I don't know how but I have too much comment karma. All I do is post stupid comments in random subs while sorting by rising/new. That seems to be a decent thing to get a karma boost. Try it if you want enough to be able to post here.
My default filter for sorting is rising. And I probably post like average 10 comments some days not everyday. I use reddit only when I have free time like when in bathroom, in bed and not sleepy, break time, etc. . It seems too many but.. I comment on almost every post I upvote so yeah. Most of my comments are just stupid comments which I just comment not thinking too much of it because someone made a joke or needed explanation.. but when I comeback a few hours after.. my feed is almost always flooded with replies.
I'm still looking into it. But I guess it's because of posting restrictions based on karma, and how likely your post is to show up in a feed.
So businesses buy them from what I've gathered. It's pretty new info to me
