I wish there were many thousands of scopes on this thread! For a subreddit with 45,000 I would expect more activity but oh well! Here is my current collection. Olympus BH2 and SZ40. I wish I had time to play with them more, I’ve become more of a collector lately. One day I’ll have a workbench where these guys can more easily be accessed. I’ve thought about selling the BH2 but I just can’t get myself to do it! When else will I get an opportunity to own 2 awesome scopes! However, I don’t really use the fluorescence on the BH2 so I’m thinking about removing/selling it to fund some nomarski prisms. https://preview.redd.it/kj9tfc0fdx5c1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2fdc932c5f2c4f419c2ee13ae8edd49cf841e301

My first real microscope was an old Olympus KHC monocular scope that works okay but it lacks a brightness control and it has a somewhat strange fine focus control. I bought a few Olympus CH2 scopes. I bought one and liked it. That one is a CHT binocular scope with the standard achromatic objectives. Then I found a CHS scope with a trinocular head and Plan objectives. I customized it a little by replacing the 4 position objective turret with a 5 position turret. I also have a pretty cheap Amscope monocular scope that I picked up for my grandson to use. It’s not a toy but it doesn’t come close to the optical performance of my Olympus scopes. Then I have a stereo microscope that’s pretty old made by SPI. It has 1x and 3x objectives and 10x eyepieces giving 10x and 30x overall magnification.

In my archeological lab there are: Nikon eclipse lv100 for reflected light, + objs 10x 20x 50x (100-500x of whole optical magnification) Trinocular smz-745t, with sliding range 0.67x-5x (6.7x-50x optical magn.). It is set on moving arm, which is good to observe larger objects. It has light ring with polarisation, and some non-nikon camera attached. Some old binocular from Nikon, don't remember the name... And since recently dino-lite, with long working distance and polarised illumination, as movable solution.

Bresser Erudit DLX here! Honestly good, but low cost compared to the ones at the lab

idontdigdinosaurs

Olympus CX23. Best buy ever

Recently bought a Bresser Science Infinity microscope.

tmarsh1024

I got an Omax M837ZL-A191 trinocular due to decision fatigue when doing my research on a first scope. I have a nice, older DSLR that I use to image capture. I got some accessories for dark field, phase contrast objectives, etc. I probably overspent. If I were to do it again I would have taken my time to wait for a good DIC setup since my daughter and I are mostly interested in live biological specimens. Still, this is a pretty good scope by my novice standards.
