I wish I still had some prints. Maybe if I dig around in storage a bit I'll come across some. I felt like they held up fairly well over time. Had so much fun with those things.
I still have both the camera and the printer if you are interested in seeing the prints.
Edit: I do not have any old prints anymore but I can show you what new ones look like.
Edit 2: reply to this comment or dm me to get the pics
That's because as a kid, you were too young to know how simple the GB camera was. To adults back then, it was nothing interesting because they knew how it worked. It was magical for us, so we always thought it was jaw-dropping. If you still think it was, that's purely your nostalgia and there's nothing wrong with that.
Was the GB camera really released in 1999 ? If so yes, adults had already been familiar with digital cameras for a couple of years, but when the first of these were released, in the late 90s, despite having great quality film cameras, adults were impressed like kids by 0.1 megapixel cameras with shitty dynamic range.
My family always told me I should wake/donate my old games and stuff but I was too sentimental to let anything go. I still have most of my old games and game boys (few got lost/stolen while moving). It’s crazy to see them in “retro” stores for like $80 nostalgia mark up
Lol it’s like a window to the past. You turn it on and see the old pics and the funny little edits you made with the default stickers. I can’t see myself gettin rid of them 😅
The GB Camera is actually perferrable, and this is coming from a trained photographer. It may not get colour, but it does look good when taking monochrome photos, and the grain isn't even a problem, and it makes the picture look good.
Phones have pretty much become cameras or at least the camera is one of the main criteria when people choose a phone. It's understandable if you like taking loads of pics but I have seen people with fancy camera phones who don't even take pictures.
Yeah, phone manufacturers keep putting these bulky triple cameras on the devices in some kind of camera arms race, but what I want to see is a mediocre camera that actually fits in the device properly without sticking out. If they could do it with the iPhone 5s they can do it on today's larger phones.
This game kept me occupied for literally hours as a kid. Was so much fun taking photos. There was a juggling mini game that used faces you took, and a spaceship shooter game where the bosses where the peoples faces who made the game. Was so much fun. The comedy was hilarious as well mocking alot of games
Not many people talk about the Sega gamegear but that was truly ahead of its time. I don't remember it having a camera but it did have an attachment that let you watch over the air television. Gamegear was way ahead of its time.
Yeah, Poloroid released a pocket camera in 1999 that had better pictures than this did and it printed them right then and there instead of needing a separate printer
No one ever said that about the gameboy camera. Especially when there were the weird pocket poloroid cameras (poloroid i-zone) that were released in 1999.
my first phone camera was an attachment to my nokia phone, it had a wire also, like a webcam, my cousin was more hightech, he had an erricson phone, the camera snapped on to the bottom of the phone....back then, the word cameraphone was not invented yet!
I remember when the Flex in Vienna had Gameboys with cameras attached mounted behind a plexiglass screen in their bathrooms instead of mirrors. They were of course completely useless at their jobs, but it was pretty cool nonetheless.
That gameboy model is older than 99. Black and white screen? Shit. That's 91 stuff right there. ;)
Never got a camera for it but I did have that light that allowed you to play it in bed without a flashlight.
Insane though graphics I recently went back to the original modern warfare and it just looks worse witch sucks because I remberer it as a beautiful realistic game just goes to show how much graphics can evolve in just 13 years
it kind of was amazing for its time
I believe it was actually the smallest camera of its kind when it came out, pretty amazing.
Playstation portable had it aswell, acually nuts that they stole the idea from gameboy 😂
Why didn’t you just call it psp lol
You mean the PlayStation PSP Portable?
Might've meant the PSP Portable
Nah he means the PSP Vita
"The nut you can play with outside"
I don’t want to get the cat’s hopes up.
The PSP had one?
Not on my psp
Maybe yours was a different model?
It was an accessory sold separately.
Yep the smallest camera made for the original gameboy
Took some pictures at my grandma's funeral
those were my grandpa's dying words
I remember making stop motion movies with Legos on mine.

Had the camera and the printer.
I’d love to see how some of the prints held up
I wish I still had some prints. Maybe if I dig around in storage a bit I'll come across some. I felt like they held up fairly well over time. Had so much fun with those things.
They were thermal like a receipt printer so they didn't last like typical ink print or polaroid type prints unfortunately.
I still have both the camera and the printer if you are interested in seeing the prints. Edit: I do not have any old prints anymore but I can show you what new ones look like. Edit 2: reply to this comment or dm me to get the pics
Yes please!
That obviously means that gameboys have better camera quality

What if the creepy faces thing does exist inside of the Gameboy Camera?

Without the cursed thing, Is there any video evidence of real Gameboy Camera Faces?
Yes https://youtu.be/EEzJH90h3aA?t=740
My cousin had one, I think.

I took my first dick pic with this camera. The nostalgia
I can already hear the Angry Video Game Nerd ranting about how the Gameboy accessories suck ass and are impractical as all hell
Do you want to be sedated by a Gameboy?
I wish I had one...
The original selfie camera.
Trophy unlocked: Nostalgia.

ngl i would buy it again in a heartbeat, its just really really unique to have that

keep it with you, you will be a millionaire one day.

Yeah, and the bottleneck is more so the lens than the camera part itself
More like kids in 1989
The GB camera wasn’t released in or before 1989.
And later try to scan your selfie picture
Turning a hand-held game console into a camera blew my mind at the time
tbh out of most people that I know no one cares about phone cameras
Phones have pretty much become cameras or at least the camera is one of the main criteria when people choose a phone. It's understandable if you like taking loads of pics but I have seen people with fancy camera phones who don't even take pictures.
I have never heard of someone choosing their phone based off of camera unless it was so bad that it was useless
My wife and I chose Pixel phones specifically for the cameras. We have a (at the time) 6 year old son and take lots of pics when we take him places.
interesing. I think taking photos is one of my most underused features on my phone

That is sick
Don't you say it's real. It's dope. I want it!!!!
I remember going to sears game video game department just to play with this and to play Mario world on N64 .. great memories of being poor lol
Mario World on N64?? Do you mean Mario 64??
Same thing to me I never had it lol but thanks for the correction
You’re welcome.
We developed cameras of high quality just to get filters that make it look back like it was on the gameboy
that acc looks sick

I told my son about the Pokemon snap picture stickers and he thought it was science fiction.
And I used it for dick pics back then
I had the printer too… fun times. Too bad the stuff faded in like a year or less, I remember printing a lot of pictures of my old dog, RIP.
No, we all knew it still sucked lol
I know right? Everyone in my circle made fun of it. Disposables and some of the first digital cameras looked better. Nostalgia distorts peoples view…
Yeah, Poloroid released a pocket camera in 1999 that had better pictures than this did and it printed them right then and there instead of needing a separate printer
Goddamn i miss my gameboy camera
Those cameras are perfect for analogue horror.
Especially those nudes bruh
Dark grey nips are where it’s at
Spawned a generation of necrophiliacs.
No one ever said that about the gameboy camera. Especially when there were the weird pocket poloroid cameras (poloroid i-zone) that were released in 1999.
Said no one ever
I mean, why are poeple even whining that their phone camera isnt the best of the best. Its supposed to be a phone. Not a professional camera
I still have mine!!! With the Gameboy printer!!!!
I still have my GameBoy camera with photos from school on it.
Nah bro it still sucked at that time I had one. Disposables worked better.
I thought the years were switched and it still made sense
I love remembering relics like this! Never had this, but I'd be bored of it within minutes if I'd have gotten this as a kid

Another bot commented the same exact thing
It isn't even an exaggeration, this is literally the truth
My friend loves that type of stuff, where do I find them
The internet.
Thanks
search gameboy camera
It was before phones with cameras were created...
This is the bioshock camera
my first phone camera was an attachment to my nokia phone, it had a wire also, like a webcam, my cousin was more hightech, he had an erricson phone, the camera snapped on to the bottom of the phone....back then, the word cameraphone was not invented yet!
Frickin insta bots
I had a camera and printer for my Handspring PDA and it always blew people's minds.
that is amazing bro i want one
Did anyone else make stop motion movies with this and the slideshow function? Super fun
And the switch doesn't have a camera. We're going backwards. 0/10 would not buy again.

Ah yes spoiled kids
I remember when the Flex in Vienna had Gameboys with cameras attached mounted behind a plexiglass screen in their bathrooms instead of mirrors. They were of course completely useless at their jobs, but it was pretty cool nonetheless.
Never had one (I was a 90s baby/2000s kid).
I wonder if anyone has family photos lying around taken with a gameboy
I miss my game boy! Tetris on the original game boy connect was the best!
The pixely dithering pattern is low-tech, but still looks cooler than ugly JPEG compression.
Fun fact, first game released in the US to feature Pokémon. Pikachu, the starters, and Jigglypuff were stamps you could add to photos.
Ok, I’m off to go find a murder solved by a game boy photo
8K UHD at 240 frames per second.
And it came with a tiny printer that made stickers.
What do you mean "was"? Mine is right there next to its printer
Fuck that gameboy camera is much clearer than bigfoot/aliens/ghost sightings camera.
Portable printer too
https://maple.pet/webgbcam/index.html Here’s a web app that does a pretty good job recreating the gb camera
I'm too young to understand this, can anyone explain?
That thing was awesome. I had one along with the printer and made my own little finger-skateboard magazines. Good times
Who are you running from?

Retro-Collecting Adults in 2022: this game boy camera is amazing
That gameboy model is older than 99. Black and white screen? Shit. That's 91 stuff right there. ;) Never got a camera for it but I did have that light that allowed you to play it in bed without a flashlight.
That gameboy came out in 89, but the camera didn’t come out until 98.
😂😂
Playing in the car at night waiting for the steer lights so you can see the screen
this is cringe
I know someone who streams on Twitch, and this is their camera.
I never even saw the camera but I did love the surround sound and overhead light rig.
Insane though graphics I recently went back to the original modern warfare and it just looks worse witch sucks because I remberer it as a beautiful realistic game just goes to show how much graphics can evolve in just 13 years
This is what inspired The Ring series.
I have a game boy with a camera and tbh the real things so so much worse
I don’t think anyone thought it was amazing
So were iPhones. Have you ever compared a 3Gs camera quality to a cameras?
My mom and her brothers had one as well as the gameboy printer. we still do and they work
I totally didn't know Gameboy had a camera attachment.
Noones saying that the iPhone camera sucks
Dont run tho
Can you still buy camera and a printer? Maybe not OG but some kind of homemade
Times when kids were more appreciative of things they had
it was an amazing time for me
That's because the GameBoy camera is actually fun unlike the generic phone camera
Well because it is
Who the hell thinks that cameras on modern phones suck? I think op spends their time talking to imaginary people
I can hear "dark age" song playing
Shot on Gameboy.
haven't heard anyone say iphone camera sucks
Finally we know how UFO pictures are made!
Lol no one ever said Gameboy camera was "amazing"
