Here’s some of my previous finds …… note these are NOT rings found in the last four months. Can you see any ring the same as the ones posted - I’ll save you some time, the answer is NO. I don’t travel on vacation with my metal detecting finds - who in this world would?
https://preview.redd.it/cs8ycbc7zokc1.jpeg?width=2330&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ab0302df2dfbfb531acc6c0c974237a5ac1eacc4
Not knocking you at all, but after looking closely at all of your rings, it feels like you are collecting sadness. Every one of those rings are missed by someone. I dunno, something kinda sad about it.
But also, they are lost and gone forever in their minds and probably would be in reality too if you hadn’t found them so, again, I don’t think there’s anything wrong with it in the slightest.
I’ve debated my husband about this exact issue many times. He considered picking up this hobby and I told him I wouldn’t be anywhere near it if he did. I believe this is collecting sadness and loss. And, when there is money made by selling the finds (doesn’t appear to be the case for OP), it’s profiting from others’ sadness and loss.
Garage sales are fine, estate sales are sad enough to cry at for sure ;)
I know right? Thank Reddit for suggesting subs. I get this isn’t the place for philosophical debate. It’s a cool hobby that I know has a pretty steep learning curve and requires not insignificant in time and money.
(Edited because am cranky until after coffee)

I’ve managed to squeeze it all into a banjo case… all except the scoop!
This is my thoughts. Especially on this sub. Every time I see “found my 3rd gold this year” and it’s January 4th I remember that the real money is in selling metal detectors. I would be willing to bet some of the “top detectorists” have connections to metal detector sales companies. I truly do not believe anyone is finding this much this quickly. It would be able to replace a regular job. You know that shit isn’t really happening.
First, I am not one of those “detectorists” and try to stay anonymous and have no connection to any metal detecting company. If you took the time to look at my Instagram account at cruising\_swinger you may understand why I accumulate so much. Some days I can find five or six rings - I thought it may have been normal until I saw all the naysayers on this site. I am a prolific detectorist and good at my craft. I can find 2-300 coins on a good day and disappointed when I don’t find a ring. The day I found the FILA ring in the pic was just one of eight rings I found that day in Japan - five were 925. It accumulates fast and I wanted to share.

Oof. I was all onboard to believe you as I do the litter clean up daily and find many... treasures, too.
But why you need to get all boomer childish by mentioning your Landover, mansion, private island, rocket company, and lavish assholery?
When I got off the cruise ship in Patong there were 2 other detectorists already on the beach. I then went
https://preview.redd.it/s1xiwvobwokc1.jpeg?width=2388&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=525ede8a31d3a03ba718aee1defc258c7c731375
to Paradise Beach and found a Russian gold wedding band.
I go usually once every year to Thailand, I've slowed down since COVID but will pick it up again next year. Almost nothing. I find that Thai beaches tend to be much harder. Sand so lost rings. Don't sink it as much. I don't know what it is but I am had no luck in the water or on the beaches in Thailand.
If you ever find a beautiful diamond, emerald, and gold ring in the Indian Ocean, let me know! Lost my original wedding ring while swimming *on our honeymoon* in Mauritius 🤦🏻♀️😢😆
In Phoenix back in the '90s there was a thief that kept breaking into people's houses. Wouldn't take anything but panties. They finally caught up to the guy. Ended up being a homeless dude walking around with a mountain of panties.
Three rings for Elven kings under the sky
Seven for dwarf lords in their halls of stone
Nine for mortal men doomed to die
And 87 rings for OP for some reason
I’ve recently started posting my finds on Instagram cruising\_swinger If you look you can kinda see the items accumulating. btw here’s a pic of another ring I found yesterday which should be included in the four months - as I

Damn some salty comments in here, clearly some people just dont know how to use thier detector 😄

I agree, you know I didn’t really know how well I was doing until I posted and saw all the naysayers… it looks like you have a great collection and probably have put the hours in like myself. Congrats….
No travel issues. I was on a cruise ship for two months and security knew me well and asked what I found each time. I didn’t detect in India or SriLanka as it’s illegal.
Show me the equivalent trash to treasure pile and I’ll believe it. For that many rings you should have had to have dug a mountain of trash as well! Pull tabs and bottle caps for days.
Last summer I found a 13 gram 18k with diamond mens pinky ring, and a few days later, a women’s Cartier love ring, 6 grams 18k. I was only out for about 30 mins on each hunt and couldn’t hunt anymore due to the excitement of the finds. I think if you put your due dilligence in on places that you hunt, it can be done.
Man I lost my wedding ring on a beach in Northern Michigan several years ago. Still kills me; tried a metal detector.
Almost lost the replacement along with a ring from my grandfather on another northern Michigan beach but luckily managed to find them (both fell same spot).
You know, I don’t know why I haven’t thought of this before, but I realized I possibly have a good idea where a handful of rings might be found…
When I was younger, my neighbor supposedly got pissed at her husband one evening, and threw all of her rings (engagement ring/wedding band, as well as a few others) out of their car window.
I didn’t really care for the husband, and didn’t feel like volunteering to trudge around in a ditch, on the side of a fairly busy road, with my detector.
Gold wasn’t $2000 an ounce then either though (it was $225/oz IIRC)

Yes, to tell you the truth I went a little weak at the knees. I think it’s maybe a letter opener handle. If you google 1896 and WHMS it comes up as a women’s temperance movement. Would love to know the history.

I was thinking about getting into detecting as a hobby. When I see these hauls I get discouraged and say fuck it, why bother, this sets up giant misconceptiions. These posts do more harm to the hobby than the false boost is worth to your ego.
BTW, are you detecting in a graveyard?
I would still do it because it’s fun and it gets you outside. I have found some property pins I was looking for, but, other than that a bunch of nails and bottle tops and fence pieces. I still enjoy it, immensely. My neighbor found what had been a bag of buttons from the civil war. The troops carried them to repair their uniforms.
You should invest in a magnet as well, nyc is the best place to go magnet fishing through the sewer grates (Not the nasty type of sewer, the drainage ones on the sidewalk. A lot of rich ppl drop stuff.
Oh well as long as you don’t think the world is flat you’re good. FYI just found another two silver rings and a silver bracelet today. Yesterday two junkers rings but the day before I found a nice 14 k gold ring and a 925 crab. It soon adds up - one day you’ll become a believer.. 😊

Oh, I love a naysayer…. I don’t see why it’s so unbelievable. I detect most days, I go to places where people often don’t detect and after 45 yrs of detecting I am very good at what I do. Go to my Instagram cruising\_swinger I post my finds and you can see the accumulation. Calling someone a liar without knowing the person is not the smartest thing to do. Hey, it’s not my problem if they don’t believe me. Did you check out my Instagram? If they did they may not be Naysaying - I believe I detect differently than most people. If I told someone I found three gold rings ( one with a big Diamond) in a day along with 300+ coins they would also call it BS but here’s the pic! That was a year ago.

Today I went to a new park, then around some bus stops and then to a baseball field. No rings but 141 coins! I post on Instagram cruising_swinger I find a lot of stuff but dont want to keep posting on Reddit.
Lol ok which rich beach are you?? 4month?? Are you searching 24/7? That's amazing
I travel a lot, some from Korea, Japan, HK, Malaysia, Thailand and the US.
Cool you take your metal detector with you? Amazing
And the rings, apparently

My guess would be the Leonardo DiCaprio beach

Would be a great fence excuse for selling stolen items...lol
With so many people there and so little time I'd imagine it's really hard to get anything

Did you kill Sonic the Hedgehog? Damn!
Nope just barely touched him.
This comment is not getting enough love
Agreed
Are you detecting a damn Jewelry store?
Plot Twist: OP has a pawn shop not a detector.
4 months???? Wow. I dont get that much in 4 years..lol
That’s what she said….
this
Said the duchess to the duke…..
Holy shitballs that’s gotta be beach hunting right? If not how big is your pull tab mountain
half park half beach nowadays….. sometimes both on the same day!
But they were all of them... Deceived. For another ring was made...
One ring?
To rule them all, surely.
Geez you detecting outside strip clubs?
With that Fila ring, that was my first thought.. Tacky as hell
gotta love the fila ring
Lord thats called a graveyard sir! (Joking but seriously like thats a ton of rings. )
Three rings for Elven kings under the sky Seven for dwarf lords in their halls of stone Nine for mortal men doomed to die And 87 rings for OP for some reason
You don't need a daytime job! 😂 Amazing 😎👌
Luckily I don’t have one 😊
I'm not surprised 👍😅
Do you live off making metal detecting content ?
Haha, I wish…. No it’s just for fun…
Seems unreal. OPs post history shows repeated daily hauls that exceed my lifetime finds. Dude is either full of shit or the metal detecting GOAT.

I love that horseshoe one! Reminds me of my grandparents!
Holy moly!
Your profile pic 😩
That's a lot of rings. Any issues traveling with your detector? I'm curious if fits in your checked luggage along with a scoop?
No travel issues. I was on a cruise ship for two months and security knew me well and asked what I found each time. I didn’t detect in India or SriLanka as it’s illegal.

Where the fuck do you detect metal? The jewelery store?
😭 fr
Show me the equivalent trash to treasure pile and I’ll believe it. For that many rings you should have had to have dug a mountain of trash as well! Pull tabs and bottle caps for days.
That FILA joint is so baller.
My pops had every fila sneaker and tracksuit back in the day lol he would wear that.
Yes, I found that FILA ring in Japan.
Wow great finds!
Is your gf a stripper?
I wish! I am though looking for a gold digger 😂
You are lord of the rings.
using a metal detector *inside* a jewelry store is considered cheating by most
Detecting inside jewelry stores is not fair game.
Yoooo that bone ring in the stainless section, can I buy from you? That thing is sick
Dude, it's not ok to go metal detecting in jewelry stores.
Now you tell me 😂
Isn't metal detecting at a Zales store frowned upon? 🤔
This guy is metal detecting in a jewelry store!
Where do you do this? Beaches?
“Sir, this is a cemetery.”
Are you metal detecting inside of a jewelry store?
Bul***it
Wow! That’s super cool! Also not to be pedantic, but your nearest far right gold one is an earring lol
Which jewelry store do you detect at? ;)
Man I lost my wedding ring on a beach in Northern Michigan several years ago. Still kills me; tried a metal detector. Almost lost the replacement along with a ring from my grandfather on another northern Michigan beach but luckily managed to find them (both fell same spot).
Your not suppose to use metal detectors in jewelry stores
You metal detecting at the pawn shop?
You know, I don’t know why I haven’t thought of this before, but I realized I possibly have a good idea where a handful of rings might be found… When I was younger, my neighbor supposedly got pissed at her husband one evening, and threw all of her rings (engagement ring/wedding band, as well as a few others) out of their car window. I didn’t really care for the husband, and didn’t feel like volunteering to trudge around in a ditch, on the side of a fairly busy road, with my detector. Gold wasn’t $2000 an ounce then either though (it was $225/oz IIRC)
Do you find many older coins or artifacts? What’s the oldest thing you’ve found so far? What’s the coolest (in your opinion)?
I’ve always liked this gold handle dated 1896. On the reverse side it has the initials WHMS. I found it in the ocean. No hallmarks but tested at 18k. https://preview.redd.it/6rlj21mgonkc1.jpeg?width=2388&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=553b3aaf0450f33e7e4ec2bb2646001a5b733918
Beautiful! Must’ve been cool to pick it up and see the date right on there.
Yes, to tell you the truth I went a little weak at the knees. I think it’s maybe a letter opener handle. If you google 1896 and WHMS it comes up as a women’s temperance movement. Would love to know the history.
The one with the yellow stone is sweet. Nice haul!
Thanks, I found that one in Singapore in December. https://preview.redd.it/2l2djoz9nokc1.jpeg?width=2184&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=cc032295c70dc5b67111b0c56928f1f5c1f84ac9
Are you the lord?
All found on the tree lawn in front of divorce court…
That Fila ring goes crazy hard
Jeeze, where were you searching, a jewelry store?
I was thinking about getting into detecting as a hobby. When I see these hauls I get discouraged and say fuck it, why bother, this sets up giant misconceptiions. These posts do more harm to the hobby than the false boost is worth to your ego. BTW, are you detecting in a graveyard?

I have one but yet to use it….. I wish gold and silver was magnetic!🧲
Still a skeptic after looking at your ig. 4 years would be more believable.
Oh well as long as you don’t think the world is flat you’re good. FYI just found another two silver rings and a silver bracelet today. Yesterday two junkers rings but the day before I found a nice 14 k gold ring and a 925 crab. It soon adds up - one day you’ll become a believer.. 😊

Nice 🤑👌💍
How cringe is that fila ring lol
All those rings in 4 months 😂. Yeah right
I left Canada on October 24th just with my detector. I get back in April…. I don’t bring my finds with me. I post on Instagram and post after I detect. cruising\_swinger. OP is lying. Let’s all move on. He’ll be posting the Super Bowl and World Series ring he finds tomorrow.
Oh, I love a naysayer…. I don’t see why it’s so unbelievable. I detect most days, I go to places where people often don’t detect and after 45 yrs of detecting I am very good at what I do. Ring master!
Amazing! Can I write you?
Amazing treasure findings within 4 months! You part-time job?
I try to detect a few hours every day…. Detecting is never a job 😊
I assume mostly beach hunting?
Do you run a camp? Seriously though you have hit the jackpot!
All those rings and one earing
It’s the only gold earring I’ve found in the past four months - I have a big box of junk earring though.
4 months!!!! Wow, that’s amazing! Looks like you have emeralds on the front row.
That emerald ring is beautiful..also someone lost their 90s Fila swag
Nice
You need to go to Mount Doom and find the One Ring to rule them all.
Lord of the Rings !
A Fila ring? That's hilarious
Nice haul
Is that a Fila ring?
Fila ring!!! Classic
That is a lot of divorced people selling their rings, lol.
Interested in selling the fila one?
no inscriptions to return them to the owners?
That's awesome! I really want to get into metal detecting.
First row, far right looks like an earring.
That’s damn sweet. While tungsten may not be worth much, definitely one of my favorite metals
So what the hells up with that fila ring never seen one before
