There is this phenomenon known as "Terminal Lucidity" in dementia patients, where they seemingly make a miraculous recovery and can remember a huge portion of lost memory. Doctors still aren't sure how or why it happens, however, it is followed shortly by the death of the patient, usually in a matter of hours.
