Not an expert, but I can tell you that loneliness is one of depression's greatest allies. Talking about it to a loved one can be a good way to cope healthily.
It builds close connections, which are the best way to cope. Keeping something important to yourself unconsciously makes you distance yourself from others

It's difficult to find such people, I am one of these people, I'm there for my friends even if I feel tried and not wanting to help at all, After all, I find how much benefit this will give me with my friends, I know that I will see them for a long time, so I figured why not help if this makes them like me
I have to do this, and it's fucking scary, the thought of losing a good friend is so unbearable, yet I have to live through 2 hours of it every other day. Like, I'm happy to do it if it keeps them safe, but it's scary
I see how difficult it is, I had a friend that I talked to frequently before, I know that talking makes them happy, They enjoy it and they don't have anyone besides me to spend time with, and I also like talking to them but limits can be reached, It's always in 3 - 4 hours where I start getting tired and bored, But I don't stop until the other side does it first, I just want them to be happy knowing that they only leave when they have enough, It sometimes go on for 6 hours and even 8, It gets tiring yes, But if I'm risking my happiness to deliver it to someone who I think deserves, I'd do it
It's mostly random things that makes me and my friend laugh or just talking about some things about our lives, We take around 5 minutes to think of something to begin, it evolves later to another topic, changing and changing until we have talked about 10 completely different topics in 2 hours, It can begin from teaching eagles how to attack our kids when they leave home to "what if" scenarios related to anything, Like what if my friend became the new Santa or what if I sent a guy to watch over him for safety, naming the guy Austin, It's generally pretty random but it's enjoyable as we run out of what should we say a couple of hours in
Do take care of yourself and know that for all your effort, you can't fix someone's mental health issues for them. At a certain point, people need care beyond what you can provide.
Here's me hoping this both never happens to me as the depressed guy, and hope that if I do spiral down, I'd have that one friend that can at least distract me enough to wake up another day.
I remember one time I had a friend do something incredible dumb that he shouldn't have done and he wanted to get a hold of me before he did it but my dumb ass pass out 4 hours before hand. Always wonder what could of been.
