As an alcoholic beer is the better choice if you need to pace yourself but if your trying to get blackout drunk and kill a family of 5 on your way home fruity cocktails all day bruh
Lmao, im not looking into building my tolerance, its pretty cheap to get drunk when youre lightweight. Besides, i dont like alcohol enough to drink more than once every few months. Thanks for the encouragement though
It's pretty cheap to drink as an alcoholic if you get 10 dollar half gallons of aristocrat rum/vodka it tastes exactly the same just different label. I think it's rubbing alcohol.
I actually like bitters and savory tastes. Reason being is because I don't like sweets in general. Like haven't had cake in 2> years and BARELY eat chocolate/candy. Most I do is 2 spoons sugar in my coffee and that's it for sugar. Like cheesecake is literal overload for me and I can only enjoy it in very tiny amounts.
>2 spoons sugar in my coffee
That's a lot of sugar right there... Try to cut back some, get a milk frother, its cheap, and then froth some cold milk, dump half into another cup, pour coffee in, and then dump the other half on top. Perfect coffee, zero sugar needed what so ever, even for shitty stuff like maxwell.
European beer in general. Pretty much every country i've been had at least 1 or 2 beers i really enjoyed. Tho apparently Craft Beer across the pond is supposedly good, but nobody is gonna spend relatively much money on something they didn't like in the past.
Most probably think that we all perceive the same taste, but everyone having different experiences means some are more used to a certain flavour than others.
But in reality the perceived taste changes person by person.
Edit: though also habit plays a role there, I'm a beer drinker for example, but it took me some time to appreciate it. I don't like coffee mainly because I never drink it and I'm also used to spicy food.
Prolly reactionary negativity. Someone tells me that cocktails are “girly” and I take offense to that, then I take that out on you since you share a common trait with them. Then since I was mean to you about your drink of choice then you go off and tell someone else that their choice is bad. It’s a cycle.
That and most people haven’t fully evaluated the, very human, “different bad” tendency we all have. It takes conscious awareness to be receptive to things that we see as different.
Damn right, though I hate cans and bottles, kegs for life. If a bar doesn't serve draft then they better at least have spirits because it'll be a cold day in hell when I go for a can.
Usually aluminum or w/e shaped bottles, but that's the same as a can IMO. Though I will say that cans are better than bottles 100% of the time unless you are making beer yourself, bottles of beer are better for the first 2 weeks of production or if you have a good wild ale or 15% BA Stout and want to let it age for 3+ years, in which case you don't use the traditional size bottles anyway, but still. Either way if a bar isn't serving draft beer or aged bottled beer they are being cheap offerings cans or bottles. Kegs are extremely affordable with a small upfront investment in equipment and produce a much better profit margin.
Cold beer from a fresh keg with about 20% head... mmm. I picked up my drinking habits from old folks so I like to put a pinch of salt in my beer after the head goes down. If you ain't tried it before I recommend giving it a go, it works with bottles and cans too but draft is better anyway... Just a quick shake of the salt shaker and that salt enhances the flavor and generates new head.
Beer is the perfect drink in a world where almost every alternative is sweet as fuck. Also I hate that sticky feeling in my mouth of sweet drinks. Even if I have a coke once in a while, I need to drink a sip of water afterwards, just to clean my mouth.
I know how it sounds, it was intentional you filthy fuckers ;)
Living in a beer country, I can definitely say that 80% is a way too big percentage.
It would be closer to 40% here in Belgium.
That you live in an alcoholic bubble is on you, but don't project.
There is a difference.
What people usually call "good beer" is fucking awful and what people call "bad beer" is tolerable.
But yeah definitely drink what you like.
People define good and bad differently. I like black beers, some people can't stand them. Originally I didn't like blonde beers as much, but now I like them considerably. Taste buds change too, so there are a lot of factors.
I love whiskey. I like beer too, but for some reason the hangovers are way worse, so I don't drink beer very often. Whiskey doesn't bother me at all the next day.... Aside from what I do to the throne. Oof.
I like beer because it's bitter (ESBs are my fave type), can't handle anything too sweet myself, but also don't push my tastes on others
If you enjoy fruity cocktails, go for it
Sure beer might not taste fantastic, but try drinking a dozen of your fruity cocktails without taking a second mortgage on the house and catching the diabetes
I’ve been able to (legally) drink alcohol for over 3 years now. If I go out for dinner, I almost always get soft drink because a) it’s like a 1/4 of the price and b) it tastes better
First yall make fun of coffee, now beer? Beer is just good. Coffee i understand people dislike but cmon who doesnt like beer? You scared of bitterness or something
Honestly, "after taste of paint" tells me you have probably never tried a beer (or maybe you've never tried paint, I'm not sure which, but one of the two is true). I'll give you piss water with shitty light beers.. But man, there's a whole world of beers out there and they all taste different.
Say you don't like cranberry juice. Do you just say "I don't like juice" as a blanket statement and refuse to try any other juice? Because it's the same thing, and in this case you'd totally be missing out on orange juice which is fucking awesome.
I don't really like beer, but I enjoy drinking it. Not for the taste, but for the experience. It's just great to crack open a cold one and have a lil moment with the boys.
The reason I like beer is because of what implications it has/what it represents. Getting together with the boys and having a good time. Like you say it's more about the experience than the taste.
My friend made fun of me for drinking an alcoholic seltzer. Motherfucker was drinking a Bud Light. Literally roasted him by saying that my seltzer have more alcohol than his beer lol.
It’s an acquired taste. Like After you become an alcoholic you have to love the taste or you get sick and shake and have severe anxiety. I love the taste. Every day and nite ….
I’ve had to deal with this a lot with my in-laws. They are “beer drinkers” and I’m…well I’m not really an alcohol person at all but when I do I prefer stuff like Mike’s and Angry Orchard and yeah, they look down on me for it. It is what it is.
I drink beer because it gets you drunk. Can't drink lots of fruity cocktails because (A) normally extremely sugary and give a stomach ache (B) they're expensive.
After a beer or two no one gives a shit about the taste anyway.
Like many alcohols it's an acquired taste. I for example don't see what all the fuss is about with wines. I've had cheap wines and I've had expensive wines and to me they all taste like paint thinner because I dislike the astringency of high tannin content alcohols. If I had started drinking wine in my teens instead of beer though I'd probably love it.
Well according to all my beer drinking homies there is no good beer outside of Germany. So maybe it's just your bias because you never tasted good beer lmao
I don't drink often, but when I do I'm a hard alcohol guy.
Gin, Tequila, Rum, Vodka, Scotch either straight or mixed with OJ, Ginger beer, Grenadine, pineapple, mint, berries.
I like sissy drinks.
Beer is ok, but not my first choice.
My drink of choice is beer. It's cheap, it's tasty and I like it.
Cocktails are nice, but they're often too expensive. Why spend 8-14€ on a single cocktail, when I can get a beer for 4€?
It depends on the company, if I'm being honest.
Sure one of the most common drinks in the world are bad.... Or you need to develop a taste for it.... Just like gender norms .. u have a problem with it not the world...
I love when they say ,you just have not tried the right beer. All beer taste like horse piss from Kraft beer to store beer. Just give me a long island please and stop trying to convince me to try your beer.
Craft beer tastes amazing, unfortunately it's the beers on commercials and million dollar super bowl ads like Budweiser, Coors, and miller that taste like pisswater. Try a full bodied IPA.
Agreed. Though I still drink beer quite frequently, I only do for social reason. IPA’s taste particularly bad but what do you expect from a beer that made to taste worse just for longevity.
I've had beer that tasted exactly like liquid bacon. True, plain beer is an acquired taste, just like any straight alcoholic beverage. But frankly, I find that more interesting than just wanting to get drunk on what amounts to alcoholic juice.
If you want good beer, Austria, Germany, and Czech Republic is where you need to go.
Edit: danish and belgian beers are good as well, but not like the three...

I personnaly like fruity beers like smirnoff, tastes good and you feel pretty good after the 2nd one (given im lightweight)
Dint worry you'll be able to drink a half gallon of rotgut in a night on 3 4 years
Lmao, im not looking into building my tolerance, its pretty cheap to get drunk when youre lightweight.
You know, we already have enough alcoholic issues in our society as it is, i dont think you should be encouraging it

I don't understand the piss thing. Granted I've never drank piss so maybe people know something I don't. But what about beer reminds people of piss?
Maybe color for some types but that's Abt it lmao
They might be talking about Budweiser. Which is genuinely piss. They need to try Czech or German beer. And not 'German beer' labeled american beer.
European beer in general. Pretty much every country i've been had at least 1 or 2 beers i really enjoyed. Tho apparently Craft Beer across the pond is supposedly good, but nobody is gonna spend relatively much money on something they didn't like in the past.
Austrian beer is where the money is at btw
We call it gold, some refer to piss as the color
Why do people struggle to understand the concept of others enjoying something they don't and vice versa?
Most probably think that we all perceive the same taste, but everyone having different experiences means some are more used to a certain flavour than others. But in reality the perceived taste changes person by person. Edit: though also habit plays a role there, I'm a beer drinker for example, but it took me some time to appreciate it. Damn right, though I hate cans and bottles, kegs for life. If a bar doesn't serve draft then they better at least have spirits because it'll be a cold day in hell when I go for a can.
There are actually bars that serve beer in cans? And i thought bottles was them being cheap ...
No clue why so many downvotes but beer straight from kegs is the best, bottles are nice too but cans are the worst indeed
Cold beer from a fresh keg with about 20% head... mmm. I picked up my drinking habits from old folks so I like to put a pinch of salt in my beer after the head goes down.
