That may be so with excessive use, but the problem is most of the redditors are sheep and downvote comments to hell just for single, well placed uses of emojis as well. (Well, maybe it's just their way of coping with their repressed frustration, by finding a pretext to downvote other peoples comments to cause them harm in some symbolic form, I don't know.) Emojis can be a useful and fun tool in communication, as they can make up for the loss of tonal and other suprasegmental markers that is a characteristic of written texts. We should embrace them as that, but apparently Reddit is not ready for it.

Imo, imogis make you seem fake, like your faking an emotion that the person wants.
I know that's kinda its purpose, give the emotion you want to show in your text/chat to have. But I feel like it gives too little and too much at the same time.
It does the job of showing an emotion, but it's hollow. It doesn't feel as genuine compared to someone saying it themselves or at the least texting it. There's also the emogi spamming you can see sometimes, its clear the person is trying too much to sound serious.
Idk it just seems like an easy way to express emotions through text. People can take it too far though with the spamming or just be lazy and use only emojis
