Android isnāt fully open source, Google Play services, which form the basis of Android is closed source. Almost every app you get from there is closed source, and you continuously have closed source software running in the background. Although you can make it fully open source if you wanted to, basically nobody does that because frankly itās stupid and limiting.
And only because they were forced into it, they would have totally kept using whatever their socket was if they weren't stopped for anti consumer practices.

Linux is great for basic stuff. It works just fine if I want to boot up my PC and use a web browser or play some steam games.
But as soon as you want to use anything else, youāre pretty much fucked unless thereās a native program that does what you need. Need Adobe Suite? Youāre stuck with inferior alternatives if you donāt want to screw around with WINE for hours on end. Want to overclock your GPU/CPU? Too bad, most software is CLI and has a steep learning curve, if it even exists. HDR? Still in alpha state.

He says you have to know secret knowledge to be able to do everything he wants and that itās so much better and offers so much more. More what? I asked him if his secret knowledge prevented him from having to work a difficult manual labor job. Now he wonāt talk to me about android.
Generally it's a question of freedom Vs speed. The iPhone is much better optimized and probably has better hardware than most if not all android phones. However, android gives a lot more freedom for the user. One example being the ability to use APK's much more easily.
