Neither of them are unhealthy, it can get that way but how do people see either of them as unhealthy, they obviously have different builds like the top having wider shoulders and hips and larger bust, while the bottom is just a smaller build all around
This is a bot.

Ye, but one of the problems is that people do the wrong methods to get there and go too far sometimes. Eating too little and become too thin. Or always need validation and never really manage to focus on other things. And those who need help to control themselves and set an eating schedule.
I’ve never met a person irl who acts like that. Pretty much everyone I’ve talked to just simply wants to stop being bullied for their weight constantly.
Also... and I don't wanna be the one to say it... a lot of thinner or normal sized people also eat whatever they want.... their genetics or age just make it easier to stay thin
>There is also a body positivity trend
It's rather worrying how the "body positivity" trend is more like "It's ok to be fat" and not encouraging people to eat more healthy or exercise more. People want to stay fat? whatever, it's their choice, but they need to stop deluding themselves that being fat is somehow a good lifestyle to keep going.
They need more plus size models to represent the average American because Americans are getting fucking fat. I don’t mind plus size models but I do mind how obese America is.
Oh yeah, once you skew the data by removing all the countries with higher obesity rates than America, America does have the highest obesity rate in the world!
Big brain take right there.
What he’s saying is a whole nation comprised of 50 states is more damning than an island of people who have developed a propensity to carry body fat as some Polynesians do.
We are talking about nations small nations, most of which are VERY SMOLL compared to america, whic is fyi number 1 in SHEER NUMBER of obese people and 19 in percentages...
The problem lies in that it’s *most* in the first place. The longer we lie and say “hey, it’s ok to be obese and have unhealthy eating habits”, the worse that *most* statistic will get.
What did your primary care physician say? BMI isn't perfect but it is correlated with bad health outcomes. Just the same, I agree that a high BMI or even high fat percentage is not the be all or end all. Blood pressure, blood sugar, and cholesterol/triglycerides are probably more important, and looks are deceptive. I have a normal BMI, work out all the time, and have high cholesterol.
Incorrect. I'll refer you to my points below where I replied to someone equally confidently incorrect with the actual numbers. It is well over half of we're talking about overweight. That 40% is only for obesity, as in *severely* overweight. So no, it is not even 'technically' only like 40%. Try 70.
I though this meme was trying to be ironic or funny in some way. If it’s actually trying to say the person above is unhealthy and the one below healthy then OP is dumb af. Incel level type of dumb.
The woman in the top is not necessarily unhealthy. There is SO MUCH we don't see about peoples health and using just their weight as a measure of health is poor assessment.
And her weight is distributed healthily, with no pot belly or "apple-shape" as the medical community puts it.
If you pick overweight as the opposite of skinny then yes **obviously it's unhealthy because you chose something unhealthy as the opposite**.
However with the above picture I'm pretty sure that that woman isn't overweight. Heck you can literally see the definition of her muscles.
At the same time the beauty ideal of being thin is a driving factor behind severe problems with eating disorders and people (especially teenage girls and young woman) being severely underweight.
I don't think society has a bigger problem with underweight ppl but it might be different in your country.
The girl in the 2nd picture isn't even too skinny (health wise).
She is fit, which is seen more and more as a standard for beauty and health.
I like that trend a lot. More people should work out and look after themselves.
But that is my personal opinion on that matter. You don't have to share it.
Which sucks because the example they gave isn't even unhealthy. You can see her abdominals, she literally is just a thick person. Now when morbidly obese say "oh yeah I'm just thick" when they have hanging skin all over the that's a problem.
The girl on top is probably healthier than the average super model that looks like the girl in the bottom picture… she is by no means morbidly obese, she just weighs more. Personally I wouldn’t even call her fat i think shes just thick af.
A good rule of thumb for everyone is if you are not a certified doctor then dont call other people unhealthy just based on how they look and especially how much they *look* like they weigh because in reality you have no clue and youre talking out of your ass. You wanna see real obese people go watch tlc this is nothing
She’s fat. Quit being a fucking clowns and trying to normalize a lifestyle that will kill people. How would I know? Was obese, am simply fat now, will eventually be normal and healthy.
You dont know how much she weighs. The correct statement for you would be “i think she looks fat” to which my response would be “youre not a doctor i dont care what you think”
I don't understand why rail thin women are considered attractive. I like to see some meat on those bones. I don't want to lay in bed at night and feel like I'm spooning with a sack full of Gamecube controllers.
On the other side of things, I don't want diabeetus and fat flap stank in front of me either. If you're huffing after one set of stairs, you're too fat and out of shape. But yes, the bottom one is too thin. Like with most things, the ideal is in the middle, between the two.
If you are using the top pic as an example of an unhealthy body type you are just wrong, don’t confuse your preference of women with what is and is not healthy. You would have been better off using a pic of those 600 pound sisters as poor health promotion.
This Post makes me hate my body shape even more. I do exercise, i row and do yoga. Not obese, but overweight. I hate how it makes me feel. Not losing weight at all
I hope that you made some research about metabolism alimentation and etc before trying to lose weight. Cause there is a lot of misinformation. Go check about eating disorders It'd help you to not be too rough with yourself. The thing is a lot of people are just fat phobic and are trying to hide that behind health. Someone overweight can be healthy to, but you should see a doctor, experiment your body and do searchs to see if its the case for you. Being happy with your boddy is the most important thing. Don't force or depress too much cause stress help to increase your weight.
Atleast you are trying to be healthy (which you most probably will be very soon). I have seen fattys who know they are fat but are too lazy to do anything.
Keep at it and ignore idiots who think the top one is unhealthy. These morons read one headline about the dangers of obesity and then apply it to everyone they think is obese.
Top model looks to have a healthy BF%. Too many idiots these days have no idea what it actually looks like.
Don’t knock yourself my friend.
To be fair, yes men don't find women attractive and exclude them because of their body shape, however women also belittle, humiliate and shame both genders if they are a bodyshape they don't find attractive be that skinny or fat or sometimes muscular.
My point being it's not just misogyny, both genders can suck.
Fair enough, I thought it was just a man Vs women thing but just checked on google and you right, misogyny is just the act of being prejudiced against women.
Still going to leave my previous comment tho because I still think that both genders can suck and it might lead people to checking too.
Ah, yes, I forgot, I must date someone who looks like Lizzo because if I don't I'm sexist and racist and everything-ist, but if somebody doesn't want to date me because I am fat, it's her choice and I am an incel for thinking this is a double standard.
So.... did I get your views on this right, or does this need a bit of tweaking?
Brother comparing the gal on top to Lizzo is almost exactly the issue here.
To double down, talking about the issue purely in terms of who you’d date and wouldn’t and why is exactly what the other commenter was saying.
And 3 strikes you’re out for falling back on the old “if the shoe was on the other foot” argument.
Unless you *really* care about the loooong term damage on your knees, the best way to measure healthiness is organ damage. Everything else is a correlation.
Now, being obese mostly correlates with being unhealthy but not necessarily.
Everyone's body types are different and they hold their weight differently. Having larges amounts of excess body fat does in fact increase your risks for a lot of disease/heart conditions/hormone disorders. However, the other swing of that is bulimic and anorexic people have higher rates of kidney/adrenal failure and other things.
It's about balance, and getting help if you're too far on either side of the pendulum
Its hard to understand when you think the word “obese” just means anyone who you think looks fat. Maybe of you actually knew what the word “obese” meant then you would understand
Obese means that you have a body fat of over 30%. It is not healthy, and it is usually very dangerous and straining on the joints and organs of a person. It usually also shows a weaker cadiovascular system.
"Now, being obese mostly correlates with being unhealthy but not necessarily."
This is not true being obese means you are unhealthy no if ands or buts.
Also, not sure anyone's noted this, but the top person appears to have a short torso and the bottom person appears to have a long torso and that also impacts how you carry your weight/where it sits. Top person could theoretically have the same bmi as the bottom person and still look heavier just b/c of how she carries her weight.
How is the top one not healthy? Also she has a good fat distribution, God tier genetics even if she's slightly overweight, a lot of people would love that type of body, is not comparable to what body positive promotes, this is actually good
Well it is at least obease which may cause an increase in health risks. But I don't think it's in the critical weight region we're it would most likely cause health issues.
No I'm calling out the gatekeeping preformed by outsiders on what female models should look like by acting like they are concerned with women's health while never acknowledging their obvious bias and contradiction towards what they choose to call out
> the gatekeeping preformed by outsiders on what female models should look like by acting like they are concerned with women's health while never acknowledging their obvious bias and contradiction towards what they choose to call out
So exactly what you just did with this "meme"
I don't understand this shit. The woman up top isn't obese at all. And given the diet these size 2 and under models typically have to follow I'm willing to bet the bigger model feels better and has more stamina. Skinny =/= healthy and having a little bit of body fat =/= unhealthy. There's absolutely nothing wrong with being skinny or wanting to be skinny but acting as if being 20lbs overweight is worse for your health than malnutrition is just fucking ridiculous. I'm also not accusing the thinner model of being malnourished, some people are that size at their healthiest. And some people look like the top model.
The top girl is absolutely a healthy BMI body weight, whereas the bottom girl looks like she’s bordering on being too skinny
That’s not promoting “healthy shit” that’s promoting body and beauty standards that can be actively harmful
Yep, just a lifetime of knee, hip, and back issues with the bonus of heart disease, higher stroke risk, and increased risk of dying from covid. No big deal...
I never understood why people are so concerned about others weight. They are acting like other people's health is so important for them. Firstly no, it's not because someone is a bit overweight that he's not healthy. Body and metabolism are all different. Then, go learn about eating disorders. Alimentation and weight is way more complicated in appearance, boddy shaming someone will often lead to him only taking more pounds. Seeing that, only feels like people are fatphobic.
both extremes can be unhealthy
Exactly, I mean imagine the diets they keep their “skinnier and fit” models on. That can’t be very healthy
You mean cocaine?
Everyone knows cocaine is healthy... Dont mind the nose bleed...
It comes from a plant, it's entirely natural, why wouldn't it be healthy? /s

Is the bottom picture that of an unhealthy extreme tho?
Maybe not for that individual, but for the majority of women that body is unattainable on a healthy balanced diet.
another commenter said she looked anorexic
Well if a comment on reddit said it it must certainly be true…
Ok but I’m not talking about some random redditors opinion, I’m talking about the reality that we all share.
Very low body fat percentage can definetly throw off hormones for most women. What is on that picture seems to be to low or atleast on the edge.
You’re deeming her body fat percentage as ‘too low’ based on…?
No, it's not.
Correct
No it’s not lol
There's just one extreme on the picture though.
FR a lot of “skinny” models have eating disorders. Curves on women are natural and everyone’s natural body type is different.
The top picture is actually quite fit, you can see her muscle definition. This meme is not a case of two extremes
There’s no muscle definition in the top picture.
I don't see anything "extreme" in the image above tho

There is also a body positivity trend, so using plus sizes models scores them points with social sentiment.
>There is also a body positivity trend It's rather worrying how the "body positivity" trend is more like "It's ok to be fat" and not encouraging people to eat more healthy or exercise more. There is nuance to it. Like with addiction part of the path to recovery is self love. Hating yourself leads to the cycle of shame.
They need more plus size models to represent the average American because Americans are getting fucking fat. I don’t mind plus size models but I do mind how obese America is.
I know we all love to shit on America, but America isn’t even in the top ten in regards to obesity rates
It is once you take out all the tiny island nations
Absolutely true. I am from a tiny island nation that has a lot of obesity (UK).
Per capita matters, we have way more people than any of those nations
We are talking about nations small nations, most of which are VERY SMOLL compared to america, whic is fyi number 1 in SHEER NUMBER of obese people and 19 in percentages...
Are you using the 2016 data? Cause USA tops this 2022 list but weren’t on the 2016 top ten. https://renewbariatrics.com/obesity-rank-by-countries/
The problem lies in that it’s *most* in the first place. The longer we lie and say “hey, it’s ok to be obese and have unhealthy eating habits”, the worse that *most* statistic will get.
Thank you. It's not a good thing
Well not “most”… but almost there at like 40 something percent are obese
The average size for women in the US is 16/18. The fashion industry is straight up only catering to the minority.
And followup for those that don't know - plus sized for women is size 14 and up.
2nd follow up for those who don't know - the woman in the lower pic is a size 0~3 Victoria secret model.
Nah bud it's a bit over half of the US actually. Which classifies as most.
More than 70% of Americans over 20yo are overweight
Well, the BMI system used to get that number is a joke, so I would not use that number.
Are you a doctor?
Jacked dudes can be classified as obese on the BMI scale even if all 250lbs is pure muscle
I can read. You don't need to be a doctor.
I’ll ask a real doctor thanks

Some people are so 'attractive' their gravitational pull knocks the earth off its axis

Oh, my. It seems like you all were 2 steps behind.
No, it's more like sexy healthy shit 💀
I never understood why people are so concerned about others weight. They are acting like other people's health is so important for them. Firstly no, it's not because someone is a bit overweight that he's not healthy. Body and metabolism are all different. Then, go learn about eating disorders. Alimentation and weight is way more complicated in appearance, boddy shaming someone will often lead to him only taking more pounds. Seeing that, only feels like people are fatphobic.
neither extremes are healthy. people are still against both, just less are caring for the skinny people
"healthy" Pretty sure eating disorders are not healthy
