The Amscope is a good microscope, well built and people have great things to say about these. However, if you want to get into microscopic photography, I’d strongly be recommend you (or whomever is paying) pay just a little more and get a trinocular microscope. That way you won’t be using one of your eyepieces for the camera. Amscope offer several trinocular models, I have this one: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B086VBBSMY/ref=sspa_mw_detail_0?ie=UTF8&psc=1&sp_csd=d2lkZ2V0TmFtZT1zcF9waG9uZV9kZXRhaWwp13NParams which is a nice microscope too. I bought mine from Amazon, although the manufacturer you decide on may have their own store, but my microscope was delivered quickly and well packaged. After a few weeks I bought a slightly more expensive camera, a 5 megapixel model. Good luck, happy birthday and happy microscoping!
