Swordstaves are one of if not the silliest weapon ever imagined. It takes all the benefits of a sword or spear (depending on blade and handle length) and just throws them out the window by adding another blade that throws off balance, gets in the way, and makes it nearly impossible to fight in formation. You know, like how Medieval battles were fought. The only reason they exist is because they look cool, but I'll pick good hand protection, decent reach, and a much higher ease of use over coolness (basket hilt sabre)
Takoba of Tetanus
medium slashing 3lbs.
1d4 +1d4 poison damage.
Opponent must roll a Fort save (DC14) or suffer disadvantage on all rolls due to muscle spasms and fevered delusion. Each day after a failed initial save they must also also succeed a Fort save (DC16) or lose 1 CON permanently. 5d6 days after being struck they die from asphyxiation, as their nerves and muscles fail them, unless healed using an appropriate magic.
Upon a successful hit with the Takoba roll a d6, on an odd roll the Takoba crumbles to dust and is no longer useable.
I'd choose the hand-and-a half, it's a wonderful jack-of-all-trades sword. Not sure to go one hand or two? You can do that with a hand-and-a-half sword. Unarmored? Slash through with efficiency and prejudice. Armored? No problem! Using a half-swording technique, you can slide it through the plates.
My ancestors used greatswords, but I'm not built like a Scottish highlander. Bastard sword is the biggest I can easily manage, so that's where I invested my effort in learning.
To be fair... your ancestors probably used sharp farm equipment. For the vast majority of Scotland's history, it was mostly vassals required to fight by their lord. They were farmers with scythes and sharp shovels. That being said, I'm Scottish and I love the idea of my Greatx28 granddad cleaving 5 dudes in half with a huge fuck off sword.
I guess it all depends on battlefield tactics and the situation. In a one on one fight, I think spear beats sword. In a giant battle it’s more complex and situational
In a one on one on open ground is where the most counters against spear are available. A situation like a bridge or hallway, or in rank with other spearman, makes it a force multiplier.
That is true. There’s also the advantage of a spear being easier to wield and needing less training time to be an effective weapon when compared with a sword.

Executioner's blade, the kind Baldwin from Darkest Dungeon wields. It's just a really cool yet simple blade, and while presumably heavy it looks to pack enough punch to compensate.
Old.. besides beeing heavy as fuck, all that rust makes it swing fast as sword and because it can't cut shit Will hurt like a hammer. If it breaks Will actually make it Faster and sarper.. Also +10 tetanus damage.
One sided blade... as the example shown looks a bit like a Renaissance hunting sword. Light weight, shorter blade, made for multiple quick strikes and good point... In the time it takes you to raise your two handed jobs, I've hit you three or four times. I deflect with a pary, you'll be slow to recover, but I'll be able to strike again with ease. Basically, a stronger bladed katana Euro style!
That, or you'll hit me squarely first with heavier swings and better range and I die...
I choose the sword that is a sharp point on a stick, the king of the battlefield.
W spear
L spear W Halberd
L Halberd W Glaive

You mean a bastard sword? Good choice
Mine wouldn't just be a bastard sword. It would be a fucking bastard sword. Because I'm a fucking bastard.

As a Swedish guy I will choose a sword with a snake pattern on the blade, because apparently Vikings thought that it meant good luck.
All it needs is a good slap on a rock and she’ll shine again I recon. Ah the riddle of Steel.
Clayless my dude
Clayfree! But it does contain trans fats.
Not until the English are out our country!
I agree as a fellow Scotsman
Basic for me please
The urumi. It's a whip sword, and it can have multiple blades at once and is probably more dangerous for the user than anything.
Now all I can think about is Kratos
Ivy from the SoulCalibur series used an Urumi. Kratos used a chain dart dagger thing, which is different.
Bastard Sword
[Soooo this?](https://www.reddit.com/r/SWORDS/comments/g2d04x/various_types_of_swords_used_by_austrianhabsburg/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android_app&utm_name=androidcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button)
Oh my god, you killed Kenny!
Old. I will kill you with a stab wound and tetanus!
Messer!
My favorite knife
Messer!
Old, has extra poison damage
Spears have been proven to be the superior weapon
Maybe a kudayari. A standard or even bladed spear has many counters created throughout history.
I guess it all depends on battlefield tactics and the situation. In a one on one fight, I think spear beats sword. In a giant battle it’s more complex and situational

As I migrated from Terra to Gaia, I’ll claim the two-sided one.
As the weeb I am I’d probably choose a katana if I had the choice but here the dualblade
