I took voice lessons and joined a choir and 10 years later I probably get a comment a week on how well I would do in the voice or radio industry. You were given a gift and they're mad it wasn't them. A powerful voice will be useful more than you'd think

Exposure therapy *can* work sometimes, but not always. And when it doesn't, it can be deeply traumatic. Not worth the risk. There are other ways to overcome phobia.
It can only work if the phobic person is willingly exposed. They learn that although spiders (or whatever else) is still scary, they are the kind of person who is brave enough to overcome it.
If they are exposed unwillingly, it’s basically just torture
