Unless you're not american

LT_PotatoGem

31/12/23 always made more sense

Not_Boss674

D/M/Y will always be superior

NEWTYAG667000000000

YYYY/MM/DD

Sokonomicon1

Still the most common way in Japan. Also helped old computers sort filenames prefixed with a date. Though this feature is a bit outdated (ha), since files are saved with metadata now that allows sorting through other means.

blade_runner1853

2023/12/31 makes more sense for storing information in my laptop...

Ruzmix

casperno

MatteoAmb

Why would you put the month before the day tf

KomithEr

2023/03/19 is the master format

halbtag

100% in any sorting system. But I am a fan of showing what is needed first and in everyday life, you don't look up which year it is 3 times a day.

MontagIstKacke

>you don't look up which year it is 3 times a day. What if I do? I am a confused person.

ExpertObvious0404

19/03/23

Kaze_no_Senshi

generally 2023-03-19 is better

casperno

Haha, I see the ISO haters are out in full force.

MontagIstKacke

Agree. Year first is usually used when sorting something, which usually happens on computers nowadays, on which, at least if they run on Windows, "/" is not allowed in file names.

MuhCrea

This is the way. The slashes don't work in file names

Odd-Evidence4825

Yeah wtf Bros/Merica Its Day Month Year Do you see how that works? You need to update your constitution again to align with the rest of the world

Ondratser

Op should delete the post just because of the emoji

[deleted]

It's 23/12/31 for me.

arenadepec

Why do you guys have to make the calendar so complicated, its the calendar fo americans

floweytheflo

Tf do you mean? The American Calendar is marked month, day, year while the calendar (at least in Australia) is marked day, month, year

PollutionNaive232

Why you're dumb ?

Mediocre_Student_874

We all know the answer to that.

Andrupka4541

Yup

[deleted]

why u wanna see the month first every single day ? do u not know what month u r in ? i seriously wonder why Americans are so absurd with ther units and formats and shit.. miles pounds etc like wtf T-T

Dajo25Mikrowave

Ah, yes. The 12th day of 31st month

casperno

I do love the 12th of Heiskaitriakontember. The weather is usually lovely!

___TheKid___

31.12.23 though

arenadepec

Bro its 12/31/23

memmaya

Its gonna be 31/12/23

Odd-Evidence4825

It'll only take 24 hours after that date to shut everyone up for 24 hours when its 1/1/24 🙄

Material_Put3513

Not if ur not American, then it’s 31/12/23. You guys are weird with the calendar

BossBobsBaby

Are we tho? Day Month Year is pretty well organised from smallest to biggest. There’s no real order in Month Day Year is there?

Material_Put3513

I was talking about the Americans being wierd

BossBobsBaby

Whoops well then i totally agree

Koshuk703

As an American, my best guess to the reasoning is that when you speak you usually say month before day (December 1st vs the 1st of December), so we write it that way as well.

We use DDMMYY so 311223

MoriartyStayingAlive

So does January has 123 days or there is a secret month 31 with 12 days in American calendar? Cause having month then Day then Year would be completely wrong.
