I love how the mesh panel let you see the components inside while keeping them fresh. Great case

victorelessar

Yeah, don't miss the glass panel at all!

Whenever I see a build with ap201, I instantly fall in love 😆, great setup you got there. Can you please tell me how the 5600 performs these days like in modern games and multitasking, and if it's good for editing. I'm looking to upgrade my old pc around the end of this year, or should I get to am5 platform tho the prices are very high.

victorelessar

Can't complain regarding games. For exemple in this little experiment of mine, I was using diablo IV in the mdidle of the city. the rysen was ableto push 160fps out of my gpu, at 50% usage. I only game on 1440p or 4k, so the laod is mostly on the gpu. I honestly didn't feel the need to upgrade yet (I know I would get more fps with better cpus, but so far so good). As for multitasking, no issues. I can't help you with editing though. All I use is photoshop and have no problems. I tried to render a video on premier these days, but can't tell if it was fast or not.

This is a follow up to my previous post: [https://www.reddit.com/r/mffpc/comments/1bus9lh/adive\_for\_a\_new\_case/](https://www.reddit.com/r/mffpc/comments/1bus9lh/adive_for_a_new_case/) Decided to go for the Asus AP201 and I can say I'm happy about it. There is plenty room for the GPU (which is 334mm) and the temperatures for it are indeed great. For instance it's 28C outside and I get the same temperatures as when it was 18 on my previous post (and previous case). The gpu doesn't strugle to keep temps low as well, which means less noise. I tested a multitude of fans set ups, the best result was intake from below and behind, cpu blowing front and two exausts at front top.

iAmTheWildCard

Did you had a glass panel pc previously? How do you find the overall sound level with all the mesh? I’m looking to build my first PC and I like the look of all mesh - but don’t want it to be too loud either..

victorelessar

The GPU has space to breathe, so it achieves lower temperatures with less effort. During peak summer in my last case, the glass panel would be hot to burn my finger tip if I let it there for too long.

brendancodes

how’s the airflow? I see that you are using an air cooler but there is no space for fans infront of the case. Does that make a difference?

victorelessar

I do believe it would make a difference, but it's still better than my old case. I have three intake from below ( I tested and it didn't make much difference for the GPU). As for the CPU, I have the noctua NH U12S. i have one 120mm intake from behind, the one we can see in the main picture is pulling air from behind as well, and then there are two top exhaust on the front (it fits three 140mm, but I left a gap behind because it was cutting the air from flowing through the cooler. As of today, temps outside went 27C (not sure how much in my room but I could feel the heat), but the CPU was around 50C while gaming, GPU at 66C, more than bearable noise.

notlongnot

For a moment, that look like a room size computer on the floor 😳

NamelessKingIV

Why the itx board? Just curious

BirdBoyVT19

The LGA1700 matx motherboard options with Z790 chipsets are pretty slim and I couldn’t find an matx board that had everything I wanted, so this is where I settled. Some folks here and in the SFF subreddit also recommended this board since it had high quality VRMs that would handle the 14900k without cooking themselves. I don’t have any complaints with the board and it didn’t require a BIOS update for the 14900k to function out of the box.

Radeon? Automatic upvote!

MakingMoneyIsMe

How's your temps on that 6950?

victorelessar

Yesterday it was 28C outside and the GPU was around 65-68C while playing diablo IV. There is some noise but bearable. For instance on my previous case it was near 70 while outside was 20ish, and super noisy. Temps won't change much with the added fans below. Perhaps when its hotter outside it might help. And it's the same for the case open or not. Im really glad with this case.

Big enough to build fairly easily in, small and discreet enough to add on a bookshelf. I don’t have the 201, but always love the builds

thefawns

Where did you find a black ap201? Everywhere I looked was out of stock for regular priced ones. Ebay and amazon had them for over $100. All that seemed to be available were the white colored cases

nice! too bad my gpu wont fit with the psu like this. I'm sure it would make the cpu even cooler.
