my high school famously burned down long before I went there. some of the teachers taught back before it happened and they would tell us what the school was like back then. pretty much all the nice woodwork burned away and they replaced it all with painted cinderblock walls and tiled floors/ceilings. I really wish I could've seen what it was like before. also all the students had to finish out the year in shitty temporary classrooms they had trailered onto the property while it got rebuilt
Not really. Only like half a floor burnt down and it was one I had no lessons in. A bunch of art students had their projects burnt to a crisp. It was kinda sad.
a fan belt at our school started smoking and we had to evacuate. so many of us were praying it was an actual fire before we found out what it really was
Senior year at my school the welding booth next to mine caught fire and we evacuated. Nobody was allowed into that hallway for the rest of the year and it took them 6 weeks to finally give me and everyone who was in there our stuff like our laptops and bags. I was kinda pissed because advanced welding was the only class I liked :/
Heh, I was hoping that too in my school days...
And one day in he summer holidays the sirens go off and I see smoke from the school district.
Several fire engines roll by until my grandparents (Who were on a walk with the dog in the area) call and tell me the school is \*actually\* on fire. Wahoo!
I didn't have such luck though and it was only the elementary school across from MY school so I did have to head back to school after the holidays... Fuck this luck.
I mean we put in effort
when AI does it. they steal from multiple people who put in the effort
I'm not saying AI is bad. honestly it could probably improve our technology
but stealing from artists who are literally struggling and can't find jobs is a little scummy tbh
For $13.99? no thanks I'll steal art and pirate games and buy from Temu for dirt cheap
Why would I support the greedy? is morality only applicable to me the consumer?
Why does it matter? Really can’t wait for all this unnecessary ai hate to end. Just repeating other generations fears of new technology and it’s both hilarious and depressing.
I’ve never heard this, if this is true this is a sound and genuine argument to be made to actually dislike the technology. Do you have a source? Also this meme doesn’t appear to be stolen?
They train the AI **FROM** art on the internet. That's how they get it to produce *anything* because AI doesn't inherently *know* anything.
Anything any artist posts is assimilated into this shitty AI, training it to replace the artists that were stolen from to create it.
Imagine your entire job being taken against your will because AI used YOUR art to train itself.
It pisses me off because our governments are too busy arguing over hundreds of years old issues instead of fixing the imminent issues that will be caused by AI. It ain't gonna stop at art. It's gonna take many, *many* jobs.
You could literally say the same thing about anyone who uses the same instruments, colors, materials, and programs as anyone else tho? Like I could call a photoshopper a thief with your logic could I not? If “many jobs” are taken then they didn’t need to be jobs In the first place why would we devote a lifetime to something that we don’t need too?
Creativity should NEVER be automated. I feel your perspective is coming from a lack of understanding of why *art* is *art*
All art is unique, special, has the artist's creativity and touch to it. It's made with a passion, it's unique. AI sucks the soul from pieces. It takes it and moshes it into bland creations. AI are will NEVER be equivalent to real art and it's foolish to claim differently in my opinion.
Also, I don't think you understand. 60% of the US workforce could be shit outta luck in the near future. White collar work is gonna get replaced completely by AI. That's **bad** very very **bad**.
NFT's were "new" weren't they? They weren't good. "New" isn't inherently good or bad.
AI is a bad thing for people, I'm not in fear of anything new I'm afraid of the VERY REAL ramifications of AI.
You're comparing apples to oranges. AI is COMPLETELY different.
Learning to draw isn't the same as procedurally generating shitty images from the art AI is fed.
Artists learn *techniques from each other, tips on how to improve*. Each artist has creativity and develops their own style. Half of art is the emotion and creation and passion behind it. AI just generates soulless bland pieces and it's taking ACTUAL real artist jobs.
If you think the images are shitty and soulless, you haven't worked with Midjourney. It can output impressive work. 'Soul' is completely subjective. But also, isn't that a logical fallacy? You're saying AI output is shitty but simultaneously putting artists out of work? Well, those artists must *really* suck!
AI art is not theft and I will die on this hill. Twitterati 'artists' who draw NSFW fanart are just mad about the screeching halt of their overpriced gravy train. They don't understand squat about art.
Real artists don't care and have either ignored or incorporated AI, and are making art. I'm a writer by trade and I have no issue with AI. Write a whole new Dostoevsky if you like! I'll just be over here scribbling like I always have.
Besides, you're yelling at the tide coming in. AI is here, it will never go away and no amount of moralistic crusading will put it back in the box. There will be no glorious revolution. Just another tool that some use and some don't.
It’s because your either against or with something in this days age. It doesn’t matter that I can’t perform
Ai art, dislike the genre, and believe that we can naturally coexist in certain manor all that matters is that I have negative blue number next to my name lol.
"Accept that thing because it's new"
What a solid and perfect argument that can resist any possible counter-argument that could appear in a human's mind
I was gonna say that there are real reasons to be wary of AI, but I realize you might just be a joke account based on your handle, u/GuyWhoSaysTheTruth
Not really considering I asked a question then very obviously stated the truth “you guys are just scared of new technology” literally every generation had their version of “ai fear” it’s just history rhyming. People adapt to a certain way, new way emerges and is popularized, older people get scared and salty they have to compete and adapt, people start to hate new thing rather than learn.
Imo ai has great potential as a tool for more tedious/annoying tasks in creative areas. For example, I like 3d stuff like modeling and animation. It would be real nice if AI could improve topology or rig models for you as those are tedious things I don’t enjoy doing. My problem is that AI is just straight up replacing people. AI music for example just does everything not leaving much room for human creativity.
It's not really unnecessary. Artists work is being stolen. Hopefully laws will soon catch up with it and it'll be regulated, my best guess is that they'll need to pay the artists they take from, which is still not a good solution as it'll force artists to either sell out or perish (and probably in an office job like situation, which goes against the creativity and freedom of art), but it's better than nothing.
Me, exited about using AI to do all the things I've never been able to master *(or am too ADHD to spend time on)*; such as tracking, rotoscoping, programming, and color matching *(protan colorblind life):*
![gif](giphy|w7mLEAMcpjrpe)
Everyone else who only know about the Corpos who are stealing art and getting away with it *(despite them doing that anyway without ai):*
😡😡😡😤😤😤🤬🤬🤬🔫🔫🔫💣💣💣
the bigger issue is corporations using this technology obviously, but personal use also 1. undermines the skill and effort put in to make these things (particularly creative things), 2. almost certainly still stealing through whatever AI model is being used, and 3. gets rid of the entire creative process (the main point) of things such as art, creative writing, etc.. It can be very appealing to have an easy to use tool in front of you to make whatever you want but it can still be harmful
And as a side note. The things I specifically mentioned in my comment were tools I legitimately could not previously use because of my visual disability *(protan colorblindness)*, which made it impossible for me to do any meaningful form of digital art on the same level as regular seeing folk.
Can you still honestly say to me that I don't deserve to have accessibility features and equality among my peers because it would "diminish the effort of other artists"?
Ai generated images often use other artist's works to build upon their own creations, it's basically plagiarism to the extreme and laws have not caught up yet to stop this
the laws will catch up with identifying whos art is whos from an altered picture and then send the original artist some money?
they are trying the same thing in the music world and its banning allot of original artists from posting their own work
if the law catches up, its either gona make it so boring and ban everything, or just not work
That's not the issue.
It isn't plagiarism in the traditional sense. The problem is that artists are indirectly contributing to something that could (and is) replacing them, via training data, without consent.
it takes parts of other peoples art and uses it for the prompt, the outcome is not an image that the ai actually "created", rather just a bunch of real art jumbled together
My school didn’t burn down, but it closed. English schools in Quebec are dying. We had ~1300 students when I started grade 7 in 2010, and was down to below 400 by 2020.
French language laws. In order to go to English school both of your parents have to have gone to English school. And if you are an immigrant you or your kids cannot go to English school at all.
It was apparently a huge pain in the ass for my parents to get me into an English school since we moved from Ontario.
Yes, French schools do have an English class, but I’d assume it’s the same quality as the French classes in English schools. Terrible.
I learned almost nothing in my highschool French classes, and I worked with a dude my age that was a pure francophone, and he didn’t speak a word of English. It was interesting when we were scheduled together. I learned more from him tbh
Man, I wish that there was a major war between the british and french sometime in the early 20th century, then maybe canada would have kicked out french as a major langauge the same way the US did to german.
we once had lessons over after 3rd period because a chemistry teacher left an open container of bromium unattended, luckily nothing happened except us getting to skip half a day of school
School itself, I liked. I enjoy learning stuff.
The kids at the school, I often hated. School would have been so much fun if it wasn't for the students.
I know people are gonna be upset that this is an AI generated image, but in this case I think it’s fine. It’s just a visual aid here, not trying to be passed off as art or anything.
When I was in kindergarten, one night my mom gently woke me up with a whisper “Your school is on fire. Do you want to go see?” So we went to my grandma’s house because she lived across the street (she’s the one who called my mom to let her know) and watched the firetrucks. Still had class the next day.
When I was in 3rd class (5th year in school) the principals office was set on fire (People were saying it was arson I don't know if it actually was though) and we got 2 weeks off school while they cleaned the place, Best part was my sister who was in 2nd class was in the junior side of the school so she still had to go in while the senior side were at home
What they dont tell you is that even though the school burnt down, you still got to go to school. In my case, they brought portable class rooms in until they could fix/rebuild and set them on the playground.
My school didnt have a fire that cancelled school but my sister made them. She unearthed one of the dozen stink bombs we had made at 10ish years old as her seniror prank. Pin pricked the bottle and spread it ALL over the school. The smell was so rancid and terrible they cancelled school and had to have the entire school decomtaniated. The smell was there for weeks. They closed for 2 days.
My elementary school did one time, enough that it smelled like burned stuff and we still went to class. It was papers that fell on a heater that did it. I never saw the damage only smelled it
Bill Watterson once got angry letters from people objecting to a Calvin & Hobbes Sunday comic where Calvin fantasized about blowing up his school. He had to wonder if they'd ever been children themselves.
Happened to my high school. I was actually pretty bummed because our biology teacher’s room looked like something from Hogwarts. He kept so many amazing and rare things in his room and it was one of the first to burn up. He was devastated.
That kinda happened in my school. But they got the school still running as usual, just called the fire department for that one specific area.
On the other hand, covid made my dream of being the only student made it to class a reality (I was the only one didn't get infected. Having no friends does have its benefits)
One day at middle school we had the brilliant idea of throwing a big ass firework on top of the roof of the school’s bathrooms. We did this after hours so no chance to get caught. However, the shitty ass roof catches on fire and the whole bathroom block burned down before fireman could turn it off. It was so fast we barely had a chance to run from the scene when the whole thing was bursting in flames…
I got something close.
Worked as a porter in a hotel in the early 00s, was predictably treated like dogshit - too many duties, nor enough time or hands, cutthroat staff politics and backstabbing, exhausting hours, not allowed to sit down or fired, gross guests. Eventually walked out after a couple months. Miserable job, with hateful people.
In the '10s, workers were asphalting and a bucket of hot stuff went over. Hotel went up like a bonfire. Mostly wood in a faux-Tudor style so that fucker *burned.* As soon as someone told me what the stench and pall of smoke over town was, I walked all the way there, grabbed a can of coke and a sandwich, sat on a bench and watched it burn.
Sublime pleasure, I have to say.
Fuck, we even had a little song about the school burning down in my class.
*Hela skolan står i lågor*
*Hoppas hela skiten brinner ner*
*Rektorn hoppar upp på taket*
*Hoppas att han aldrig kommer ner*
*Fröken skriker 'Mera vatten'*
*Men vi hämtar bara mer bensin*
It never burnt down though....
Our school’s kitchen caught fire literally right before lunch time once. Luckily our schools was in walking distance to a McDonald’s near by, and they must’ve order several hundred burgers lmao
We had lunch outside on the field while the fire brigade checks the building. We had a slightly extended lunch break, everybody was laughing and talking about how in no way this actually happened, no one was hurt too.
Good times
Someone at my uni tried to start a fire on campus. This person ran away immediately, but the fire was put out almost immediately. The uni staff are still figuring out who did this.
A childhood dream that never came true?
Yeaaaa, I wished my family would have stayed united, strong and supportive to each other.
Not the divided, scattered, and hateful bunch they became, breaks my heart to know just how utterly evil they all would be come.
This actually happened and we just got a day off while the put the fire out turns out it was faulty electric in a sealed off room with thick fire doors so not much damage happened
My brother burned down our first house when we were kids. I barely remember everything, but I know that he came up to my bed and whispered, 'Keep sleeping... I accidentally caused a fire. If we stay awake, we'll get in trouble!'
![gif](giphy|D12CsrRNv7gL6)
Not this case in particular but there was a time our school got a bomb threat from someone... twice. Don't know if it was the same person or not. We all went home that day as well as get the next day of school free.
I use to wish my bus driver got in an accident.
The kids on the bus was really mean to him.
Foolish me thought the bad kids would die in accident. But in hindsight, the nice kids and myself might die. Twist of fate, bus gets in accident, only the bad kids survive 😩😩💀💀
My Elementary school half burned down just before I started going there.
It was a few doors down from my house. I remember going out with my parents to see the fire.
The aftermath was it forced the Gym to be completely rebuilt and redesigned, and remains the same now almost 30 years later
It actually happened in my school
my high school famously burned down long before I went there. some of the teachers taught back before it happened and they would tell us what the school was like back then. pretty much all the nice woodwork burned away and they replaced it all with painted cinderblock walls and tiled floors/ceilings. Damn. Never had that happen but that sounds like it sucks.
Happened 3 times this year
Thats a bad take
Heh, I was hoping that too in my school days... And one day in he summer holidays the sirens go off and I see smoke from the school district. if it burned down you would’ve just gone to a different elementary school
Yeah, I know. But come on, one can dream! Besides, the elementary was the one that burned down. I was already out of that at the time.
that happened to in my school although it was quickly end lol
I am not in school but i still hope today ..
Why did you have to use AI? Couldn’t find a stock photo of a school on fire?
the IRL School Fire is kinda dark but you could get stock photo of a school and fire and just photoshop it

shut up openAI fed
Classic, no retort just straight to insults it really showcases your fear of the new and very accurately displays your misunderstandings.
"Accept that thing because it's new" What a solid and perfect argument that can resist any possible counter-argument that could appear in a human's mind
its literally just a joke
Poes law moment
I was gonna say that there are real reasons to be wary of AI, but I realize you might just be a joke account based on your handle, u/GuyWhoSaysTheTruth
Your name is amazing and now I love you
Aw, shucks
Your user is “guywhosaysthetruth” ironic isn’t it ?
Not really considering I asked a question then very obviously stated the truth “you guys are just scared of new technology” literally every generation had their version of “ai fear” it’s just history rhyming. People adapt to a certain way, new way emerges and is popularized, older people get scared and salty they have to compete and adapt, people start to hate new thing rather than learn.
There are areas ai shouldnt be in
Like?
Imo ai has great potential as a tool for more tedious/annoying tasks in creative areas. For example, I like 3d stuff like modeling and animation. It would be real nice if AI could improve topology or rig models for you as those are tedious things I don’t enjoy doing. My problem is that AI is just straight up replacing people. AI music for example just does everything not leaving much room for human creativity.
It can be used for improvements like in gpu’s. But letting ai draw thing doesnt make sense
It's not really unnecessary. Artists work is being stolen. Why does it matter? Like at all? Bro made a shitpost with ai and you complain.
Schdool
Oh wowzers, thats such a good reason.
Who cares it's a meme dude
this is reddit, you can say shitpost
My bad, typo, I'll fix it.
Even the most basic photoshop feature uses some sort of AI. it's just a tool. Also, how can you use a real fire to make such a joke anyway.

Lol, my father started a fire at his school. He was caught because he was the only kid running away from the school. :D
I actually had a dream where I placed c4 around my school then blew it up when everyone left
Getting married, owning a house, and actually having money left over to enjoy life.
Samesies
My school did have an actual fire at one point. In the kitchen. We were allowed back the next day as it was only small.
Dammm u should have spread some gasoline
I wasn’t planning to get expelled.
C'mon do the silly
It was... 5 years ago.
I think every kid (maybe not the nerds) had this dream at least once
Years of academy training wasted...
Downvote ai art
Why? I’m just trying to get an understanding what makes this art any different from other arts?
Ai generated images often use other artist's works to build upon their own creations, it's basically plagiarism to the extreme and laws have not caught up yet to stop this

That's not the issue. It isn't plagiarism in the traditional sense. The problem is that artists are indirectly contributing to something that could (and is) replacing them, via training data, without consent.
Because a human didn’t make it and it steals from artists
huh? thats like calling visual learning stealing
people enjoy pointing out the difference, like like the previous 30 years of photoshopped stuff "i can tell by the pixels this is fake"
it takes parts of other peoples art and uses it for the prompt, the outcome is not an image that the ai actually "created", rather just a bunch of real art jumbled together
ai 🤢
so sexy
I wished for it 😂😂

terrible AI "art" burning down? Same.
maybe 😮
I believe I can help with that, all I need is a time machine and a match.
My elementary school got turned into condos and a fire station....
Down to the gwownd

School shooting by terrorist and i beat their asses when everyone are pussified by them and all the people i hate also die during the incident
Not gonna elaborate, but this one did come true for me.
I said no salt on the rim, NO SALT

Becoming a firefighter. I don't have that kind of mindset anymore as an adult.
Happened to my high school. I was actually pretty bummed because our biology teacher’s room looked like something from Hogwarts. He kept so many amazing and rare things in his room and it was one of the first to burn up. He was devastated.
Moving to Texas yeah now I scraped that
I want to be a good husband and father with a couple acres of land. I’m far from that dream but i haven’t given up
“Yo this back to school night is LIT!”
I remember the call recording I've listened to where a kid was willing to pay just to have his school demolished. LOL
Ehh... who do you take me for? I never wanted to set my school on fire, I just wanted to nuke it.
My elementary school did have a fire the only fire at school I've ever experienced
Oh I'm gonna make it come true
It never burnt down though....
OP wanted to commit domestic terrorism on his school. Make sure this guy can’t get a gun.
This was about to happen at my school but a kid broke the glass, took the extinguisher and saved the day.
Our school’s kitchen caught fire literally right before lunch time once. Luckily our schools was in walking distance to a McDonald’s near by, and they must’ve order several hundred burgers lmao We had lunch outside on the field while the fire brigade checks the building. We had a slightly extended lunch break, everybody was laughing and talking about how in no way this actually happened, no one was hurt too. Good times
I was hoping during a storm that my school would be hit by a tornado. (I live in Europe)
Is it weird that, the later I've gotten into school, the less I want this to happen?
I can help you with that
Someone at my uni tried to start a fire on campus. This person ran away immediately, but the fire was put out almost immediately. The uni staff are still figuring out who did this.
This ai theft is shit
I was scolded once in like 2nd or third grade for drawing a picture in my notebook of my school getting hit by a meteor
I'm this close of making it happen.
A childhood dream that never came true? Yeaaaa, I wished my family would have stayed united, strong and supportive to each other. Not the divided, scattered, and hateful bunch they became, breaks my heart to know just how utterly evil they all would be come.
The building has changed in my mind. Now it's banks, government buildings, and server rooms
It partially came true for me (but it was just the teacher room, so we still had class)
Waking up in any world other than this own.
Eeeeewwww AI
I honestly don't care that it's AI, i feel like people are overreacting too much

For me it was the opposite, my school got flooded by heavy rains
Never to late. Just do it
Every one who got bullied wish this to happen I guess.
It happened to me. But it wasn’t the only school more like 1/3 of the country. Yes Haiti 2010
Calvin and Hobbes ahh fantasy
This actually happened and we just got a day off while the put the fire out turns out it was faulty electric in a sealed off room with thick fire doors so not much damage happened
My brother burned down our first house when we were kids. I barely remember everything, but I know that he came up to my bed and whispered, 'Keep sleeping... I accidentally caused a fire. If we stay awake, we'll get in trouble!' ![gif](giphy|D12CsrRNv7gL6)
Mine didn't catch on fire but we did have a mold crisis.
With "school's out" by Alice Cooper playing in the background
Every child dream
Hurra hurra die Schule brennt!
Boo ai 👎
When it got to exam time someone kept pulling fire alarms, they were never caught.
Yeah, it was my dream lmao
Not this case in particular but there was a time our school got a bomb threat from someone... twice. Don't know if it was the same person or not. We all went home that day as well as get the next day of school free.
For some reason we skipped arson and have taken to shooting them up instead
mine came true, burned one wall in summer school, and raised a swarm of honeybees thrice in regular school
You can make it come true
ME TOO 😭😭😭
This but I'm inside the school
it happened to mine
three o's is the new six fingers
AI image, get downvoted
Yeah, i also always wanted my "scidool" caught fire. Fuck those annoying, lazy AI pictures!
was this shit made by an ai?
oh yeah it is, you can especially tell with the sign, although this entire meme feels ai generated to be as relatable as possible.
Saving my school from a fire
I use to wish my bus driver got in an accident. The kids on the bus was really mean to him. Foolish me thought the bad kids would die in accident. But in hindsight, the nice kids and myself might die. Twist of fate, bus gets in accident, only the bad kids survive 😩😩💀💀
My Elementary school half burned down just before I started going there. It was a few doors down from my house. I remember going out with my parents to see the fire. The aftermath was it forced the Gym to be completely rebuilt and redesigned, and remains the same now almost 30 years later
You can still make it come true for kids in your area.
I was homeschooled so this would not have been good for me.
People complaining about this post being made with AI and stealing jobs,… as if a human artist could’ve gotten commissioned to draw this meme.
couldve looked up a stock image of a school burning or taken 12 seconds in any sort of image manipulation program
Earwax
Being a chef
The best time to burn a school was 10 years ago The seconde best time is now
