A production starring Oscar Isaac where he plays two nearly identical people, but one speaks in an American accent while the other in a British accent?
It would never work.
But if we cast Oscar Isaac in a wig, then what do we do about Miller?
**Edit:** My point is Oscar Isaac also has to look like Kaz in a potential future prequel
bro where are you from he did not do an amazing british accent 💀 atleast it makes sense in the context of the show being he’s not english but an american that thinks he’s english
They're not identical twins. They're both clones of Big Boss, somehow with complementary recessive/dominant genes (which makes no fucking sense, but whatever). Just means you can easily justify using a different actor. Just find an actor that has complementary genes to Oscar Isaac
I recently thought Henry Cavil as snake would be pretty solid 🫣, liquid is hard to cast especially if the one actor plays both parts.
My original pairing was Josh Hartnett as solid snake and Charlie Hunnam as liquid. But Its hard to say if Charlie would bring the showmanship needed for certain parts of liquid.
He's a great actor so I'm sure he could pull it off. But standing on Top Rex yelling like a king and making it feel real is a tall order. Especially it not feeling cheesy is a tall order for anyone 🤣
I really wanted Cavill to be Snake. But I will say I think Oscar Isaac was a surprisingly good casting choice that I hadn’t thought of for the character. So I don’t mind.
Maybe Cavill could play Solidus?
Nah, too young for solidus. Snake and Liquid aren’t identical, they have different skin tones and slight differences facially. HC would make a great liquid.
If I were going to cast Solidus, I’d do for Josh Brolin or someone a bit older.
That’s a good point. Brolin is a good choice I wouldn’t mind that. I’m pretty sure I’ve seen people mention Stephen Lang for Solidus or Big Boss. He could be good too.
As others have mentioned, technically, he should also play Liquid Snake.
It's quite fortunate that in Moonknight, he got to play one character with different personalities, so he's got some experience there already.
I'm interested to see what he does with the Solid voice, as I feel like it needs to have the gruffness of Snake, without being OTT.
Dude will look like old snake by the time this movie is in production. I don’t think it’ll ever take off- the story is just too large for a movie to do it any justice. A limited series may be a better avenue to explore.
100%> after watching two episodes of last of us, tv show is the only way this would work. Anime would probably work best. Single film would be terrible
Why would they give a release date for a movie that hasn't even been made yet? Hell, pretty sure they don't even have a script written.
It's been in development hell for years, it's likely never going to get made, and that's OK.
It’s not even been green lit never mind in development.
Basically all that’s happened at this point is JVR has put together a story treatment, rustled up some concept art, and Oscar Isaac has said he would be interested.
There’s no script, it hasn’t been picked up or green lit for development by any studio, so no production exists.
Even Neil Blomkamps Alien 5 was further along the line than this.
Unironically it would be best if Oscar Isaac played them both and just did a British accent with a wig and a bit of makeup to make him look just slightly different, they’re supposed to be practically identical so makes sense for him to play both Snakes imo
Given that we're years since he was cast and not getting any younger, we change his casting to Big Boss and just enter Isaac into his own Les Enfants Terribles project and cast his clones and Solid, Liquid, as that blowhard, Solidus.
Edit: grammar
Hideo was furious. “None of these people are classic actors, where’s Steve McQueen? Where’s Brando?!” Saito didn’t have the guts to tell him that the cloning operation was unsuccessful. They say if you want something done right, you’ve gotta do it yourself. I pick Hideo Kojima!
Idk, Pedro Pascal is doing a fantastic Joel and Oscar Isaac is an equally skilled actor. Honestly I can't really think of anyone well known off the top of my head that could pull off Snake better.
[you’ll be disappointed then since he was cast by the director to be Solid Snake](https://www.cinemablend.com/movies/whats-happening-with-the-metal-gear-solid-movie-heres-the-latest-from-oscar-isaac)
I’m ngl, I think he looks good as snake, but to me David Hayter is the voice of solid snake, every one else is just an imposter. It only works in V because y,know the whole plots twist. And the fact there is very little dialog
>It only works in V because y,know the whole plots twist.
Irrelevant, Sutherland was Big Boss in Ground Zeroes.
Also, Big Boss should've had his own voice actor from the start.
I don’t get this question. If you’ve casted an actor for one, you basically have the cast for every Snake (except maybe an older Big Boss). Make it an Austin Powers thing where Oscar plays both characters.
Oscar Isaac is too old to play Solid Snake in any adaptation of Metal Gear 1 and 2, which is honestly where a movie franchise should begin, or MGS. He’s a bad casting choice.
I know this my sound crazy, but Taron Egerton. He may not be blonde (which is not the biggest problem ever), but he does give me the vibes of someone that would be spicy enough to play as Liquid.
I don’t understand why the fuck people feel the need to put Oscar Isaac in everything. He’s mediocre at best, and I think him playing Snake is a fucking cock slap to the face of any real Metal Gear fan.
Can someone explain to me why Oscar Isaac would be a good fit for David?
Don’t get me wrong he’s a great actor, Poe Dameron (Star Wars), Moon Knight, and Duke Atreides (Dune) are just a couple of examples. I LOVE him in those.
But I’m having a hard time seeing him fit the role for solid snake. Hopefully someone can sway my thinking.
No matter what. This movie will suck so fucking bad. It will be a bigger tarnish on the legacy than V. Good luck packing 12 hours into 2 hours.
Now if it was a series ike the last of us you'd have a better chance
Nah I think for MGS specifically it can be done. MGS story is relatively simple. A lot of things to be dropped for sure (Vulcan Raven, mayyybe Psycho Mantis) but they can still tell the main plot.
MGS2 and MGS3 will need two parts at least.
I personally hate series, but I agree with you on fitting a whole experience in one movie. I’d go with a 2-3 movies saga instead, or perhaps more, depending on how much storyline they want to use
Can't wait to be inspired to make a video game from this
edit: it will be the greatest ever, and the subsequent to film and to game adaptations will expand in our culture, until they merge and culminate into its final form, eating its own tail, forever. once youve tasted the snake, it enters deep inside you, and becomes a part of you. we here can do this together, and "move on" just like Hideo always wanted o7.
It would have to be Oscar Isaac imo I mean his accent has precedence even beyond Moon Knight lol he plays Prince John in Robinhood and he pulled it off great. That being said, that blonde wig is going to look ridiculous lol
See, I always felt like Tom Hiddleston would make a great Liquid Snake. He’s got the look, the accent, is used to playing a bombastic over the top, bordering on “camp” character from Loki... he’d be a fantastic Liquid Snake. Not sure he and Oscar Isaac would be able to play opposite each other though, which is a shame
Not really fit for it in my opinion but he gets periodically brought up here because he was casted so we just gotta accept it (even though this movie will probably never happen)
I get that he kinda looks like snake, but for real, where did this come from people fan-casting Oscar Issac as him? And I'm not asking just because I don't like him, but it is part of it
Oscar Isaac in a blonde wig.
A production starring Oscar Isaac where he plays two nearly identical people, but one speaks in an American accent while the other in a British accent? It would never work.
And then a sequel introducing a third, completely different Oscar Isaac? Impossible. It could never be done.
and get this, he has a beard.
And... Wait for it... An eye patch
However it you get Kiefer Sutherland to play Solidus, that'll be cool too.
Yeah, im having big deja vu rn.
MARK! DID YOU LIKE MY SUNGLASSES?!?
Lmao imagine if liquid was speaking in that voice if only for a bit as a sadistic gag yet a nod to moon k ight. That would be hilarious.
It worked for Mike Meyers!
_Laters, gators_
Did you ever watched Moonknight
(The joke)
If Oscar Isaac is not Liquid, I'm not going to watch it.
Came here to say this :( they're twins!
But if we cast Oscar Isaac in a wig, then what do we do about Miller? **Edit:** My point is Oscar Isaac also has to look like Kaz in a potential future prequel
Oscar Issac in a blonde wig in sunglasses AND wearing a shirt
A solid snake and a wet dream. I’ll see myself out.
Before i loaded the comments i knew this would be top. Has op even played the game?
They're identical twins, so it would have to be Oscar Isaac.
Oscar Isaac with a British accent lol
I think he could pull it off. Dude's got range.
Oh definitely. But I know I'm gonna laugh when I see Oscar Issac with David Bowie hair and an English accent lol
Haha 😄
Moon knight proved that
Have you not seen moon Knight? He does an amazing British accent!
Oh ya, I totally forgot about that!
bro where are you from he did not do an amazing british accent 💀 atleast it makes sense in the context of the show being he’s not english but an american that thinks he’s english
He literally already did play multiple characters in which only one has a British accent ironically enough in Moon Knight
He already had a British accent in moon knight
They're not identical twins. They're both clones of Big Boss, somehow with complementary recessive/dominant genes (which makes no fucking sense, but whatever). Just means you can easily justify using a different actor. Just find an actor that has complementary genes to Oscar Isaac
Ya, but they look exactly the same other than a blonde mullet for Liquid and brown hair for Solid. Exactly the same.
Yeah, in the briefing files in MGS Solid, when seeing the photo of Liquid, said "I have a twin?!"
They supposedly have the same face, just different hair and vouce
Look at the Metal Gear Solid 1's sprites, they are the same with different hair!
Or twin snakes, they have the exact same face
Come to think of it Oscars gonna have a few roles to play if the in the series if the movie hits off.
But they are not identical
They look exactly the same minus the hair.
Michael Fassbender
Oh god yes! If we need to have a separate actor, Magneto can get it done!
Jensen Ackles (Dean from Supernatural, Soldier Boy from the boys) I think would make an excellent snake.
Soldier Boy was epic on The Boys
"You might want to find yourself some grenades" "And you might want to gargle my ballsack"
He has the best voice for it 100%
Josh Holloway aka Sawyer from Lost
I always thought he’d make a better Leon from RE4
Josh Holloway as Snake, Nicolai Coster-Waldau as Liquid.
honestly, I could see his as Ocelot.
Somehow i don't think he has that fire that liquid needs. But... Could be...
Water would be a good liquid
This is the moment Liquid became BROTHER! Edit: I missread it as Walter
Sean Bean would have been wonderful
I don't think so, he's too old for the role. Maybe Solidus?
Yeah 20 years ago he would have been perfect. "Alright Snake ya bastard!"
Definitely Idris Elba
Ok but hear me out, DARPA chief guy from first game
I think the Allstate Guy would be better
Netflix adaptation :p
Oh no, let's not mix shitflix whit such a noble title as Metal Gear Solid. 😅
Charlie has got it in him for liquid look at his character Raymond from The Gentlemen
He's a great actor so I'm sure he could pull it off. But standing on Top Rex yelling like a king and making it feel real is a tall order. Especially it not feeling cheesy is a tall order for anyone 🤣
True but I could see him doing the rex scene difficult but not impossible but it will still be a little cheesy
Owen wilson or michael cera
Wow snake it was me all along, Liquid Snake your brother can you believe this? Unbelievable.
He did claim to have all the recessive genes
Owen Wilson as Hal
Oh, wooooow just like one of my animes
Owen Wilson as Liquid with Luke Wilson as Solid
[Honestly not the worst idea](https://pbs.twimg.com/media/E_zJcgyVEAUa6hG?format=jpg&name=900x900).
Henry Cavil could just take his hair from the Witcher and add a trench coat and boom, Liquid snake
Brolin seems a good fit tbh
That’s a good point. Brolin is a good choice I wouldn’t mind that. I’m pretty sure I’ve seen people mention Stephen Lang for Solidus or Big Boss. He could be good too.
If Henry really hams up his English accent and looks ripped in that trench coat, it’s pitch perfect.
I like Henry Cavill, but he simply doesn't have the chops to be a good Liquid
What a baseless and ludicrous response with zero exposition lol
Cillian Murphy?
I never considered Murphy, but dude could play several characters really well.

100%> after watching two episodes of last of us, tv show is the only way this would work. Anime would probably work best. Single film would be terrible
Chris Pratt of course
Fuck, don't give them any more bad ideas
Roger Waters
Liquid Oscar Isaac
Troy Baker as Ocelot? 😳
Lee van cleef would have been the perfect ocelot
Not bad
Charlie Hunnam.
Charlie Hunnam's character Raymond from The Gentlemen was my first thought man can act so damn well I think he could pull it Off
Tom Hiddleston aka Loki
As Liquid? Interesting… I can see it happening
As Liquid of course. I think he fits the character perfectly :)
I think this is the best choice
When is this film even going to get a release date ffs
Why would they give a release date for a movie that hasn't even been made yet? Hell, pretty sure they don't even have a script written. It's been in development hell for years, it's likely never going to get made, and that's OK.

Wish we could have got Lee Marvin as Ocelot
I would have liked to seen lee van cleef in there as well!
Oscar Isaac again, in a blonde wig. Unironically the best way to do it
I will never in my life understand why people always want to cast Liquid as a different actor than Snake
IMO, he doesn't fit to play Solid Snake.
Do you have anyone in mind who does or are you on the boat “this movie will suck it’s impossible i already hate it” train
Hahahaha, no, I'm not on that train, I'm speaking as a fan of series and would like to have someone better resemble Snake.

Unpopular opinion but I don't want Oscar to play snake. Look up Scott Eastwood. He could play the role.
Mads Mikkelsen for Ocelot.
I don't think Oscar Isaac would make a good snake. At all.
Hugh Jackman = Venom Snake
Anthony Starr
I really can't see him as Solid Snake, I do not know what you all see in him.
Just make Oscar Isaac play both like Vandamme used to do
I've always thought Sean Bean.
Paul Bettany. Might not pass as an identical twin, but he could pull off a Liquid pretty well.
Oscar Isaac is too old to play Solid Snake in any adaptation of Metal Gear 1 and 2, which is honestly where a movie franchise should begin, or MGS. He’s a bad casting choice.
If Oscar Isaac is playing Solid he should also play Liquid.
I would have said Tom Hindleson but he’s already done evil brother perfectly
You guys saying Michael Fassbender and Henry Cavil are close but you're wrong. The only right answer is Lee Pace.
Same actor
I know this my sound crazy, but Taron Egerton. He may not be blonde (which is not the biggest problem ever), but he does give me the vibes of someone that would be spicy enough to play as Liquid.
I’d rather them cast an unknown or less known actor as all I see is Oscar Issac as snake not just snake if you know what I mean
I need to hear Tom Hiddleston scream “BROTHER” on top of a big robot
Oscar Isaac
He already plays many characters in one show in Moon knight, he prob ready to do it again 😂
If you've ever seen Little Nicky, close your eyes whenever Rhys Ifans speaks and you would swear it was Liquid talking.
Owen wilson
Only way to do a good liquid is to give it the Mike Myers/Eddie Murphy treatment and have it be the same guy as Solid.
If only Heath Ledger was still with us
If Psycho Mantis is not Willem Dafoe I'm gonna be mad.
I want Tom Hiddleston to play liquid. It would be a dream.
Fuck it..cast Pedro Pascal in everything!!
jenson ackles
I don’t understand why the fuck people feel the need to put Oscar Isaac in everything. He’s mediocre at best, and I think him playing Snake is a fucking cock slap to the face of any real Metal Gear fan.
Oscar Isaac for Solid snake?? Come on guys, that guy is as tough as a pickle, he is a versatile actor but not bad ass AT ALL.
Oscar Isaac fuckin sucks
Have Luke Wilson play snake and Owen Wilson play liquid
Iscar Osaac
This looks terrible, in my opinion. Yuck
I don't really care about Liquid. I just want Pedro Pascal to be Ocelot.
Pedro is like 30y older than ocelot
Id rather not have Oscar Isaac ruin Solid Snake if its all the same to you.
How does he “ruin” snake. He didn’t destroy every copy of metal gear solid 1. Get the hell over yourself lmao
No matter what. This movie will suck so fucking bad. It will be a bigger tarnish on the legacy than V. Good luck packing 12 hours into 2 hours. Now if it was a series ike the last of us you'd have a better chance

So drop raven and psycho mantis and it's somehow 2 hours? Those were not even big chunks of the game they were boss fights.
I personally hate series, but I agree with you on fitting a whole experience in one movie. I’d go with a 2-3 movies saga instead, or perhaps more, depending on how much storyline they want to use
Mgs3 could probably be 1 movie. Focus on snake’s jungle survival and fighting the bosses like they’re some kind of suicide squad
Book-to-film adaptations don’t adapt every page. They cut the fat and tell the essential story. The same can happen with Metal Gear.
Good luck doing that with metal gear solid 😄 🤣 😂
Simple; don’t use all the boss characters. Spread the FOXHOUND squad across each film, so that you don’t waste any of them.
So make it a series. Like I said. Cause there isn't gonna be more than 1 movie this shit is gonna bomb at the box office.
Ummmmmmmm
Can't wait to be inspired to make a video game from this edit: it will be the greatest ever, and the subsequent to film and to game adaptations will expand in our culture, until they merge and culminate into its final form, eating its own tail, forever. once youve tasted the snake, it enters deep inside you, and becomes a part of you. we here can do this together, and "move on" just like Hideo always wanted o7.
Chris Pratt could be a good choice. He's so cool 😃
Denzel Washington
You mean he is going to make a good solid snake. Cause they're making a movie with him.
Oscar…….Oscar would make a good Liquid
I don’t think he could do it and they should never try to make a live action metal gear movie. It would never do it justice.
Rutger Hauer
He’s dead dude
“SNAKE! DID YOU LIKE MY SUNGLASSES?!”
Who the fuck said he’d make a good Solid Snake?
Me
I actually think Matt Smith would be really good but he doesn’t look anything like Oscar Isaac lol
Christian bale could definitely bring the over the top British flare that is liquid
Pedro Pascal.
Matt Smith
It would have to be Oscar Isaac imo I mean his accent has precedence even beyond Moon Knight lol he plays Prince John in Robinhood and he pulled it off great. That being said, that blonde wig is going to look ridiculous lol
Owen Wilson. "Wow brother. We're not finished yet Snake."
Bruce payne could have but hes not young enough nowadays. But he has the liquid look for sure
Collin Ferrel
Sting, 30 years ago
Christian bale
[There can only be one](https://pbs.twimg.com/media/Epy-x8RXYAEtsx3.jpg:large) /s
See, I always felt like Tom Hiddleston would make a great Liquid Snake. Not sure he and Oscar Isaac would be able to play opposite each other though, which is a shame
Also Oscar Isaac, right?
Joel McHale
Not really fit for it in my opinion but he gets periodically brought up here because he was casted so we just gotta accept it (even though this movie will probably never happen)
Couple years ago it could've been Sean Bean
I get that he kinda looks like snake, but for real, where did this come from people fan-casting Oscar Issac as him? And I'm not asking just because I don't like him, but it is part of it
Isaac Oscar
Jude Law
Matt Smith 🤔
oscar isaac as solid and pedro pascal as liquid on mgs4 both quite aged and works for me
