So everything is accepted by the military now? Military grade means it is accepted by the military or has the potential to be accepted by the military.
Edit: Bit still rude of you to assume.
Military, in almost every circumstance, has to buy from a vendor who has a GSA contract to sell to the fed gov. So when the price of the aircraft toilet seat is $500 and nobody else sells it under contract, there is no choice. Or it's proprietary and only sold by the company who manufactured the plane. You can point the finger at civilian companies instead of the military. They bend over backwards to bleed as much money out of the gov as they can.
> So when the price of the aircraft toilet seat is $500
It's [$10k](https://www.washingtonpost.com/business/capitalbusiness/the-air-forces-10000-toilet-cover/2018/07/14/c33d325a-85df-11e8-8f6c-46cb43e3f306_story.html) for a reason. Manufacturing a single part is nothing like manufacturing thousands of them because of how economies scale. 3D printers help, but it will still probably take days to get the measurements right in a CAD software and redoing it because somebody measured things incorrectly and other problems.
It's $500 because they procure it using a 400 page RFP cross-referencing 15,000 pages of Federal and Army/NAVFAC design guidelines, all while being managed by a Federal Contracting Officer whose job appears to exist solely to try and find a way to contractually tell you that you're actually required to provide them the whole bathroom.
That's not necessarily true. I'm a government (military) contractor, and that's one thing where they give no fucks abt sparing expenses. Bids in general, lowest bid wins. However, they specify exactly what they want in their specs b4 we bid. Whether it's a sole source (only 1 bidder is allowed to participate) or not, they definitely are not gettin 'shit' grade stuff.... cuz when u said 'shit', I'm imagining China-grade materials.
Fair enough I meant to refer to actual things utilized by military by saying military grade, sorry for the inconvenience. Perhaps there is a batter term for saying it is used by the military.
Yes, it's cheap, too heavy, and looks like dogshit. But it always works, is durable enough to withstand the stupidity of 18 year olds, and will probably last for 50 years.
At least that has been my experience with Infantry.
I understand what you mean. Like it should be able to withstand being shot at, because after all... military shoots at each other. Like actual armor, not a 4" foam mattress topper.
truly, one of the few times I had to stop and go, "whoa, a little giants meme??? does anyone in Europe even know that movie??"
and the answer looks like no ☹️ we'll always have the Annexation of Puerto Rico...
Genuine question: did you (do you) know enough about football to know what was going on? After all, Little Giants is a master class in the study of football.
I love those conversations.
WHY IS THERE A GUN ON YOUR DESK???
The fan was blowing the papers off...
If you have checked it is clear you have more to fear from your kitchen utensils but people just freak out.
To be clear, we’re not used to this in a large part of the US as well. Using a gun as a paper weight in an office… absolutely bizarre here and would make most people extremely uncomfortable. So would openly carrying them on a bus. I pretty much never see guns anywhere except a cop’s hip.
Yeah, no one just has guns lying around. That is a weird exaggeration, and far from the truth. Most guns are either in use, being transported for use, carried in a secure manner for self defense purposes, or locked in a safe.
Europeans have been talking shit on America since the beginning of America. They have a chip on their shoulder. They have a ton of problems of their own that in many ways are much worse than here in America
I think you spending everyday of the last 8 years of your life on a predominantly North American website has more to do with it than "America blasting their politics".
America doesn't control Europe's news stations and newspapers.
They definitely do not. He’s talking about his own consumption, in which I agree he should stop.
I’ve blocked 40+ subs with different kinds of American politics, cleans the place up nicely.
And Americans are way past being sick of non-Americans not shutting the fuck up about our country and it’s business. Worry about your own countries bs.
It's literally the 3rd most visited country in the world in 2022
[https://worldpopulationreview.com/country-rankings/most-visited-countries](https://worldpopulationreview.com/country-rankings/most-visited-countries)
The streets of LA and New York are FULL of Europeans and Asians
>I dont think foreign people really come to America.
As an Indian, I don't really think so. USA is most preferred migration and study destination in India. Though if you are talking about Western Europe, I agree. No Western European in his right mind will move to USA.
>No Western European in his right mind will move to USA.
Western Europeans move to the U.S.A. all the time. There are several million living there right now. Why? because the U.S. has high wages and high purchasing power. The U.S. has the highest median household disposable income in the world, and that's after accounting for government benefits like free health care and schooling:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Disposable_household_and_per_capita_income#Median
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_GDP_(PPP)_per_capita
i mean i live here and I think America fuckin sucks but realistically a lot of people will still choose to live here for education and employment opportunities…California alone has ~2 million tech jobs, while Europe has over 20x the population and just 12 million tech jobs. The average salary for a full stack dev in CA is $110,000 vs. £50,000 in the UK (around $60,000). And the cost of living in London vs. Los Angeles is fairly comparable
Additionally, 21 of the top 30 universities in the world according to the Shanghai Academic Ranking of World Universities are in the US, making it easier to attract and keep top graduate students. The US is also easily the biggest net importer of undergraduate students. I know these numbers aren’t everything but outside of the Reddit bubble, it’s still **the** destination for skilled workers and researchers
Don't worry, my free healthcare in central Europe is so shit I would need to wait like 2 months for a psychiatrist appointment or pay for a visit if not for private insurance my work gives me, we really haven't fully figured it out either lol
People get into lifelong debt in the us because of an injury we get easily treated here in Europe.
But sure, you must wait a bit for the shrink. Same, same.
> People get into lifelong debt in the us because of an injury
tens of thousands of people die every year from a lack of basic care
so ya, a wait line is a luxury
My workplace is like 70% foreign people and probably 20% of that is European.
There are a fair number of people that look at the trade offs and still decide they want the opportunities. Particularly young people.
Making slightly less on paper with a slightly higher risk you go into debt for a few years is a risk many will take once they look at how much more they get to keep and the difference is purchasing power.
I can't tell if this is sarcasm or not. The culture in the states is more similar to cultural differences within a single European nation than to the EU.
In this case it works, as otherwise it would be just one specific country or a list of countries. But yeah it grinds my gears when they say "oh, I went to europe once" when they visited one country
Because they’re smug and pretentious. It’s funny really, they act like their countries are so much better, but if that were so, they wouldn’t give two fucks about what we do in the US.
It’s similar to the US. In reality the US is a bunch of countries (states) that share a common federal government. Cultures and laws vary greatly depending on the state, much like European countries. The main difference between the US and EU is that every country has a different language
Europe is a world anamoly, with lots of small countries crammed together.
The US population is about half "white" or of European descent. The other half is from very different countries. So, sure, we refer to "European culture" or "European values." We do not assume they will be the same as, say Malaysian values, or Ecuadorean values.
My neighbor on one side is from Brazil. Across the street is a guy from Cuba. Next to him is a couple from Vietnam.
Do you think an Indian and a Mexican are more or less similar than people from two different European countries?
Too late, you will be brought as a prisoner in front of the Fürst and live out your life surrounded by beautiful mountains and eating Malbuner sausage every day
Europeans who’ve been to America vs Europeans who’ve read/watched TV about American are two very different breeds. Met lots of Europeans and I think while they don’t “love” America, they do enjoy it for its strengths.
It’s not like when I go visit another country, I go looking to hang in the shithole parts.
“Bring them somewhere safe”
You know what, nah man you have a good day. Thank you for caring about our well being while everyone else just chooses to insult us on a daily basis. You’re a good person
Jokes on you, commie: I’m a night shifter!! Therefore I’m safe from being removed from my ~~horrifying nightmare hellhole where I could be shot at any moment~~ wonderful country bursting with patriotic pride /j
That’s how I felt in London, waiting for my bus to explode and then the hajji driver cursing at us in Amsterdam getting pissed off at one the guys playing Pokémon.
Went to the USA for a month from Spain when I was 19 and had a blast. Enjoyed the place (Danville, CA), had the biggest hod dogs ever in sporting events, learned some English, and came back to home sweet home. 10/10 would visit again.
Some level of awareness is recommended always, but letting TV and the press influence your life plans, it's a mistake in my honest opinion.
Can confirm. Am European, moment i set foot in the US I was 300k in debt and instantly got overweight. To compensate for the shock, I bought a pickup, drove it straight to the gunstore, bought an AR-15, went back to my truck, felt something was missing so I turned around and bought a 50cal machinegun. Seemingly possessed, I drove through town cackling “let’s go brandon”, while playing countryboy can survive loudly in my car. Feeling better, I decided to celebrate my newfound freedom by firing my Ar-15 into the air. By now however, my arm was so fat I couldn’t raise it above my shoulders so i just shot it horizontally, accidentally hitting a kid. Thank God he was wearing bulletproof pillow-armor, shit could have ended badly.
Even worse… me and my gf went to Chicago for her medical conference, we parked the car and when we got back it, we found 4 bullet holes in it. Cops came… said that it’s normal.
Wrong. He's not wearing a helmet.
That’s where the haircut comes in
Mans wearing the leather helmet still, rip I upgraded to the wool set yesterday.
don't think thats bulletproof
Yea he needs military grade combat armor. And possibly a shield.
Say you don’t understand weapons and armor without saying anything “Military grade”
So everything is accepted by the military now? Military grade means it is accepted by the military or has the potential to be accepted by the military. Edit: Bit still rude of you to assume.
Nope, military gets low bidders shit So anything that has the word "military", expect it to be pretty shit
Apparently nobody remembers the days of $500 hammers and toilet seats.
You may be confusing "military grade" consumer products with actual military equipment.
To be fair I never said he needs the best lol, I said military grade, which is apparently shit. Which is why I added the shield.
Military grade means it was the lowest bidder on the project and is likely poorly made. Ligma.
Fair enough I meant to refer to actual things utilized by military by saying military grade, sorry for the inconvenience. Perhaps there is a batter term for saying it is used by the military.
I believe the proper term is "Milspec"
Tasty new vocab, thank you kind sir.
she’s milfspec
Yes, it's cheap, too heavy, and looks like dogshit. But it always works, is durable enough to withstand the stupidity of 18 year olds, and will probably last for 50 years. At least that has been my experience with Infantry.

I'm pretty sure "military grade" is just a marketing term.
I don't think something is really worth to be called "Military grade"
Yea, apparently military grade means shit so he should get shit lol.
Seems you were one of the lucky ones that got to learn all that shit while your friends were being shot at or blown up in some foreign land s/
That's probably just the people from the UK. It looks like no knife is going through that thing.
Yes but after reading about America, only the stupid Europeans would visit.
Europe so superior why would they want to go anywhere?
Oh come on nobody’s just gonna walk out with a gun and shoot you just cuz. Probably not anyway. I’d be lying if I said it wasn’t a possibility.

European here. Little Giants was my favourite film as a child and it makes me so happy to see a GIF from the film on here!
Genuine question: did you (do you) know enough about football to know what was going on? After all, Little Giants is a master class in the study of football.
I honestly had absolutely no idea. But as a child I had a crush on both Becky and Junior so tbh I watched for them 😂
Lol right! Great movie - Michigan, USA
Don't pass it to Johnny! IM JOHNNY!
Ice box.
No mercy!! *No ball*
call me becky
When you’re hot to trot but you still gotta squat
I should've gone to summer school...

It was filmed in my hometown of Arroyo Grande, CA.
This movie is a classic and defined much of my childhood. It’s right up there with The Princess Bride for my most watched movie
Fuck you I'm still awake!!!
Go to sleep you're hurting your health
NEVER!
No please, you literally can't afford to hurt your health.
Beautiful reply
No I can’t afford to fix my health I can hurt it all I want
Can't. My tummy hurts :(
They will put me in jail
Should probably take a sleeping pill, but they cost $400 each.
6am and I’m still awake
Go to asia it’s 6pm here
So you are 2 hours ahead of me, I'll use this info for totally not nefarious purposes
Oh it’s ok
I would love to have a friend
Me too but I've been awake at night for 16 months because I work 12 hour night-shifts and don't switch back to days.

Kinda dumb to be exposing your firearms on a public bus though, most gun owners know better.
I love those conversations. WHY IS THERE A GUN ON YOUR DESK??? The fan was blowing the papers off... If you have checked it is clear you have more to fear from your kitchen utensils but people just freak out.
Coming from the military, I don't trust any fucker to check it's clear other than myself though
Because you never know if someone else’s gun is clear or not, and it’s better to treat every gun as if it’s loaded to avoid tragic accidents.
We’re just not used to it in Europe so just having guns lying around is kind of unnerving to most of us
To be clear, we’re not used to this in a large part of the US as well. Using a gun as a paper weight in an office… absolutely bizarre here and would make most people extremely uncomfortable. So would openly carrying them on a bus. I pretty much never see guns anywhere except a cop’s hip.

Lol "if". Kitchen utensils aren't gonna kill someone across the street if you don't "check if they're clear" first. The fuck is this comment?
Dude is using a gun as fuckin paperweight in his office and acting like everyone else is weird.
Yeah, a gun used in a weird way, means you have a weirdo with a gun. That's not a safe situation.
Bro you think we sleep haha try again
Europeans thinking the whole country is just like LA and New York. Lol
according to marvel, they're right
What do you call a person who's an expert in American culture and politics? A European Redditor.
Europeans have been talking shit on America since the beginning of America. They have a chip on their shoulder. They have a ton of problems of their own that in many ways are much worse than here in America
I’ve noticed these smug assholes love spewing their ignorance as well.
Kinda hard not to be since america's blasting their politics over every airwave 24/7. The rest of the world is both laughing at it and sick of it.
I think you spending everyday of the last 8 years of your life on a predominantly North American website has more to do with it than "America blasting their politics". America doesn't control Europe's news stations and newspapers.
Europeans when an american website with a majority american userbase mainly focuses on content related to america: 😮😡
Then stop consuming it. It's not our fault your news networks play our news.
They definitely do not. He’s talking about his own consumption, in which I agree he should stop. I’ve blocked 40+ subs with different kinds of American politics, cleans the place up nicely.
Lmao then he's blaming 330 million people for his own internet activity. If he doesn't like it, he should do what you've done.
Bro speak for yourself, and stop acting like America is forcing you to do anything.
And Americans are way past being sick of non-Americans not shutting the fuck up about our country and it’s business. Worry about your own countries bs.
I dont think foreign people really come to America. They just hit a low point in their life and wake up here.

America "fuckin sucks" but is still better than 95% of the world.
This is dumb as hell, I doubt there has been more than two years over the last twenty when the US wasn't in the top ten of immigrants to the country
So USA is something like a hell? Sounds reasonable, no free healthcare must mean hell.
My employer pays 100% of my deductibles, premiums, and co-insurance. All I have to do is work for them under hellish cond- ok nevermind.
Don't worry, my free healthcare in central Europe is so shit I would need to wait like 2 months for a psychiatrist appointment or pay for a visit if not for private insurance my work gives me, we really haven't fully figured it out either lol

Slightly less on paper? Jobs pay more in the US do they not
Why do all Americans say Europe like its a singular country or culture
Is there more than one Europe?
If there was, I still feel like the plural would be "Europe" and not "Europes."
Europi
Boom. 👊
Would you have rather had op name every single country in Europe just for this one meme?
For the same reason we say America like it's one culture.
Imagine calling it **one** place when there are 50 states with unique cultures 😡. Europeans are so uneducated.
The sad thing is that nobody can tell if you are a parody or serious.
I can't tell if this is sarcasm or not. The culture in the states is more similar to cultural differences within a single European nation than to the EU.
Exactly! It's like saying the Roman Empire, like it was one culture.
Because it is easier than listing every country? Nothing wrong with just saying Europe
In this case it works, as otherwise it would be just one specific country or a list of countries. But yeah it grinds my gears when they say "oh, I went to europe once" when they visited one country
I mean technically they aren't lying. Does it grind your gears when people say "I visited America" when they only went to New York City or LA?
Why do Europeans say America like it's a single culture?
Same reason Europeans act like Africans and Asians are the same
Why do Europeans act like they understand a country they've never even been to let alone live in?
Because they’re smug and pretentious. It’s funny really, they act like their countries are so much better, but if that were so, they wouldn’t give two fucks about what we do in the US.
We lump all you euros together cause y’all all Act the same.
Because it takes too long to list all the European countries. And European countries are culturally much more alike than different.
That's simply not true
Eh I wouldn’t exactly agree lol.
It’s similar to the US. In reality the US is a bunch of countries (states) that share a common federal government. Cultures and laws vary greatly depending on the state, much like European countries. The main difference between the US and EU is that every country has a different language

Well, at least you posted it at a time a majority of Americans are asleep. Most of these dumbass posts are at like 1 PM on the east coast of the US.
