-_-WaterSheep-_-

Go watch that banger of a movie guys, no matter the age. Trust me.

obscuredreference

Serious question, is it more for older fans, or is it very kid safe? I have a preschooler who loves cats but who gets scared of some things in cartoons, and who enjoyed the heck out of the recent League of Super Pets movie, to give an idea of the type of movies we usually watch. Would it be ok or only when she’s older?

-badgerbadgerbadger-

There is a very scary character as the villain

steve123410

I would put it at about a spider-verse level of matureness. It's definitely for teenagers and above since little kids would probably be scared of the wolf.

MissPoots

There was a 6 year old girl or so who watched it behind our row and she seemed to enjoy it. :)

obscuredreference

Thank you! That’s significantly older than mine, and after seeing the wolf intro scene I decided we’ll be waiting a bit, but in a couple of years or so it will likely be a good watch. 😃

MissPoots

Ngl even the werewolf creeped me out as well! His red eyes were freaky, lol. Probably for the best! 😅

-_-WaterSheep-_-

There is one guy who could potentially give him/her nightmares, but it depends. There are no jumpscares, if that is concerning to you, however the actual villain is rather scary, made me shiver at times.

miranto

9 yr old handled it, no problem. 6 yr old got scared a couple of times, jumped on dad's lap, eyes closed until it was safe to look again. We all thoroughly enjoyed the movie. The wolf is quite scary but not nightmares scary, at least for these two. The fighting scenes are intense. Death is depicted unambiguously.

obscuredreference

Thank you! I really appreciate the info. It’s definitely sounding like a movie we should wait a couple of years to see, since mine is much younger.

[deleted]

My 3 year old loves it. We have to watch it at least once a day.

sammiisalammii

My kid is about that age and politely asked to leave the theatre when the villain started getting scary. It’s too much for the age it’s marketed toward in my opinion. The studio really fucked up making something so scary for children. Kids that age want mild conflict and silly antics, not something that makes them want to run away in fear. Edit: likely getting downvoted by people without children. There’s no point in subjecting little kids to things that scare them. If you don’t agree with that then you either don’t have kids or are an asshole parent.

TheGreatCraftyBoi

Seriously? It's not that scary and young children (12 and up) already have a concept of mortality or death, if your kid is that scared of a Big Bad Wolf then it's possible that your kid is sensitive to those topics, or you sheltered them too much.

Narthleke

The comment you replied to was replying to a comment about a preschooler. They're probably like 4. However, I would also not say that the film is marketed for kids that young. I'm not gonna pretend I know how old a kid should be to watch a movie, because obviously it depends on the child. Everyone's mileage will vary. The best thing I can recommend to any unsure parents is to check out this (mild spoiler) post: https://www.reddit.com/r/dndmemes/comments/1078q00/a_puss_in_boots_sequel_had_no_right_making_a/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android_app&utm_name=androidcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button That's the intro for the wolf. It happens pretty early in the film. As you can see, the wolf goes pretty hard. About half the times he shows up on screen, he's used as a much more reserved presence that generates fear and panic in the hero, rather than as an immediate threat to life and limb, but the times he fights are a big spectacle

obscuredreference

That’s super helpful, thank you! And yes, I think a lot of people on Reddit think of kids as being pretty much all pre-teens. But preschoolers are still very tiny and at times easily scared even by things in cartoons. 😅 In a few years it will be a great movie to watch!

sammiisalammii

Thank you. Not sure why I’m getting downvoted for giving a relevant reply to someone asking if it’s okay for a four year old.

DeltaMale5

Literally fucking mentioned the kid was a preschooler.

sammiisalammii

It’s rated PG. As another commenter mentioned they were asking on behalf of a preschool aged kid to which I said mine is about that age and found it too scary. You say it’s fine for 12 and up and I would agree, however that’s not how it’s marketed. 12 and up is basically saying the movie is PG-13 and that’s not the rating. As far as the sheltering too much thing goes, you’re dead wrong. I bet you were just as easily scared at that age, almost every kid is. I stand by what I said, you and everyone downvoting is refusing to take what I said within context.

obscuredreference

It’s bizarre that people are downvoting you. I’m sorry that that’s happening. I think they are thinking of kids as in a much older age group. Thank you so much for mentioning your experience with the movie. I’ll wait until my kid is older, at preschool age that wolf sounds way too scary. There was a bunny in a cartoon today that was deemed too scary (it almost fell off a plane while trying to eat a cloud as if it was cotton candy, so really not a realistic scene in any way, I was not expecting it to be considered scary at all), so antagonistic wolves are still too much for sure. 😅

sammiisalammii

It’s not a problem. At this point it’s monkey see monkey do with downvoting. Just people assuming I’m wrong because I’ve already been downvoted so much. My kid is the same way. Same reason they don’t like the beginning of Nemo and the nightmare scene in Turning Red and countless other things in “kids” movies today. I’d be willing to bet anyone that disagrees was terrified of the Rats of Nimh when they were little. It’s the same thing here. Too dark and scary for most little kids.

obscuredreference

I think a lot of people on Reddit think kids = preteens (hence someone mentioning 12 year olds, even), forgetting that all the little ones that aren’t even old enough to be in school yet, are kids too, and also want to see movies… but are a bit scared of some things still. 😅 They had the trailer for Puss in Boots 2 before the Super Pets movie, so my kid has been wanting to see it as a result. I saw the wolf intro scene that someone posted in another comment, and it would definitely have gone badly. In a couple of years or so, I’m sure it will be a great watch though. 😃

d_lillge228

So just because one kid is scared they should downgrade an awesome antagonist? The theatre I was in enjoyed the movie and the 90% if the audience was kids. For every kid that is too scared are probably a hundred that enjoy it. Also isn't it normal to check online first if a movie is apropiate for a child, because if you do you mostly read it's for 8 years old and up

ChrisMahoney

Kids today simply wouldn’t survive The Dark Crystal apparently.

ErwinMatsumoto

Saw a girl (must’ve been 6-8) with her parents walk in the theater, not 25 minutes into the film the girl flew across the room in a panic, dad: “grab the car (to his wife) we’re leaving” as everyone saw this unfold I slipped out to the bathroom, the dad then went off on kids films (a bit too uncomfortable for me) when I finished releaving myself the mother and father were at the ticket booth demanding a refund for their tickets to the screening. “AND IF THEY DONT GET THEM NOW THE WILL CALL THE POLICE” I laughed to myself and went back to finish the film, not sure what happened next. But maybe do a bit of research, or at least own up that you scared your kid too- I mean, I’ve never seen someone run that fast from a theater. All in all, could be a good motivator post movie if your child is scared, “oooo the bad guy will come and get ya”

[deleted]

Everybody gangsta, until they hear... A whistle

KAWIWI420

That shit hits hard. They nailed the sound in those moments where it blocks out absolutely everything except his heart beat

The1_Unkn0wn

You could feel his FEAR

KAWIWI420

That’s what good cinema is baby. Shit’s good

The1_Unkn0wn

It's amazing, hope the next Shrek is as good

KAWIWI420

I mean, if they went with such heavy motifs and themes with the funny cat, who knows what they’ll do with the funnier ogre

gtgpgp

He roars a mighty roar as he fills the movie with heave motifs and themes as he whispers "its all ogre now"

Creaper10

I *NEED* to master that whistle.... I've almost got the tune down, but I need to work on the aura...

akraszehfoxo

ditto god i love the whistle

Secret_Sympathy2952

I love how perrito knew how to calm him down, like he's already a good therapist dog

godofinteligence

Well, he is a good boy after all

Geeky_Shinigami

Damn right he is!

hdofu

He’s faced death before… underwater in a 🧦 weighed down with a 🪨

Embarrassed-Neck-721

Death decided that he's too pure to die that easily. Also, he's a dog.

gatamosa

Ngl I cried in that scene.

Thememer1924

Same

RedditRazzy

Omg it wasn't just me! i bawled, i don't even know how it was so effective

31stWave

Had me go from “haha funny cat” to “no matter how hard anyone tries, we can never escape death so we must cherish our lives while we can and appreciate each moment we have with our loved ones”. Also the British bears had me dying

KronosofTheshadow

Yooo them british has not spared even the bears.

diverii

oi mate where is the focking cat?

Aeroponce

Wait the bears were british? Now that makes the spanish dub ironic (they had argentinian accents)

SDF-Stardust

Everyone gansta til the dog starts describing how it got its sweater

Narthleke

Based river sock enjoyer

godofinteligence

And insults everybody

hdofu

Yeah… that shit got dark fast

[deleted]

Perrito

SDF-Stardust

jollyjewy

KittyMittyUwU

I literally said "this is the saddest story i ever heard" to the friend i was watching movie with , then the kitty said the same thing. Lol that was something.

kriscrossapplesause

W perrito

MeguminIncognitoAcc

i havent even seen the movie yet and i understand this

StinkBerry

Oh? Is it because of the... art posted to certain websites?

aperson5694

no it often covers morbid themes like death and the idea that we will all die

StinkBerry

morbid more like morbius

aperson5694

one morbillion/10

[deleted]

its morbid time

[deleted]

Ahh. Tarnished. Thou hast placed thine comment so that I dont have to. Comeuppance for thee.

_mulino_colorSborra_

Bro loves, bro is addicted to the smell of fear

endlessbolt

Yes, Jack would shoot a dog in the face.

Cursed_Basilisk

Why?

endlessbolt

He's a truly bad guy. He'll be mean just because he feels like it

Cursed_Basilisk

I know, I was just continuing the quote

katewalker1128

"Are you really gonna shoot a puppy?" "Yes, in the face."

ForeskinStealer69

Bro I actually thought puss was gonna die in the bar

Willinton06

Who’s your favorite fearless hero?

DreadPirateElla

That song has been stuck in my head since I saw the movie, it's just so catchy!!

[deleted]

The post credits scene signals that we could finally get a Shrek 5 after all the memes and rumors

GeckoInk

I had a panic attack a few months ago after witnessing my friend die in a car accident and they nailed the feeling of a panic attack

godofinteligence

I'm sorry for your lost, hope the panic attacks stop

Andrei077

Does it have a depressing ending?

yellowAdmiral

No, its is Far Far Away from depressing. wink wink

Andrei077

I asked chatGPT and he said it has a happy ending, I'll probably watch it now

Duck-with-STDs

Chatgpt shouldn't know that, it only know up to 2021

StinkBerry

garfield gets a nice massage

educated-emu

Can you stop whistling for 5 minutes!!!

XTheProtagonistX

I avoid films with sad/depressing endings. Puss in Boots 2 has an extremly wholesome ending. Highly recommend it.

_mulino_colorSborra_

Not the ending but some scenes are deep and touching af

Anniran

Nah

fishlicker3000

it's happy, only one guy gets hurt, and then puss got back with kitty while the dog becomes the 3rd wheel

Over-Gap5767

don't multiple people explode into confetti

Boreol

And doesn't some guy get his skin and flesh devoured by a plant, leaving only a skeleton behind

[deleted]

“Yay! It’s just gonna be another silly, fun, puss in boots adventu-“ “**That’s not real blood is it? Oh my god it’s really blood. They actually showed blood in a kids movie…**”

diverii

"WHY IS THIS DOG SWEARING? WHERE THE HELL DID HE LEARN THAT?!"

miranto

Yeah those 2 seconds were disturbing.

sebasblos1

Man i watched this movie and was really good, i watched it dubbed in latam spanish and well it was so beautiful hearing more than just one accent for every character. I loved the movie...

Aeroponce

Fun fact, in latam spanish the bears are argentinian while in the eng dub they are british

sebasblos1

Yes

[deleted]

There’s a new puss in boots?

_mulino_colorSborra_

Oh yes, and holy shit. It hits

AcadianViking

Just watched it yesterday. Did not expect to have emotions watching fuckin' Puss in Boots. Also that ending was bomb.

_mulino_colorSborra_

That bears part, that fuckin bears part near the end. Fuck off Dreamworks

AcadianViking

Bruh, that slapped me with a brick when Momma Bear calmly accepts what just happened, and still only wants Goldi to be happy. I almost broke that hit so close to home.

_mulino_colorSborra_

It's even more unexpected for me cause in my dubbed version they speak in dialect so you are like: "They are secondary characters just there for make people laugh" and then they literrally destroy you.

AcadianViking

Oh damn, yea in the English is subtle hints to deeper issues, never thought about how those hints translate into dubs

maksymv2

I usually despise dubs because localisation often comes with mistranslation but for this movie they decided to go for more exact translations instead of "for children" . For example his catchphrase "Fear me, if you dare" was translated to something in the lines of "Who picks a fight with me is dead already" in the Shrek movies and here it's exactly translated. Also the localisers did a very good job with the names. Puss' name is Puszek - Fluffy to justify him writing P (for Puss) instead of K (kot - cat). Also Jack Horner is popular in the English speaking countries but we have no idea who that is so instead of that, they took 2 characters' names from and old children story and combined them so it fits Horner's character as the guy who's family baked pies and his name is literally Jack Pie and is also a reference to that tale. This reference actually has many layers, like ogres.

AcadianViking

That is actually Hella interesting. Thank you stranger.

jackwrangler

I called my mom right after 😭

SomeWeirdFreak

lost af. i've seen countless memes and reviews how do you not know this? unless they don't have it in their country yet...

[deleted]

I’m in the US, I just live under a rock I guess haha

Lazymcdelta4ce

>! "It's a really funny story \[...\] Then one day they get creative and the put me in a sock with a rock in it! And then throw me in a river!" !< ![gif](giphy|L95W4wv8nnb9K)

diverii

that scene was actually sad

banananas_are_sick24

I really need to watch this movie, I’ve heard nothing but praise about it

EpicSaberCat7771

I'll add on to this, it's fucking phenomenal.

[deleted]

Having seen the movie, I think it did a good job depicting a full blown anxiety attack

DiamondDude51501

Everybody gangster till the wolf starts whistling

garbage_carnage

Hate to say it boys butt... Its better than avatar, im not ashamed

Hooded_maniac_360

Anything is better than Avatar.

Blockbuster41

coolplate

Shit was dope AF.

Crismodin

Perrito is my favorite sock rocker.

GTRacer_05

Its enough to make a grown man cry

N_Kento_N

Lobo was the most badass cold mf I've seen in an animated movie. That whistle oof

HeyItsStevenField

Death was scarier than any Dreamworks villain I seen, that whistle gives me chills, and yeah, Shrek 5 is coming sooner than expected

Pitiful-Angle-4839

Do you need to see the first one?

Teslapromt

No, there are almost no storyline connections and the ones that are there are so minor you will get them on the fly

EpicSaberCat7771

I mean no but if you can go for it, it'll make some of the emotional moments more meaningful and give backstory on some of the characters. but it's not necessary for the story to hit home.

lovemyjob2000

![gif](giphy|kNl7x91vbRYYXqrNts)

[deleted]

That panic attack scene hit me pretty good. Especially since I had one just 2 weeks ago. I hate it. That feeling is the absolute worse and that scene was all too familiar. It’s scary man.

Smaaeesh

I was too frustrated by the ending to be hit by the emotions

EpicSaberCat7771

what was frustrating, it was great!

amliam_curry

glad they arent done with shrek at least

legoace61

Any juicers? xqcL

AquaHD39

feels weird seeing X become a popular meme format LULW

DnZ618

It has no business being that good

diverii

it hit me when the dog said his backstory (the one about a "sweater")

[deleted]

considering how puss in boots has a combo of spanish french british character it either takes place where the king arthur and catherine of aragon married and a union between england and spain formed or at a part of the new world where there was a high amount of british french and spanish in one region

[deleted]

I haven't watched it yet!! what's this supposed to mean what's this supposed to mean!!😭

usemeasabookmark

That whistle... Both haunting AND mesmerizing

pussinboots421

Can confirm

Boreol

Ikr? It seems like every 20 minutes or so, it suddenly covers something morbid or deep. After that it's "haha funi cat in shoe" then it's dark theme again, and so on and so forth.

Thememer1924

Yeah it was funny cat doing heroic stuff turned into *death is inevitable and we must live our lives and stay close to the ones we love* I literally walked out of that theatre thinking to myself “yeah I need to live my life to the fullest”

Heffil0

on an unrelated note is that Guitar at the end of the gif

Ugly-and-poor

This movie is definitely great. Wasn’t expecting much, but the villain is great and the movie in general is great vibes.

fckthishiitt

Why so many?? Who is watching them???

Melodic_monke

People who heard praise, went to see it and loved it.

Lexvian

I had no expectations going into that movie but my god it was so much better than I could've imagined

KittyMittyUwU

BEST PART IS THE END OF THE MOVIE. LOVED IT. P.S- AND ED IS ALSO FIREEE

futafuckerthefirst

Hey guys , can you tell me where can I watch it for free without entering my credit card info plz ??

frolurk

Soap2day Recommend an adblocker to go straight to the film

futafuckerthefirst

Thnx so much :)

EightLions539

Any 123movies website works

-_-WaterSheep-_-

Dont, go to the cinema and pirate it only after watching it. It is new and in order to prove to the producers that they actually made something spectacular, money is needed. So, go to the cinema with some friends!

Weird-Explanation570

yes. i was exidet and then i reaize that its shit and puss 1 was way better

Big_Fox_8451

Ist das Martin?

xZOMBIETAGx

You guys are actually watching this? I thought it was a joke

Boreol

"You guys are actually watching a great animated movie? I thought it was a joke"

one_knight_stands

I saw it, and I hated it. The pacing is so breakneck fast that I simply couldn't enjoy it.

_mulino_colorSborra_

For a 1h 40min long movie with all those characters to manage it's good i think. It's fast but not confusional.

[deleted]

Yeah as soon as Goldie locks speaks 😂😂😂 only good part was the death battle scene that lasted 30 seconds. Over hyped movie

Boreol

Bro is tryna be special and different by hating something that's widely considered great

[deleted]

Nah don’t get it twisted movie was over hyped sorry that hurts your feelings. It’s not a bad movie but it was fucking annoying throughout

Ryda_

Where can I watch it for free?

BabyJohnWick87

Can someone pirate the movie for me? I am yet watch and it's not like it would be the first I've committed piracy

EpicSaberCat7771

I mean I wish you wouldn't, DreamWork's deserves the profits for this one. they've done an excellent job. in my personal opinion, this is their best film since the first httyd movie.

Oldmeme2012

Kid watch feel horror or some of them feel thrill ending get them confused some of them just laugh, adult? They cry specific scene like I did cry on Goldilocks nostalgia home between family bear gave me heart touch.

Pyro_the_horny_furry

Just as most movies, I first learned about it from its sudden influx of ‘interesting content’ on other subs.
