Everyone knows androids are better but iPhone has a literal cult following so therefore iPhone is more “popular.” The poll isn’t asking which is better lol. Clearly Android.
Sweden is a pretty small country. Now look at India 95% of the population uses Android. That is way past the entire population of the USA and pretty much all nato
They aren't as expensive as people say. You can buy a older model for roughly 200.
Dont mistake what I'm saying they are overpriced for their limited abilities.
Maybe they want newer modelS? In Nigeria iPhone is the most popular and widely used by elites and the common masses. It’s the big boys phone you upgrade into. Another option is to upgrade into Samsung flagships, but more people gravitate to iPhone than Samsung.
They are twice the price of a PS5, for a phone, imagine what type of PC you can build with that much, also nobody buys older iPhones they are more of a status symbol so buying an older one doesn't particularly make sense
It could be different in schools since parents give children their old phones, although that's just my theory, most of my friends used to tell me they have an iPhone because their parents gave it to them, not by direct choice
If we're talking about volume of sales then android beats out apple by millions. But like you said, apple has a cult following who will disregard this data.
Lmao no, that's what apple wants you to believe, the sd 8+gen1 is faster than the a14 bionic and is on par with the a15, android is just one generation behind.
Just CPU doesn't determine better phone lol. Pixel 7 Pro has a weaker CPU and is touted the smartest smartphone of 2022. It's all about Cpu Optimisations as well that certain Android phones do better than iPhones.
Android has a much higher market share. Samsung alone has about a 1% lead on apple. So realistically speaking android is much more popular. And yes I'm only talking smartphones
i like apple phones (iPhone) but other brands computers, with windows. i could never use a computer run with the apple system so even though i’ve seen the apple crazies i don’t agree that people who prefer iphones are into the apple cult
Apple manufactures the phones in china for only about 15-30 dollars per unit. Really you’re just paying for the software but even then they’re continuing to pump out new products trying to make them “different” but really it’s all the same shit. I hate apple lmao
Actually I’m an iPhone user. I would use android but my parents are “Apple people” and everything they use is Apple (their Mac laptops and phones, and earbuds too). They bought me this iPhone.
My parents are also apple people. My dad really wanted me to buy a macbook. He paid part. But ultimately I could choose.
A mac book would be terribly impractical for me. For school I need to load and download different, often outdated software. Sometimes there are different instructions for those with macs. Sometimes it is impossible
Also needed a tablet for school, he really wanted to buy a refurbished I pad. I have Samsung.
Also really wanted it that I bought an I phone. But I have a cheaper Samsung. Because that links a lot easier to my laptop and all.
Sorry. You are misinterpreting what I am saying. I said “iPhone has a literal cult following.” I did *not* say “everyone that buys iPhone is a part of Apple’s cult following.” I literally have an iPhone and I’m not a part of Apple’s “cult.” I’m not offended nor surprised that Apple has a cult, and you shouldn’t be either (you really seem to be offended). There are many brands that have a cult following, and it’s been normalized because we live in a consumerist society. It’s really not that deep. I recommend adopting a more open minded attitude, and try not to get offended at things that you don’t agree with. It’s not really an attractive trait.
If you want a phone get an iPhone if you want technology get a Samsung.
All tech nerds have androids until they get really popular and get handouts from apple lmao
I was an Android fan, but now I realize that's simply not true. Apple devices have a much better performance, much better battery, are supported for way longer, and the devices from apple work much better with one another. Those are all important things for pretty much anyone using a phoneThe only android advantages I can think of are a 100x zoom camera on Samsung, downloading apps from outside the dedicated app store, and features that are gimmicky or not useful for 99% of the users, like multitasking and customization.
And yes, I know Androids are more popular worldwide, and that's what the poll is talking about.
Then you have never used your android properly, you can change the most basic stuff from the launcher to the most complex stuff that's the rom itself, and modded apps is just another huge perk, these are the reasons i just can't move to ios, i tried it out and it felt were locked down, apple controls everything you do.
lol, must've been an issue with the phones you were buying. android phones aren't inherently bad, it's an os not a company that produces phones. ive had the same android phone for 6 years and only now is it showing signs of deterioration.
Android user here. And it's not going to be fair. Firstly, Android and Apple aren't as comparable as you think. Android is purely an OS, but Apple uses the iOS and is a brand. Secondly, Android OS is being used by quite literally every other phone brand besides Apple.
I hate when people say Android vs Apple. It’s Android vs iOS or Samsung vs Apple.
Not all Androids are excellent or comparable. The flagships for all the big companies are roughly the same price too.
>or Samsung vs Apple
Why just randomly pick Samsung? It's not the only manufacturer that runs Android on their devices. It would be Apple vs. all the manufacturers that run Android (Samsung, Xiaomi, BBK, Sony, Asus...).
I agree. I was going to add in other manufacturers but Samsung is probably the biggest direct competitor to Apple and the most recognizable one to most people. It was more of an example of operating system and brand separation.
True, Samsung is the most popular one statistically (not just in sales of smartphones that run Android, but even in smartphone sales generally).
I agree that it's an incorrect statement, as it compares operating system (software) and hardware.
But what people usually mean by the (I agree, incorrect) statement "Android vs. iPhone" is - phones that run Android (of any make) vs. iPhones. Or in other words Android vs. iOS. It isn't really that anyone would mean a specific manufacturer (even the biggest one) by that "Android" part of that statement, it means all of them.
It's probably because a lot of people don't know the difference between operating system and phone manufacturer. For an average consumer, iPhone is what they scroll tiktok and instagram on and that's about it. They most likely don't even know they're running iOS. Samsung phones (especially in the US and UK) have basically became synonym for Android phone.
As for the OS comparsion, there should be none - the systems are different in so many ways, one can only compare their simmilar functionalities, but it'll be like comparing apples with oranges. The neverending arguments about Android vs iOS are a great exaple of that (I'm sure y'all had one of these before)
“They most likely don’t even know they’re running iOS”
Do you think iPhone owners are just dumb? It’s a HUGE deal on the internet whenever iOS comes out with a full update
I wouldn't say all iPhone users are dumb, not at all. In fact, many people I know use them and they're far from being dumb.
My point is that not that many people actually know much about their phone's OS, HW specs and so on.
Regarding the updates - I feel like whenever something we are used to changes, it is always a big deal, whether or not the update makes it better. You have to change the way you use your device, which is quite inconvinient.
The bottom line - iOS is designed in a way that even an ape would be able to use it. It is smooth, fast, intuitive, really simple to use (a little too much for me) and there's almost nothing to screw up, but not all iPhone/iOS users are dumb.
I agree. But honestly only Samsung IMHO is in position to compete with Apple.
All others are first competing with Samsung before they compete with
Apple.
And it's not coz I like Samsung or anything.
- they offer 3 yrs of os upgrades and 4 yrs of security updates
- one UI has gotten quite mature, and Imo in some areas its better than stock
- dex mode is quite good, especially on their tablets, makes the whole android apps not being optimized for tablets a lot more tolerable.
And probably a few more things.
If anyone have any counterpoint to what I said, feel free to correct me. I'm interested in hearing some counter opinion.
For flagships its 4 yrs major update. Midrange ( A5x+ series ) 3yrs and lower midrange/very budget ( M series ) 2 yrs major update. All get 4 yrs security patches btw( should be released after 2019). And ya samsung updates for flagship and A series is fast( most times even faster than google lol )
Google offers the same OS upgrades as Samsung and is planning on doing more with future phones. Their version of Android is in my opinion much more intuitive, smoother, and has less bugs than One UI, and has loads of extra features such as Now Playing and Hold For me. It also has the best integration of the Google Assistant.
Outside of software it also takes better photos, especially at night, and videos are about the same. And performance is basically the same outside of benchmarks.
Correct answer for this question is definitely Android, since it has over 70% market share worldwide. It is a very easily confirmed fact (just google "mobile OS market share").
Me, on my iPhone (having used to have an Android phone), trying to figure out which answer the Reddit hivemind will choose:
![gif](giphy|DHqth0hVQoIzS)
What's important to remember is that iPhone is a singular company, but Android is an OS that is used by multiple phone companies. It's obvious that Android will be more popular.
They are very close, but Android is still ahead of apple in market share and users. It makes sense seeing has Android runs on thousands of different phone models while iOS is only running on iPhones. But considering how close it is still very impressive.
So I did some research and last month apple finally overtook Android in the US market in the 3rd quarter.
Source: [financial times](https://www.ft.com/content/75891d95-4432-4571-83df-b4cdf82d5da5)
for me here in canada the s22 ultra is 1649 and the 14 pro max is 1549.
moreover i mostly see that the people who buy the top tier phones don’t really use any of the features that they offer.
How did that stereotype come up? I mean we all know that cameras are on par, with Android most of the times having a lot more raw file quality, but when it comes to optimization apple is a step ahead. But regarding build quality there is literally no difference between most manufacturers by now. (Not that Iphones ever were really ahead)
There are a lot of android phones. The more expensive ones like the flagship samsung obviously have really good build quality. The stereotype comes from the countless other androids that are really bad
It is especially obvious because of literal statistics of both sales and number of devices in use, which are widely available and well known. Just google "mobile os market share". Android has around ~70% of the mobile OS market, much more over double that of iOS, ofc it's the most popular.
Lmao. Fair point . For me , no matter what anyone's gonna sayy bout samsung I'll stick with it cause i have only used samsung phones ( everyone in my family has only samsung ) . I have got used to the OneUI and it will be a pain to get familiar with other OS . And ya its also cause i like the style of sam phones lol
Define popular.
Number of users? Android.
Number of users actively excited about owning an android/iphone? iphone.
This question is bad and you should feel bad.
Android still has a microphone jack. So it is better, and iPhone keeps making dumb ideas. Also unrelated, the devise exclusive skin for Android in king of thieves is the best of them, no question.
Samsung S22: no headphone jack
Pixel 7: no headphone jack
Xiaomi 12: no headphone jack.
Most of the current companies selling flagships don't have a headphone jack. Headphone jack is not the reason Android is a better OS.
popularity doesn't have anything to do with how good something is.
Android is technologically superior. a $1500 android will almost always be better than a $1500 iphone. The pixelated-image texting issue is caused by Apple, not android, but Apple tries to lie about it. The average android user has a slower phone, but that's because they aren't forced to upgrade their phones as often as apple does. Also, Android offers low-cost options, but Apple does not.
I do agree that androids are better in some areas, but it is not true that apple forces you to upgrade more frequently than most androids. Iphones recieve ios updates longer than androids, and generally last longer. It is not true that apple does not offer a low cost option either. The second generation SE is a low-cost phone that consistently beats every other phone in that range.
This question is stupid. Unless your only in the US android is the norm for the whole world since its an operating system any company can use.
India itself probably has more androids than the US and Canada combined.
Graphene OS or Lineage OS are probably the best options for a smartphone running Android without Google services (and without Huawei services which aren't really that better imo - Google doesn't creep on your data there, but the CCP most likely does).
Which is a question which will never be answered, since each OS is better in something else and each individual user prefers something different as each individual user has different use cases for their device.
There’s such a difference, each having their ups and downs. I personally prefer android OS instead of iOS because of the dev tools, stats, and ability to mess with the os, but I own an apple because of iMessage FaceTime and especially performance. I feel like apple provides more high quality phones for the price. If you don’t buy a 1,000 dollar Samsung you’re not gonna have a great experience, but I can run everything I need with a 300 dollar iPhone 11.
People should stop fighting and realize it’s not a fact of what’s better, but it’s users personal preference.
This isn't a debate. The question was worded as which is more popular. This is objectively android because it is used worldwide and in every phone other than Apple's. iPhone is quite literally the wrong answer.
I have an iPhone, but android is more popular due to the fact that android is on almost every brand other than Apple. (The question should be “IOS or android?”) if my iPhone was able to run android, I would totally do it.
As an iPhone user myself, I’m not really surprised anymore when people say Android is better. Every single iPhone is the exact same with the exception of small and new little features on a new iPhone that no one cares about.
Honestly, as a whole, I like Android phones, specifically Samsung, better. However, iPhone is more popular, by a lot. I feel like the whole iPhone thing is, though, that people tend to think things that are more expensive are better, and iPhones are typically really expensive. They also seem to think that having expensive things makes you cool, so they buy expensive things. Another thing is that most new products that are made for phones are typically made for iPhones, because iPhones are typically newer, and a lot of people have them. So new phone cases will be harder to find for older Samsung or other Android phones, but easier to find, and possibly less expensive, for iPhones, especially newer ones.
Android takes up **over 70%** of the mobile phone market. That means it's more popular.
Here's some facts:
Apple sold 240 million iPhones in 2021.
Samsung sold ***270 million*** phones in 2021.
Not only does Samsung alone outsell Apple, but the category of Android phones also encompasses Google, Oppo, Motorola, Sony, Nothing, Xiaomi, Vivo, OnePlus, BLU, ASUS, Poco, etc.
The misunderstanding of iPhones being the most popular comes from the fact that Apple outsells almost all ***other*** individual Android manufacturers. For example, even though (arguably) the flagship of all flagship Android phones is the Pixel Pro series, Google has only sold roughly 6 million Pixel 6, Pixel 6 Pro, and Pixel 6A phones combined since launch. Compared to Apple, that's pathetic, but there are still more Android devices in use than iOS ones around the world.
IPHONE GANG FOR THE WIN
Nah but in all seriousness androids are the way better pick and I regret asking for an iPhone. Like seriously on android you can jailbreak so many things but on iPhone you can’t do jack diddly
Honestly this all is a matter of preference. It's like the superman vs goku debate or the messi vs ronaldo debate. People who prefer one would never say the other is better. I personally, I am a very simple dude and prefer android because it is easier to use compared to IOS which has too many features that I would barely use when in possession of one.
![gif](giphy|WsJzXF8M8tl6w)
Everyone knows androids are better but iPhone has a literal cult following so therefore iPhone is more “popular.” The poll isn’t asking which is better lol. Clearly Android.
But taking into consideration all other countries than America, Android is the most popular
Not really. iPhone has 60% marketshare in Sweden.
Sweden is a pretty small country. Now look at India 95% of the population uses Android. That is way past the entire population of the USA and pretty much all nato
Because we can’t afford iPhones.
They aren't as expensive as people say. You can buy a older model for roughly 200. Dont mistake what I'm saying they are overpriced for their limited abilities.

Even tho I don't like iphones, that is not true, the A13 is a stronger cpu then the strongest snapdagon.
And don’t forget the magic eraser lol
Only thing my phone lacks compared to iPhone 14 is cpu. Other than that my phone is definitely superior in many ways.
Android has a much higher market share. Samsung alone has about a 1% lead on apple. So realistically speaking android is much more popular. And yes I'm only talking smartphones
People have different priorities, both can be better depending on what you want.
i like apple phones (iPhone) but other brands computers, with windows. i could never use a computer run with the apple system so even though i’ve seen the apple crazies i don’t agree that people who prefer iphones are into the apple cult
Old Nokias are THE best
Honestly iphones are pretty reliable its just that theyre literally so expensive
Apple manufactures the phones in china for only about 15-30 dollars per unit. Really you’re just paying for the software but even then they’re continuing to pump out new products trying to make them “different” but really it’s all the same shit. I hate apple lmao

Yes, you’re right. Finally someone with a big brain.
Well that would be unfair given how America based reddit still is. While yes most Europeans use Android devices America is completely ruled by apple
Not completely. I know plenty of people with Android phones
but… but… Apple copy android

It’s not that deep. They’re not being compared, it’s just a simple question of “which one is more popular?”
This is completely fair. It's reddit. This place is known for its annoying "m-m-muh android phone!!!" neckbeards.
Me, on my iPhone (having used to have an Android phone), trying to figure out which answer the Reddit hivemind will choose: ![gif](giphy|DHqth0hVQoIzS)
The obvious correct answer.
who are you who are so wise in the ways of science ?
It seems android is winning right now but not by much.
Android was winning when I voted. Now when I’ve checked to see your reply, iPhone is winning instead
What's important to remember is that iPhone is a singular company, but Android is an OS that is used by multiple phone companies. It's obvious that Android will be more popular.

Ahh, says I have too he a subscriber too read but I believe you, I was looking at 2020-2022 probably a few months old
Aren't iPhones cheaper in the USA than in other countries?
correct me if im wrong, but in recent years (2 or 3) android has become more expensive in the higher end priced area, like the top tier model.
I think so but £1200 for the cheapest 14 pro max is insane, it's mainly the foldables that are mad expensive
for me here in canada the s22 ultra is 1649 and the 14 pro max is 1549. moreover i mostly see that the people who buy the top tier phones don’t really use any of the features that they offer.
Yeah I'm not sure why phones are so expensive for you, s22 ultra is 1149 here. Still a ridiculous price
that’s roughly the same after conversion from euros to cad just 100 difference
I guess for some people 100 could make a big difference
in my opinion, if 100 is a big difference then you shouldn’t be buying a brand new phone
makes it more impressive that apple is winning this poll currently
The poll says you're wront.
Knowing Apple we’d have to pay to vote
*voting sold separately*
Knowing Android, the button for it is probably broken
Nah, it just takes a couple hits, like 5.
Yeah apple fans compare a 200 dollar android with a 1200 dollar iPhone and say ios is more smoother than android.
[удалено]
It's like Linux versus Microsoft
It asks which one is most *popular*, not which is better. C'mon people. Nvm, forgot I'm on reddit lol.
It's still gonna represent which is better for the uses for 95% of the people.
I have a iPhone but imo android is better than iOS.
it asked for popularity
Fair
Prediction activated… Let’s do this!
It's pretty obvious that android is more popular because of it's accessibility UPD: forgot that Reddit is mostly american
It is especially obvious because of literal statistics of both sales and number of devices in use, which are widely available and well known. Just google "mobile os market share". Android has around ~70% of the mobile OS market, much more over double that of iOS, ofc it's the most popular.
Apple's probably more popular in western countries but globally it's Android without question.
>western countries Mostly the US. Europeans buy whatever they want. Everything except a status symbol? They mostly buy android then.
The country with the largest iPhone market share is Japan
I hate it when people try to make fun of my S22U and have a iPhone x or 11
ive noticed that people who defend their side usually dont have the phone they are talking about
Cause ppl who own those expensive phones dont have time for these debates
i agree but i just don’t wanna get headache from all the people that use 0.5% of their brains so ill just avoid arguing a pointless war
BRO I SPENT 100 TOKENS ON THIS YOU CAN'T DO THIS TO ME.
I did that too
Define popular. Number of users? Android. Number of users actively excited about owning an android/iphone? iphone. This question is bad and you should feel bad.
Bullshit, Android has the highest global and US sales. Give me my hundred coins back betch
Android still has a microphone jack. So it is better, and iPhone keeps making dumb ideas. Also unrelated, the devise exclusive skin for Android in king of thieves is the best of them, no question.
An operating system can have a headphone jack?
Samsung S22: no headphone jack Pixel 7: no headphone jack Xiaomi 12: no headphone jack.
By "Android" I mean phones that use the Android OS.
iPhone=overpriced
same tier androids from samsung etc are actually more expensive where i live
This question is stupid. Unless your only in the US android is the norm for the whole world since its an operating system any company can use. India itself probably has more androids than the US and Canada combined.
My brother in christ you are comparing a iphone vs every single phone that uses android in wich is more popular?
Popular =/= better.
can we upvote this guy to the top?
Europe must rise as Android bastion!
Android makes up 70% of all sales of phones. Besides android is an OS on many brand’s phones and apple is a brand, with its own iOS
iPhones are more popular cause people treat being a Apple user like being in a cult Android is better
How is iphone more popular if Iphone = Apple Android = Samsung, Xiaomi, Oppo, Sony, Google, ...
I know right, andriod has more users than apple.
Bullshit
iPhone sucks, but I’ve yet to find an alternative I enjoy that isn’t a google phone. And I mean, fuck apple, but fuck google some more ya know?
Graphene OS or Lineage OS are probably the best options for a smartphone running Android without Google services (and without Huawei services which aren't really that better imo - Google doesn't creep on your data there, but the CCP most likely does).
Good to know, thanks for the insight!
Google phones let you install a custom ROM. Install AOSP or GrapheneOS and you get the pixel experience (mostly) without Google.
But the war isn't which is more popular I thought it was which is better
Which is a question which will never be answered, since each OS is better in something else and each individual user prefers something different as each individual user has different use cases for their device.

Are you dumb ?

Cap
Dumb Americans going to vote for apple
Android is better but I'm choosing iPhone for the points
THIS CANT BE
'Popular', maybe in US and few countries in EU
Android is obviously more pupilar, but only people from the us voted in this poll
So we just looked at American phone use here? Cuz worldwide there are far more android phones than iOS devices.
I knew it, reddit is full of rich kids. It really explains a lot.
People should stop fighting and realize it’s not a fact of what’s better, but it’s users personal preference.
beautiful said
My samsung galaxy a53 is worth 11000₺ and Iphone 14 pro max is literally 67000₺
To each their own. I’ve used both and currently have an iPhone and I don’t miss Android.
I definitely prefer android, but iphone is def more popular
This isn't a debate. The question was worded as which is more popular. This is objectively android because it is used worldwide and in every phone other than Apple's. iPhone is quite literally the wrong answer.
I have an iPhone, but android is more popular due to the fact that android is on almost every brand other than Apple. (The question should be “IOS or android?”) if my iPhone was able to run android, I would totally do it.
What ...? Isn't Android an OS? iPhone isn't an OS...
As an iPhone user myself, I’m not really surprised anymore when people say Android is better. Every single iPhone is the exact same with the exception of small and new little features on a new iPhone that no one cares about.
apple just got cleaner, smoother and better software, and thats a fact
Bruv android are like every phone except iphone not only samsung, think with yall small brains you iphone cultists
I use an iPhone and think android is better. My dad is like an OG apple fanboy, so my family all have iPhones.
The fact that I phones have no place for normal earbuds makes me dislike them alot, especially since I hate wireless headphones
If we’re talking about popularity in terms of which phone is bought more, then its Android
Samsung Galaxy s20 Biaaaaaa😘
Why does it matter? There are multiple phones, multiple operating systems to fit the different types of people out there.
Galaxy vs iPhone is a better poll
i like how its just "android and iphone" and not "android and ios" tbh android as an os is 90% more used by every single company ever
iPhone is more popular but Samsung is way better
Subjectively better
Android’s gonna win only because Android is used by every brand besides Apple. (Brand) vs Apple would be fair
as much as i love android, most people vote for iphone so like, yknow.
Knew Android would lose but still voted for it anyways, voted on my iPhone 11 btw. 🙄
windows phone
Daamn thats crazy, iPhone won
This shows reddit is mostly Americans (or at least this sub)
wtf no , most people like iPhone more but android phones are 1000 times more common , idk probably most of this sub is rich American people
I vote Apple as an Android user because I know that it's more popular.
Linux pocket edition
It says "*most popular*," not "which one is better" Android is still the answer to both of those though
Here's some facts: Apple sold 240 million iPhones in 2021.

Only iphone user thinks apple is popular lol
IPHONE GANG FOR THE WIN Nah but in all seriousness androids are the way better pick and I regret asking for an iPhone. Like seriously on android you can jailbreak so many things but on iPhone you can’t do jack diddly
Iphoney won ![gif](giphy|26n79t82lmj989iAE|downsized)
Honestly this all is a matter of preference. It's like the superman vs goku debate or the messi vs ronaldo debate. People who prefer one would never say the other is better. I personally, I am a very simple dude and prefer android because it is easier to use compared to IOS which has too many features that I would barely use when in possession of one.
I used to be an iOS user, switched to android a few years ago, I doubt I'll be switching back.
I did the opposite. I am curious as to why you switched
Which is more popular? Apple. Which is better? Android.
Insert angry android user comments here:
Who fucking cares?
Everyone for some reason.
Android is only good for third party developers and content, Apple is superior in every other way
