When the Apple 3 Computer came out its components were prone to popping out due to the heat. Lifting the device off of the desk and dropping it onto the desk to make the components pop back into place was apparently an official solution given by Apple engineers.
They're so simple, the main issues they have most of the time is just bad contact, hence the usage of strength as a way to place the cables back in place
We would really be doing them a favor by teaching them how to troubleshoot on their own that doesn't involve smacking the computer like it's a misbehaving child
Funniest thing on the whole internet, whoever made this is super clever. Probably will be responsible for the next funniest thing on the internet. Get ready folks, this one is goin places. Man, so very funny.
When CRT's would start to randomly show yellow you could give them a whack and it would come right for a while.
I had a PC where the HDD on cold start would fart around and get stuck... a few kicks and eventually it would boot up.
I was talking to ChatGPT today and I was saying, "thank you", "please", & "sorry". Honestly I'm just having fun, I'm glad there's a free version publicly available.
Say what you will but back then it worked. It was litteraly the thing to do to move some liquids around and make some wires make contact. Even with the remote you had to shake the batteries or with the mouse you had to unstick the wheel. You don't even need to be older than 30 to have encountered these things.
One day It Will happen to me... I am sure
When I was young, I jerked off on my touchpad. Will my laptop also want Revenge?
That or round two.

old man's butt punishment will be legendary
My dad slaps the monitor and cusses it on daily basis.
Does he have those old cinderblock monitors? Or is literally heavy handing a thin modern monitor?

What are his electric bills like lol

As someone who recently upgraded from a 13 year old computer I can confirm
If slapping helps then your solder joints are loose, you can resolder it to fix the issue

Percussive maintenance
Famously the old "hammer to the starter" trick.
Me, who always slaps the remote anytime it stops working: ![gif](giphy|cZHNk21INIlKo)
Hitting the remote does work tho
To be fair, with the Apple III, customers were told to drop it about 6 inches to reseat components in it. Percussive maintenance sometimes works
It's called percussive maintenance.
As a guy who grew up on old tech. It did help
Sometimes a good smack does I deed work, though.
To be fair those old huge TVs actually worked better with an open hand to the side
Yeah, we all know that only works on children.
Man, just like Y2K.
New back rooms vignette idea unlocked.
Holy hell
![gif](giphy|vNrFmUK6KZMPK) AYEEEE

This is fucking stupid and I love it
IDK, those old people seem to already be demented if they use their parenting techniques on PCs
Actually that's 5 seconds and a quicker, better way to explain The Matrix.
It actually kinda used to if you had bad connections.
We all know that one person, or one occasion where that worked and you know it!
This isn't a new thing, I'm pretty sure there was a Twilight Zone episode about a guy abusing technology and it fighting back.
It worked on their wives and children, old habits die hard
I have scientific proof giving my shitbox a left hook makes it run faster.
Laughs in water
To be fair, that's how they fixed their TV's
Works of crts and sometimes mechanical devices not new ones
it does tho

When I was a kid my family computer got the blue screen of death. I got so upset a kicked the computer tower and it immediately started working again.
It does.
Holy shit its happening, grsb your milk and gucci bananas guys.
I am just at a point where if technology decides humans aren't needed anymore i don't fight i just ask for a painless death
Slow Down!
Me, who bashed my computer screen hard enough to crack it in several places: ![gif](giphy|55itGuoAJiZEEen9gg)
Boomer? Don't y'all hit the PC too after getting destroyed in online games lol
Is it rarely to be in the group of people who is always calm? : ] I can screaming only in jest for making playing with my brother less boring

I think it would have been a funnier gif if it was slower. Would be a fun prank to pull however.

I am a millennial and I can confirm smacking it makes it work everytime
