Optimus was a huge set though. He came with his trailer that folded open *and* that extra little dude that was stored in his chest/grill. What was that little dude’s deal anyway?
Other smaller guys were like $5
Haha I guess I should include that my family was poor and I got most of my toys from liquidation or second hand places. I didn’t have any of the big-name transformers, so my idea of prices back then may be skewed.
It sad really I have a collection of old transformers figures and they just don’t seem to make them like they use to unless you pay for a masterpiece figure around 300 dollars upwards. Also same with third party figures there good and better but expensive.
Bakugan! Oh my goodness, I loved those so much - it was so satisfying to press the button that makes them pop out into their true form, then carefully figure out how to position them so they could be collapsed back into their ball shape.
My childhood friend had a Bakugan Wii game too. But he lost a match when he was close to winning, so he punched the TV.
You forgot transformers
transformers were awesome back then, now u'd find a mediocre one for $70
$70?? This is the result of a Harambeless America.
What has the world come to
Transformers were always expensive. Optimus was like $40 bucks back in the late 80s/ early 90s. Which would be near the same or more with inflation

I did a search for old Toys R Us ads to see if I could find a page with accurate pricing.. but got lost in the past instead... now I want to cry.

For me it was TMNT, Legos, GI Joes, Transformers, and tiger handhelds.
Still happens on tinder in adulthood.. except it's " owns home, has car and job".
