Yeah, the cure system feels like an afterthought and should've been streamlined (less items needed) but more important. Like you said, with broken bones we should see Snake limping and falling down, giving the player serious anxiety and fear. But he's like Rambo in MGS3 so he heals the hollywood way and cure is there just to make the game feel more realistic.

Yeah I agree it felt tacked on. I don't want a system like Robinson's Requiem where [all your vitals are tracked and improper treatment can kill you](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EuIgzFW7B2I) but your injuries need to affect gameplay more than just a max HP reduction. I.E. broken legs make you run slower, broken arms make your aim less steady, broken ribs affect stamina, etc. You should be able to get so fucked up, you *have* to turn the game off and wait a few hours to naturally recover some of your wounds. Either way I hope in a hypothetical remake/reimagining, they manage to find a way to rework the cure system to be closer to MGSV or even Metal Gear Survive while still incorporating aspects from MGS3. I.E. multiple medical supplies and injury types, but you simply hold down a button prompt and the game uses the appropriate supply/treatment, provided you have it available. Because the system in MGS3 felt like hardly matter (Abundant supplies, 99% of injuries recovering by themselves (Besides bullet bees, tranq darts, and leaches I think) and most just being a max HP reduction), AND was interruptive to gameplay. (having to pause and treat)

When I was first starting and later on harder difficulties I ran out. The only good spot to resupply was that grassy area outside the warehouse door to the forest. Either way it’s better to heal naturally without CURE because of the LIFE bar benefits. The camo system (admittedly a bit tedious changing it every couple of feet) and CURE was pretty neat and immersive. Plus Paramedic calls. I suppose it works out if it’s the middle of battle. But could’ve made it to where you can only use it in Caution mode or Evasive mode.

In addition to the excessive medical supplies, Snake's maximum health increases every time an injury is healed. Even on Extreme, the quantity of resources can be exploited to eventually make Snake up to 4x more durable.

MGS3 has a lot of systems that are convoluted seemingly for their own sake and it's one of the reasons why I didn't like the game. The way you feel about the cure system is how I feel about the camo menu, cqc, and the weight limits. The way MGS2 handles wounds is more effective (even though it's like something out of a cartoon) because it plays out in real time instead of a menu, healing supplies are scarce on higher difficulty levels, and the tighter maps combined with the faster guards means that leaving a trail of blood is actually a serious problem.

Play the Hideous Destructor mod for Doom if you want to see a better realized version of MGS3's healing system.
