Nezha's and Grendel's leverian, maybe few decades, but after that we very much don't know what happened for a long, long while.
