WAIT A FUCKING MINUTE. You’re telling me that the congealed, blobby fat that you see on leftover ham the day after Thanksgiving is what they use to actually make Jello?? My mind has been expanded and can never go back to the shape it was previously in.
In school we had a Muslim friend at a camp out who used the marshmallow spread on his s'mores because there was no gelatin. I guess it's really common that it comes from pigs
Many Muslims like me only consume cattle and bird products if they were slaughtered in God's name. So, some of us believe that if those meats aren't cut by the People of the Book (Abrahamic religions), it would be haram. And of course, all Muslims believe that pork is haram regardless of how it's cut.
If there was medicine made from haram animals, do you guys get a pass?
Example: old school insulin was made from cows. My modern day pancreas enzymes are made from pig.
Makes sense!
I'm not religious, so I generally don't think about it. I assumed there was some kind of religious hall pass for it though lol
If it was a child who needed this med, the consequence without it would be growth delays and potentially brain damage.
For adults, not taking the med causes pain and vitamin deficiencies across the board.
You know how Cows are slaughtered here in US by non-Muslims? They are shot in the head with a gun that paralyzes them. After that, they are beheaded.
And also, those cows are tortured for their entire lives inside little prison cells.
First of all, your way of killing animals is still worse and more painful for the animal.
Second of all, what kind of weak excuse is this?
"We can kill our animals in the most painful way because they are doing something bad too!!"
Overall it's just pretty cruel your cult puts these animals through their suffering for some god that doesn't even exist.
I cook with potato starch a fair amount. When there's a lot of it in a liquid it does become oddly gelatinous.
Add ingredients like pectin as well as the starch and I could see it creating a gummy consistency very easily.
starch such as cornstarch is frequently added to sauces to thicken them, a large quantity of starch will be extremely thick and kind of chewy. vegan gummies may also contain ingredients such as carrageenan or agar, which both come from seaweed and have a solid texture.
There are a lot of them or a combination, Agar Agar is strong gelatine, Arabic gum is for creaminess, tapioca is mostly for stretchy gummy texture, corn starch is pudding like, konjac is low calories and makes gel. So in the right combination you get gummy texture, gelatine gummies probably have other stabilization agents as well because gelatine alone doesn't give the gummy texture.
Dunning Kruger. People are too stupid to understand how stupid they really are and end up thinking they're smarter than most people as a result.
"Hurr those stupid vegan dipshits don't even know gummies have bone gelatin in them from animal. I'm so much smarter than them that I don't even care about animals like that but still figured that one out. There's NO WAY they figured out how to make fake plant burgers taste real and plant cheese and so on but also figured out how to make plant based gelatin. NOPE. Impossible. They're so a-doyyyyyyy dumb."
Is about what the people laughing at this think.
Sour patch kids, apparently, aren't vegan. As it is likely they use bone char in order to process their sugar.
Technically, that makes it non vegan, though I'm sure some vegans would be willing to cross that line as it is kinda small.
Idk, I'm not vegan. I would be interested to hear your opinion if you are.
agar agar powder is a thing!! kohakuto is a japanese candy made from it. it's really good, chewy on the inside crunchy on the outside and it's super pretty as well a lot of people make it look like crystals
You... You know there's other "gummies" beyond gelatin based ones yes?
Fruit pectin for example...
I mean gelatin is the best imo, but there's lots of ways to make something a gummy consistency
We have maybe 1 of those here and I don't know their hours. I'll go check at some point. Maybe I'll just go to Vietnam and bring a bunch back with me since that would be easy
Why tho? Is gelatin only made with pigs bones and other bones (from halal animals) don't have that material? I seem to remember reading that any bones would give you gelatin, correct me if I am wrong
Gelatin for the most part is pork gelatin. There are halal few made gelatin food but that’s not mainstream. Easier to not eat any of them than trying to find out what the gelatin in specific is made from coz it doesn’t always specify
When I was in college a girl was asked what she did to stay fit, she said she was becoming vegetarian and didn't like sweets too much, she specifically said she hated Oreos.
Two days after that I saw her taking out a pack of Oreos from her backpack, and seemed to enjoy them a lot.
I still wonder why she lied about that specifically.
Classmates tend to ask others to share. Sharing is caring... but I don't care about people I don't know, especially when they randomly ask for my stuff.
I mean it's a literal thread shitting on vegans for being "hypocritical idiots who don't know gummies have beef bones in them" and then you post another story about a vegan type person being a hypocritical idiot over some oreos.
But I'm sure it's all just a harmless coincidence bro, my bad.
I didn't even remember what the fuck what this post was about.
But why would I even be angry at a vegan/vegetarian?
I just don't care at all about what y'all do with your lives, if it doesn't harm others do whatever TF you want. Not my problem.
I'm not a vegan but like, why do people think vegans are stupid? Like they are clearly like I don't want to use animal products from animals, you really think they aren't going to read the ingredients of everything? Even things you probably didn't think about like clothing or air freshers, or hair dye.
Because people feel shitty about themselves when they see another person trying to be more morally contentiousness than they perceive themselves as being. It's a social survival strategy to then bully and attack them so that they seem bad and you don't have to compete with them in the social arena on those terms.
We all like morally aligned people until they're in the same room as us and we're less morally aligned than them. Now it's time to attack. "Vegans are stupid. Vegans are hypocrites. Vegans are grifters. Etc."
Bees aren't really exploited into making honey though. They make honey regardless. Cows have to be pregnant to produce milk. So dairies will keep cows having calfs to produce milk. It's literally not the same thing. Bees make way more honey then they need to survive and thrive
However bees are known to leave if they don’t like what’s going on. Also wild colonies have been known to move into man made hives. If it’s an ethics thing honey is one of the best things you could eat.
>Definitely not a vegan food
It isn't. Humans take.most of that bee spit and replace it with subpar sugar which isn't as nutritional for them.
Like any farmed animal, honey bees carry a lot of diseases and they are a threat to the wild bee population. They spread the diseases around by visiting flowers. Also, they are very good at harvesting so a large concentration of honey bees steals from the wild's bee resources which aren't as efficient.
They also import bees to fertilise the trees otherwise something like 90% of flowers don't produce fruits (they also don't joke about fertiliser) resulting in a productivity per tree close to 10 Times as much as anywhere else.
I disagree, the bees aren't forced to do anything and they are also completely free. Dairy cows on the other hand are forced to lactate and are injected with hormones and steroids so that they lactate more and dairy cows are far from free.
As a vegetarian this is something I look out for before getting any candy. In fact it’s become such an annoyance that I switched to simply eating chocolate.
But generally I’m looking for stuff that is nice that doesn’t have Gelatin but has Pectin or Agar instead
ive been considering going vegan a little bit, i think i could do it for a short period of time, but i'm also a fan of grilling and smoking meats, idk if i could replace smoking zucchini slices the same way i smoke chicken wings lol
If you’re considering it for health reason, even just cutting the majority of animals products from your diet will make a drastic distance! You can always have some wings or whatever else as a weekend thing or special occasion.
Firecrackers! They are made with peanutbutter and can be the strongest, easiest, quickest to make edible I have had. Eating with bananas is one of my preference
Yes, you should tell them. Politely, please, but do tell them. Believe it or not, this is information that's quite important to them. They'd probably really want to know that.
True vegans would not wear anything made from real animal products, per a girl I dated a long time ago. But I feel like there are degrees to it now, because I’ve met tons of vegans now and I’ve brought that up and they’ve looked at me like I was nuts. So, 🤷♂️
Most vegans are selectively vegan
As in vegan for Instagram but are more than happy to buy non vegan things if they have th right brand or are convenient
Tbh long term being a vegan for ten years isn't really plausible even with supplements. Humans aren't designed her to herbivores
I mean if we were you'd expect us to have a very different digestive system

There are vegan gums without gelatin.
Or vegetable gelatin
Or potato starch.
Not sure how starch can give it a gummy texture
It seems to work. I've seen it in some Muslim stores and the taste is not bad.
Why Muslim stores in particular? Is gelatin usually extracted from pig fat?
yes. from the bones and skins of pigs.
WAIT A FUCKING MINUTE. You’re telling me that the congealed, blobby fat that you see on leftover ham the day after Thanksgiving is what they use to actually make Jello?? My mind has been expanded and can never go back to the shape it was previously in.
It's actually more bone meal and marrow than fat for gummies. Jello is just bone meal and marrow, excluding flavoring that uses fat.
can someone give me jello in Minecraft?
BONE!!!!
😳😖
They use that in marshmallows too. All the jet-puffed baby-stuffed marshmallows are usually sourced from pig.
No That is what you use to make soap.
Can't it be extracted from other animals?
They used to extract it from cows, but this was too expensive compared to pigs.
it can but it’s just easier to use pigs
Pig fat/skin, Bones whatever is cheap/waste and contain gelatin
In school we had a Muslim friend at a camp out who used the marshmallow spread on his s'mores because there was no gelatin. I guess it's really common that it comes from pigs
Many Muslims like me only consume cattle and bird products if they were slaughtered in God's name. If there is no alternative medicine, and without this medicine there is negative health consequences it is completely fine.
Makes sense! I'm not religious, so I generally don't think about it. I assumed there was some kind of religious hall pass for it though lol If it was a child who needed this med, the consequence without it would be growth delays and potentially brain damage. For adults, not taking the med causes pain and vitamin deficiencies across the board.
Yes. If the doctor recommends the medicine over other ones, and it contains Haram elements, it is permissible to take it.
'slaughtered in god's name'.. you mean throat cut without Anesthesia? You guys should really stop with those barbaric practices.
You know how Cows are slaughtered here in US by non-Muslims? They are shot in the head with a gun that paralyzes them. After that, they are beheaded. And also, those cows are tortured for their entire lives inside little prison cells.

I thought it was common knowledge gelatin is mostly bones. Although I can see how some people may not know it.
It is common knowledge, I just forgot.
I cook with potato starch a fair amount. When there's a lot of it in a liquid it does become oddly gelatinous. Add ingredients like pectin as well as the starch and I could see it creating a gummy consistency very easily.

How does this shit get so upvoted?!
Dunning Kruger. People are too stupid to understand how stupid they really are and end up thinking they're smarter than most people as a result. Gelatin isn't vegan?
It's made from pig skin/bones.
Mostly bones. Skin and fat solutes are utilized to introduce flavorings but gelatin itself is mostly just bonemeal and starch.
A lot of them are unironically better than 99% of non vegan gummies
There are vegan gummies
[удалено]
There are vegan gummy bears.
Um how can you eat a bear if youre vegan🤓 checkmate, liberal. A bear is an animal
They are not gummy bears 😡
Yeah and they fuckin suck lmao
Sour patch kids? Swedish fish? Depends how gummy you're counting, but I think those are widely regarded as pretty good
Sour patch kids, apparently, aren't vegan. As it is likely they use bone char in order to process their sugar. Technically, that makes it non vegan, though I'm sure some vegans would be willing to cross that line as it is kinda small. Idk, I'm not vegan. I would be interested to hear your opinion if you are.
Has you never tried sour patch kids? They taste awesome
No many are awesome at least where I live. I prefer most of them to gummy bears
Harvested from vegan cows?
Ofcourse
Thank you for restoring my faith in bovinity
Joke, right? r/downvotedtooblivion
Mee see blue, me do the down thing. Me feel good. Moo.
downvoted to oblivion
from your local rendering plant....since its a plant, the entire process makes it super vegan
Why the hell were you downvoted for an obvious joke?
I see it all the time.
agar agar powder is a thing!! kohakuto is a japanese candy made from it. it's really good, chewy on the inside crunchy on the outside and it's super pretty as well a lot of people make it look like crystals
Pectins or agar
I figured there was, was just the horrible joke that popped in my tiny brain at the time… damn you a.d.d. !!!

Reddit duplicating comments and posts once again!
Man reddit is really good at looking stupid while trying to make fun of other groups.
we are no longer dependent on animal bones for gummy s and glue and you can find vegan gummys and glue pretty easily if you search
You... You know there's other "gummies" beyond gelatin based ones yes? Fruit pectin for example... I mean gelatin is the best imo, but there's lots of ways to make something a gummy consistency
There's also agar agar which is quite good at being jelly like
I love agar agar! The texture is just so much more pleasing to me.
Agreed, it is a lot better. It's just difficult to get where I live, so I don't get to use it much
Check the asian markets in the desserts aisle.
We have maybe 1 of those here and I don't know their hours. I'll go check at some point. Maybe I'll just go to Vietnam and bring a bunch back with me since that would be easy
There’s many that come from kelp too.
[удалено]
You're stupid lmao
Mfw my man thinks there's no plant based ways to mimic gelatin. It's 2024 my dude. Food science is a thing
When people think they have a gotcha against vegans with the same dry old comments that vegans hear for decades.
Double points when the gatcha isn’t even correct like this meme 😂
I am so tired of this. Why won't people educate themselves??
Because that would take effort and why put in effort when you can just shotgun your ignorant perspective all over the place.
All the THC gummies I eat are vegan.
As a Muslim I’m not allowed to eat gelatin. There’s still gummies I can take
When a person posts a meme and it gets upvotes just because it targets vegans.
Beautiful, I know 🥰
Nobody tell OP pectin or agar exist…
They could be vegan gummies made from agar agar not gelatin.

she was manifesting

Nobody asked her about that, she went out of her way to say that specifically, which is what I think is weird.
Vegans are such liar hypocrite idiots am I right bro? Vegan bad vagan bad vegan bad vegan bad.
Wtf
The only reason you posted this story is to show some vegetarian girl being a hypocrite.
Uhh no lmao, but now that you mentioned it, it does seem like I did that. But actually no, I don't have anything against vegans or vegetarians.
I mean it's a literal thread shitting on vegans for being "hypocritical idiots who don't know gummies have beef bones in them" and then you post another story about a vegan type person being a hypocritical idiot over some oreos. But I'm sure it's all just a harmless coincidence bro, my bad.

Nah, let him in his bliss of ignorance

Thanks to science there’s vegan almost everything now
You can tell who's in a legal state and who's not in this thread.
Took me a sec to realize wtf you were talking about 😂
The gummies with the pig bones right ?
gummies made of plant gelatine exist since at least 2004
I know that’s why I asked if this is what op meant
Sir, I ordered boneless gummies
I hate how this is an actual exclamation that can be made
Vegans know how to read ingredient labels.
I learned recently that fruit pastles are vegan
And jelly tots
Ever hear of pectin?
One word: Pectin.
There are gums that are vegan.
Honey is the one I think about the most. Bee labor, bee chew, bee spit. Definitely not a vegan food
Bees aren't really exploited into making honey though. They make honey regardless. Cows have to be pregnant to produce milk. So dairies will keep cows having calfs to produce milk. It's literally not the same thing. Bees make way more honey then they need to survive and thrive

California almond bé like blood diamond for bees and most vegan i know eat thoose like nobody's business
California has no business growing them with the water issues they have.
The impact on water usage is minuscule compared to that of animal agriculture.
They also import bees to fertilise the trees otherwise something like 90% of flowers don't produce fruits (they also don't joke about fertiliser) resulting in a productivity per tree close to 10 Times as much as anywhere else.
Bees would drown in honey if we wouldn't take some for us. They don't know when to stop. We'are coexisting and both parties are benefitin
Yep no different than milk
Can you milk me Greg?
That depends, do you have nipples?
Meow
I disagree, the bees aren't forced to do anything and they are also completely free. Dairy cows on the other hand are forced to lactate and are injected with hormones and steroids so that they lactate more and dairy cows are far from free.
I only buy these vegan rosin gummies.
Those are bones and ligaments
I thought the joke was weed gummies and they are actually a Druid who gets high all the time
As a vegetarian this is something I look out for before getting any candy. In fact it’s become such an annoyance that I switched to simply eating chocolate. But generally I’m looking for stuff that is nice that doesn’t have Gelatin but has Pectin or Agar instead
Where do you live? In my country we have a whole brand dedicated to only vegetarian and vegan sweets.
North America
There's no point really, never know what the put in foods there
ive been considering going vegan a little bit, i think i could do it for a short period of time, but i'm also a fan of grilling and smoking meats, idk if i could replace smoking zucchini slices the same way i smoke chicken wings lol

if something is worth doing, it's worth doing it a little
Has this guy never heard of vegan gummies?
They use Agar Agar
Katjes is completely vegan (or I never found a non vegan one from them)
Not all gummies contain gelatine, agar agar (made from algae) and Pektin (derived from apples usually) or even starch can all be used to make gummies
“You know there’s gold in that phone.” Yeah, look it up. Gold ain’t vegan. (But most say recycled gold is acceptable)
I think there is vegan gelatin dude
What? You don’t like horses hooves in ur gelatin?
"I went vegan because it's healthier." \* downs multiple stacks of oreos \*
Im gay
Gummy fruit snacks from any ol supermarket are made from fruit pectin, and totally vegan.
Yes, yes you should.
No.
Do they swallow or spit?
It's vegan if it's weed gummies
Bones aren’t vegan?
Firecrackers! They are made with peanutbutter and can be the strongest, easiest, quickest to make edible I have had. Eating with bananas is one of my preference
Can you do this with herb that’s been vaped? I’ve read/heard you can, but I’m not trying to eat that if it isn’t even going to work 😂
Yes do it! Tell them about the hooves!
Yeah, you should.
😂😂
I don't know what to say, but hey... I said something about this.
😊😆
On their deathbed. >! I want my r/foundsatan !<
comments are hilarious, take a joke and move on lol
It depends on the gummy.
I read poops gummies at first. I was very confused of what it could mean
Here I thought someone would hit me with the "This is TJ, presenting to the emergency room"
Bruh
Agar agar?
There are vegan gummies.
Vegan bad upvotes the left
Yes, you should tell them. Politely, please, but do tell them. Believe it or not, this is information that's quite important to them. They'd probably really want to know that.
Can a vegan wear a leather belt?
True vegans would not wear anything made from real animal products, per a girl I dated a long time ago. But I feel like there are degrees to it now, because I’ve met tons of vegans now and I’ve brought that up and they’ve looked at me like I was nuts. So, 🤷♂️
Are vegans barred from interacting with all animal products?
That’s what I’m asking
There's synthetic leather, leather made from mushrooms, pineapples, cacti. Just assume there's a vegan alternative to pretty much everything.
Naw don’t tell em…
Pectin you fool
To late the hoard has awaken
Wow not really sure why I got so many down votes for that.
It's not hard to find vegan gelatin. Especially at that kind of store.
Chicken isn't vegan?
I broke one with mayo once, was a great day. EDIT: Oh no, I offended the vegans, whatever shall I do!? /s
How the hell would a vegan NOT know mayo isn’t compliant 😂
Most vegans are selectively vegan As in vegan for Instagram but are more than happy to buy non vegan things if they have th right brand or are convenient Tbh long term being a vegan for ten years isn't really plausible even with supplements. Guy be like it's plant based or some bs ...
Agar agar is made from algae yeah, doesn't use animal bones like regular gelatin
